Today, we are joined by a special guest: Christine Nelson! Christine is a fellow tall woman whose mission is to help women dress with confidence. And as a tall girl herself, she is hoping to do that for the tall girl community too! As a tall woman, styling can be challenging beyond just finding clothes that fit. Proportions play a huge role—tops that should hit at the waist may land too high, dresses might feel too short, and pants are often not long enough. Even when clothing is the right length, the way it drapes on a taller frame can be different from how it was designed to look. Oversized pieces can overwhelm, while certain cuts that flatter average heights may look unbalanced on our bodies. Accessories, like belts and shoes, also impact the overall look differently, requiring more thought into how to create cohesion. And then there's the societal pressure—tall women are often told to "tone down" their height, leading some to avoid heels or statement pieces that draw attention. Styling as a tall woman isn't just about putting together an outfit; it's about navigating proportions, confidence, and the limited options available in mainstream fashion. And our guest Christine is here to provide some expert advice about how tall women can dress to impress and feel good in their own skin through fashion! The fashion industry would love for you to believe that being stylish is about buying all the new fashion trends. The pressure to own the latest and greatest. Making you feel like the wonderful wardrobe pieces you have worked hard to earn and love to wear are no longer relevant. Or how about this gem... Wear whatever you love. Like, if you spend enough money on the clothes you like to wear, you will somehow know how to wear them and create beautiful outfits. That is a lie. It doesn't matter if you have the wallet of the King of England, you can't buy style. Money and buying more clothes isn't your problem. It's knowing what to do with the clothes you have bought is what style is all about. That is why I am answering the questions on the podcast today: How can you dress casual and look expensive? Style is Not About Price Tags Style is about how you wear the clothes you love for your body type in the right colors. That is why I always start with color and body type dressing. Quality Over Quantity Investing in a few high-quality pieces that are versatile, comfortable, and fit well can elevate your wardrobe significantly. These key items can be styled in numerous ways, creating a plethora of outfits without needing to constantly buy new clothes. Accessorize Wisely Accessories are your best friend! A simple outfit can be transformed with the right accessories. Belts, scarves, jewelry, and even hats can add that extra oomph to your attire, making it look more polished and put-together. And the best part? You can find stunning accessories at every price point. Thrifting and Upcycling Don't underestimate the power of thrift stores and vintage shops. They are treasure troves of unique pieces that can add character and flair to your wardrobe. Plus, upcycling — the practice of transforming existing pieces into something new — is not only budget-friendly but also environmentally conscious. It's 2024. It's time to erase these outdated myths that are keeping you from feeling stylish For more insights and practical tips on mastering the art of looking expensive yet casual — especially as a realtor braving the warm weather — tune in to this week's podcast episode. We'll deep-dive into how you can put items together that exudes sophistication without emptying your wallet. Your style should be a reflection of who you are, and remember, confidence is your best accessory. Here's to looking fabulous and feeling great, no matter the budget! Also, it's been quiet over on the podcast because I am in the process of rebranding the podcast from the Midlife Style School to Realtor Style School. This is the last of the Midlife Style School podcasts that I have recorded before the rebranding. Take note, I already updated the podcast name. This girl doesn't delay once she makes a decision. In this episode, Mary Sullivan, co-founder of Sweet but Fearless, talks with Angela Foster, Petite Style Coach, about how clothing choices extend beyond mere fabric; it acts as a non-verbal communication tool, broadcasting defining traits to onlookers. Strategically curating a wardrobe ensures that personal style authentically communicates what you want others to see you as. The adage that people form 11 impressions within the initial 7 seconds underscores the significance of style decisions. This mindful approach to fashion transcends the superficial, forging a connection between attire and personal narrative. Aligning one's style with the desired brand image you want becomes pivotal, a visual manifestation of career aspirations. Here's why being mindful of the thoughts we have about our bodies is a game-changer: Style Begins in the Mind: Your perception of your body shapes your style choices. By understanding and reshaping these thoughts, you gain the ability to curate a wardrobe that you really want to wear and not just trying to cover up your body. Confidence Unleashed: Embracing your body thoughts is a path to cultivating unshakeable confidence. When you are aware that the information you think is just feedback of what you really want. There is nothing wrong with you. You are on a path of growth. Fashion