Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
We did it - our 500th episode!!! To celebrate this milestone we do what we do best - talk about Star Wars. We are so excited to take on one of our biggest discussions ever - comparing and contrasting all seven of the live action Star Wars Disney+ series. We go over the final confrontations, how each show progresses the world of Star Wars, how each series ended but left an opening for another season, and lots more. We look forward to seeing how your ranking compares to ours. Today in Star Wars History Cartoon Network airs the episode “Witches of the Mist” from Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Secrets Revealed Season Three. Written by Katie Lucas. FORTUNE COOKIE: “The path to evil may bring great power, but not loyalty.” In this episode, Ventress and Savage Opress attack Dooku but he gets away. Opress returns to Mother Talzin who tells him to find his long-lost and exiled brother who will teach him how to become a powerful warrior. With his mission set, Opress leaves. Talzin then turns to her crystal orb where a fractured image of Maul materializes. This was part of the arc that was shown at the touring Clone Wars screenings in 2011. This arc kicked off screening Star Wars television episodes at fan events. SPONSORS Small World Vacations is an official sponsor of Skywalking Through Neverland. CLONING IT IN: JUST THE GOOD ONES returns with the pivotal Savage Opress trilogy! Asajj Ventress has grown too powerful, and Palpatine decides she needs to go. After being left for dead, Ventress plants her seeds for revenge in a Dark Side monster called Savage Opress.
The Brothers discuss the second, third, and fourth seasons of The Clone wars. Therein they experience Savage Opress, more individual clones, the Night Sisters, the Death Watch, a trip to Heaven, Dooku voodoo, and the return of Darth Maul. There is a lot to unpack here. Recently on X - Twitter, there's a viral debate amongst the Star Wars community regarding Sabine Wren from the Ahsoka show who used the force, being in the same league as Savage Opress from the Clone Wars trained by Count Dooku! In tonight's livestream episode, we explored the intricate story of Darth Maul within the Star Wars universe.Dathomir: The Witches' PlanetDathomir, a mysterious planet located in the Outer Rim's Quelli sector, is known for its unique features. This remote world is illuminated by a red sun and characterized by a diverse terrain, including dense forests and murky swamps. However, its most intriguing aspect lies in its history.Centuries before the Clone Wars, Dathomir was home to a species known as the Fromprath. They were forcibly displaced from the planet by the Nightsisters, a group of powerful witches. These Nightsisters would later become integral to Maul's life.Mother Talzin: Leader of the NightsistersBorn on Dathomir, Mother Talzin emerged as a formidable figure among the Nightsisters and the Nightbrothers, the male Zabrak species native to Dathomir. Talzin's power lay in Nightsister magick, which even caught the attention of the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious.Talzin and Sidious: A Dark AllianceDarth Sidious, a master of dark side force powers, was drawn to Nightsister magick and visited Dathomir. He initially promised to make Talzin his apprentice but instead chose her son, Maul, as his own apprentice. This act of betrayal fueled Talzin's desire for revenge. The Rise and Fall of Darth MaulMaul, introduced in "The Phantom Menace," was trained by Sidious and became his apprentice. He engaged in an epic battle on Naboo, where he faced Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and was later defeated by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maul's return, marked by new mechanical legs and a thirst for vengeance, set the stage for further conflicts. The Shadow Collective and Maul's Quest for PowerMaul, now a self-proclaimed Sith Lord, took his brother Savage Opress as an apprentice, but their efforts to destroy Kenobi were thwarted. Maul later joined forces with the Death Watch, a militant Mandalorian group, and orchestrated the takeover of Mandalore. This ambitious journey also involved the acquisition of the legendary Darksaber.Mother Talzin's End and the Siege of MandaloreMaul's story continued in the Marvel Comics series "Maul: Son of Dathomir," but the end of Mother Talzin was imminent. Sidious, Count Dooku, and General Grievous set their sights on her, leading to a climactic showdown on Dathomir, with tragic consequences.Maul's reign on Mandalore came to an end, thanks to the heroic efforts of Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex, and the 501st Legion. His quest for power led him to form the criminal organization Crimson Dawn, marking another intriguing chapter in his dark journey.Maul and Kenobi: The Final ConfrontationFueled by years of revenge, Maul's last confrontation with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine is a gripping moment in the Star Wars saga. In a final duel, Kenobi's mastery of the Force prevails, bringing a dramatic end to Maul's tragic character arc.
