Terren O'dell was one of the most promising amateur motocross talents of the 2000's. As an amateur, he routinely finished in front of some of the most well known names in motocross you will see today. Some of those names include Eli Tomac, Dean Wilson, Justin Barcia, Ian Trettel, Blake Wharton, Malcom Stewart, Vince Friese, Cole Seely, just to name a few. A very promising future was stunted by the ramifications of the 2008 US financial crisis, which saw most of the factory teams hesitant to support many riders. After a couple years of struggling to secure a ride, Terren made the decision to retire from professional racing to support his family. He spent most of the following years relatively absent from the sport, but made a fiery return to competitive racing in 2020 at the Motoplayground Race in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where he was the class of the field in most of his motos. It was clear to everyone that Terren still had it, and in 2021 Terren qualified for Loretta's in the +25 class where he made a strong showing and finished 6th overall. Terren is an awesome guy and we had a blast sitting down to talk to him.
Today, I am talking to Cole Seely who is an American professional motocross racer. His impressive career includes turning pro in 2009, debuting at the 2009 Phoenix Supercross, winning 5 Supercross Lites races, premier class winner, 2015 Rookie of the Year, and represented the US in the 2017 Motocross of Nations. In this episode, we discuss Cole's mental health journey through his career and how he has had to adapt to life in retirement. Cole shares how he would use his anxiety in his career to enhance his races through excitement and stimulation, and now in retirement he had to find new outlets of release. Cole speaks about his mental health training and how it is just as important as his physical training. He discusses how he has created a regime of therapy, journalling, diet, and physical exercise to live his best life, both mentally and physically. Please rate and review the podcast if you enjoyed it. Much Love, SW. For the full show notes and to learn more, head to www.livin.org @livinorg @coleseely #itaintweaktospeak. This week Darkside brings on Trent Maher and Tool Man Dan to discuss Cole Seely's first time in studio, the epic Dillon vs. Betts conflict, Cole's openness on mental health, and a bonus call to Matthes.
Eli's number one fan Dylan came on and went a little nutty when Chris Betts did what Chris Betts does. Phil came on and even though his results have been better, he was not happy about calling in. Trey Canard hasn't been on in a long while and it was great to have the great Trey on the show. Cole Seely is in studio and providing the insight only a rider of his caliber can. Great show. CARROTS!

Cole Seely had an incredible career as a professional Supercross and Motocross racer. He came from the bottom as a full privateer and ended up a main event winner on a Factory Honda machine, something that rarely happens in this sport. He has since retired and is going hard in his retirement, trying to chase all of his passions like freeriding, custom bike building and drifting. He's one of the nicest and most unique guys in the sport and it was a pleasure to sit down and chat for 3-hours.SPONSORS:Alpinestars Tech 10 Supervented Boot - https://www.alpinestars.com/products/tech-10-supervented-bootsDriTimes: http://www.dritimes.comAlbek Co - @albeckcohttp://www.cmbtnutrition.com.au - Promo Code GYPSY - 10% OFFhttp://www.macrokitchen.com.au - Promo Code GYPSYGANG10 - 10% OFFhttp://www.rivalinkdesignco.com - CODE: GYPSYGANG 15%http://www.mxstore.com.auhttp://www.crickstweed.com.auhttp://www.fisthandwear.com - CODE: GYPSYGANG 15%http://www.dixxonquality.com.au - CODE: GYPSYGANG 15%http://www.boost.com.au
Of course we are biased, but it is hard to argue against the fact that motocross at its highest level is the most physically demanding sport on the planet. To perform at their peak, racers have to have endurance, strength, agility, and raw power, which they can't achieve eating doughnuts and cheeseburgers. Well, maybe Jett can. To get a little insight into how pro racers are fueling their bodies, we grabbed Blake Savage, former pro motocross racer and current motocross trainer. He's worked with Ken Roczen, Cole Seely, Christian Craig, Chase Sexton among others. Listen in to see if you can take some of the tips and nutrition guides Savage shares and apply them to your weekend warrior program.

