#352: If you've ever felt the pressure to say yes to everything — every opportunity, every invitation, every trending topic — just because it's available, this conversation is for you. Today I'm welcoming Eni Popoola back to the podcaster. Eni is a content creator, storyteller, and former lawyer, who left Big Law three years ago and has spent every day since building a path that's entirely her own.Eni gets real about what it actually feels like to walk away from a plan you've had your whole life, why she's stopped chasing virality and started chasing alignment, and the subtle but powerful difference between friends who agree with you and friends who truly get you. We also get into what visibility has taught her about herself, how she thinks about privacy as a professional boundary, and why the soft life is something you work hard for — not something that just happens. This episode is for you if:You're wondering whether the "impressive" path is actually the right one for youYou've gone viral and realized it wasn't what you thought it would beYou want to build a following that's small but mighty and deeply alignedYou're trying to figure out what to share online and what to keep for yourselfYou're in your 30s (or approaching them) and finally starting to care less about what people thinkWe talk about...What it felt like to leave law with no plan and no expectations — and why that was actually freeingWhy she's stopped trying to go viral and what she's chasing insteadThe "appropriateness epidemic" and how she decides what belongs on the internet vs. the group chatHow increased visibility taught her she's more social than she ever thoughtWhy her friends don't have to agree with her — but they do have to understand herThe journaling practice that helps her know herself well enough to pick the right peopleWhat running her business "like a CEO" actually looks like day to dayWhy she includes a therapist on her professional teamTravel as a creative necessity — and all the places she's headed nextWhat luck means to her: you can't have it without the work behind itEpisode Links:Watch episode 206, The SECRET to Choosing Yourself with Eni Popoola: https://youtu.be/ewjZAqS-KaQ?si=6b36EVB6UhLkkPVKFollow Eni on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/enigivensunday/Follow Eni on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@enigivensunday?lang=enSponsors:IM8: IM8's Daily Ultimate Essentials replaces 16 supplements in one single drink. #350: In this episode, I'm sitting down with journalist, podcast host, and founder Gia Peppers to explore what it really means to shine—not from a place of performance, but from alignment.Because many of us have confused visibility with validation. We thought shining meant being seen, being chosen, being applauded. But what happens when the applause fades… or never comes?Gia takes us through her journey, from chasing the “dream opportunity” that was supposed to change everything, to having it fall apart in a way that forced her to confront herself, her faith, and what she actually wanted. We talk about the quiet work. The healing work. The kind of work that doesn't trend, doesn't go viral but changes everything. This conversation is about redefining success, releasing timelines, and learning how to show up fully—without needing permission, validation, or a co-sign.It's about shifting from “Who's shining a light on me?” to “What's shining through me?”And once you feel that shift… you can't unsee it.This episode is for you if…You've ever felt like you did everything “right”… and it still didn't work outYou're tired of performing your life instead of actually living itYou're in a season of healing, but questioning if it's workingYou're learning how to release timelines and trust divine timingYou're redefining what success looks like for youYou've outgrown validation, but are still figuring out what replaces itYou feel pulled in multiple directions and want to explore more than one version of yourselfYou're navigating comparison, social media fatigue, or creative burnoutYou're ready to take up space without shrinking, apologizing, or dimming your lightEpisode Links:Follow Gia on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/giapeppers/Subscribe to Gia's podcast, Healed Girl Era: https://lnkfi.re/healedgirlrerapodJoin the Creatives of Faith Community: https://www.creativesoffaith.com/Sponsors:Nebula: Go to Nebula: Spiritual Guidance Space https://nebulaapp.onelink.me/AaEA/j53blqjz and get 3 minutes for free to chat with 3 psychics matched to you.Cotton: Cotton is The Fabric of Our Lives. Most people think the worst thing in the world is being alone. But the Stoics made an important distinction between loneliness and solitude.Loneliness is the painful feeling of disconnection — the sense that you do not belong, that no one truly sees you, understands you, or stands beside you. Solitude, however, is something entirely different. Solitude is peace within yourself. It is the ability to sit quietly in your own company without needing distraction, validation, or noise. In this episode, I explore why human beings fear loneliness so deeply, how our evolutionary history shaped our need for connection, and why community matters far more than modern individualism often admits.I also reflect on Robin Williams' famous quote:“The worst thing in the world is not to be alone, but to be around people who make you feel alone.”From a Stoic perspective, this quote reveals something profound about belonging, perception, emotional dependence, and the search for inner stability. This episode is about:The difference between loneliness and solitudeWhy human beings crave connectionThe Stoic idea of a “well-ordered mind”Why some people cannot tolerate being aloneThe danger of seeking relationships from desperationFinding peace both with others and within yourselfYou do not need to become emotionally isolated to become strong. You need to become stable enough that your peace does not disappear when silence arrives.

