We break down the entire WNO 28 main card from FloGrappling, and UFC BJJ Episode 1. We discuss the main event where Mica Galvão put on a dominant performance to capture the WNO Middleweight Championship from Jonnatas Gracie. In the news section of the show, we discuss the debut of the much-anticipated UFC BJJ: Road to the Title, which is now airing daily for free on the UFC's YouTube channel. We analyze the format, a TUF-style reality show featuring two teams of lightweight (155 lbs) and welterweight (170 lbs) grapplers competing in the CJI-style pit and ruleset. We talked about the coaches, Mikey Musumeci and Rerisson Gabriel, and discussed their eventual championship fight at the finale. 10th Planet Chicago's Adam Fernandez joined the podcast this week. We discuss his experience competing at Midwest Finishers Sub Only hosted by black belt Omar Ocasio at his gym 10th Planet Lombard. ADCC has an incredibly unusual ruleset and point system. To help everyone get more familiar with these rules before the West Coast Trials this weekend on Flograppling (https://www.flograppling.com/events/7379684-2022-adcc-west-coast-trial) I wanted to talk about some of the unique aspects of this tournament. I've been watching ADCC live since 2009, and despite becoming very familiar with the rules over the years, there are even a couple new things I didn't know until recording this.For some footage of things referenced...here's the Craig Jones vs Mason Fowler match from 2019 where you can see multiple instances of Craig not getting scored on due to him having a submission locked up while going from top to bottom. The link is time-coded to 7:44. Notice Craig is never on bottom in this transition for more than 3 seconds without the guillotine locked up.
