We preview Fight to Win 122 in Scottsdale, AZ, CJJ worlds and briefly talk about the finals of SOGI 3.To kick off the show Maine and Emil talk news. In this weeks news we talk about the latest ADCC division movements with Keenan moving up in weight and switching placed with fellow American Mason Fowler. Grappling Industries announces that it is working in partnership with Third Coast Grappling and the winner of the upcoming Houston Absolute will get a slot on the next 3CG. In other 3CG news the promotion has announced an upcoming split from FloGrappling to form their own service. Fight to Win has announced their first international event taking place in the UK. Maine announces that he will be the official backstage interviewer for the ADCC 2019 social media account and the Grappling Rewind. In the recap section we break down Fight to Win 121 in Austin Texas. This event we see Nathiely Karoline defeat Gabi Garcia and take the Female Heavy Weight title showcasing great sweeps, and control. We run thorough CJJ worlds and talk about how Eddie Bravo has announced that EBI is coming back after all the CJJ champions are established. Then we briefly talk about the finals of SOGI 3.Then we talk about the first episode of the Shugyo Invitational including an Interview with the events promoter Phill Schwartz; where he shares a ton of information about the promotion and the pay structure and how the event works. This week on the Grappling Rewind Podcast we have three hosts Maine, Josh, and Austin. Recapping the weeks events and previewing the brackets for the 2019 IBJJF World championships. As well as making their picks for who they think will take each division. To kick the show off we start out with a little bit of news. Xande Ribeiro has announced he is pulling out of ADCC with a hand injury and subsequent surgery. Shane Jamil Hill Taylor has also undergone emergency appendix surgery most likely putting him out of the worlds as well. In this weeks competitor beef news Erberth Satons and Nicholas Meregali have beef. After that we move into our recap of Polaris 10. With Nicky Ryan winning his first Combat Niu Jitsu match vs Urijah Faber and Craig Jones def. Matheus Lutes in a battle of styles. We talk about how amazing of a match Ash Williams versus Ethan Crelinsten was and the arguments on either side of the decision. We talk about some of the more technical aspects behind the Caol Uno vs Leigh Remedios, and Richie Martinez vs Miha Perhavec. We also talk about hot prospect Nick Rodriguez subbing Ash Amos via rear-naked choke, Nicks improvements, and potential areas he is working on in the lead up to ADCC. Then we move into our recap of the Eddie bravo invitational combat jujitsu worlds two. This event featured A number of late replacement card changes that significantly change the landscape of card. Geo Martinez was out, Jon Calestine, was out, Barret Yoshida was out. And we saw the rest of the field be closely matched for the majority of the event. After that we move into brief recaps of Finishers 9 and SOGI 2. These events featured A number of hot prospect grapplers from the East Coast and beyond. And include some real highlight moments, including one of the most bending arms the team has ever seen without an injury. After that we move into the preview of the 2019 IBJJF World championships taking place later this week we go through every single black belt adult bracket. Pick who we believe will take each division. And talk about some of the most exciting matchup’s that we foresee for the tournament. We also talk about the prize money available for each division. And what we think the toughest matchup’s for the potential victors will be as they move through each side of the bracket. We also talk about how significantly different this a vent is due to the seeding that comes with the money associated with the prices. We see many grapplers on the same team matched up on the same side of the bracket and many affiliations meeting earlier before the finals. This is truly not one to miss. Recorded 5-27-2019

On this weeks show Maine and Emil get right into it. No April Fools Jokes, (because we recorded the show before April 1) we get right into BJJ news. Tapology has added submission grappling results to their website. Making it a one stop shop for a multitude of combat sports results. If you are a grappling nerd like we are this is pretty exciting news. Then we get into the recap of Fight to Win 106 in Fort Lauderdale Florida. This event paid out over $46,000. Which is great to see. We talk about Cyborg. A whole slew of title fights on the card. As well as a Rewind Recommends match between Karen Antunes and Talita Alencar which was Fight of the Night and a match for the F2W Fly Weight Championship. We talk about an amazing choke from Rafael Formiga Barbosa Vs. Alexandre Pimentel Choke which was Submission of the Night For the Masters Black Belt Welter Weight Title. As well as a number of other title fights on the card. And some really stand out performances from the black belts. After that we moved the preview section of the show where we preview Quintet Fight Night 3 the Females. Do we have a preview for you. We (Emil) dug deep and found out information about all of the grapplers on the lineup for this light weight fight night. We took a look at all four teams. Team 10th planet, Grace Gundrum, Liz Carmouche, Elvira Karppinen, Fabiana Jorge, and Illia, Team BJJ Kunoichi with multiple time black belt world champ Rikako Yuasa. Team Sun Chlorella featuring Sara McMann, and team Deep Jewels with the heaviest grappler King Reina, and her judo background. We had a great time previewing this event, and it made us even more excited to speculate on potential matchup’s for the following week. After that we preview KASAI Pro 5 and it’s 205 pound light heavyweight tournament. It is an outstanding the stacked bracket. Where every single grappler announced has a legitimate shot at taking the title. Literally no one in the lineup needs introduction Felipe Pena who is Felipe Pena, The Australian phenom Craig Jones, CJJ 185 pound champ and ADCC trials stand out Jon “Thor” Blank, A man already halfway to a 2019 grand slam Kaynan Duarte, East Coast ADCC Trials winner Aaron ‘Tex’ Johnson, Jackson Sousa, Rustam Chsiev, and Pedro Marinho the Kasai Qualifier winner earring his spot in this monster bracket. Then we move into a brief preview of the Superfights featuring match ups between Marcos Tinoco vs Romulo Barral. Dante Leon fresh off his King of the Mats 5 victory this weekend now matched up with Edwin Najmi, And Mayssa Bastos vs Fiona Watson. This card is sure to produce some fire matchup’s. After all that we get into the staple of the show and preview Fight to Win 107. This event takes place in Tyngsboro Massachusetts. (Boston) and serves as an New England showcase for the areas (and beyond) grapplers. This event features Ana Carolina Vieira, Rick Hawn, Nick Rodriguez, Troy the night pigeon Everett. An outstanding lineup of other grapplers. There are some big names to watch on this card. After that we move it to the outer of the show next week we will have a guest host/ Analyist on the show Austin Jones. Who is going to fill-in and help the team break down the weeks events. On this weeks show Josh returns from Colorado and his first family vacation ever to recap the IBJJF 2018 World Masters. We cover the Masters 1 division for the Men and the Women and talk about the various ages of top competitors. We also briefly touch on Vagner Rocha being a "Nasty Man" and his recent CJJ on XFN 21 where he "Spoiler" wins via face smother. Josh also brings up his thoughts on last weeks show and highlights some items he though we missed.