Benny Bloss is running his own privateer effort for the quickly approaching Nationals and we talk to him about how that transpired. Cole Seely was part of FMX Fite Club last week and we check in with the former Factory rider to see what he though of that. Weege joins us from the Loretta Lynn's Ranch to talk all things amateur National. We have Kellen Brauer in studio too!
Brandon Hartranft discusses 2020 SX and upcoming Natls. Cole Seely has LOTS going on and is having a bunch of fun in retirement. Scott Thomson in studio
Presented by Fly Racing On this week's Fly Racing Swapmoto Podcast, we phoned up our buddy Cole Seely to get his take on the Monster Energy Supercross reboot in Salt Lake City, get the scoop on his new KTM 450 SX-F, and see how the freshly retired racer handled the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine. Jokingly, Seely told us that he "retired just in time," to avoid the uncertainty of the 2020 race season and the upcoming non-stop racing as the break in action has effectively eliminated this winter's off-season. Enjoy!
Jason Weigandt chats with the former 450SX race winner and factory Honda rider in this edition of the Racer X Exhaust Podcast. Seely finds himself in a unique position compared to his old racing peers: while they're pulling their hair out trying to stay fit and focused during this coronavirus break, Seely is well past that pressure, having retired after the 2019 season. Now he's working on his YouTube channel with bike builds, including a recent move to purchase a KTM after spending most of his racing career on Hondas. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is presented by Yoshimura.
Jarod DeAnda is joined by Supercross star, 2 wheel ripper, Circuit Spirit drift organizer and all around adrenaline junkie. they talk drift cars, motorcycles and good times....
Well, COVID-19 has stopped all racing series, so we'll spend the next hour and a half picking each others brains of our miscellaneous thoughts. From season expectations, to Cole Seely's new coffee brand, to the future of electric motocross.
A 250 championship is usually followed with thoughts of how the young champ will perform in the big-bike class. Adam Cianciarulo's 250 National Motocross Championship is different. This is a moment that is frozen in time because of the journey it took Adam—and his team—to get there. In this episode of the Racer X Exhaust Podcast, Jason Weigandt recaps the day at the Ironman National and logs some interviews during the actual post-race championship party for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki, including chats with Adam, his coach Nick Wey, team owner Mitch Payton, and even Cole Seely, who stopped by to talk retirement and congratulate his friend. Most of all, this all provides a little perspective on a rider who has more perspective on himself than most. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is presented by Yoshimura.
In this episode Darkside has Randy Richardson and Brad Gebhart on to recap Pulpmx Show #395 including how cool Damon Bradshaw was, Jeff Stanton and Cole Seely calls, caller Dylan, Van Hagar and more including the second ever ' Hello Pookie' segment.

Team Honda HRC's Cole Seely saw his summer come to a premature end last week when he crashed while training in Florida and suffered a dislocated and broken shoulder. The SoCal native will undergo surgery today to repair his shoulder, but we caught up with him last night to chat about everything under the sun: from what effect this injury will have on his career, to driving drift cars one-handed, to his girlfriend making a living off of Instagram! We really enjoyed this most recent chat with CS14...grab a chair and enjoy! Thanks to Husqvarna, Roy's Cyclery, Scott Motorsports, and Intense Cycles.
Cole Seely can say he's done one thing on a supercross track no one else has: ridden with a license plate. He might have connections at factory Honda HRC, but he built his dual sport CRF450L himself, and then got a surprise when he saw how capable the bike was when blitzing whoops and scrubbing jumps at the test track. But Seely has always done things his way, and his off-track interests make him much different than most of his peers. In the serious business on the track, though, he's just trying to match himself. After massive, career-threatening injuries in 2018, Cole admits he's not back to his old form, and he's had to adjust his own standards as he continues the rebuilding process. Can he get back to his old racing self? He reveals quite a bit in this interview with Jason Weigandt. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.
Featuring the following guests: Henry Wiles, Cole Seely, John Ewert, Danny Eslick and Ryan Sipes
Cole Seely began his 450cc rookie season in 2015 riding for the factory Honda team. He was named Monster Energy Supercross Rookie of the Year in 2015. He finished the 2019 Supercross season in 7th place and is currently in 10th place in the Lucas Oil Pro Motorcross Championship. Seely also recently was featured in the Sublime with Rome music video for their new release “Light On”.
