In this episode of Geek Freaks Headlines, we're breaking down the official reveal of 007: First Light, the upcoming James Bond video game from Hitman developers IO Interactive. We cover everything shown during the PlayStation State of Play, including the new take on Bond's origin, the gameplay mechanics that echo Hitman's best elements, and how this could be a testing ground for a reboot of the Bond franchise. Plus, we draw parallels to the success of Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and what a video game-first strategy might mean for James Bond's future across media.Timestamps and Topics:00:00:00 Introduction and Announcement of 007: First Light00:00:07 Bond's Origin Story: 26-Year-Old Agent from the Royal Navy00:00:12 Lennie James Rumored as Bond's Mentor Figure00:00:25 Gameplay Variety: Choose Your Bond Style00:00:31 Hitman Influence and IO Interactive's Approach00:00:34 Standalone Story: Not Based on Any Movie00:00:43 Testing Ground for Bond Reboot via Gaming00:00:55 Video Game Characters Leading to Bigger Franchises00:01:05 Coming to All Major Platforms, Including Switch 2Key Takeaways:007: First Light is a full origin story, showing Bond before his iconic status.IO Interactive brings their Hitman expertise, offering flexible mission playstyles. The game's Bond isn't tied to any actor or movie continuity.Lennie James may be featured in a key role, possibly as Bond's handler. This could serve as a soft launchpad for a new Bond continuity. The game will be available on all major platforms, including Switch 2.Similar to how Cal Kestis won over Star Wars fans, this game could build strong support for a new Bond.Quotes:"This is going to be an origin story for Bond… playing him as a 26-year-old agent just recruited into MI6.""You could be the Pierce Brosnan sneaky Bond, the Daniel Craig punch-you-in-the-face Bond, or the Sean Connery charm-your-way-in Bond.""To me, the Star Wars I want most is the one with Cal Kestis. That's because I fell in love with the character through the video game."Call to Action:If you're excited for this fresh take on James Bond, don't miss an episode of Geek Freaks Headlines. Thanks in large part to my Star Wars rewatch journey of 2025, but also because I overall enjoyed my time with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, I returned to Cal Kestis and his adventures in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While a lot of things are the same, there are key differences that make Survivor feel like its own game, including much larger and open areas, fast travel (thank god), and a better and more interesting cast of characters, as well as just a fleshing out the characters we met in Fallen Order. We'll see if Survivor manages to top Fallen Order when all is said and done, but, for now, so far so good.

Hell there, Star Wars fans! Welcome to episode 234.We kick off with the future of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, sparked by Ewan McGregor's recent remarks about potential storylines for a second season. The hosts reflect on the original series' reception, noting that while many fans appreciated McGregor's return, others felt the series fell short of expectations. This dichotomy sets the stage for an exploration of how future content can better resonate with the audience while remaining faithful to the established lore. We also touch on the intricacies of storytelling, emphasising that any new series should not simply rehash past narratives but should instead build upon them, enriching the characters' journeys and deepening the emotional stakes.Other news throughout the galaxy:We pay tribute to the late Robert Watts, acknowledging his contributions to the original trilogy and the importance of recognising his behind-the-scenes talent that shaped the Star Wars legacy. An upcoming documentary on John Williams has us excited, discussing how his musical genius has elevated the storytelling of Star Wars and other iconic films.A couple of amazing props are going up for auction next week in London including a screen-matched Sandtrooper helmet from the icon "Move along" scene as well as Yoda's cane. Oof, if only we had a recent lottery win!Fans have got their knickers in a twist as actor Will Poulter would throw his hat in for the live casting of Cal Kestis. Yep, fandom, lol.Lastly, we tackle the tantalising idea of adapting the Clone Wars into a live-action format, a prospect that excites some fans while raising concerns for others. Could an adaptation live up to the beloved animated series while focusing on the darker, more brutal aspects of war that defined the Clone Wars? There's the potential for exploring character relationships, particularly the dynamics between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padmé, as well as the emotional fallout from the choices they make. The news stories from around the galaxy that we discussed on this episode...Iconic ‘Star Wars' Helmet Could Be The Memorabilia You're Looking For"It would be so disrespectful not to cast him": Will Poulter Was Never the Best Choice to Play Cal Kestis as Fans Demand Cameron Monaghan to Make His Live Action Star Wars DebutEwan McGregor Says Disney & Lucasfilm Are "Exploring" Ideas For 'Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi' Season 2Music by John Williams | Official Trailer | Disney+ - Jedi NewsLucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy Pays Tribute to Robert Watts - Jedi NewsAbout Spark of Rebellion:This is Spark of Rebellion, the weekly Star Wars podcast for casual fans and veterans alike. We are your hosts, Garry and Mark and every single Saturday we release a brand new episode bringing you the latest news, reviews & discussion on all things Star Wars. This week Andrew brings a very interesting word to the show! Ben is up for the challenge, but first he has a review of Trombone Champ! Then the hosts dive right into the discussion starting with literature… Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, and Star Wars by George Lucas. Coincidentally, Ben gets to talk about his biggest “Jedi: Fallen Order,” pet peeves, but then they chat briefly about constitutional law. In the “official” video games segment, Ben shares the strange development story of “The Day Before” and the numerous equivocations therein. In closing, Andrew talks about a cola marketing scam, and Ben unintentionally alienates the 2VP audience and possibly Andrew. 00:00:21 - Video GAMES, a cliffhanger, dream feeding, and the lamest form of time traveling 00:04:55 - Ben's Trombone Champ review start, complicated math, and Dan's trombone idea 00:09:38 - The narrative of Trombone Champ, “Funiculì, Funiculà,” and amazing audiovisuals 00:13:02 - Time to toot, gilding and “turd-ing,” secrets, inner 9 year olds, and a review closing 00:19:19 - Not equivocating, the definition, in Swedish, and affordable furniture solutions 00:21:38 - Spirit of exploration, Oedipus' road rage, and Andrew's Magic 8 Ball equivocation 00:24:49 - Prophecy details, the swollen foot baby, full of irony, and a bit of a cougar 00:29:09 - The Porter, “nose-painting, sleep, and urine,” 3 witches, and Macbeth vs Macduff 00:33:06 - Obi-Wan equivocates about Vader, retroactive continuity, and Luke and Leia kiss 00:36:17 - Ben talks about “Jedi: Fallen Order,” Cal Kestis, and a plethora of ponchos 00:41:48 - Ewan McGregor noises, acting with tennis balls, and a different century's president 00:45:17 - Paying for a wall with hurt feelings, on a spectrum, and Ben's playful equivocation 00:48:41 - The legal profession, for justice or money, and Ben's looking at you Congress! 00:50:30 - Stuart, brief entomology, the Establishment Clause of the 1st, and Pueblo Colorado 00:55:46 - Line crossing, the story of “The Day Before,” and the Steam page is actually gone 01:02:01 - Andrew recounts the “New Coke” marketing scheme and resulting equivocations 01:05:42 - Not the “Classic, Classic Coke,” lawyers and politicians, and equivocating felines Ben's Trombone Champ Review Highlights Story / Narrative - SN - (8) - You are on a quest to become the Trombone Champ by tooting your trombone, learning about and pledging allegiance to baboons, collecting and trading Trombone Champ cards, meeting strange characters, and laughing a bunch. Audiovisuals - AV - (10) - From the character models, to the song selection, the UI which looks like something you would see on a “Dance, Dance Revolution” arcade machine, to the amazing song recording quality, to the background animations while you are “tooting”, to the satirical poke a EA Sports Games micro-transaction card collection graphics… Trombone Champ is perfectly executed in this area. Game Mechanics - GM - (9) - Nothing new here, BUT the game mechanics are finely tuned and nostalgically fun. Choose your trombone style, sound scheme, and “tomboner,” your song, and then it's time to TOOT! You play notes by pressing a key on the keyboard, and you use the pad to control the target reticle vertically on a line on the left side of the screen. You follow the note prompts as they scroll in from the right with key presses and mousepad movements and are rated on accuracy with “Perfectos,” “OKs,” “Nices,” “Mehs,” and “Nasties.” As you string your successes together your “CHAMP” meter fills and your multiplier builds. Once you have the meter filled completely, a celebratory airhorn sounds off; the longer you keep the “CHAMP” active, the more points you score for notes and combos. Based on your score at the end of each song, you earn “toot coins” which you can use to buy sacks of 4 cards to gather for your collection. If you have an excess of cards you can exchange them for turds, which you can use to buy the cards you are missing. Collect 10 of single card and you can “engoldenate” it so all future versions of that card you receive from a sack will be the gold version (worth more toot coins and turds). There are hidden secrets to unlock: avatars, trombones, and sound schemes (including a fart one), AND the “true ending…” becoming the fabled Trombone Champ of legend! Ben's FINAL VERDICT (aka the MATH) for Holy Wow Studios' “Trombone Champ!” (10 * .20) + (9 * .35) + (8 * .45) = 8.75 out of 10… things! UP A near perfect parody AND celebration of rhythm games Incredibly customizable settings let you play the way you want An amazingly diverse selection of incredibly well done songs DOWN There are a couple annoying mechanics, specifically the 100 clicks later in the game when searching for the “hidden boss.” DO BUY AND PLAY… If you or your family enjoys rhythm or music games, or if you just want to laugh Follow Andrew / Partly Robot Industries on… His website: https://partlyrobot.com/ On Instagram: https://instagram.com/partlyrobot On TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@partlyrobot On Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/partlyrobot Follow Two Vague on… Our website: https://www.twovaguepodcast.com On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/two_vague_podcast On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@twovaguepodcast On X-Twitter: https://twitter.com/TwoVaguePodcast For show appearance and other inquiries, contact us at: twovaguepodcast@gmail.com References and Hashtags: Trombone Champ links - https://www.vecchitto.design/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1059990/Trombone_Champ/ https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/trombone-champ-switch/ #Podbean #DIYPodcast #ApplePodcast #VideoGames #Trivia #Comedy #Talkshow #Kickstarter #Partlyrobot #2VP #TwoVaguePodcast #HolyWowStudios #TromboneChamp #TheDeadMilkmen #Stuart

Cere Junda herself is here today, from the beloved games Jedi: Fallen Order & Jedi: Survivor! Debra Wilson spoke to Austin and Scotty about her personal connection to the force, and how it's much more like a religion to her than anything else. Debra also revealed that she made it her life's destiny to work with Mark Hamill one day, manifesting it through the force when they got to work together on Mad TV. Finally, Debra gushed over Cameron Monaghan as Cal Kestis, and their friendship both on and off-screen (or video game?). Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. It was a significant week in MCU news. Marvel Studios officially cast the Fantastic Four, which they revealed in a Valentine's Day Instagram post. Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn is our Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach will portray Ben Grimm, and Pedro Pascal has taken on the role of Reed Richards. The studio also updated release dates for both Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts with Thunderbolts moved up to May 2, 2025, and Fantastic Four pushed back to July 25, 2025. Dune Part 2 held its world premiere in London last week, bringing several valuable nuggets of information to the surface in addition to showcasing some truly out-of-this-world fashion. Most surprisingly, Anya Taylor-Joy was in attendance, confirming her unknown participation in the sequel, while she disclosed her character to those in attendance, it has not yet been officially announced. Following the premiere, first reactions to the film hit the internet, with overwhelming positivity and praise, citing it as superior to the first installment and lauding it as a sci-fi masterpiece. Star Wars seems all in on video game expansion of the saga's lore this week, with developer of Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, Respawn Entertainment, reported to be in the early stages of creating a first-person Mandalorian bounty hunter video game. This news was coupled with comments from Cameron Monaghan, the actor who provides the likeness, voice and motion capture for Cal Kestis, the protagonist of Respawn's Star Wars games, who said he'd be open to portraying the character in live action under the right circumstances. Madame Web released in theaters last week and with a $26.2 million six-day haul, C+ CinemaScore, and a 13 percent critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the reception across the board is downright pitiful. The performance is not entirely unexpected, as the film has been saddled with a laughable marketing campaign and disparaging comments from Madame Web herself, Dakota Johnson. This seems to mark a new low for high profile comic book adaptations. Oppenheimer dominated the 2024 BAFTAS Sunday evening, winning seven awards. Other notable winners include both Poor Things for Special Effects and The Zone of Interest for Sound. Judalina Neira(knee-ra), executive producer on season four of The Boys and Gen V, will write and produce a reboot of Bewitched for Sony. Joker: Folie à Deux director Todd Phillips posted 3 photos featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in character, also commenting that an official trailer for the Joker follow-up is expected in mid-April. Netflix announced the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy will begin streaming on August 8. Marvel Studios released the highly anticipated first teaser trailer for X-Men '97, a direct sequel to X-Men: The Animated Series premiering March 20 on Disney + Warner Brothers released a new trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, set to hit theaters on March 29. Amazon dropped a trailer for Season Two Part Two of Invincible, which consists of four episodes and begins streaming on March 14. A teaser trailer has been released for the upcoming Borderlands movie. The film, which is based on the popular video game series, stars Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Bobby Lee and is set to hit theaters on August 9th. A full trailer will be released on Wednesday. There is a lot of excitement around the rumor that Henry Cavill has signed on with Marvel Studios for an undisclosed role. Sony Pictures and Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes have set plans to make four separate films for theatrical release, one focusing on each member of The Beatles. The films will be interconnected and tell each band member's point of view. Mark Ruffalo clarified previous comments, telling fans he would in fact not appear in Captain America: Brave New World.

