SALMOS 27-28Nesses dois salmos, saímos das declarações de confiança inabalável para enfrentar as realidades do medo, da ameaça de inimigos e da necessidade urgente de uma resposta divina. O salmo 27 narra a Confiança e o Desejo do Salmista. Davi começa com um brado de coragem, afirmando que o Senhor é a sua luz e a sua salvação, o que o torna destemido mesmo diante de um exército. O coração do salmo revela a sua maior prioridade: habitar na casa do Senhor todos os dias para contemplar a Sua beleza. Diante da ameaça de falsas testemunhas, ele clama para não ser abandonado e encerra exortando a si mesmo a esperar confiantemente no Senhor. O salmo 28 relata o Clamor por Socorro e a Resposta de Deus. Diante do silêncio de Deus, que o faria parecer com os que descem à sepultura, o salmista suplica por misericórdia. Ele pede que Deus não o julgue junto com os ímpios — que falam de paz, mas guardam a maldade no coração —, e transiciona para um louvor vibrante ao perceber que o Senhor ouviu a sua voz, declarando-O como a força e o escudo do Seu povo.

In this episode, I'm in conversation with JS Park, a Korean American hospital chaplain based in Florida whose compassion has made an incredible impression on so many people, including myself. J.S. Park is a hospital chaplain, former atheist/agnostic, sixth degree black belt, suicide survivor, Korean-American, and follows Christ. He. is author of The Voices We Carry: Finding Your One True Voice in a World of Clamor and Noise. Published by Northfield/Moody. He is currently serving at a 1000+ bed hospital, one of the top-ranked in the nation, and was also a chaplain for three years at one of the largest nonprofit charities for the homeless on the east coast.We talk about compassion and grief, which do not have clear definitions or prescriptions for embodying them. Both grief and compassion look  different for each individual person. It's not a one-size-fits-all. We also talk about how we might hold compassion for those whose beliefs are rooted in our oppression. And how we might identify this collective grief we are currently feeling but can't quite name. Sound pollution is pollution. You know it's been growing for your whole life with little sign of decreasing.I wish I lived in a world with less sound pollution, but given that I do, I'd rather be aware and conscious of it than not know. Ignorance of how much sound was affecting me wasn't blissful. Noise still affected me. Awareness enables me to act.But it's not what you think. More decibels doesn't necessarily mean more annoying. Lower decibels doesn't necessarily mean less. Just think of a whiny drone that sounds like a mosquito. I can hear an electric leaf blower as I'm typing these words and while it may be quieter than a two-stroke engine, it's freaking annoying and I can't tune it out.Chris's book Clamor: How Noise Took Over the World and How We Can Take It Back describes more about sound, noise, how they affect us, how our understanding of them change, and new industries developing on sound design.