as Empowerment: It's not about conforming to societal norms; it's about using fashion as a tool. You will dress intentionally instead of unintentionally. This week's guest is queer style coach, Tess Clabby (they/them), and wow - this was such a fun, playful, and meaningful episode. At its core, this episode with Tess is an invitation for all of us to get more attuned to our most true and free self. Tess talks with us about how fashion and style can be tools for us to intentionally explore and uncover who we are and heal from internalized anti-queerness and anti-transness. Tess shares with us about what it means to be a queer style coach, where to even begin when wanting to explore finding the style that feels most right for us, common blocks that get in peoples' way of finding their style, how style can be an impactful way for us to connect with our Kid Self, and SO much more!About the guest:Tess Clabby (they/them) is a queer style coach and multimedia artist. Tess works with queer, trans, and nonbinary folks to help them heal their relationship with clothes and start expressing a more authentic and expansive version of themselves through personal style. They believe that our clothes should bring us joy and that everyone deserves to have a closet full of clothes that fit their body, their personality, and their gender expression. When they're not transforming the world through queer fashion one client at a time, Tess is probably busy collaborating with their partner Dicapria on their next giant monster puppet. Ready to elevate your personal brand image? Schedule your Complimentry 1:1 Coaching Consultation In the ever-evolving world of personal branding, visibility is key. One of the most effective ways to increase this visibility and elevate your brand image is through professional photography. A well-executed photoshoot can help your brand stand out from the competition and give it a sense of quality and professionalism. But it's not just about taking high-quality pictures. It's also about choosing the right colors for your branding photography. The colors you choose can have a significant impact on how your brand is perceived, and they play a crucial role in forming clear visual identities for marketing materials. Here are two essential tips we discuss: Choosing the Best Colors for Branding Photoshoots: The colors in your photos should align with your brand's aesthetic and message. They should evoke the emotions you want associated with your brand and fit with your visual identity. Finding the Perfect Personal Brand Colors: Your personal brand colors should be consistent across all platforms, including your photos and marketing materials. This helps build a recognizable and unique personal brand. Successful personal brands have mastered the art of using colors strategically in their branding photography. And guess what? You can too! Book a 1:1 Consultation Call: Click Here Welcome to another episode of the Midlife Style School where we are delve into the exciting intersection of fasshion & mathmatics, a concept buzzing on social media called "Girl Math". In this episode, we'll explore how "Girl Math" can help us better understand the real cost of clothing and accessories. We'll also share some tips on how to shop smarter and more efficiently using the principles of "Girl Math". Topics Discussed: Understanding "Girl Math" "Girl Math" is a trend that encourages consumers to consider the long-term value of a purchase rather than just the upfront cost. The primary tool used in "Girl Math" is the cost-per-wear formula, which is calculated by dividing the price of an item by the estimated number of times you'll wear it. The lower the cost-per-wear, the better the value. Applying "Girl Math" to Fashion Purchases This approach can be particularly useful when shopping for clothing and accessories, as it shifts focus from the initial price tag to understanding the real value and longevity of an item. However, it's important to use "Girl Math" responsibly and not as a justification for overspending or purchasing items that are beyond one's means. Tips for Shopping Smarter with "Girl Math" Set a budget before you start shopping to avoid impulse purchases. Prioritize quality over quantity, investing in fewer, high-quality pieces. Calculate the cost-per-wear to understand the true value of an item. Consider the versatility of items and invest in classic pieces. Take good care of your items to extend their lifespan. Always remember, the goal is to make more sustainable and thoughtful decisions, not just to find an excuse to shop. Key Takeaways: "Girl Math" can be a valuable tool for consumers to better understand the real cost of clothing and accessories. It promotes mindful shopping and encourages a shift towards quality and sustainability. By applying these principles, you can make smarter shopping decisions that benefit both your wallet and the environment. Join me for your Midlife Reinvetion Workshop on Wednesdays in October 2023: https://www.styleguidesociety.com/Style In today's fast-paced world, personal style is often overlooked. Many people believe that style is a superficial matter or something that only matters to celebrities and fashion influencers. However, the power of personal style goes far beyond the clothes you wear. It's about expressing your personality, boosting your confidence, and making an impression on others. If you're not using the power