Sheriff Sam Page about his Republican primary race against Phil Berger for North Carolina Senate District 26. Page describes the emotional experience of waiting for hours while election officials counted provisional ballots in Guilford and Rockingham counties. Later, Jensen talks with state Rep. David Willis of Union County to discuss the potential implications of the District 26 situation for the state legislature and the upcoming legislative session. Willis stresses that it would be premature to declare the race decided. The Word of God speaks a great deal about forgiveness. Actually, the Bible instructs believers that forgiveness is a command. Forgiveness is not optional, but required for the believer. It is rooted in the character and nature of the Lord and how He commands us to live. Forgiveness is foundational for healthy spiritual life of the believer.
Most people don't like change... it challenges them, frightens them, and even anger them! But as a believer, we are called to be changed and transformed into the image of Christ. Today, Pastor David speaks on the issue of change. You will not want to miss this service!
As believers we are called to speak the truth in love and to be people of honesty and integrity. However, that is not always the practice of those who claim faith in Jesus Christ. Today the message is entitled, “Do You … Gaslight?” The term has become a buzz word in our society and as believers, we need to make sure we do not fall into this practice.
We begin a new sermon series the first Sunday of 2026. As followers of Christ, we are called to examine our lives. This year we will spend time investigating our own lives by asking a series of questions beginning with, “Do you…?” Today's message is “Do you prioritize?” Whatever you prioritize will influence your decisions. As followers of Christ we are called to seek first His kingdom. This Sunday we will explore what it means to make Jesus first, and how to live it out.
Today is Christmas Sunday! Along with singing Christmas Carols, Pastor David will be speaking on "Dangerous Birth!" The Birth of Jesus was dangerous to the enemy because His incarnation changed the world forever! Do not miss this opportunity to celebrate the Christmas season together and be challenged to keep the birth of Jesus, our "Immanuel," as the center of this holiday.
Tune in here to this Thursday edition of Breaking With Brett Jensen! Breaking Brett Jensen opens the show with details from a press conference held today by U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina Russ Ferguson and the Charlotte FBI office. The briefing addressed the two most recent stabbings on the light rail, including the August attack that resulted in the death of Ukrainian immigrant Iryna Zarutska. Among the key updates was that Oscar Solarzano, the suspect in the most recent stabbing, has been charged federally with illegal reentry and committing an act of violence on a mass transportation system. Later, Jensen interviews several key local figures: former CMS board member Lisa Cline, North Carolina Rep. David Willis and U.S. Rep. Tim Moore. With Cline, he discusses the inner workings of the school board and the recent raise given to Superintendent Crystal Hill. Willis talks about the committees that continue to meet despite the General Assembly not being in session. Finally, with Moore, Jensen covers developments in Washington, D.C., as they relate to North Carolina, including a recent story involving the Lumbee Tribe in the eastern part of the state. Tune in here to this Monday edition of Breaking With Brett Jensen! Breaking Brett Jensen opens the show by discussing a story he broke on social media: The City of Charlotte has settled a seven-year lawsuit brought by Lance Patterson, the husband of newly appointed Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Estella Patterson. Jensen notes that the $99,999 payout is significant because City Manager Marcus Jones does not need City Council approval for settlements under $100,000. Another notable detail is that the payout will be divided between two parties: Patterson will receive $40,000, and his legal team at James McIlroy & Diehl will receive the remaining amount of $59,000. Later, Jensen speaks with North Carolina Rep. David Willis, who represents Union County. Willis discusses “Iryna’s Law,” which took effect in North Carolina today. He was a key advocate for the measure, which honors slain Ukrainian immigrant Iryna Zarutska. Zarutska's death on Charlotte's light rail made national and international headlines back in August. Among the several components of the law, Willis says the main provisions address cashless bail and pretrial release for violent offenders. He adds that the law also revises the definition of violent offenses in an effort to reduce the burden on inexperienced magistrates. Willis concludes the interview by noting that the law aims to better address the mental health needs of violent offenders. Listen here for all of this and more on Breaking With Brett Jensen. Pastor David gives an update on the Poland missions trip and will be preaching on “Dangerous Resolve.” In a flaky world we need to resolve to serve Jesus and live a consistent, Christian life. This message will teach you practical ways to live this out in your daily life.
Secrets can be a very dangerous thing! Secrecy can be due to being ashamed or embarrassed of something we do or have done. Our relationship with Christ is not one of those things. As a matter of fact we are called to spend time in a secret place so that we can model the Christian lifestyle to others. As believers we are called to cultivate a lifestyle of intimacy with Christ and to be people who spend time together with the Lord. Today we will explore the importance of spending time in the secret place with Christ.
As a believer, we are challenged with our thought life on a daily basis. Today, Pastor David speaks a powerful message entitled, “How to Develop a Dangerous Mind for Christ.” He shares biblical truths to help you overcome the lies and deception that far too many believers are ensnared by. In a world where everyone wants to tell you what you are, followers of Christ need to grasp the reality of who they are. Knowing who you are in Christ is a powerful source of authority. We explore the powerful message of God's Word to the believer.

