Did you know I have owned or operated my own business (of some sort) for 35+ years now? I didn't even know the word Entrepreneur when I started. Now, I have embraced the role of Entrepreneur, helping others do the same. It's not for everyone, but everyone can benefit from adding an entrepreneurial mindset. There's a long line of business ventures I have been involved in since I started my first when I was just 15 years old. Listen today to hear the whole story, from the music business to marketing to business development and now economic development and higher education. Listen, then make a comment with your story. Let's talk about it! The Saturday MorningHustle podcast is for anyone willing to come in early, stay late or hustle on the weekend to be successful. http://bit.ly/ListenToSMH
Can't Judge An Entrepreneur By The Cover 11/17/18. Something struck me recently about the changing ideas of what makes one an entrepreneur, hustler, influencer, business leader, etc.... There is no "set" type of person. Old, young, male, female, suit-and-tie or jeans and a t-shirt types. All types of people are pursuing their careers or other passions while trying to find ways to make it all work. That's the common bond - making your "thing" work because that's what you want to do with your life. Career, Side-Hustle or Hobby - Levels of Entrepreneurship 1/12/19. I run through the levels of entrepreneurship: Side Hustle, Project Based, Outside Interest, Second Career and Hobby. Each has its own set of rules, expectations, and return on investment (or lack thereof). If your full-time/part-time J-O-B isn't enough, there are a few options. There are many options for "being your own boss" with levels of risk, freedom, and fringe benefits. Let's talk about it.
Create success, stay humble, help others! A lot is happening in the world right now. A lot of people need a helping hand. Natural disasters, inflation and crime are affecting a lot of people today. Use your business success to be of service to others. Do good things and see positive results. Think globally, act locally. What business lessons can you learn from the biggest comeback in the biggest college football rivalry game? A lot! Let's talk about it. Adjustments to setbacks, staying true to the brand identity, consistency, patience, learning lessons, maximizing strengths while avoiding weaknesses, relying on your team culture, managing change, seizing opportunity and taking a risk by pivoting.... sounds like running a business, right? That is true, but it also describes the 2021 OU Sooners vs Texas Longhorns football game in Dallas, TX. Let's discuss the parallels between business and football before the 2024 Red River Rilverly kick-off later this afternoon. Boomer Sooner! Beat Texas!! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PIECES OF ADVICE: “People Will Steal Your Ideas. Do It Anyways!” Episode 395 is a "Best Of Saturday Morning Hustle" flashback from 7/28/18 #ICYMI. That's right, not everyone on the planet is ethical (or honest). Plenty of people you have never met (or might be very close to you) are willing to take other people's ideas and pass them off as their own. I'm not condoning it, but I'm just telling you it can/will happen. You still need to innovate! Come up with new ideas, approaches, tactics and ways of doing things. Do not let the potential theft of your next great idea slow or stop you. Put yourself out there and see who does it better. Focus on your audience and your success. Anyone looking for a shortcut will ultimately fail. Make them work hard to keep up with you. Stealing ideas and claiming credit is not sustainable. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. A three-part flashback about adversity and conflict resolution. Parts one and two are specific to the trials and tribulations of developing OKCs first creative business community collaboration space, professional offices, co-working and art gallery 1219 Creative. Part three focuses on the value of utilizing conflict resolution, not avoiding it. This conversation covers internal and external conflicts and why it's better to take on problems sooner rather than later. Together, these episodes provide insights and execution for handling whatever comes your way in business or life. Let's talk about it! Pt1: Dealing with adversity in business. This podcast is all about staying positive, but today we need to talk about adversity. When life throws you a curve ball or roadblock at you, don't take it personally. Make a negative a positive. Published: October 14, 2017 Pt2: Making lemonade from life's lemons. Opportunity comes from making a negative a positive and creating opportunity out of adversity. Take a disadvantage and make it your advantage. Lemonade from lemons. Published: October 28, 2017 Pt3: Conflict happens in business. Conflict is a part of business. If you can't handle conflict, maybe you shouldn't be a boss, business owner or entrepreneur. Toughen up buttercup. Published: October 21, 2017 It's Saturday. I'm in the office. Two flashback episodes combine advice on embracing adversity and change as an opportunity to grow and on implementing this growth for the most potentially successful outcomes. Adversity happens, how will you react? Adversity hits everyone. There will always be bumps in the road. You only have control over how prepared you are and how well you react to negative situations. Don't let setbacks get you down. Use that to motivate even more. Don't get mad or sad; get to work. When life gives you lemons... #Lemonade #WorkSmart #WorkHard #Hustle #Grind #MaxEffort The simple truth is there is no simple, singular path to success - big or small. Most of the time, something (or everything) fails to work out as planned. BUT, that's not an excuse to skip the plan and jump in without a strategy. That's even worse. The key to success is making a plan, developed via a strategic process with goals, objectives, tactics, tools, assets and measurements that can adapt as needed because you will need to make changes along the way. The better prepared you are to change with circumstances, the more likely you will achieve your ultimate success. Let's talk about it! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. People like to know what to expect from a business + be pleasantly surprised at the same time. The key to success is balancing the two. • Branding and Marketing should create expectations you must then meet (execution on delivery). • Product/Service (value offer) needs differentiation - an alternative to what's already available in the market. • Provide something exciting and deliver with consistency. Let's talk about it. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. Listen while your competition is still sleeping. https://bit.ly/ListenToSMH
Flashback episode (originally posted exactly 7 years ago 9/9/17). I started my first business at age 15, but I didn't understand what I was doing. 30 (now 37) years later, I've learned a lot along the way. Find an opportunity to fill a need with something you have a talent for. The business lesson I learned from “I started a business at 15 when I got kicked out of a rock-n-roll band” is to identify a need others have that they're willing & capable of paying for that matches up with skills, experience or talent you have = business opportunity. Two Part #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode from August of 2019 about how to work as hard as possible while avoiding burnout. Listen again, or for the first time for tips, tricks and techniques for hustling without hurting yourself. Hustle, Grind, Have Fun - How Is That Possible? Avoiding Burnout 8/10/19. Yes, the #SaturdayMorningHustle is all about that #RiseAndGrind but burnout is a real thing, even for the most dedicated hustlers. Everyone eventually hits a wall, but it's different for each individual. So how can you stay at maximum efficiency to avoid crashing into the wall? Find ways to have a little fun. You make a plan to work hard, so also make a plan to avoid burnout. Take small breaks, find fun things to do while waiting for files to download, check social media only during coffee breaks or stop and call someone: an actual old-fashioned phone call to your BFF or parents or significant other just to remind you why you work so hard. #WorkSmart and #WorkHard for success. A bit of gamification or pauses in your overall hustle goes a long way. What do you think? How do you keep from burning out or losing effectiveness? Let's talk about it. All Work and No Play Makes Jack (or Jill) a dull boy (or girl) 8/31/19. You've heard this before, right? With the start of College Football soon, this is my reminder to enjoy what all your hard work brings to your life. What's the point of all that hustle and grind if you can't really take time away from your pursuits to do things that make you happy? After all, a happy hustler is a productive hustler. Right? This flashback episode features 3 back-to-back-to-back episodes focused on the value, impact and application of balance on your professional and personal pursuits. The #SaturdayMorningHustle key to success is..... BALANCE! Highs vs. Lows Hustle vs. Rest Push vs. Patience Win at all cost vs. Team player Big picture planning vs. Immediate actions So how does this idea apply to your life, career or entrepreneurial pursuits? I have some advice for you. Check out the podcast to hear all about it. 12/7/19 A different take on balancing opposite concepts on an all-new #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. Not just work/life balance or deciding between self-serving or team attitude (last week's episode) but also balancing promotion/value, promise/deliver and give/ask for concepts for entrepreneurs, business owners, artists, musicians, influencers and self-brands. Let's talk about why balance in approach, attitude and planning is crucial to success. You have to give and take, but how much and when? Let's discuss. 12/14/19 A true test of an entrepreneur is how he/she balances risk and reward. Too aggressive and you can go bankrupt quickly. Too passive, and nothing ever happens for you. Let's talk about how to balance risk and reward. How do you bring balance to your decision-making process so you can capitalize on opportunities without too much unnecessary risk? I have some ideas for you. 12/21/19 It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. Listen while your competition is still sleeping. https://bit.ly/ListenToSMH
Today I'm sharing a bunch of funny but true stories about some of the dumbest ways I have missed opportunities or lost jobs/clients with the lessons learned each time. Strap in, we're going for a wild ride! Let's talk about it. Questionable ethics (theirs, not mine) Nervous about success Parking lot mistaken identity road rage You make it look easy, we don't need you Success cost too much money Didn't want to spend $ to make $$$$ Leave a bad boss or organization Too honest for the boss Don't be a Debby Downer or Yes Man My 3-strike rule Price is too low, must not be good It's Saturday. Maximum Effort: Just Like Deadpool! That's right, I'm inspired by Deadpool (obvious timing for a repost from 4/18/20). The foul-mouthed, R-rated and most likely insane superhero (portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in the Marvel films) lives his best life (sarcastically) via the mantra of "Maximum Effort" which is actually a really good idea. Maximum effort will allow you to go back to develop customer loyalty, lessons learned from setbacks and never quit. If you want it, you gotta #EarnIt with your #Hustle and #Grind #EvenOnTheWeekend. BONUS FLASHBACK EP: Hustle Will Set You Free from 1/18/2020. Yes, it's that simple. Well, sort of. Give me 8 minutes to explain. (Sorry about the occasional windshield wiper noise). Recorded on the drive to the office. The work you do today, creates the opportunities of tomorrow. With that in mind, how much time and effort are you willing to pour into today? The one thing you can control 100% of is your effort. So let's hustle! Hustle, effort and attitude all work together to create potential for success. Stick with it! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. The very first special guest interview on the #SaturdayMorningHustle was my friend Hoang Lam, host of the Defining Moments Podcast, Founder of Storm Check and CEO of CMM Financial, originally posted 5/20/23. Hoang created the Defining Moments Podcast because he believes in the power of positive people with unique stories. By sharing them, he hopes to inspire a more positive world and to bring people together. Hoang and his wife Margy Lam started the Defining Moments Podcast as a way to challenge themselves as a team and push each of them out of their comfort zones. A little nostalgia today as I explain lessons learned from seemingly unconnected occurrences from 1985 to 2000 including playing in garage Bands, 90's warehouse raves, music video fails, a chance meeting with Nine Inch Nails and creative business hustle before the internet, smartphones, social media, etc. It all worked out (because we didn't die) long before I knew how to utilize these experiences as an entrepreneur. Let's talk about it. Originally post 6/4/22. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. Listen while your competition is still sleeping. https://bit.ly/ListenToSMH
I have been talking about the proper way to build audiences and brands on the Saturday Morning Hustle for a long time. Want to be an entrepreneur or run a successful business? Avoid Social Media "experts" using inspirational quotes + stock photos of exotic cars and vacations. Instead, pay attention to people willing to share practical advice on how to build a business on a day-to-day basis. Don't let them sell you a "system" or "one weird trick" to success. Watch people who #Hustle #Grind and share #Advice along the way. Other people's success doesn't stop you from having success. Good luck to everyone willing to work hard for your dreams. Once you make some $$, don't blow it on superficial stuff. Build your brand THE RIGHT WAY! Originally posted 7/4/20. Happy 4th of July. Celebrate freedom, but please be careful. See you next week! New SMH episodes ended on 5/18/24 but I'm still posting #BestOf and #Flashback episodes from the last 7 years until the end of 2024. Success is a series of hurdles. Some are easy, some are harder, some seem impossible. That's the grind; this is where hustle and drive are needed. If it's worth doing, it will be hard. But everyone on TV, social media and the internet only show you the cars, vacations and bling that comes from their (claimed) success. The grind isn't pretty, and no one wants to admit they struggled, failed, got discouraged, and maybe even quit (but then returned). That is the reality of anyone who has achieved a level of success that you are sitting at home hoping to emulate. True story! Do NOT be discouraged when your success journey has highs and lows. It's all part of the process. Get up early, stay up late, work on the weekend and do what you need to do for your success. Do not focus on how easy it was for someone else because it wasn't as easy as they say. Best of luck! Recorded 6/23/2018. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. "I HATE to lose, but I LOVE to learn new things. They often go together. Find the lesson in every loss to turn it into a victory." How can you do both at once? Success is a growth process. Your love of the game is more important than # of wins. This championship mindset is essential! Let's talk about it today. A "Best Of SMH" episode from 5/7/22. • Lessons learned when things don't work out • Sting of loss is temporary, but motivational fuel for ultimate success • Lose small, win big & Lose a battle to win the war • Don't let a single loss defeat you • Wins and losses have lessons, more from a loss • Stay humble, but motivated • Continual improvement • Champions consistently improve, pretenders quit • Who you become (a winner) is most important • GOAT Lessons It's Saturday. A very timely follow-up #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode from 6/10/23 Lessons From OU Softball
On this flashback episode from 6/12/21, we're going past #Hustle and #Grind, getting into two specific concepts for entrepreneurs, business owners, side hustlers, career builders or anyone pursuing a passion should be utilizing. Ignore the old saying "Work Smart, Not Hard" but instead replace it with "Work Smart, then Work Hard." Do both together in that order. Work Smart: Have a plan, put a strategy into place and understand your strengths and weaknesses, market condition, your competition, your audience, your value proposition and your selling position. Focus, measure and adjust for what's working (do more of that) and what's not working (do less of that) for repeatable success. Work Hard: Now that you're informed, organized and focused, put in the work. Otherwise, working hard is just being busy, not actually creating success. Use your smart plan to get the most accomplished in the most complete ways at the highest levels of quality and consistency. Don't cut corners; do the work at every level to ensure an effective outcome. Don't try to work less; work more effectively. Why? Because nothing great ever happened without hard work. This episode of the podcast explains in deep detail how these concepts work, support each other and lead to sustainable, repeatable success. Let's talk about it! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. All good things end or change. The process of growth (business or professional) involves utilizing change (adjust, adapt or adopt) to take advantage of opportunities. The #SaturdayMorningHustle has changed many times in the last 300+ weeks, and we're doing it again. Hustle Culture has also changed, so the SHM is adjusting to that fact now and in the near future. It's not goodbye; it's "let's try something different" for now. Today, we're embracing challenges - to our systems, to our thought process, to the way we do things - as a benefit, as a sum positive, the same way we embraced change last week. We're going to be challenged in your systems. We're not just embracing them, but actually seeking challenges out. Finding ways to overcome challenges is the process of ultimately being successful. The successful management of change is a common theme on the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. You guys have heard me talk about it before. I'm bringing it up again precisely because change is coming in my professional life, which means change is coming to this podcast and you're going to have to deal with change right along with me. So, there's no better reason to revisit this idea today. Change happens all the time, and even the most routine actions can have the potential to bring about new and different experiences. Successful change management requires an attitude of adaptation, adoption, and adjustment in ways that benefit you and ultimately lead to success. While changes that happen outside of our control can be challenging, how we react to them is in our control. Consistency is desired, but change is necessary. Everything evolves, and there will be unexpected outcomes and opportunities to grow and do better. Therefore, we should experiment with change, see what works, adopt it and look for new ways to change. Communication is key in change management, and it is essential to communicate changes often and learn from past experiences, both positive and negative. Change can be beneficial, and as long as we embrace it, we can move forward to achieve success. Let's talk about it today! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. The great thing about the pursuit of success is everyone gets to define what success means to them. A million $$, a hundred million $$, work/life balance, serving others, etc.....? But don't stop there! What are you going to do with that success once you have achieved it? Let's talk about it. I have a few ideas and an example of someone doing it right. Good morning, and welcome to a different type of Saturday Morning Hustle podcast. I am all dressed up today. I'm not in my usual Saturday Morning Hustle swag, a t-shirt, sweatshirt, etc. This gives me an opportunity to talk to you on a podcast today about how to set and manage expectations, understanding who you're talking to, who your audience is, and what they need to see and hear from you in order for them to take you seriously and not be focused on small things such as how you're dressed or something else superficial. You only get one chance to make a first impression once. What matters most is the expectations of the person or group of people you're meeting, collaborating with, presenting to, etc. The number one rule in communication is understanding your audience. Understand who you're talking to and what their expectations are. So when you have a formal presentation or you're in a meeting with someone who dresses a certain way, I try to accommodate their expectations. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. Success is a journey, not a destination; the path is full of unexpected deviations. You can't get too set on an idea of success because "the real world" will change that picture. Don't believe me? Just ask Luguentz (Lu) Dort, the starting shooting guard for the OKC Thunder NBA franchise. His story just might be your story (not really, but we can learn from his unconventional path to success). The key is learning how to balance "sticking with the plan" with knowing "when to get out" of a plan that just won't work BUT not too soon or making major changes too often. It's the ultimate balancing act. Let's talk about it. Original episode 8/20/20. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. Let's discuss the management lessons we can all learn from the bad guy Brad Wesley in the 1984 cult classic movie Road House. Believe it or not, he brings a lot of excellent management and leadership skills with him. I'm going to break them all down for you today. He utilized the following business development tools: work-life balance, delegation, strategy first, then action, working from a point of strength, getting your hands dirty, and doing what's necessary when it's necessary (within reason). Spoiler Alert (c'mon, this film has been out for three decades): Brad Wesley ultimately fails because his motivation (evil) and strategy (destroying all competition at any cost) are flawed. Don't fall into either of these self-imposed traps. Don't miss Pt1, the Business Process Management (BPM) lessons we can all learn from Dalton in Road House. Today, we revisit a long-lost episode of the Saturday Morning Hustle podcast that had technical difficulties and was never posted but it's a