Secure Attachment: Why Love Is a Gift, Not a RewardSecure attachment starts with one radical idea — love is not something you earn. John and Echo break down all five attachment styles (anxious, avoidant, anxious-avoidant, disorganized, and secure) and explain why the path to secure attachment means completely rewiring how you think about love, worth, and relationships. They dig into why telling yourself "I deserve love" is actually a trap, how conditional love drives both anxious clinging and avoidant distancing, and why real security comes from treating love like grace — a gift you neither earned nor can lose by messing up. Plus, they get real about a fight they had over a dress that turned out to be about something much deeper: old wounds, trust, and what it actually looks like when a partner handles your emotions right (and wrong). In This EpisodeSecure attachment means understanding love is a gift — not something earned, lost, or deserved based on behaviorBelieving you "deserve" love is a subtle trap that keeps love feeling transactional and conditionalBoth anxious and avoidant styles are rooted in the fear that love can be taken away — secure people don't live in that scarcityThe anxious-avoidant dynamic is especially volatile because each person's behavior triggers the other's deepest fearJudging others harshly is a sign you're judging yourself the same way — grace for others starts with grace for yourselfYou can love someone and still leave — tolerating bad behavior is not proof of loveIn conflict, validating your partner's emotions is not an admission of guilt — it's just the human thing to doYour childhood attachment wounds weren't your fault, and they weren't even really your parents' fault — but healing them is your responsibility nowTimestamps0:00 — Introduction & Episode Preview4:46 — How Attachment Styles Form in Childhood9:56 — Why Attachment Styles Matter in Relationships13:25 — What Secure Attachment Really Means17:40 — Love Is a Gift, Not Something You Earn25:56 — The Grace Concept: Christian Theology Meets Psychology35:36 — The Trap of Thinking You "Deserve" Love43:00 — Why Judging Others Means Judging Yourself51:04 — Real Life Conflict: The Dress Incident59:40 — Responding to Emotions Without Needing to Understand Why1:02:26 — Wrap-Up & Where to Find UsConnect

Together, they co-created the Mindful Parent Hub, a space where coaching meets creativity to support parents navigating burnout, identity shifts, and disconnection.“I was just surviving… there was no joy, no happiness. I couldn't connect with my kids.”, reflects Gemma. We explore the realities of parental burnout (what it can feel and look like), the myths that keep it hidden, and the small ways we can begin to find our way back to ourselves and to each other. This is a conversation about slowing down, asking for help, and redefining what support and belonging can look like in this season of life.

