The timing of NBC's Days of our Lives overtaking ABC's General Hospital in the ratings couldn't have been better for the theme of this TV Source podcast episode as it gave us the idea to have for a segment focused on soap ratings. When fans discuss #WhyRatingsAreLow -- for soaps or primetime series -- we can usually find valid critiques about the creative state, but is there a direct relation to quality TV drawing more viewers? If so why isn't NBC's Timeless renewed already?! In this episode, we discuss a variety of subjects relating to the soap ratings game – antiquated Nielsen system, not counting online viewing, poor timeslots, peak TV, out of touch creatives and more – all using Fan Excuse Bingo!

Michael Sutton reprises his Daytime Emmy-nominated role as Stone on ABC Daytime's "General Hospital." Michael Sutton was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 1996 for his role as Stone on “General Hospital.” Sutton’s portrayal of Stone was part of a groundbreaking storyline in the 1990’s about he and his girlfriend Robin (played by Kimberly McCollough), both stricken with HIV. This was one of the first times TV explored this topic and the first time a TV series explored the disease with a heterosexual couple. Stone eventually died, but Robin moved on and has lived a full life ever since, becoming a doctor, wife and mother. The current storyline involves Robin struggling with news that her husband Patrick cheated on her. She hallucinates and sees her first love, Stone, for the first time since his death. Lane Davies, who played the role of the ever-popular Mason Capwell on NBC's former soap, Santa Barbara, will be making his first appearance on BuzzWorthy Radio! The actor will joining us to talk about his role on the upcoming webseries, "THE BAY," which is set to air on September 15. Davies and his family all his strong ties to the performing arts world. He started performing in dinner theatres while working on acheiving his degree in Speech and and Theater at Middle Tennessee State. After graduating and making several guest appearances on primetime television series such as "ChiPs," Lane's big break came in 1981 as he was cast in the role of Dr. Evan Whyland on NBC's "Days of our Lives." Though the character of Evan never got picked up by fans or the show, Lane left DAYS in less than a year. It was not until 1984 when he officially hit it big when he was cast as Mason Capwell on "Santa Barbara." A lawyer to his credit, one of the most infamous couples during the show's run was that of Mason and Julia, played by Nancy Lee Grahn, who now plays Alexis Davis on ABC's "General Hospital." The two would later reunite when Davies went to play the role of Cameron on the show. Another one of the infamous storylines during the show's run was Mason witnessing Mary DuVall's death when the "C" atop the Capwell building fell on her. Lane left Santa Barbara in 1989, and made a brief return to daytime as being a temp Ridge Forrester on CBS Daytime's "The Bold and the Beautiful," in 1992. 10 years later, he came to GH as Dr. Cameron Lewis, where he worked alongside Nancy again, as well as Chad Brannon and Tony Geary. The show is set to premiere on blip.tv and http://www.thebaytheseries.com on September 15, 2010. We will be talking of his character on the show as well as his acting history.
No second acts in American lives? Don't tell that to this guy: he rose to fame playing alcoholic rich kid A.J. Quartermaine on ABC's "General Hospital," and lost that job under --- to say the least --- tough personal circumstances. But he picked himself up, dusted himself off, and landed the star-making role of bona-fide bad boy Deacon Sharpe on "The Bold and the Beautiful," and never looked back. He crossed Deacon over to "The Young and the Restless" last year, and in his spare time, he produces and stars in independent films, performs stand-up comedy, and tries to instruct young men across the world how to become 21st century gentlemen, and now the amazing SEAN KANAN is stopping by Brandon's Buzz to discuss all of this and so much more!
Martha Byrne, who many fans will remember for playing the role of Lily Walsh Snyder on CBS Daytime's "As the World Turns," makes a return visit to BuzzWorthy Radio. Byrne began playing the role of Lily Walsh in 1985, taking over the part from originator Lucy Deakins. The actress would then play the role until 1989 before moving to the west coast. Byrne won her first Daytime Emmy in 1987 for Younger Actress in a Drama Series. In 1993, Byrne returned to the role of Lily, to where she stayed with the show until 2008. In 2001, she won her second Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for the dual rols of Lily and newly created character, Rose D'Angelo. Following her ATWT departure, Byrne had a stint on ABC's "General Hospital," as Andrea Floyd. She continued to work producing and writing a webseries entitled, "GOTHAM." Previously, she had released three albums during her time on "World Turns," and was hired as script writer for "The Bold and the Beautiful" in early 2009. Tune in to hear her thoughts about ATWT leaving the airwaves on CBS this September 17, 2010, as well as if she would have liked to have returned to the show to finish it out.
