" I was the white black sheep in my family." It's a classic battle of Introvert vs Extrovert as we figure out where our energy originates. Candice Thompson (The Tonight Show, Joe Rogan Experience) joins me to explain how she copes with the Hollywood lifestyle while not allowing it to drain her of her essence. We also talk about growing up ethnically ambiguous, how to get ejected from a wedding, and what it means when we meet our demons face to face. Candice is a magnificent comedian, writer, and human being. While she may be introverted, her smile lights up every room she enters. Follow her on all the things. Candice Thompson is a comedian, writer, actor and host of the podcast Nosy Neighbors which breaks down the most absurd neighborhood app posts of the week. She and Bridget discuss how everybody wants to label you so they know what to think about you, why they don’t trust groups, their paths to stand-up comedy, their worst comedy bomb experiences, why hemp is the buffalo of plants, normalizing knife fights, and why people are so staunch in their defense a celebrity they’ve never met. Candice shares her experience being a light skinned black girl, and the complexities of being mixed race in a country obsessed with race, her exploration of nutrition and spirituality, and why she got kicked out of a wedding for a stand-up set. It’s a hilarious conversation that goes from lentils to racism to fat shaming, why our bodies are miracles, people who take pride in their victimhood, and the etiquette of throwing away dog poop.

Candice Thompson has managed to thrive, as much as you can, in quarantine. She has been writing on The Netflix Afterparty, recording multiple podcasts, and manifesting her home to be as prepared for this time and the potential dystopian future. TCB's Jake Kroeger and Candice have quite the time figuring out what they're going to do in the not so distant future as the world keeps sinking into chaos (and yes, we talk aliens too). Are you investing too much emotional bandwidth into “fixing” yourself? When you look in the mirror, do you see your potential or do you see your flaws? Do you feel isolated in your quest for perfection? Perhaps the truth is that you are not alone and, actually, an important part of a much larger collective story. In this episode, Kim Faith dives deep into her new book, The Lion Inside, along with powerhouse and marketing strategist Candice Thompson. Together they discuss how - and why - women are still living by rules that were written without consideration of the female impact, perspective, or even any female input. “The shortcomings we see in the mirror with the way we look, speak and act, are all part of a flawed narrative that the world has given us,” Kim says. “While this narrative is part of our history, it's unbalanced, and it only represents one side of the equation.” Kim discusses how throughout her career coaching female professionals, she observed women desperately trying to fit into boxes that were never designed for them. Those boxes were too small and too predictable to fit the magnificence she would see in women! It's time to rewrite the narrative and that means taking a close look at those rules that became belief systems. Kim's research made her acutely aware of seven prevalent belief systems – mental models – proverbial glasses through which women were commonly seeing the world. These mental models served as the inspiration behind the sisterhood of seven she felt compelled to write about to let women around the world know “You are not alone!” Tune in to learn more about the sisterhood and become aware of your mental model. Find out how to make intentional, purposeful life choices, and how to discover your power to create the life you were meant to live.
