Who is responsible for making the Mile High's food scene stand out? What restaurants have created the culinary landscape we know today as unmistakably Denver? In other words, if there was a Mt. Rushmore of this city's dining innovators, who would be immortalized? Host Bree Davies and producer Paul Karolyi are joined by Westword's food editor Molly Martin to dig into our culinary history and create the ultimate list of the people behind the biggest influences on the tastes, innovations, and culture of Denver. Paul mentioned the Jason Sheehan piece on Biker Jim that sparked this conversation. Molly talked about Bill St. John's remembrance of Mel and Janie Master, which first mentioned the idea of a culinary Mt. Rushmore. Bree talked about Adam Cayton Holland's reporting on the Chubby's family saga, Alan Prendergast's story on the formation of Greektown, Patty Calhoun's look back at the fern bars of Denver, and History Colorado's entry on “Daddy” Bruce Randolph Sr. and the Epworth Foundation's Feed-A-Family program. Adam Cayton-Holland has been a Comedian for nearly half his life. Celebrating twenty years in comedy with a headlining show at Comedy Works in Denver, he is thankful to be living this life. Adam is an avid birder, and while stand-up is still his passion, it has taken a backseat to his family. He has a special out now called "Wallpaper" and continues to do The Grawlix Comedy Show and The Grawlix podcast with his good friends and fellow Comedians Ben Roy and Andrew Orvedahl. This week comedian Adam Cayton-Holland joins Megan, Chris, and Kurt. They love their kids, BUT…parents are allowed to have a favorite child (admit it, we all do) but who gave them the right to have a favorite parent!? Megan got one little illness that put her out of commission for a few days and all of the sudden she's knocked down the parental ranking board by her son. She'll do anything to be numero uno again, but even after going into action-movie-star mode to save her son's life from a wild coyote, all the thanks she can get is “Da da!” Adam readily admits that his wife is the preferred parent for his two boys and he tries to not take it personally. But he does savor the small victories even if it is just his kids leveraging their love to get what they want. Your kids may not appreciate you, but you are all OUR preferred parents! And remember, you can call our hotline and leave us questions, comments, or your own funny, totally anonymous “Circle Time” parenting story at 424-570-KIDS or you can email us at Ilovemykid@wondery.com. Just don't forget to start your story with, “I love my kid, but…” and maybe we'll use yours on air!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Adam Cayton-Holland has a storied stand-up comedy career that takes place right here in Denver. The accomplished author has performed a one-man play, spent three seasons on TruTV with the cult-classic series “Those Who Can't” and held down the stand-up scene in Denver with The Grawlix and the annual High Plains Comedy Festival. He's also seen his fare share of Colorado Rockies games - good (2007) and bad (a few years to choose between) - and can even go back to rooting for the Triple-A Denver Zephyrs before the 1993 expansion. Cayton-Holland will be at ComedyWorks Downtown on Wednesday, May 10 for a can't miss performance at one of the best comedy clubs in the entire country. The DNVR Rockies Podcast will bring further levity to the 2023 season, especially as the Colorado Avalanche are no longer around to help pass the time.
