Hey friend!Welcome back to another installment of the Healing Series with my good friend, Dr. Christine Jehu aka CJ! On today's episode we're covering everything from deep, personal healing, to how we heal relationally, to physically healing with the help of a mountain. As this episode drops, CJ is preparing to ascend a mountain in Jackson Hole 19 times as she sets her sights on the coveted Red Hat of the 29029 Everesting Challenge. Throughout the interview we chat about what is motivating her to get back on the mountain & how she has healed & changed since her last 29029 climb in Snowbasin last year. This is truly a magical episode & one that I am very proud of as CJ & I tap in to & navigate our own healing journeys through vulnerability.I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on this episode! I also hope you take a moment to send CJ all of the positive vibes as she prepares for the mountain! To further connect with CJ you can find her at:@therealdrjehu over on Instagram The Beyond the Couch Podcast https://open.spotify.com/show/4WPbxJmv7cJPdCDTHGmVhz?si=4280058207c94aa3

Today's episode is a really special one. My friends, Dr. Christine Jehu and Meredith Coviello, and I take you behind the scenes of EmpowerHER Live, a women's personal growth conference/event, we went to in October of 2022. We dive into our intentions going into the event, how we were impacted during the event, and what led up to Christine inviting Meredith and I to try the externalizing the problem exercise I talked about in last week's episode. Together, Christine and Meredith and I debrief and process in more depth how this exercise truly helped us to CRACK WIDE OPEN in the best way possible. For both Meredith and I, this exercise and the new tools we learned from it is what'll empower us to step into the next version of ourselves. At its core, this conversation is about the incredible, beyond words trust and connection that can transpire within female friendships.
In today's Her Story episode, Dr. Christine Jehu is back on the podcast to share her experience with doing 29029 Everesting, which is a hiking endurance challenge where you climb the elevation equivalent of Mount Everest. Going into the challenge, Christine had her sights set on getting the red bib & hat, which indicates that you finished all 13 climbs (with over 2,000 feet of elevation each climb) in 36 hours. Even though she felt mentally & physically ready for the challenge, nothing went according to plan or how she envisioned it. As ambitious women, this is such a difficult headspace and situation to navigate; it's so easy to make it mean that we suck or that we're not enough. Sure, Christine didn't achieve all 13 ascents of the challenge, but... she did do 10 AND even more importantly, she gained so much MORE than she ever could've imagined in the attempt. The entire experience was 100% the opposite of a failure for her because she went to the mountain/into the challenge feeling caged and left feeling freer than she has in 8 years. This is such a beautiful conversation that reminds all of us to embrace the lessons of the experience even if it doesn't go according to plan because it might not be what you want, but it's absolutely what you need. ***Christine's previous episode on the podcastChristine's episodes on her podcast about her 29029 experience: Part 1 & Part 2
Earlier this summer, my friend Dr. Christine Jehu, taught us about the concept of the window of tolerance. This concept essentially measures our capacity to be able to tolerate the stressors of life. She explains it way better in her interview (see below). Today I'm sharing about my recent realization that my window of tolerance isn't open quite as far as I'd like and what I'm doing about it.Podcast mentioned on today's episode:94. Have you ever wondered why is it ok for women to express emotions like vulnerability and sadness but not rage? Why are men expected to suppress most of their emotions? And, what's the downfall of being able to express only a handful of emotions rather than the full spectrum?Today, we explore all of these questions with special guest, Dr. Christine Jehu. Dr. Jehu is a coffee obsessed clinical sport psychologist and podcaster, with a PhD in psychology and a black belt in karate. Her podcast is Beyond the Couch, where the mission is to break the stigma of mental health and normalize help seeking by leaving the psychobabble at the door. Dr. Jehu believes it's important to speak openly about our growth and struggles, challenge the status quo, and dive deep into self exploration in all areas of our health and wellness, because all roads lead back to our mental health. On today's episode, we discuss everything from "emotional constipation" to how if you don't allow yourself to experience the entire emotional spectrum, you lose out on your ability to truly connect with other people.*If you have kids running around, you might want to pop in some ear buds because there's some adult languageI hope you enjoy the conversation and thanks for listening! To connect with Dr. Jehu- follow her on IG @therealdrjehu- check our her podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/beyond-the-couch-with-dr-christine-jehu/id1552123698For more Socially Misguided, follow on IG @sociallymisguidedpodcast.