‭‭‭‭‭‭Scripture: Genesis 1:26 (ESV) Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”Proverbs 18:21 (ESV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.Joseph delivered LIFE/DEATH with his words: Genesis 40:1–23 (ESV) Some time after this, the cupbearer of the king of Egypt and his baker committed an offense against their lord the king of Egypt. And Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker, and he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison where Joseph was confined. The captain of the guard appointed Joseph to be with them, and he attended them. They continued for some time in custody. And one night they both dreamed—the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison—each his own dream, and each dream with its own interpretation. When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were troubled. So he asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in custody in his master's house, “Why are your faces downcast today?” They said to him, “We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them.” And Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Please tell them to me.” So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph and said to him, “In my dream there was a vine before me, and on the vine there were three branches. As soon as it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and the clusters ripened into grapes. Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup and placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand.” Then Joseph said to him, “This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days. In three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office, and you shall place Pharaoh's cup in his hand as formerly, when you were his cupbearer. Only remember me, when it is well with you, and please do me the kindness to mention me to Pharaoh, and so get me out of this house. For I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the pit.” When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, “I also had a dream: there were three cake baskets on my head, and in the uppermost basket there were all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating it out of the basket on my head.” And Joseph answered and said, “This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days. In three days Pharaoh will lift up your head—from you!—and hang you on a tree. And the birds will eat the flesh from you.” On the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, he made a feast for all his servants and lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants. He restored the chief cupbearer to his position, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand. But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.Infusing Life With Your WordsSing Out LoudThe Command To Sing: Psalm 105:1-2 Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! The Power Of Song In Battle: Psalm 149:6–8 (ESV) Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron,The Effects Of Singing Over Circumstance: Acts 16:25-26 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened. We strive to sing declarative songs that often repeat the main point so that we declare to our situations the powerful truth to God.2 Kings 13:18–19 (ESV) And he said, “Take the arrows,” and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground with them.” And he struck three times and stopped. Then the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.”Read/Declare Scripture Out LoudJohn 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.Revelation 1:3 (ESV) Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.Pray Out LoudLuke 11:1-2 Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “...You need to vocally declare/commitYou need to inform yourselfYou need to inform othersYou need to inform your situationYou need to inform the enemyBless Others Out LoudNumbers 6:22-27 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them, The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. “So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”James 3:3-12 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing.Proverbs 18:21 (ESV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

In this episode of The Sesh, we start with a painfully honest truth, novelty is addictive as hell. Not in the dramatic after-school-special way. In the real-life way. Learning can feel productive. Research can feel productive. Building the perfect system can feel productive. But sometimes it's just a prettier way to avoid doing the actual thing in front of you.So that's where this one starts. We get into analysis paralysis, fear of failure, bare minimum habits, and why doing ten simple reps every day beats building some giant perfect plan you'll never follow. We talk about what happens when your competitive edge fades, why rejection gets easier only after you've eaten enough no's, and how asking for things opens way more doors than most people realize. From there, this one goes where The Sesh always goes, into the weeds in the best way.We get into parenting, connection, service, letting people help you, networking, sales, social awkwardness, work, masculinity, modern comfort, forgotten skills, religion, change, collapse, and why racing games somehow became therapy. It's funny, scattered, sharp, and way more honest than polished. What we get into:Why learning can turn into avoidanceAnalysis paralysis and the fear behind overthinkingThe power of simple daily repsWhy asking is a skill most people never buildHow rejection changes youCompetition, drive, and what happens when you lose your edgeService, connection, and why receiving help can be harder than giving itThe value of trades, real-world skills, and uncomfortable growthWhy change