Hello beautiful podcast listener, how are you? C R E A T I V I T Y When did you last get creative ? Scientists are beginning to find evidence that being in nature and journalling both have a profound impact on our brains and our behaviour, helping us to reduce stress and increase our attention capacity and creativity. Creativity is so important for us as it helps us grow in confidence, and figure our solutions for what we are working through. As well as spending time in nature, a creativity practice that any of us can do, is creative journaling. I am so excited to share with you this weeks podcast episode- delving into one creativity practice that is a game changer, for feeling great and developing your artistic ability. This technique is created by Julia Cameron - 3 pages of free flowing, morning journalling, is like a great way to empty the head first thing. There are no expections or no rules with this practice - just fill 3 pages first thing, of anything. We take out the bin regularly when it gets full, we brush our teeth 2-3 times a day, we shower to cleanse our body regularly, but what do we do for our minds? We can free flow journal- thats what we can do! To clear it out, empty the rubbish from our minds, and get clarity, calmness and creativity flowing. This podcast epsiode explains the technique and why it could really be useful towards your happiness. You and me baby aint nothing but mammals.. We are mammals, like the animals. We have primal instincts within our DNA. We have emotions, that are supposed to guide us, to make choices, instead, society tells us to SUPRESS our emotions. to Numb out and just disconnect through scrolling on our phone, online shopping, eating, drinking, gambling (insert drug of choice) All emotions are good and useful. It is incredibly healing for us to allow ourselves to feel all emotions - the good, the bad and the ugly. Shadow work (aka roasting ourselves ) is a great way to reconnect to the parts of ourselves that we are not so proud of. often we suppress our shadow emotions, as they bring us shame or fear. The only way to really heal, is get to know that shadow part of ourselves. Once we can identify our shadows, we can name them, and that helps take away their power right away. Rage, tears, roaring and frustration all have a place at the table.