of personal style, you're missing out on a multitude of benefits. For instance, personal style can help you stand out in a crowd, make a strong first impression, and even elevate your professional image. Not harnessing this power can leave you blending into the background, failing to communicate your unique identity effectively, and potentially missing opportunities both personally and professionally. Here are some ways you can maximize the power of personal style: Know Your Colors: Understanding which colors flatter your skin tone can dramatically enhance your appearance and boost your confidence. Assess Your Wardrobe: Take a good look at what's already in your closet. Identify the pieces you love and why you love them. This will give you a sense of your current style and what works for you. Understand Your Preferences: What do you feel most comfortable in? Which outfits make you feel powerful and confident? Knowing your preferences will help you develop a personal style that truly reflects who you are. Create a Style Guide or Outfits: Based on your color palette, wardrobe assessment, and preferences, create a style guide or set of outfits that encapsulate your personal style. This can serve as a blueprint when shopping for new pieces or putting together outfits. Implementation: Knowledge without action is futile. Apply what you've learned about your personal style in your daily life. Practice creating outfits, experimenting with different looks, and stepping out of your comfort zone. Remember, practice makes perfect! Your personal style is a powerful tool. It's an extension of your personality and a way to express yourself without saying a word. So, don't shy away from exploring and embracing your personal style – it could open up a world of possibilities!

Schedule a free mini session HERE Today, we're threading together an intriguing narrative around a subject that impacts all of us - the deep-seated connection between our self-image and the clothes we choose to wear. Let's embark on this journey together! Each one of us has a unique self-image, an internal portrait of who we believe we are. This image is shaped by a myriad of factors, including cultural norms, media portrayals of beauty, personal experiences, and societal expectations. These elements intertwine to form our sense of self, which interestingly, often manifests in our clothing choices. I recall a time when my wardrobe was a mirror of my self-esteem. Back in the day, baggy clothes were my armor against the world, allowing me to blend into the background. However, as I worked on my self-image and embraced my individuality, my attire started reflecting these changes. I began opting for more vibrant, fitting attire that mirrored my newfound confidence. Our clothing choices act as a visual representation of how we perceive ourselves. When we wear something that amplifies our self-image, it boosts our confidence, making us feel more comfortable in our skin. However, it's crucial to remember that while fashion can be a form of self-expression, it should not dictate our sense of worth. Our value lies within us, not in the labels we wear. Here are some practical tips to help you align your clothing choices with a positive self-image: Dress for yourself: Choose clothes that make you feel confident and comfortable. Experiment: Don't hesitate to try out different styles. You might discover something new about yourself! Set your own trends: Don't let fashion magazines dictate your style. Create your own unique look. Remember, clothes are an extension of who you are, not a definition of your worth. As we conclude today's episode, remember that your wardrobe is a canvas for your personality. So dress in a way that reflects the true you! Thank you for joining me today. Stay tuned for more insightful conversations on our next episode. See you next time!

Find out what's stopping you from feeling more beautiful: free mini-session Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt less than beautiful? Perhaps you've spent hours trying to perfect your look, running from one shopping trip to the next for that 'magic' makeover. You may have even considered plastic surgery - anything, just to try and feel good about yourself. But despite all these efforts, do you still feel like something is missing? If so, it might be time to take a look inside yourself instead of just searching externally - because no matter what kind of makeover we can offer; true beauty starts within. In this podcast episode, we'll explore how self-love is key in unlocking our inner beauty - and step away from being reliant on external factors that just don't last. The journey to feeling beautiful is a process. We can tend to the outside all we want and still not feel beautiful on the inside. Understanding why we can't make ourselves beautiful by changing our appearances and delving into what lies beneath the surface is how true beauty blossoms. It's not about having it all together, but rather it's allowing ourselves to think deeply about why we don't feel good enough so that this can be addressed head-on. Taking accountability for our internal dialogue and its impact on our day-to-day life is a powerful tool for reshaping our thoughts around beauty. By creating a plan to love yourself more, we are taking an active role in feeling beautiful from within. If you're ready to make some real changes today, schedule a free mini-session today.
