When you think about fashion and style, many things may come to mind - maybe you love shopping and embracing different styles or maybe you loathe the idea of standing in front of a mirror trying something new. But fashion is so much more than choosing the right clothes. It's about curating your life's preferences, needs and desires. This week, Ashley is joined by the creator of the Somatic Dressing Method, Carrie Montgomery. Carrie believes when women untether their beauty, they can change the world and the Somatic Dressing Method is a way of getting dressed that leaves you feeling empowered and ready to bring on whatever the day brings. It's taking style beyond the layers of clothing and feeling empowered in your whole being. In this episode, Carrie and Ashley discuss Carrie's journey and how she came to create her unique offerings, how to make aesthetic choices based on your energy, finding peace and acceptance when it comes to body image, going beyond performance when it comes to style, fast fashion, capsule wardrobes (and why it may be good in theory but doesn't necessarily work for everyone), style archetypes, and more. Wherever you are on your journey right now, Carrie welcomes others to have fun in finding their true style. Fashion is a form of communication, a visual representation of who you are, and a feeling that speaks for itself. Style comes from knowing yourself and what feels beautiful to you. It is a visual representation of who you are. I was consistently being passed up for promotions and realized I was being underpaid compared to my colleagues. I knew that in order to get ahead in my career and be able to make the money I wanted… to support the lifestyle I wanted…something had to change. So, I started investing in myself. I worked with a career coach, resume writer, read every career book that I could get my hands on, enrolled in career courses, and studied colleagues wo seemed to be crushing it in their careers. And after investing over $20,000 in resources, coaches, and books…and spending thousands of hours over five years…I realized that many of the common advice out there did NOT move the needle when it came to advancing your career! Instead, I handpicked and carefully selected what worked to create my now signature program, 90-Day Job Offer, that is unlike anything that is out there. I wish a program like this existed when I was going through my career advancement and salary negotiations. If so, it would have been a fraction of the cost and saved me over four years of frustration of trial-and-error. Since then, my clients have taken my ready-to-use resources to advance their careers in 90-days or less, and secured on average a 56% increase in salary (to date my clients have received $30,000 - $120,000 in additional earned income per year)!!I help women in technology land fulfilling, high-paying jobs at a company that values and appreciates them. I'm on a mission to help women in tech collectively earn over a $1M in the next year. Will you join me?

How do you build resilience? I mean, would you consider yourself a resilient person? The visual that immediately comes to mind is a boxer who can dip, duck, dive, weave and jive, no matter what punches are thrown her way. She keeps going, never giving up. (Come to think of it, that makes a lot of sense, considering my sympathetic nervous system typically chooses to fight 9 times out of 10 over flight. What about you?) My special guest today is Carrie Montgomery and she's simplifying how to build resilience in an uncertain world. She's a dynamic entrepreneur that's certainly had to dip, dive and keep going through a series of debilitating chronic illnesses… most recently a viral brain infection. Through a pandemic, no less. You see, resilience is built in the little moments when no one is looking. And she shares what she's learned along the way to becoming a stronger, more vibrant and whole person. Here's how. My special guest today is Carrie Montgomery and she's simplifying how to build resilience in an uncertain world. We tackle all aspects of it, including: What's changed in her business and in her life since we last spoke in season one - and what happened in late 2019 that made her dramatically shift how she runs her online business How she defines “resilience” and what helped her build her resilience through tough and uncertain times What role ‘discipline' plays in becoming a more resilient entrepreneur and all-around human Why being “unattached in life” is so important What was learned when she took a step back from social media and actively marketing her business online for 10 months, in order to give herself space to heal …and ultimately, how to begin to “reclaim yourself” after trauma or big change I hope you find Carrie's story just as inspiring as I do. I know it helps me to remember that no matter what you're grappling with in this moment, there are others around the world that stand beside you on that journey. Their courage to tackle their walls gives me strength to take on my own. Brick by brick, day by day… really, choice by choice, we each are learning to reclaim and restyle our lives. And bottomline, we're better together. You can do it, I believe in you! Q: Are you looking to build your resilience as an entrepreneur? If yes, this one is for you. It's time to #DoTheThing! This week's episode is about courage in the face of disease. Indeed, finding the beauty within dis-ease. My guest this week is Carrie Montgomery and she knows a thing or two about resilience, courage and adaptability. Developed in the face of a long history of medical issues in her life from breaking her back as an 18 year old to most recently contracting encephalitis at the end of 2019. She has used each episode to learn and adapt her approach to life, so I just knew she'd be a great source of inspiration right now. Overtime she has learned - the hard way - as I say, to find beauty in dis-ease. When conventional medicine couldn't resolve things for her, she went on her own learning journey to better understand what was happening to her. This agency both helped her with her health and provided the inspiration for her eponymously named business - where she creates transformation for women from the inside out. Carrie is many things - an entrepreneur, dog mom, stylist, visionary, challenger of convention, survivor, empath and Jane of all trades...the list goes on, she's lived an amazing life so far. It was an honest, open and fascinating conversation that feels very well timed for now. CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine
At a time when our lives have been completely disrupted and thrown into turmoil it can be difficult to remember what we know for sure. We are not only worried about the health and safety of ourselves and loved ones, but we are also in a time of transition. What will our lives look like going forward? Despite the uncertainty of the circumstances that we have found ourselves in, I believe that the silver lining is that we have been given the gift of time. We have a chance to take a breather from our busy lives and remember what is truly important, what we know for sure. So... what is it that you know for sure?
CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine
Eight years ago I found myself standing at a crossroads. I knew that I needed to make some changes in my life. I was not happy in my marriage, I was unfulfilled in my career, and I was trying to recover from injury and struggling with my health and fitness. I was very unhappy and beating myself up for not being happy with the life that I had been given. I finally began writing to maintain my own sanity. My journal was my therapist as I attempted to navigate through a difficult time in my life. I wrote every day… then after about three years I began to see an outline emerge. I never set out to write a book, but CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine was the result of the struggles that I went through. In today's episode I give an overview and share some of my favorite excerpts and songs from the book.
CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine
“Never give up on something you can’t go a day without thinking about.”~ Winston Churchill Do any of the following statements sound familiar to you? “I’m not sure this is worth it.”“I just don’t have the time to devote to this anymore.”“This is too hard, and I’d rather spend my time enjoying life.”“Maybe I’m just not cut out for this.”“Who was I kidding? I can’t do this.”If any of these thoughts are running around in circles in your mind then don’t go anywhere - even the most determined people struggle with motivation from time to time, and it is when these type of thoughts creep in that you’ll be most tempted to give up. In the 9th episode of the Crossroads Podcast where I will be sharing some simple ways in which you can improve your motivation and keep moving forward rather than throwing in the towel.
CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine
We are all pulled in a million different directions every day, and in the chaos it can be difficult to take the time to slow down and appreciate the ones you love. Let’s face it, some days it is just easier to say, “I’ll do it tomorrow.” As I have grown older and lost people that I love, I have unfortunately come to understand with increasing awareness that tomorrow is not guaranteed. It is such a simple concept, yet at times incredibly difficult to keep in our awareness. Today I’m here to remind you not to let yourself wake up one day only to realize that these moments have passed you by. “Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed.” ~ Wayne Dyer

Are you ready to make some changes in 2020? Consider these tips involving motivation, goal-setting, and accountability when implementing your new fitness routine. There are moments in our lives when we find ourselves standing at a crossroads. We know it is time for change, to choose a different path. When I made the decision to open Total Transformation there was a reason that I chose the tagline, “Transform your body, mind, & spirit.” I believe that it is impossible to achieve health and happiness without discovering a balance between all three of these areas in our lives. With the New Year almost upon us I am willing to bet I am not the only one thinking about the changes I am going to make on January 1st. As 2020 quickly approaches there is no better time to focus on our physical health."Your body is your most priceless possession. Take care of it.”~ Jack Lalane
CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine
In the sixth episode I discuss identifying your essential purpose and the importance of living in line with your beliefs - and the inner conflict, or divide, that results when you betray your beliefs. I share an excerpt from the second installment of my book, "Crossroads: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine." "The Game" is a song that I wrote at a time when I was struggling with my own beliefs. In this podcast I share the song, the story behind the song, and the judging report that I received when I submitted the song to the Nashville Songwriters Association International. In the sixth podcast I also share the resources that I used as I attempted to resolve the inner conflict that had created a divided-ness within me. "Relationships do not cause pain and unhappiness. They bring out the pain and unhappiness that is already in you."~ Eckhart Tolle
CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine
It is in the face of adversity that we have the most opportunity for growth - if we choose to open our eyes. No matter what crossroads we find ourselves standing at, there is always a choice. We ALWAYS have a choice. “Be humble to see your mistakes, courageous to admit them, and wise enough to correct them.” ~ Amine Ayad
In the fourth episode I share the last piece in the Introduction of Crossroads. I add becoming a wife to my identity as a writer, musician, and mother, completing the background that helps you understand what got me to the time when I wrote Crossroads. It is the part of my story that brings back feelings of hope and reminds to believe that real love does exist... because once upon a time, standing beneath an arch covered with pink and red Gerber Daisies, I experienced it.
There are monumental moments in our lives that alter our sense of identity, and parenthood is certainly one of those moments. In the early stages of parenthood our dreams often temporarily fade into the background as our child's needs become the center of our world. As my son got older I often asked myself, "How much should I sacrifice for my son? Is it selfish to pursue my own dreams? Or do I have a responsibility to serve as an example for my son?" It was difficult to find a balance between his happiness and my own. There are so many things that I have questioned in my life, but being a mother has never been one of them. "And she loved a little boy very, very much... even more than she loved herself." ~ Shel Silverstein
CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine
In this episode I discuss something we can all relate to, something many of us have struggled with over the years - our sense of identity. I will share two of the four parts of myself that I identify with the most - being a writer and a musician. I was drawn to both of these sides of myself at a very young age, but it would take many years before I was able to feel comfortable enough to say them out loud. In Episode #2 I share how I found the courage to begin to pursue my passions and how I learned to begin to embrace the parts of myself that I had tried to deny for a very long time. Please join me as I share two excerpts from Crossroads: "Written in the Stars" and "Open Your Eyes."
CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine
In the first episode I share my "Invitation to the Listener" with you where I discuss the inspiration behind Crossroads as well as a skeleton overview of what to expect in the Crossroads Podcast. My hope is to help you discover Truth within yourself.
This episode not only kicks off my second season, but is very special to me as I have struggled with body image issues, using clothes to 'hide' myself and wanting to be visible but taking a duck and cover approach to people seeing me. I got the chance to interview my friend and colleague, Carrie Montgomery on this very topic that I know so many women struggle with..finding a sense of style while finding themselves. Carrie is brilliant in her approach and has been featured in the OWN Oprah Winfrey Network, Super Soul Sunday, Coast Living and more. She has been the stylist to many celebrities including Kate Blanchett. Not only does she embody what she teaches, but she is a complete badass who made some powerful changes in her own life to find health and wellness.
