Stormy waves for January, direct from Donegal courtesy of Harri Pepper's brother. Raised amid the rhythms and canvases of his family's jazz bar and art gallery on the wild Welsh coast, Jac Pepper's journey began in the creative crucible of Peppers in Abergwaun. Brother to DJ Harri Pepper, featured on these very pages for time, Jac has spent over a decade crafting vinyl-only residencies from Ireland to Australia. Now settled in the surf town of Bundoran, Donegal, where the raw beauty of the Dartry Mountains meets the Atlantic waves, you'll find him holding court at George's Bar and Treehouse Live events. What started as a few months chasing swells turned into finding his spiritual home – a place where music and the ocean merge. Spanning continents and decades with the raw energy of post-punk to ‘global rhythms', meditative downtempo and euphoric disco, and from classic house to sideways acid this mix is a deep slice of his musical cake (yup I made that all up on my own) and reflects the ethos of his upbringing: creating spaces where people feel “comfortable and free to dance” – or music “checking some stormy waves.” Nice curveball for January, let's go…

When it comes to Donegal GAA history nobody has contributed more than Brian McEniff. The Bundoran legend enjoyed great club success with the renound St Josephs in the 60's and 70's, winning a whole host of county titles. Amongst that successful period they also won the All Ireland club title in 1968 and the Ulster club championship in 1975. Brian as player manager of Donegal in 1972 led Donegal to their first ever senior Ulster title. He followed that with a second title in 74. During a second stint in charge he landed Donegal Ulster title no 3 in 1983 and his third time in the job saw him win his beloved county's fourth and fifth ulster titles in 1990 and 1992. On the 20th September 1992 Brian guided Donegal to our first ever senior All Ireland title, beating Dublin 0-18 to 0-14 in the decider. #014 - Providers of health care - hospital, doctors, pharma - operate to make a profit, whether they say so or not.  Are you paying too much?  Yes.While insurance companies are often the recipient of consumer ire for the rising cost of health insurance, the cost inputs to those insurance premiums - most notably paid claims (aka the cost of doctors, hospitals, pharma and other providers) have the most significant effect on the price of your health insurance premiums.  These input costs need to be equally, if not more, scrutinized! This episode illustrates how hospitals and other providers are equally driven by profits.  And there is nothing wrong with profits.  Value is created when the product or service meets the lowest price possible when the buyer and seller have a meeting of the minds.Your call to action is to purchase health insurance as you would any other consumable product.  Identify the cost ahead of your purchase.  Don't just take whatever they give you.  And if you just say to yourself, "oh, insurance will pay for it....no big deal....."  STOP!  You are paying for it....you just don't realize it and the system likes it that way.Become an informed and rational consumer of health care.  It starts now!Easily research data, from industry publications such as Becker's Hospital Review:Ascension records $1B annual lossHappy Saint Patrick's Day!  Be sure to check out surfing in Bundoran!Bundoran Surf Company IrelandWe'll continue on with helping you to be a better consumer of healthcare.  Next we'll look further at the new rules handed down by CMS for transparent pricing.Tell your family friends about Doxcost!  We're growing!  Catch us on Spotify or wherever you get your shows.See ya next time!
