In Part 1, we covered the research and potential benefits of keto and now it's time to talk about the risks... I tried the Keto diet years ago and … I lost my period and felt like a crazy person. I know this isn't everyone's experience and there's merit in certain situations when it comes to the keto diet. What sparked this two part conversation? If you go to my IG page, you'll see a Story Highlight called “My Story” where I talk about my whole journey from struggling with my weight, developing an eating disorder, clearing up my eating disorder, losing weight, starting my online coaching business, and developing hormonal issues. People always respond to that story and ask me more about keto and how does keto affect the female body? So we decided it's time I do a full podcast episode. In Part 2, we'll discuss some of the potential risks of keto including disordered eating habits, missing nutrients, increased stress, and body fat storage. We'll also discuss some potential hormone issues including estrogen balance and thyroid issues. In this week's episode, Raquel and Jennifer talk to Elizabeth Mikotowicz. In her 20s, Elizabeth barely survived a very violent relationship which resulted in a severe injury and a prescription from her doctor for opioids that she was not allowed to refuse (she was threatened with child protective services because she was pregnant and refusing medical advice). Elizabeth eventually went to federal prison for a nonviolent drug charge. 5 years ago Elizabeth was painting murals as a federal inmate; now she has had her own art shows and has launched an environmentally friendly clothing brand based on her art. Prison opened her eyes to the systemic racism, cruelty, corruption, and inequality in the US. Now she tries to expose what she witnessed and endured in order to get necessary legislation passed. Elizabeth created her women's clothing brand (EPM Clothing) during her healing journey and she wants to help people from all walks of life do the same. Elizabeth is also in the process of editing her memoir and creating an adult coloring book based on PTSD and what she has learned from her trauma. Whether we realize it or not, we are always telling stories. On a first date or job interview, at a sales presentation or therapy appointment, with family or friends, we are constantly narrating events and interpreting emotions and actions. In this compelling book, storyteller extraordinaire Matthew Dicks presents wonderfully straightforward and engaging tips and techniques for constructing, telling, and polishing stories that will hold the attention of your audience (no matter how big or small). He shows that anyone can learn to be an appealing storyteller, that everyone has something “storyworthy” to express, and, perhaps most important, that the act of creating and telling a tale is a powerful way of understanding and enhancing your own life.Dave's Affiliate Link - Support our show by clicking the link belowUS Audible LinkCanadian Audible LinkUK Audible LinkSupport the show!...

In this classic show from the archives, atheist scientist Adam Rutherford and Christian biochemist Fazale (Fuz) Rana of Reasons To Believe, discuss the scientific advances in attempting to create simple synthetic life in the laboratory and how this research may be of benefit. Fuz contends that the amount of ingenuity and intelligence required to produce life in the lab lends strong support to the view that life on earth is a product of an intelligent mind. Ever woken up and asked yourself, “How in the world did I end up here, in this situation?” I have. And according to what I was thinking then… I HAD NO CLUE!! Today we're talking about being intentional when creating our lives from here on out. Hey Beautiful!! How's that possible… but it happens to all of us, and to some of us more than others. Going forward, I want to invite you to join me in creating our life ON PURPOSE!! Which means thinking on purpose about the future. If 5 or 10 years go by and NOTHING in your life changes, except you're 5 or 10 years older, will you be content? TO DO suggestions: 1. Make a list…. Think of the OPPOSITE your DESIRES 2. Include things you once wanted, and you NOW HAVE… include PEACE OF MIND things too, a good family 3. Start preparing for the new outcome… 4. As much as possible, start living in the new reality in your mind 5. Think of the STEPS you must take in order to embody that feeling/to BELIEVE 6. Do NOT rely on external things (like people) to bring about your reality… it's in YOU… YOU will bring about the change 7. Be ready to have people who will not believe in the new you… let them stay behind if they don't want to come with you. They will tell you so directly, or in subtle ways, or they'll just show no interest/support whatsoever… KEEP GOING 8. Expect adversity/difficulties… they're the training for your marathon!! 9. Last thought: HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT in 5 or 10 years than you are now? Let's get to work… you're worth it, I'm worth it… we're worth it!! Let's connect on... It is said that over 70% of the time parents will ever spend with their children happens before the age of eighteen. Think about it - by the time our kids reach eighteen, we'll have spent almost all of the time together that we ever will before they become adults and strike out on their own. That's all we got - 18 summers. As busy entrepreneurs, how, then, do we make the best use of these 18 summers so we can create life bonds that will endure for a lifetime? To help us chew over the unsettling reality that the clock we share with our children is ticking away is Jim Sheils. Author of the book “The Family Board Meeting”, Jim shares how busy parents who want to make their limited time with their kids matter must be intentional with the use of it. He'll let you in on some secrets on how to create bonds that last beyond those first eighteen years. Click the play button now and let's turn those opportunities into magical, quality time with the family. After all, will being successful in a business matter if you fail at home? Enjoy the first episode of our three-part series with Jim Sheils.