feels threatening even though life is literally changeHow racing became meditationA bunch of side quests, because obviouslyThis episode is for you if:You keep “preparing” instead of startingYou've been stuck in your head and calling it progressYou miss feeling drivenYou struggle to ask for what you wantYou're good at helping everyone but yourselfYou like conversations that start in one place and end up somewhere way more interestingOne of the biggest takeaways from this one:A lot of us are not actually stuck because we don't know enough. We're stuck because doing the simple thing every day is less exciting than building a new theory about our life. That's the trap.Listen now, then ask yourself:What's the thing you already know you need to do, but keep replacing with something more interesting?Send us your thoughts, your feedback, and your suggestions for future episodes of The Sesh. The Habits Every Homeschool Family Needs with Leigh Bortins

Classical Conversations Podcast

What if the most important thing you teach your child has nothing to do with curriculum? In this episode of the Everyday Educator podcast, host Emma Bortins sits down with her mother-in-law and Classical Conversations founder Leigh Bortins to discuss the ideas behind her new book, The Habits: Practicing the Art of Grammar. Together they explore how naming, attending, memorizing, expressing, and storytelling build the foundational habits that help children — and homeschool families — truly flourish. If you're a homeschool mom looking for a classical Christian approach to raising lifelong learners, this conversation is for you. Leigh opens by sharing how it took her twelve years of homeschooling to truly understand what her husband had been telling her all along — that what children need most is consistency. It wasn't until she had a second set of young boys while her older sons were teenagers that the power of habits became undeniable. The routines she had built into Robert and John made it possible to keep the family functioning; without them, the whole thing would have fallen apart. From that personal foundation, the conversation moves into the heart of the book: a framework of five habits — naming, attending, memorizing, expressing, and storytelling — that Leigh calls the building blocks of a grammar education. These aren't abstract academic concepts. They're what every good mother already does instinctively: naming the dog, teaching a toddler not to touch the stove, helping a child memorize where mom will be in Walmart. The point is to recognize these habits, name them, and practice them with intention. The episode takes a fascinating turn when Emma asks about AI and technology. Leigh's position is clear: children under 12 don't need screens at all. Not because technology is inherently evil, but because children who never learn to entertain themselves, sit still, or be alone with their thoughts will struggle with self-control for the rest of their lives — with or without technology. The habits of self-governance have to come first. The episode closes with Leigh's single most important piece of advice for new homeschoolers: find a mentor. Not a curriculum. Not a method. A person who seems to be doing it well and is willing to let you watch.  What You'll Learn - What the art of grammar actually means — and why it's about far more than memorization - The five core habits of the grammar stage: naming, attending, memorizing, expressing, and storytelling - Why Leigh says attending is the one habit she'd tell every family to start practicing today - How habits shape not just academic ability but character, self-control, and spiritual formation - Why parents need to self-assess their own habits before they can effectively pass them on - What Leigh thinks about AI and technology — and her recommendation for families with children under 12 - Why feeling inadequate to homeschool is universal — and why it's not actually the obstacle you think it is - How the habits formed in the grammar years show up years later in college anatomy and chemistry courses - Where to find Leigh online and which books to read alongside The Habits   This episode of Everyday Educator is sponsored by: Summit Ministries Do you want your child to have conversations that challenge, encouragement that endure, and friends and faith for life? Most conversations about maternal mental health start in the same place: the one in five women who experience postnatal depression or anxiety. But what about the other four in five? What are we doing to help them thrive? It is a question that stops you in your tracks, because most of us have never thought to ask it.In this episode Dr Renee White sits down with Lesley Pascuzzi, an Applied Psychologist and PhD candidate at Curtin University whose research focuses on optimising the mental health and emotional wellbeing of women on their journey to parenthood, to explore what it actually means to feel emotionally well, not just the absence of illness, but something richer and more personal than that. Together, they unpack why so many women struggle to define their own wellbeing, and what it would look like to change that.It turns out that when women are given the space to think about it, they know what they need. The challenge is creating the conditions for them to hear themselves. You'll hear about:Why emotional wellbeing is so hard to defineWhat perspectives on wellbeing can teach us about inner knowingHow social media falls short for maternal mental healthWhy midwifery-led care is key to helping women thriveHow to start trusting your instincts with yourselfYou already have more answers about what you need than you might realise. Parts Work, Inner Children & The Self: A Conversation with MikeThis one is a little different — and