It was news both tragic and shocking: in January, former pro racer Blake Savage went riding with his brother-in-law, Ken Roczen. He crashed and broke the C5, C6, and C7 vertebrae in his neck, leaving him with limited feeling and movement. Over the last two months, Blake—who is the trainer for Roczen, Chase Sexton, Cole Seely, and Christian Craig—has fought hard to regain some movement and feeling, but his battle will continue as he attempts to walk again. What's the experience like? Jason Weigandt chatted with Blake about the process for this podcast, and Blake got raw with the emotional highs and lows, the work, and his hopes for the future. Blake had his own insurance at the time of the injury, but few policies can stand up to the huge medical costs associated with this injury. You can visit Road2Recovery.com to donate to Blake's cause—the more therapy he can do, the better his chances. For now, Blake keeps working, while also continuing to provide training advice to his riders. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.
In 2015, Cole Seely solidified his place among the top 450SX riders, notching his debut premier-class Supercross win as well as numerous podium appearances, finishing third in the final points standings and earning official Rookie of the Year honors. 2018 proved to be a challenge for Seely as he suffered a nearly career-ending crash at the Tampa Supercross, which sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Seely competed at the Daytona Supercross, finishing 13th.
Featuring the following guests: Ryan Sipes, Steward Baylor, Cole Seely and Luke Neese

Honda HRC's Cole Seely made his return to Monster Energy Supercross yesterday at Anaheim One after missing most of the 2018 season due to horrific injuries he suffered while running second in last year's championship. Always one of the fun riders to work with, we decided to try something different with this episode of the Swapmoto Live Podcast, presented by Ogio. Starting as soon as Cole arrived at Angel's Stadium, we shadowed him throughout his day to give listeners some insight as to what a factory rider goes through on race day at a Supercross. We were surprised at how much we actually learned about the process, and we're sure you will enjoy this exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Seely's day at Anaheim One. Thanks to the entire Honda HRC staff for allowing us to invade the semi, as well as to the show's sponsors, Ogio, RynoPower, Scott Motorsports, Intense Cycles, and Roy's Cyclery.

We caught up with Cole Seely to talk about his return to racing after his near career-ending injury in Tampa last year as the siege on Anaheim is just over a week away. We always enjoy our time with Cole, especially when he puts Kevin in his place. Enjoy, y’all.
She’s all business. She’s a total badass and at the track, Ken Roczen and Cole Seely call her mom. Mandie Fonteyn is team Honda HRC’s Account Manager which means any and all official team info runs through her. 2019 will be her 7th year on the job and I wanted to give a comprehensive look […]

Cole Seely is officially back on a damn dirt bike! That was not a given after some serious consideration and soul-searching after his latest severe injury. We’re pumped for our friend and are glad to welcome him back on under better circumstances. Austin Forkner didn’t have the outdoor season he wanted after a rollercoaster summer, but we know he is full of fire and will learn from it and come out swinging. We dig his personality on and off the track and always enjoy catching up. Racer X’s Wheels will be on to discuss The Smagical Benefit Ride Day coming up next weekend at Sweeney’s MX Playground. You can check out the details and info at www.Road2Recovery.com. Wheels has taken the lead on this ride and we’ll get the latest from him tonight. Tim Ritchie with Red Bud Mx is getting ready for MXoN's. Tommy Hahn is teaming up with Oak Hill Mx and starting a training facility. Cole Seely is back on a bike and prepping for 2019. And Kris Keefer is just freakin raddddddd
There was a time when Cole Seely didn't want to race anymore—and we're not talking about his February crash, which resulted in a broken pelvis and sacrum and a damaged abdominal wall. He did consider calling it a career for a moment then, but he's since regained his mobility and overcome pain and fear. Now he's planning to be 100 percent ready come Anaheim 1 2019. Before that, though, he actually did quit the sport once, back in his amateur years. He returned as a relatively unknown prospect, then surprised even himself by getting a fill-in ride, taking it all the way to a podium, and beginning the journey toward a career as a 450 factory rider. This is Cole Seely's story—and gladly, it's one that's not over yet. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is sponsored by the good folks over at Yoshimura.
