In the online space we are used to being told online to share your stories, but if we haphazardly apply it, we soon learn that it isn't enough without a strategy behind it. I made the mistake of trying to build relatability with stories that didn't ultimately further my business goals. Fortunately, we can improve how we use stories by adding checkpoints in your podcasting process and taking the time to ask "What is my listener getting out of this story?" and "What is the goal of me sharing this story?". Through this, you'll be able to create a successful podcast that provides value to your listeners and convert to your business goals. In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. Discover how to strategically use stories in your podcast while avoiding oversharing and protect your brand. 2. Uncover how to refine stories to make sure they are relevant to your business and audience. 3. Find out how to create a podcast that converts without being stressful. Do you ever find yourself saying do as I say, not as I do to your clients, to your different providers, to even your contractors? That is something I found myself saying a little bit too often and not lovin'it. So this episode is going to be all about practicing what we preach and I'm so excited to bring it to you today. I'm taking a break from podcast production to reflect on some areas where I haven't been following my own process and how I can remedy that. The areas I cover in today's episode are: 1. Pre-recording episodes to avoid panic recording 2. Taking the time to properly outline each episode 3. Taking season breaks to reflect and improve the quality of the podcast The quality of my show is only going to skyrocket when I come back, so please check out the previous 70 episodes in the meantime. It is so liberating to admit when we're feeling low energy or when we don't feel like showing up all the time. Recently, I've been feeling low energy and it's been affecting my ability to post on social media or even just go on my Instagram stories. I know that I'm not the only one who goes through these cycles and I don't want to shame myself for it. If anything, I want to be honest about it and remind people that this is normal. So I've been managing my low energy by continuing to reduce the resistance I have in terms of recording my podcast. I also make sure that my show gives me room to be human. And finally, I repurpose and leverage this incredible podcast. "We have to allow for these moments." Sometimes we just want someone to tell us what to do, wave a magic wand, and make our business successful. I did and still do at times. This led me to outsource my decision-making to coaches in the past. I wanted someone to come in, tell me step 1-5, and then pat me on the back for being a "good business owner." Spoiler: It left me completely disempowered and I ended up hating my business. Today I'll tell you that story and what I ask myself to avoid this in any future investments. The previous episode of all the investments I've made in business: 54. Working Your Way Toward Bigger Investments (I Invested More In May 2022 Than Ever Before)

We are encouraged to define our why every day as entrepreneurs. We are asked why we want what we want, what we're going to do once we get it, and what we're going to do right after. We always say, “of course, I want this!” but then we get in our own way. We procrastinate, we doubt, we don't go for it, we hold back. So I've started asking “why don't I want this?” instead to explore what's really going on for me. This is an incredibly powerful journaling exercise I encourage you to try for yourself. "Authority," "Community," "Value," "Streamline," and "ROI." These words have real concrete definitions, but when we start using them in every single post, story, sales page, and conversation without knowing precisely what we want to convey, the words turn into mush. They obscure our message and muddy our points. I've been struggling with this a lot recently, as have my clients, so I want to bring this topic to you today. Let me know what buzzwords and jargon you're sick of in your industry by DMing me @IsaMediaInc on Instagram. 7-day challenge here, 15-day feat there, 30-day challenge everywhere - these types of programs are everywhere, and often they're great! However, they might not be the fix you actually need in your business. They look sexy, they are great headlines, and announcing them on social feels AWESOME! But, they aren't meant to be sustainable long-term solutions, which is what we should really be after. So, tune in to this episode to hear what challenges have lured me in, which I'm deciding to try, and which I'm adapting to fit in the long-run. Referenced in this episode: Identity Based Goals: 6.