Darth Maul and Savage Oppress are floating in a escape pod in space. A lightsaber cuts a hole in the hatch, but that's no lightsaber: it's a darksaber! We see Pre Vizsla and is that Bo-Katan?Deathwatch return to their camp and it's got a real master race vibe to it. Maul declares himself the true lord of the Sith so I think we can assume the Deathwatch base is on the planet Avignon. Pre and Maul then have a tea party. That's not even a joke.Maul decides to shake down the Black Sun syndicate (it's pronounced SheeZor). After some aggressive negotiations Maul has their loyalty. Maul says his Pre's, plans lack clarity, his Gantt charts are sloppy and his online PMP certification isn't from an accredited source. The Pyke Syndicate decides to volunteer instead of being conscripted. Maul tries the same tactic with the Hutts that he tried with Black Sun, but the Hutts have bounty hunters of their own: Dengar, Embo and some of our other B-list bounty hunters deliver a counter proposal via blaster fire.Next Maul plans to attack Mandalore, hitting key targets to sow distrust in Satine as a leader. The Pikes take over the shipping docks, the Black Sun Clan terrorizes the city center. Vizla “captures” Savage for show, and uses his new found popularity to take over Mandalore and imprison Satine. Vizla also captures Maul, not part of the plan. While in prison with Savage, Maul looks for a worthy successor to Satine/Vizla… and what better place to go shopping than a prison. He finds Almec, the former Prime Minister that Satine had jailed for… was it poisoning kids with watered down tea? With Almec in tow, Maul challenges Vizla to combat for leadership of Mandalore. After a lightsabery/darksabery/blastery/grenady/jet-packy/ropey/punchy/kicky fight, Maul beheads Vizla. Darksaber in hand, he claims the right to lead Mandalore. Bo-Katan and company will never accept an outsider as leader and escape after a firefight.Almec, in his new position of power, tells the public that Satine killed Vizla. Maul, while on his throne of lies, is happy to be playing puppetmaster. The kids from Season 3's “The Academy,” all aged 10 years somehow, stage a prison break to free Satine, along with Bo-Katan. The escape is short-lived, but Satine gets an emergency message to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Strangely, when he receives it at the Jedi Temple, it's a few sentences longer than the one we just saw her send. SpaceTime(tm) is weird.Because Mandalore is neutral, the Jedi Council will not act to help. Obi-Wan Kenobi will have to come to Satine's aid on his own. He walks into the prison and once more easily walks Satine out. They need better guards at this prison. Satine says her sister can help, but they are recaptured by Maul.Maul explains his plan isn't to kill Kenobi, but to make him suffer, then kills Satine with the darksaber in front of Obi-Wan. With her dying words, she says she has always loved him and always will. Maul orders Kenobi imprisoned to rot in his suffering. They take him to the prison, but he immediately is freed by Bo-katan and her men. Really, prison security is an issue. Obi-Wan realizes Bo-katan is the sister Satine mentions, and gives his condolences. Meanwhile, Darth Sidious, having sensed a disturbance in the force, has arrived on Mandalore in person to deal with his former apprentice. Sidious says Maul has become a rival. Maul, Savage, and Opress draw their sabers - Sidious kills Savage Opress in the fight but instead of ending Maul, reveals he has other uses for him as we reach THE END.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

As per usual, we discuss the characters in the Star Wars universe and then breakdown their unit and stance cards for Shatterpoint. The Dathomirian synergy is quite powerful and Talzin brings arguably one of the most powerful set of abilities to the game yet. Maul and Asajj are very happy, indeed. Welcome to Season 5, the season with no name! We begin with the radio announcer telling us that Maul and Opress have teamed up to do bad across the Outer Rim - so bad that they kill two Jedi in new footage during the opening montage! The brothers secure a pile of ill-gotten loot on Cybloc, where Maul also makes formal the fact that the Rule of Two is in effect, and that Savage is the junior member of the team. They then take their booty to Florrum, where the evil duo bribe a number of Hondo Ohnaka's gang to join up. The villains plot an attack on our...friend?.. Hondo for refusing to join as well. Obi-wan and Adi Gallia are on their trail, and make it to Florrum to join the fight. Sadly, Adi Gallia's Jedi Power Battles come to an end at the horns of Savage Opress. Kenobi and the Weequay retreat to the tunnels, where Kenobi offers to fight the Zabraks while Hondo collapses the tunnels to separate the Sith from his former pirate crew. Hondo readily agrees. A lightsaber battle rages! Kenobi gains the upper hand by disarming Savage; in the other tunnel, Hondo reconciles with the men who earlier betrayed him. The combined forces turn the tide of combat, and Maul and Opress are forced to flee the planet.Back on Coruscant, Kenobi demands further action against Maul, but Chancellor Palpatine and Master Yoda decide this is too personal for Kenobi, and the Separatists remain the real threat. They promise to take action against Maul if he pops his antlered dome up in the future. As the Jedi depart, we zoom in on Palpatine smirking at how this is all going, and we reach THE END. https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm
We open on a menacing RED title card and the Radio Announcer reminds us of Savage Opress' creation, rise, and betrayal of Dooku and Asajj Ventress, plus his new mission: to find his brother, Darth Maul. Dooku and Grievous discuss the rise of something sinister and we cut to Savage terrorizing a Waffle House at a spaceport, where some special dust-laden cargo leads him to a spaceship he commandeers to take him to a planet he believes his brother is on.Anakin and Ahsoka show up at the diner, just to eat, but a lingering darkness like a distant fart tells Anakin something foul is nearby.Sir Hiss shows up to guide Savage through his destination planet, but leads him to a trap as an offering to an old legend "BELOW”... Who turns out to be Darth Maul, now with his bottom half resembling a robotic Shelob from LOTR, his horns grown out, and his mind driven crazy by the isolation; but all the while holding one thought: REVENGE.Yoda and Obi-Wan sense this awakening... as we come to The End.Another red title card before our Jedi Fortune Cookie "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". The Radio Announcer tells us Maul has been taken back to Mother Talzin. Still messed up in the head, Savage leaves Maul on the ship to find Talzin, and discovers the slaughter of the Nightsisters. Talzin reaches into Maul's mind to pull out his proverbial demons while also giving him new legs to replace the cobbled-together spider legs he had made himself.Maul slaughters innocents and broadcasts it to the Jedi and tells them that Obi-Wan must come alone. Yoda lets him go alone, but senses an unlikely ally will aid him... Asajj Ventress (who just learned of the bounty on Savage's head).Obi-Wan, getting his butt kicked by the horned brothers, is saved when Savage shows up. The four duel it out, but Asajj and Obi-Wan are outmatched and escape. Maul decides that patience is a virtue, and he will be counting on the jedi to try to track him down.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm
With today's episode, we bring The Clone Wars Season 4 to an end and kick Season 5 off with, if not a bang, then at least the death of a somewhat major Jedi. Our Favorite Zabrak, Savage Opress (ugh) is back! And this time, he's got a brother turned partner in crime turned abusive boss. While these eps do have some low lows, they also have a few extremely high highs: A diner, a warehouse worker who steals our heart, an Obi-Wan/Ventress flirt-a-thon, and... finally... at least some of our hearts melting for a fan favorite character we have really hated up until now. The Clone Wars so far has been a series of appetizers, but with the Nightsisters Arc (3.12–14) we're getting filet mignon, baybee! As Assajj and her witchy sisters plan vengeance on Count Dooku, we're introduced to Anna's big sad baby, Savage Opress — and then things get spooky, y'all. We talk about Star Wars steroids, the Rule of Two, identity erasure, unexplainable magic, and the moment when female power meets manipulation. Watching along with us? The Dooku/Ventress/Talzin/Savage (am I missing anyone?) arc wraps up with Witches of The Mist (S3 E14). This episode features some seriously grim moments involving our beloved Toydarian King, Kotuunko (spelling? too lazy to even google right now). Savage continues to get strong, Dooku continues to have a strong landscaping game, Mother Talzin continues to scheme, Clapper continues to watch from afar, and Obi-Wan continues to be a fancy lad. Also, Savage Opress flies around in a ship that looks like an anal fleshlight. The Nightsisters arc continues with S3 E13 "Monster" and this one is real treat. We get introduced a brand new Zabrak, Savage Opress, Ventress gets even darker, Dooku plays the fool, and Mother Talzin gets handy. Adam and Tom also start to sort through a droid gender controversy that is only a controversy to them as Tom begins to wonder if they have been misgendering droids, Tom also plays some shitty 70's song like 10 times in this episode, and Adam does something very offensive (jk, he doesn't, just needed to put something in for him in the description) Feel free to reach out to us at clonecastpod@gmail.com Follow us on Instagram/twitter @clonecastpod Please rate us 5 stars and and leave a review on Apple Podcasts or your platform of choice! Before Ahsoka, before Cad Bane, before Savage Opress, Pre Vizsla & the Darksaber...there was Durge. ARC Troopers were made, not earned, Force Powers were only limited by imagination & Grievous was unstoppable. That’s right, this week we’re talking Genndy Tartakovsky’s “Clone Wars”!