How does Adam Cianciarulo celebrate his Vegas win? By coming in studio of course. Randy Richardson is in as well and that's rad. We call Nick Wey, Cole Seely and Zach Osborne (for show #338!) to talk SX and then Eric Peronnard comes in, share some laughs and learn a few things. It's awesome!
Those that have listened to our show over the years know we’ve always had a special place here at DMXS for Team Honda HRC’s Cole Seely. He has always been one of the most humble and appreciative riders in the sport and we just plain dig his vibe. We’ll get the latest on his recovery and all the cool stuff he’s doing to pass the time while recovering from the crash in Tampa. Race Day LIVE host Daniel Blair will join us for some behind-the-scenes bench racing and all the other cool stuff in his life he never has time to talk about. Daniel has been straight killing it in front of the camera and we look forward to catching up and also getting some legit hair care tips. During a week spent stalking the top riders in Florida, Jason Weigandt hooked up with Ken Roczen and trainer Blake Savage for afternoon run near Ken's house in Clermont, Florida. Once Weege realized he wasn't going to have a heart attack, he turned on the recorder to ask Ken about his recovery and his philosophies on training, then spoke with Savage to learn more about his background. Savage carries out a fitness program prescribed by trainer Peter Park, and using his own experience as a racer and his personal connections with Roczen (his sister is Kenny's fiancée), he's become quite a secret weapon to several top riders, including Adam Cianciarulo, Cole Seely, Christian Craig, and Chase Sexton. Episode 3 of the Racer X Exhaust podcast gets you right in the middle of a training day to get a feel for how it all goes down. The Racer X Exhaust Podcast is sponsored by Yoshimura.
Cole took a few minutes to talk to us during a busy race day
Honda HRC’s Cole Seely had an off-night in Arizona after an impressive showing at the first Monster Energy Supercross Triple Crown race of the year at Anaheim 2. Cole was forced to miss some of the critical testing and prep time this off-season after having some hardware removed from his finger, but we fully expect him to be battling up front all year. Cole is truly one of the good guys in the sport and we appreciate him always putting up with us and our nonsense. Monster Energy/Knich/Factory Yamaha’s Cooper Webb suffered an injury in December that kept the hopeful 450SX championship contender less than 100% coming into the season. He put in his best ride last week in Glendale and we’ll get his thoughts on the season, doubters and anything else he wants to get off his chest tonight. The 9th Annual Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross (RCSX) returns to the Daytona International Speedway for the biggest two-day amateur supercross event in the world in just a few short weeks from now. It’s always a pleasure to get MX Sports’ Tim Cotteron the show and we’ll get all the details and new additions to the race this year. Check out www.RaceDaytona.com for signup and event information. We look forward to seeing you there! Those that have listened to our show over the years have enjoyed the always entertaining Wes Kain stories from every corner of the country. Wes is one of our best friends in the real world and we wanted our listeners to hear directly from the legend himself tonight. Download Episode! Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin continued his off-season winning streak with a dominating performance at the Red Bull Straight Rhythm after collecting a cool million at the Monster Energy Cup. We're pretty sure he would have won the Rockstar Energy race if they had one. We have a ton to catch up on tonight with one of our favorite Frenchmen of all time. Team Honda HRC is always trying to shave weight off of their equipment and Cole Seely was carrying around some extra hardware in his finger that had to go. He was forced to sit out the MEC after surgery but will be ready for battle when Anaheim rolls around. Cole is always a pleasure to have on the show and we look forward to hearing him talk and stuff. One of our loyal listeners in England pointed out that it has been far too long since we've had Wil Hahn on the show. Sir John Edwards can no longer proclaim such madness. Wil is back with a vengeance tonight. Zach Osborne finally achieved a long time dream to be part of the United States MXdN Team and though it didn't turn out great, he's a hero and joins us to to discuss the experience. Ryan Gauld and Justin Thompson join the guest list to discuss the Canadian National series that was this year and the interesting future prospects. Cole Seely’s road to Supercross stardom is a lot different than most. It starts in an apartment in California, where his parents put everything they have into Cole’s career….and then Cole quits racing at 16. Right now, Cole is at the top of his game and at 27, the next few years should define his career.
