Check out Part 2 of the latest episode where I was interviewed by Jessica Schiller, the host of The ALIVE Podcast. These are her words: Your inner child longs to come alive in your creative spirit. Yet we live in a world that overemphasizes the power of form and technique over living in the play, or creating just for the sake of the person you become along the way. In this episode, Sheryl Benjy shares how her art is more than just the tangible piece she creates, but more of a moving meditation and a process that invites play through creativity and emoting the experience. In the emoting, Sheryl helps people heal through trauma and challenging life experiences in both the creative process + by immersing in the piece as a divine reminder that the spirit always remains. I personally connected with Sheryl through a painting of one of the hostages following the events on October 7th and was so deeply moved by how she uses her art to express what cannot be put into words, and evokes this same feeling in both the families of the victims and the entire community at large who feels so helpless in such a tragic time. She also speaks so beautifully to the dynamic of being both Iranian and Jewish, and how this interplay of ancestral experiences continues to influence her artistry in a way that moves others to become more resilient and feel peace amidst the chaos. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sheryl-benjy/support

Josh shares how and why we need to develop authentic relationships with our children and points out the importance of showing unfailing love and truth to them. By now you probably know that I love movies and good storytelling, so joining me on the show to talk about the necessity of creating engaging stories for kids are two of the creators of the popular Saints Alive Podcast, Alex and Melissa Dee. Saints Alive is a radio drama podcast about the lives of the saints that is geared to kids. My youngest son is a fan of this podcast, so I got serious street cred at home when I told him I was interviewing them. I recorded this conversation back in December and we had a delightful and free flowing conversation on a wide range of topics. Alex and Melissa share their journey of starting the Saints Alive podcast with their friend Tanner, winning a $100k from the OSV Challenge, learning to navigate differences in desires and lifegoals as a couple, the importance of having hard conversations, the need for good storytelling, and they share a bit about their creative process. After listening to this episode, if you can think of one person who could benefit from it, then don't be a hoarder and pass it along. If you enjoyed then someone else will too. In this episode, Tom Everson, the executive director and founder of Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 is handing over the hosting reigns to Margie Sturgeon of Webberized Podcast Production, to talk about how the nonprofit Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 has evolved since its creation in 1998, how it has helped families honor and remember their loved ones and how strong relationships with donors supporting communities around the country have made an impact in helping KKAD25 in their mission to make streets safer for all who walk, cycle, play, drive, and ride. 2023 will mark the 25th anniversary of the organization, and Tom talks about what's ahead as his call to action has never been louder.

This week I am so delighted to sit down with my new friend Melissa Dee to discuss the universal call to holiness, the truth that we have ALL been called to sainthood. It can often feel overwhelming or intimidating when we realize that we too, sinful and all, have been called to glorify God through our lives. And yet, most of our saint-making is often done in the hidden places. As Saint Faustina once said, "Jesus loves hidden souls. A hidden flower is the most fragrant. I must strive to make the interior of my soul a resting place for the Heart of Jesus." Melissa is the primary scriptwriter and producer for the new Saints Alive Podcast, a radio theater podcast for kids. But don't be fooled my friends, their podcast will not only delight your children but will also bless your own heart. Melissa, her husband Alex, and their team member Tanner have a wonderful way of telling heroic stories of the lives of the saints. Storytelling is a beautiful way to infuse our children with truth and beauty, just as the ultimate storyteller - Christ himself - has always done!