good, concise discussion episode you don't want to miss. A lot of people say they want success. They say they have to hustle. They say they have to grind. But do they really have what it takes to be successful at what they're trying to build? Do they have the patience, the forethought, the talent, and will they really hustle and grind, or do they think it's something easy like they see on TV? You have to bring something new to the market—something interesting, unique, or different about yourself and how you do what you do—something people can connect to. Everyone wants immediate success. Guess what? The world doesn't work like that. So, if you want to be successful, you'll have to build it. Nobody can just hand it to you. Nearly one week after the 2024 Super Bowl, let's talk about sports metaphors that can be used in any pursuit of excellence. Not lame "Layups" "Touchdowns" or "Game of Inches" metaphors but real wisdom from some of my favorite concepts, including... 1. Trust the process 2. Lessons learned from setbacks and losses 3. Never let the same team beat you twice 4. Creating a culture of winning 5. Ain't over until it's over 6. Teamwork and Sportsmanship. Bonus quote from a sports G.O.A.T. Muhammad Ali: "I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion. Don't count the days, make the days count." To commemorate the passing of a great person, a great Oklahoman, and a great American Mr. Toby Keith this week, we will discuss a few of his many admirable traits and behaviors that we can learn life lessons from. Specifically, let's talk about his authenticity, consistency and humility (common themes on the podcast) along with his focused approach (music business, songwriting or investing) to his career and his absolute dedication to helping others as much and as often as possible. As a bonus, we also talk about Toby's willingness to get out of his comfort zone and try new things for fun or to benefit others. This isn't a conversation about how to be successful in country music but in life. It's Saturday, I'm in the office, this is the Saturday Morning Hustle. A first-ever triple flashback to 3 episodes in January 2018 focused on productivity (plus bonus content) that also happened to be some of our most listened-to / downloaded episodes. 1/6/18 The Cure For Procrastination! The new year is the best time to make a plan, set goals and get to work. Too many people fall victim to their own procrastination. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the second best time is right now. You can't wait for the perfect time or scenario. You just have to go for it. Tips on how to get (and stay) started. 1/13/18 The Blank Page Theory. We discuss the process all creative professionals go through. Start with a blank sheet of paper. Write down where you are, point A. At the other end of the paper, write down where you need to be, point B. This can be used for creating art, design or solving a problem. Now, start adding to your point A. What do you have in place (assets), what are you trying to accomplish, why are you doing it, etc. Then, do the same for point B. What's the finished product? A painting, a brochure, a website, a better mousetrap maybe? Now, without preconceived notions or "how we've always done it" excuses start connecting A to B. This is the what, how, when, etc. in problem solving. Everything starts with nothing. No BS or reasons why you can't do it. Just work towards your goal. 1/20/18 Maximize Your Work Week. The best way to get the most out of your Monday through Friday 9-5 grind is to be prepared and organized. SaturdayMorningHustle is the perfect time to prep for the week ahead. That's what I do. Make your to-do list, set up your assets, do your research, etc... Come in early, stay late, on the weekend, etc. it's all up to you. Put the work in before the work. THAT'S hustle! Let's have a conversation about the elements necessary to create and manage a successful budget. There are four items you need to know. I call this your budget T. E. A. M. = Time, Effort, Attention, Money. You need all of these items to be managed correctly in order to properly manage a budget, execute on a budget and create the positive impact necessary to justify your budget. If you approach your budget in this way, don't just look at dollars and cents. Don't just do math. Don't focus only on money. We do that last. Focus on how much time can be allotted, how much effort can be applied during that time, how much attention is needed for that effort to be productive, and how much money will it take to start the process. How much money will it take to manage the process? How much money will we receive through the conversion process and how much money is left (profit). Advice from the week before Christmas 2020 that's still very helpful. a week past #Christmas and just one day before New Year's Eve 2023 + New Year's Day 2024. The advice in this episode is NOT about #Hustle and #Grind but being focused on what's really important (proper motivation) and setting yourself (and everyone around you) up for real, sustainable success. The keys are staying motivated for all the right reasons, avoiding all the wrong motivations and understanding that success is a process not a destination. You have the opportunity right now to be the person you previously needed. Maybe when you were 15, 25, or even 40 you were looking for a mentor. You were looking for someone to answer questions. You now could be that person for someone else. You can be available to someone else. You can help others no matter how old you are, no matter how much experience you have, no matter your station in life. Whoever you are and wherever you are in life, you can benefit