Lots of things happen in life and, over time, they tend to pile up. We end up feeling sad, stressed, defeated, and deprived. Why does life have to be like this? This week we'll study a Gospel passage that teaches us what to do when we feel that way. It's a passage that reminds us of the single most powerful spiritual practice ever. Do you know what it is? This is Part 3 of our sermon series called “How to Keep Your Sanity in a Mad, Mad World.”
Nothing challenges our serenity – and sanity – quite like human conflict. You know the feeling. Someone does something really rotten and anger burns inside us, disrupting body, mind, and soul. This week we'll study a Gospel passage where Jesus tells us how we can put out the fire in our soul and regain our serenity when someone does us wrong. This is Part 2 in our sermon series called “How to Keep Your Sanity in a Mad, Mad World.”
Life is so full of stress and never-ending demands. Do this! Do that! No, do this over here – and hurry up! It never lets up – and in the process we become frazzled, stressed, and pulled in a million different directions. For the next three weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, Pastor Jeff will do a mini-series called: How to Keep Your Sanity in a Mad, Mad World. We'll explore three key spiritual practices for maintaining our balance in life.

Last week we talked about finding joy in this crazy season and today I want to talk about keeping our sanity and closing out the year strong! It's so important for us to be reminded how we need to take care of ourselves. We can burn out so quickly if we arent paying attention to our self care! And when I say self care I dont' mean going to get pedis or massages(althought those are nice) I'm talking about really taking care of ourselves so we can be the best version of our selves and show up well for our families and God! We always tell our kids- who are we representing and the answer is God, our family and ourselves. We want to represent those things well and we can only do that IF we take cafe of ourselves by doin these few things on the regular!Get outside- especially when it's sunny! We need the vitamin D Exercise- Go for a walk, lift some weights, get your heart rate up. So health benefits for moving our bodies. Also, side note not just working out but actually moving throughout the day. I've learned I need to set timers otherwise I can end up sitting and working for hours without moving- sometimes the only thing that reminds me to get up is when I have to pee hahaha And usualy i'm annoyed i have to stop doing what I'm doing…mostly cause I dont' wnat to lose my train of thought…which happens so frequently these days!- getting older lolSpeak affirmations- speaking truth over ourselves is so important! Use scripture to help you with this! Remember I have an affirmation journal available with my christian woman digital bundle! Check out the link in shownotes or go to my IG….PRAY and SPEND TIME WITH JESUS- talk about this alot so I wont' go into too much depth…but the BEST way to take care of ourselves is to prioritize time with Jesus. Period. Receive the grace that Jesus offers and forgive yourself.Nothing is perfect. Nothing WILL be perfect. Let go of those unnecessary expectations! If we let go of those expectations we are less likely to lose it when it doesn't go the way you planned! BUT if you end up losing it alittle(cause let's be honest it's bound to happen lol) then remember that you can walk in the grace that Jesus offers. Bring your crazy to Him, ask for forgiveness and walk in freedom. Oh and if you accept HIS forgiveness then you need to forgive yourself as well :) You aren't made to do EVERYTHING right and perfectly!Talk to people about Jesus with others/have community- no isolation! There is something special about talking about jesus…share more on this!Christian Women Digital Bundle!- https://stan.store/mrsangelapitnikoff/p/grab-the-awesome-digital-bundleBe encouraged, challenged and blessed today!!✨Come hang with me on IG- https://www.instagram.com/mrsangelapitnikoff/✨Join our FB sisterhood!- https://www.facebook.com/groups/kingdomdaughterssisterhood✨Be more amazing and leave a review!- https://lovethepodcast.com/LoHGyj✨Want some fun free resources? Ever had one of those moments where you just couldn't take it anymore? You literally lose your sh*t – because you failed to set (and protect) your boundaries. In this episode, I spill the beans on my recent meltdown (complete with screaming fits and all).