The five episodes the clone wars plot recap podcast is about this week are Monster, Witches of the Mist, Overlords, Altar of Mortis, and Ghosts of Mortis. The clone wars added many characters to the star wars canon in these episodes of season 3 of clone wars including Savage Opress, the daughter, the son, and the father. Plus an exciting return of Liam Neeson as Qui Gon Jin. Intro - 0:00S3E13 - Monster 7:20When Count Dooku calls upon the Nightsisters seeking a replacement for Ventress, she and her kin seize the opportunity to exact revenge. Ventress visits the far side of Dathomir and the males of the planet seeking the most brutal and powerful warrior among them. Talzin has Asajj secretly select a warrior from the distant Nightbrother village: Savage Opress. With the power of dark magic, Talzin transforms Savage into a hulking warrior ultimately loyal to Asajj. S3E14 - Witches of the Mist 15:60Anakin and Obi-Wan, sent to track down the mysterious figure behind the deaths of several Jedi, soon find themselves on the trail of the monstrous apprentice that Ventress has created: Savage Opress, who has been trained in the ways of the Sith by Dooku. When Opress returns to Count Dooku after an unsuccessful assignment, Ventress strikes. With Opress at her side, she attacks Dooku. Opress' loyalty is fleeting, however, and Dooku and Ventress discover that this new apprentice has a will of his own. S3E15 - Overlords 21:13A mysterious force draws Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka to a distant planet, and its inhabitants -- a family of exceptionally powerful Force-wielders -- in an attempt to determine whether Anakin is truly the Chosen One. The patriarch of this family, known only as the Father, has spent ages maintaining the balance between his Daughter, who is strong with the light side of the Force, and his Son, who aligns with the dark. The Father reveals his days are numbered, and he seeks Anakin to take his place as the fulcrum of this balance. S3E16 - Altar of Mortis 28:42Before the Jedi can leave Mortis, the Son takes Ahsoka captive in an attempt to entice Anakin into joining him to use their combined strength to overpower his Father and Sister. To this end, the Son casts Ahsoka under the spell of the dark side. Meanwhile, the Father attempts to stave off a disastrous showdown between his children and maintain the Force's increasingly precarious balance on the planet. Fearing that the Son may be unstoppable, the Daughter does the forbidden by taking Obi-Wan Kenobi to the Altar of Mortis, wherein is kept the Dagger of Mortis, a weapon capable of killing a Force-wielder. S3E17 - Ghosts of Mortis 31:57The Jedi remain stranded on Mortis, and the Son, aligned with the dark side of the Force, renews his efforts to convert Anakin as the Jedi prepare for a decisive confrontation. Anakin is stunned by images of his dark future. The Son promises him the power to avert this destiny. The Father recognizes that the Son has broken the rules of time. He wipes Anakin's memory of these future visions, and steals the Mortis Dagger to end the conflict. The Father impales himself, thus preventing the Son from stealing his power. The Son, stunned by this, is run through by Anakin. With all three Force-wielders destroyed, the imbalance in the Force disappears on Mortis. As far as television goes, "The Lawless" is the final appearance of Maul in the Clone Wars - it's episode 16 from season 5, and the final episode in this story arc as well. We've seen how Maul assembled his criminal syndicate, and we've seen how he took over Mandalore and installed a puppet government. Now, in this final installment, we'll see his attempt to revenge himself upon Obi-Wan Kenobi! He'll also get a surprise visit from his old master, Darth Sidious - and man, that doesn't go well at all for him and Savage Opress. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! With Maul and Mandalore being the focus of the final story arc of the Clone Wars, we're taking some time to look back at how Maul came to power. Today, that means we're doing a Clone Wars Briefing on "Shades of Reason," episode 15 from season 5 of the Clone Wars and the second of a three-part story arc. In the first episode, Maul and Savage Opress were rescued by Death Watch, and proceeded to use their surprise Mandalorian saviors to strong-arm the Pykes, Black Sun, and the Hutts to help them. Now, with an army and ample supplies, they hatch the plot - make it look like criminals are overrunning the now-peaceful Mandalore, and then have Death Watch arrive to "save the day." Well, the Duchess Satine sees right through this, accusing Pre Vizsla immediately upon his arrival of being behind the criminal attacks. For all the good it did her. We'll talk about all of that, plus the race to see who can double-cross whom first, and how it all shakes out. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Join the community at http://Patreon.com/sw7x7 to get access to bonus episodes and other insider rewards.***