Tune in here to this Thursday's edition of Breaking With Brett Jensen! Breaking with Brett Jensen kicks the show off by talking about the chaotic political situation in Cabarrus County, and a new bill aimed at addressing North Carolina’s teacher shortage. Jensen begins by diving into the controversy surrounding Cabarrus County Board Chair Chris Measmer, who is accused of manipulating board rules to ensure his allies remain in control after his appointment to the state Senate. Despite not officially resigning, Measmer’s decision to vote for his own replacement has sparked outrage and is expected to lead to legal challenges. Later, Jensen discusses House Bill 806 with state representatives David Willis and Heather Rhyne. This bill aims to combat the teacher shortage by allowing schools to hire individuals with four-year degrees in specific subjects, even if they don’t have teaching certification. This bill is seen as a potential solution to the staffing crisis, providing higher pay than substitutes but lower than certified teachers. Lastly, Jensen shifts focus to crime statistics in Mecklenburg County, sharing insights from CMPD's press conference on first-quarter 2025 data. The report reveals a decrease in overall crime, with violent crime down by 17% and property crime reduced by 4%. The department also highlights successful initiatives, including targeted operations to reduce dangerous driving and a significant drop in violent crime in key areas of the city. Kate Adie presents stories from Pakistan, Germany, Portugal, Senegal and the United States. Pakistan's government has issued an order for illegal migrants to leave the country by the beginning of November. This includes around 1.7 million Afghans, according to official figures. Among the many caught in the middle are nearly 2,000 Afghans who risked their lives working with or for British armed forces during the war in Afghanistan. They've been promised visas by the British government that would allow them to resettle in the UK, but many now fear they will be forced to return to Afghanistan, to an uncertain future. Caroline Davies has been speaking to them. Recent state elections in Germany showed a clear rise in support for the far-right Alternative for Germany party, or AfD. The results have sent shockwaves across Germany, as Damien McGuinness found out. An ancient farming village in the Portuguese mountains is fighting plans for an open-cast lithium mine on its doorstep. The lithium would be used for electric car batteries, as part of Europe's green energy transition. But local villagers say the mine will damage their environment, and their way of life. As Europe tries to reduce its dependence on China for lithium imports, the outcome of this dispute is being watched closely, as Caroline Bayley reports. In Senegal, many parents send their sons to study and live in Islamic schools called daaras, often because they cannot afford to raise them themselves. While many daaras provide good education and care, some subject their pupils to abuse and neglect, or force them to beg in the streets. Sam Bradpiece travelled to the capital, Dakar to investigate the story. Although Hollywood's writers have recently ended their five-month strike, the actors strike continues. Virtually all Hollywood film and TV production has stalled, and negotiations last week ended without agreement. David Willis has been covering the story. David Willis had been upstairs in Waterstones Bookshop when he came downstairs and found the lights were turned off and the doors locked. He was trapped inside the store! Not knowing what else to do, he turned to Twitter and tweeted: “Hi @Waterstones. I’ve been locked inside of your Trafalgar Square bookstore for 2 hours now. Please let me out.” Not too long after his tweet, he was rescued. It’s good to have a way to get help when we’re in trouble. Isaiah said there’s Someone who will answer our cries when we’re trapped in a problem of our own making. The prophet wrote that God had charged his people with practicing their religious devotion irresponsibly. They were going through the motions of religion but masking their oppression of the poor with empty and self-serving rituals (Isaiah 58:1–7). This didn’t win divine favor. God hid His eyes from them and didn’t answer their prayers (1:15). He told them to repent and display outward acts of caring for others (58:6–7). If they did that, He told them, “you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I ‘If you do away with the yoke of oppression with the pointing finger and malicious talk’ ” (v. 9). Let’s get close to the poor, saying to them: “I am here.” For God hears our cries for help and says to us, “I am here.”

On this episode our guest David Willis shares with us his ministry journey and the importance of building on a firm foundation through obedience. It is David's heart “To awaken fervent love for Jesus in the Body of Christ, develop gifts and talents, and write songs of encountering the Secret Place.” David and Hailee have been leading worship in the Southeast Texas region for over 17 years. During that time they have served the local body through different leadership positions. They've had the privilege of serving on staff at their home church (One City Church in Beaumont, TX) the past 8 years under the leadership and mentorship of Pastors Randy & Suzann Feldschau (former senior pastors atBrownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, FL). In the Summer of 2022, they we relaunched under the covering of their home church in to itinerant worship and teaching ministry. In 2022 David served as Chief Operating Officer of Worship Coach under the leadership of Rick Pino. In 2023 they have entered into a publishing and distribution agreement with Watershed Music Group as they continue to release new worship music that helps equip the Church. Additionally, David leads a weekly call with over 100 worship leaders, churches, Christian songwriters, and artists.Their mission is to awaken a fervent love for Jesus in the hearts of His people.Their passion is to write songs that were birthed in the Secret Place-to give language to God's people to draw them deeper in their walk with Him. Episode SummaryTechnology is everywhere in society these days from our communication, shopping, and commerce capabilities. Whether email, online purchases, or using the blockchain, it amounts to large amounts of data being collected about people. All of this data, while easy to store, is also harder to manage and protect. As users, people exhibit behaviors when using this data, and the technology is learning those behaviors to effectively identify if it's this person based on geography, time, and frequency. All of this, along with being able to help people properly secure their data, and when they make an error, they receive a small learning mission to complete to help understand the mistake without feeling inadequate or reprimanded. In this month's podcast, David Willis shares his experiences with technology, human behaviors, and micro-learning based on his years of military and technical expertise over the past twenty years.David Willis, Head of Technology Integrations for the Business Development TeamDavid is an experienced business, security, and technology leader with over 20 years experience across telecommunications, financial services, and software industry verticals.David currently serves as Head of Technology Integrations for the Business Development Team, focused on addressing tactical and strategic security and IT solution integration needs at scale for Netskope customers.