Hello and welcome to this very special Encore Presentation of my 27th episode that I released back in August of 2021. Back then, I had a great conversation with my guest Jim Cooper, where among other topics, we chatted about the book he was penning, now known as ‘The Not So Little Book About Cancer Caregiving: Be a Caregiver Warrior and Keep Your Sanity!', which is part memoir and caregiving advice that was birthed from his time as a caregiver to his wife during her battle with brain cancer. Jim's book was just released in paperback and is now available on amazon. I think it's important to note that I have no affiliate relationship with Amazon, rather I'm supporting the tremendous act of service that Jim is providing via the release of his book. As someone who was a caregiver myself, to several family members with cancer, I know this will be an extremely welcomed resource to those folks who suddenly find themselves in a caregiving position. I hope you are having a wonderful summer and enjoy this encore presentation with my guest Jim Cooper. My next guest is a veteran radio personality, voice actor, author, book publisher and drummer. He cut his on-air personality at KILT in Houston (1980). Was on air talent, production & music manager at WMLP & WOEZ-FM in Pennsylvania. In Central New Jersey, he hosted, wrote and produced a syndicated film review radio program called ‘All That Glitters' that aired on WCTC and WMGQ. These days his voiceover credentials run the gamut from audiobooks, E-Learning Modules, Corporate Explainer videos, radio promos and phone messaging systems. He's also the creator, producer & host of ‘The Hydrant', an Inside The Actor's Studio-ish video chat with the movers and shakers of the Voiceover industry. I'd like to welcome the “VO Big Dog” aka Jim Cooper to 19Stories. As always, if you liked this or any other episode of 19Stories, please like, share or leave me a recorded message on the podcast page of my website: www.soundsatchelstudios.com You may contact Jim via: Business email Address: BigDog@jimcoopervo.com Business website: https://jimcoopervo.com Host of the hydrant : https://jimcoopervo.com/the-hydrant Thanks for listening to this episode of 19 Stories: from fear to Hope. Do you love your family yet struggle with how to keep your sanity during family holidays? Family dynamics can be challenging even for the healthiest of families. Add to that the stress of these last few years of politics and pandemic, which have certainly stretched many family relationships thin, not to mention the crazy phenomenon of regression that occurs the moment you get back into your family unit (once the youngest always the youngest), and trying to accommodate so many different opinions, tastes, routines and desires into a seamless and peaceful gathering. One where you don't go home saying, WTF?!? Or feel guilty until the next year's vacay. Our conversation is unscripted as always so here are our (aspirational) 8 TIPS for a more sane family holiday vacation in a nutshell: DON'T discuss politics or religion for any reason and be ready to change the subject! We have shirts that say, “Proud Member of the Cocktail Party!” (Available in our CCnDoc Store). This kind of humor diffuses political conversations. DO take time for yourself even if it's hard to get away! DO be flexible when you can! DO practice mindfulness. Use an app like free Insight Timer to meditate each morning (even 5 minutes can help) before you greet the day and the family at the breakfast table. Eating is also a great time to be mindful. Enjoy every bite, by savoring and chewing your food well, and don't let the table conversation affect your digestion. DO give genuine compliments and validation freely! DO say please and Thank You even for simple things. DON'T make assumptions whenever possible. Be willing to broach difficult topics with love, compassion and/or humor when possible and seek to understand the other person's perspective. Unless your opinions on the topic are too strong then… CHOOSE your battles and KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF! Ask yourself what winning this round is worth to you? How important is it if your sister-in-law loads the dishwasher the wrong way as long as the dishes get done and your brother isn't pissed off at you for the next year? Dr. Travis Corcoran wrote a new book called Restoring Reason, and I love the concept. He talks about the Trivium, which is a system of thinking through concepts. The first three pillars of a liberal arts education are grammar, logic, and rhetoric. In other words, capturing knowledge, thinking it through, and then communicating those ideas. How can a systematic approach to information help us combat the discombobulating cascade of information we deal with on a daily basis? Listen as we outline it. In his book Restoring Reason, philosopher Dr. Travis Corcoran demonstrates how the liberal arts provide us with a skillset to evaluate knowledge and draw our own conclusions for clarity, confidence, and freedom. Dr. Corcoran explains the trivium—knowledge, understanding, and wisdom—and the foundation it lays for making high-quality decisions for a high-quality life. Restoring Reason is an intellectual self-defense manual to make sense of the world we live in. Including an analysis of the five biggest social engineers today, including corporate interests and legacy media, this reproducible, systematic framework will help you see truth, deny falsehoods, and lead a fulfilled, independent life. Dr. Murphy has the tools to help you get clear on your desires so you can keep your sanity intact in your infidelity situation. Alyssa Wolff specializes in simplifying life for introverted moms (aka your stuff, your sanity, and your schedule). She has 11+ years' experience balancing multiple kids while still getting time to recharge. SUGGESTIONS: Break up your day into a few different parts—have a short to-do list for each portion of the day. Be willing to change plans and give yourself a break as needed. Consider yourself along with your children. In parenting it's easy to put our needs aside for the sake of what our children need, but as the parent we also have needs. Ask yourself, what would make me feel better about the day? Look for the tasks that don't take much brain power. You'll still feel accomplished, but it'll be more doable. Be willing to pivot and disappoint people. Reflection Techniques Check in during the morning before the day gets started, again right before lunch, and once more mid afternoon. Ask yourself the following questions during those check-ins. What has to get done today? What am I thankful for right now? What do I want to get done next? Pausing to consider can shift the day! REMINDER: You're doing good enough. Perfection is not the goal. Let go of other peoples' expectations. How can you start to live out your life authentically? What do you authentically enjoy? Who is your authentic self? What's one step to take to start living authentically? Consider your why. Why are you living the way you do, and choosing what you choose. Are you actually speaking your mind? Consider the long term. How are the decisions you're making in the present moment going to affect you in the long run?