Kenobi show will be the darkest Star Wars show to date. The reason for this is because it's set in the most dark time of the galaxy. The emperor and Vader rule the cosmos now 10 years after revenge of the Sith so this isn't the early stages of the empire turning the tide of the republic like we saw in the bad batch, Palpatine's reign is now quite actualized. Cal Kestis's story picks up 5 years after Jedi Fallen Order, which originally took place 5 years after revenge of the Sith. There aren't any rebels around as prominent as there were in rogue one. Vader's mask has already inflicted fear across the galaxy and at this point he's quite well known. The inquisitors are also veterans now in their role in the empire and they have grown with power while lost numbers as time as gone on. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
I'd love to see the second sister return some day. Heck, if Reva survived twice, so can the Second Sister, Trilla...maybe? lol Vader put an end to both of them, but one I'd really like to see in live action is the 9th sister. I wonder if we'll ever see Cal Kestis in live action someday. I was hoping we'd see him in the obi-wan kenobi show, but most likely not. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Jedi Survivor 3 / Fallen Order 3 / JEDI is finally underway with new recruits being searched for. I hope the final installment shows Cal Kestis go to the dark side a bit more and then to find his balance in the force, using all sides of it, for good. I hope Bode's daughter will be trained by Cal and Merrin who go off to learn more about the Night Sisters and star wars magic. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
All of season 2 has revolved around the Jedi and reuniting Grogu with them. With boba, bo katan and Ashoka showing up, I can't imagine who will arrive next. While I want to see Luke Skywalker again more than anything, I have to say one Jedi I do think could answer the call from Grogu on Tython is Cal Kestis. There are a few reasons that he in particular might come, and I think it'll make a lot of sense once you reach the end of my explanations. Cal Kestis was a Jedi who survived order 66, this puts him as a possible candidate for knowing who Grogu was, especially seeing as how he was quite young when it happened, around the age of 12. Which makes him 17 once fallen order happens, which is 5 years after revenge of the Sith. I don't think he was the one who saved Grogu, but they might have known each other, and shared a strong connection. Cal had a power called Psychometry. This was a super rare ability granted to very few Jedi. One other Jedi who had this, was Quinlan Voss who used it in the clone wars. Psychometry is the power of seeing the history of an object upon first touching it. If Cal were to sense the familiarity of Grogu's presence reaching out on the seeing stone in the force, he would answer the call. He'd arrive on Tython and even though the dark troopers took Grogu to Moff Gideon, and Mando Boba and Fennec had left, all he'd need to do was touch the seeing stone to get a flash of everything that had just happened there. He'd see and feel what Grogu saw and felt. He would go over to the crater of the Razor crest's remains, and he would touch the scorched earth, only to feel who destroyed the ship that belonged to Din Djarrin. He would sense the urgency of the matter, and he would answer the call of duty. Another reason it could be Cal, is because Jedi Fallen order ended in the beautiful realization that force sensitive children who escaped Order 66 are still out there in the galaxy, and Jedi Fallen Order 2 will basically be that story of him finding these lost younglings and padawans throughout the galaxy. Cal's Jedi Master, who unfortunately died, while protecting the young Cal Kestis from the clone troopers, a Lasat male named Jaro Tapal, taught his padawan how to be courageous and focus on the good things in the galaxy, but also how to embrace failure as a learning opportunity. Because of his Master's teaching, Cal spends his time helping others and trusting in the Force which is what lead him to Jedi Knight Cere Junda and her mission to secretly restore the Jedi Order. Morgan Elsbeth. During the Clone Wars, her people were massacred. She survived, and let her anger fuel an industry which helped build the Imperial Starfleet. She plundered worlds, destroying them in the process. Could she be in charge of some line of the Kuat Drive Yards. Now check this, one of the artists who did Inosanto's hair and makeup was done by Maria Sandoval. According to Sandoval, Elsbeth was one of the last survivors of Dathomir. Dathomir played a large chapter in Jedi Fallen Order with Merrin. Merrin must have known Elsbeth as well. There are a lot of connections between these people in such a large galaxy that makes me really think Cal could actually show up. Grogu sits on the seeing stone, which lights up in the ancient runes that we see all throughout Jedi Fallen Order. Like was Grogu saving his progressing and adding to his skill tree atop the stone? The lore being used is one and the same I think, so it actually makes me think, Cal might be just as logical of a Jedi to arrive, than Luke. In fact, maybe even more logical. He could show up in the end, only to help save the day, and name drop master Skywalker, who has sent him to recruit lost force sensitives throughout the galaxy. The only problem is, they'll have to kill Cal Kestis off before the sequels start, otherwise it'd be too weird with him not around if he ends up being part of the story. Here's a Recap of The Bad Batch Season 1 The Bad Batch episode 7 was AMAZING!!! This one felt like old Clone Wars with a better animation style. I loved Rex returning, it was such a nice touch. Seeing Wrecker go through Order 66 was terrifying, and showed us he is the most lethal Clone Trooper and member of The Bad Batch. Seeing Bracca was interesting, as this could lead into some tie-in for Cal Kestis from Jedi Fallen Order. I think the Scrap yard guild will notify the empire which will lead to Crosshair hunting the Bad Batch down, possibly with Vader coming in the picture at the end (I think that would be epic). The boys also know how to deactivate Order 66 now that Rex has taught him, so maybe they'll go after Crosshair to save him. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