Season 7, episode 10 of the Clone Wars, "The Phantom Apprentice," has seen the capture of Maul and the end of his reign on Mandalore - or has it? Well, while we wait for episode 11 to see how that shakes out, we're going back in time to look at just how Maul came to power. The last time we saw him, he and Savage Opress were much the worse for wear - the events of "Revival" (episode 1 from season 5) had him without a leg, Savage without an arm, and floating adrift in space. Well, they didn't show up again in the series until episode 14, "Eminence." Lucky for them, too, as they were on the edge of death when the Mandalorian Pre Viszla and members of Death Watch stumbled upon them. And it seemed lucky for Death Watch as well. They made a deal with Maul and Savage, to overthrow the Duchess Satine and destroy Obi-Wan Kenobi in the process. Well, if there's one thing we know about making deals with Sith lords, it's that the deals get worse all the time. And we'll talk about that, as well as the beginnings of Maul's "Shadow Collective" crime syndicate, as we discuss "Eminence," which is the first of a three-part story arc. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Join the community at http://Patreon.com/sw7x7 to get access to bonus episodes and other insider rewards.***
We're about to spend time with Darth Maul again! Somehow that rascal managed to survive getting cut in half at the end of The Phantom Menace, and - overachiever that he is - wound up in control of Mandalore! But how did it happen? There are three Clone Wars story arcs that deal specifically with Maul between those two points in time, and as we head into the final stretch with the series, I'm going to go back and explore those arcs in between the final episodes. Today, we're looking at "Brothers," which is the 21st episode from season 4 of the series, and the first of a three part story arc. This is the episode where - spoiler alert - Savage Opress finally finds Maul, after being sent on the hunt for him way back in the middle of season 3. And Maul has been losing his mind, not in a good way, but meeting Savage brings a sharp focus to Maul that reverberates throughout the galaxy. Literally. Multiple characters feel something "sinister" happening, and all the foreshadowing finally comes to pass. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! It's the final arc of Season 4 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and as Filoni and company always do, they pull out all stops to end on a high note, often bringing back a character from the film series. For Season 4, that character is the long-teased return of Darth Maul and a story that continues the plot threads begun in the Savage Opress arc well over a year ago. Asajj Ventress has returned to Dathomir, pursued by General Grievous and his battle droids. Action, betrayal, and zombie nightsisters oh my! Listen to Arnie, Nathan, Jerry, and Dan's review now!

When Count Dooku calls upon the Nightsisters seeking a replacement for Ventress, she and her kin seize the opportunity to exact revenge. She then delivers Opress to Dooku, where he will serve as his secret Sith apprentice in a plot to overthrow Darth Sidious.
Republic Forces Radio Network -- A Star Wars Clone Wars Podcast
If this were the start of a Clone Wars episode, we might hear it start with Tom Kane saying "Midway into Season 3 of Star Wars The clone Wars and things are not going well for our heroes! With ratings down 25% and a slew of political episodes making even the most die hard Clone Wars fans cranky! Now, a surprising move as Lucasfilm previews three episodes at a one-time theater event! Written by Katie Lucas, this introduces a new series villain, the Zabrack Savage Opress!" And truly, with this event, held for press as well as for select fans, and used as a charity opportunity to collect toys, this feels like a make-or-break time for the Star Wars Clone Wars series. Republic Forces Radio Network's Arnie was on hand to watch the three Savage Opress episodes, as well as the montage previewing the rest of Season 3.