someone else who needs your experience and education, the opportunities you have seized upon and what you've learned from them. Most importantly, the lessons you have learned from your failures. That's right. When I say experience, I don't just mean the winning experiences but also the lessons that come from failures. We've all had more failures than success. I want you to know that. Everyone's had failures. Many people hear the word mentor, and it's intimidating to them. They think to themselves, I can't be a mentor because I'm not the world's best at something. You might think you don't need a mentor because you are highly skilled or have experience. Both of those are false assumptions. Anyone and everyone can be a mentor and anyone and everyone can be mentored because we're all at different parts of our journey of success. We all know different things, have learned different lessons and have things to offer to those who have yet to reach the levels we have achieved. Be the person you needed earlier in life. Be a great boss, be a great coworker, be a friend, be an example, be a mentor. Let's talk about it on the SMH podcast today! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the Saturday Morning Hustle podcast. There's no worse regret than "I didn't know you did that." "I didn't know I could hire you for that." You have to tell people what you do for your job and profession, how you get paid, how you create value for others and how you help people with your professional services or products if it's something you genuinely believe in. This is not a sales pitch or a conversion process. This is not ABC "Always Be Closing". This is a value conversation, which is much better. Be brave enough to advocate for yourself, your business or brand. If you don't do it for yourself, no one else will. Talk about what you do or what you're working on casually, in an informational way. Be bold and talk about your business or side hustle. Talk about your goals. Talk about your band, art or social media account you're trying to build. Talk about a new degree you're working on because you want to change your career. Talk about things you want to do, get people involved, get people invested. Create relationships and then go from there with a potential for success. You know me, I'm Kyle Golding. I'm not just the guy behind the Saturday Morning Hustle. I'm also the CEO and Chief Strategic Idealist for The Golding Group, an award-winning think tank of strategic planning, business process management, integrated marketing and public relations consultants. We work with your leadership team to develop strategy, determine the most effective action plans, then execute and measure. We create processes, systems and protocols that can be measured, adjusted and repeated by incorporating data analysis, market trends and audience feedback in a two-way conversation. Tell people what it is you do. Tell people how it's different than other options. Tell them the value that you create. Tell them the audience you're looking for. Tell them who gets the best value out of your product or service, how you want to serve them, how you want to create for them, connect with them, build business relationships, etc... Explain these things to people, but not in a sales pitch. Don't try to sell it directly to them. Just tell friends, tell family, tell casual acquaintances. When you're networking or at a holiday event, when you meet someone and they ask, "What did you do for a living?" don't just say you're in accounting, legal, medical, business, consulting, etc... Tell them "I own a business; this is what we do. This is whom we serve." If the person listening finds value in that, you might have an opportunity, but they also might know someone or refer someone to your business. If you're going to be in business, if you're going to be a self-brand, if you're going to be a hustler, grinder or an entrepreneur, you got to be comfortable telling people who you are, what you do, the value you create, what's distinct about your business, what's good about doing business with you, why people should pay attention, why they should trust you. You have to be comfortable talking about it, not promotionally, not trying to make money, but being confident in what you do by connecting with people. Try to build relationships that eventually could lead to a business transaction. Put things in the correct order. Be confident. Be willing to do it for yourself, your business and your future success. Let's talk about it on the SMH podcast today! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the Saturday Morning Hustle podcast. A #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback to September 23rd, 2017. The key to business success is how you handle change. Winning comes from making small movements, not large pivots or failure to change at all. Business change can come from losing or gaining a client, losing your best employee or a new competitor entering your market. Do not overreact! Stick to your business plan, strategy and marketing tactics as long as you can until it's evident that you must make a change. The market will tell you when it's time for adjustments. When you do make changes, do it concisely and decisively. Winning at business means being able to handle change better than the other people in your space. Adapt and adjust. You can't be the "flavor of the week" and try something new all the time, but you also can't stick to "this is how we've always done it" and never make adjustments. Choose a happy medium between the two concepts. Let's talk about it on the SMH podcast today! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the Saturday Morning Hustle podcast.