I think you're going to love it.I invited my friend Mike onto the podcast because we've been having the most beautiful, deep conversations over voice messages for years now. It started when he reached out to me to help his friend Finja recover from anorexia, and somehow, three years later, we're still talking — about spirituality, parts work, fear, grief, and what it really means to heal. So we decided to have one of our conversations in real time, and this is it.This episode is for you if:You've ever wondered who the "you" is when you talk about loving yourselfYou feel like you're at war with different parts of yourself and can't figure out whyYou keep doing things you don't want to do and can't seem to stopYou've done the therapy, read the books, had the insights — and still feel stuckYou want to understand what parts work and Internal Family Systems (IFS) actually look like in practiceYou're curious about the difference between fear and discomfort — and whether they're even different at allYou're on a healing journey and want to go deeper than behaviour changeIn this episode, we cover:✨ Mike's Word of the Year — why he chose "discomfort" and what it actually taught him✨ The difference between your panic zone and your stretch zone — and how to know which one you're in✨ Why checking in with your parts before, during and after facing fear changes everything✨ What Internal Family Systems (IFS) actually is — explained in the most beautiful, accessible way✨ The "self" versus your parts — and why the self is not a part at all✨ The eight C's of self-energy: clarity, compassion, curiosity, courage and more✨ Why all parts — even the ones that scare you — are rooted in love✨ The difference between exiles and protectors, and how protectors keep you from your pain✨ Why your protectors think you're still the age you were when the wound happened✨ What happens to a part once it's healed — and where it goes✨ The reframe that stopped me in my tracks: it's not self-love, it's part love✨ My story of sitting at a traffic light, looking in the mirror, and saying "I see you"✨ Why connection — not fixing — is what parts actually need✨ The fear of loss at the root of every fear (try this experiment for yourself this week)✨ Why grief might be the hardest emotion to sit with — and why it's also the most necessary✨ The paradox of loss: you've lost something AND you've always had everything you need✨ Why healing is seeing through illusions — and what that actually means in practicePowerful quotes from the episode:

Whether it's a frustrating family member, a difficult coworker, or a friend with completely different values, we pour energy into trying to fix people who never actually change. And somehow we end up feeling like the problem. In this episode Sami and Angela unpack one of the most liberating ideas you'll ever hear in a relationship context: accepting someone is not the same as approving of them. The Masterful Coach

Isn't it fascinating that we can work so hard and do all of the things, yet still feel a lack of fulfillment? And when we do have those moments of fulfillment, we often credit it to hustling and overachieving, when that's not actually where it's coming from. Your next level of success is not going to come from pushing harder or spreading yourself more thin; it is going to come as you can slow down and hold still long enough for your brilliance to begin to shine.Today, we are talking about a topic very close to my heart: wholeness over hustle–and how finding balance in life allows you to heal from burnout. This theme has been woven throughout this podcast over the years, but I wanted to explore it exclusively today for one very special reason. The book I have co-authored with 12 of my Master Coaches, She Rises: Insights and Wisdom from the Women of the Masterful Coach Collective, is coming out this month, and my chapter is all about why prioritizing wholeness over hustle needs to be the new standard for high-achieving women who want to actually create the life they desire. For too long, hustle culture has conditioned us to believe that we must constantly do more. Not only are we supposed to work harder when it comes to business and finances, but in our personal lives as well. There is pressure—especially for women—to be the glue holding everything together. This is not sustainable, and it's ultimately causing unbelievably high levels of stress in more of us every day. If you are a high achiever and you're ready to feel at peace, deeply alive, and actually fulfilled, instead of like you're always running on empty, this episode is truly for you. When you intentionally make space in your life for more downtime and fewer things on your to-do list, not only will you be able to achieve more, but you will connect more in relationships and live the fullest, richest life possible. Truly mastering yourself, your life, and your emotions comes when you know your worth beyond the confines of hustle culture and can cultivate the stillness necessary for real success. I've witnessed the power of this magical secret to personal fulfillment firsthand, and I'm passionate about teaching each of you to achieve it too. Let's do it!What you'll learn:How my chapter of She Rises provides specific evidence of how slowing down is a strategy for successWhy you can break the pattern of overachieving when you value yourself moreWhat over-responsibility means and a surprising statistic about how it impacts womenHow to begin to know your worth outside of hustle cultureWhy inspiration and creativity can't flourish when you are overwhelmed by trying to prove yourselfYou can read the full show notes here.Connect with Molly ClaireThe new book, She Rises: Insights and Wisdom from the Women of the Masterful Coach Collective, is coming soon!
