Pastor Ivan Yoder Passage: John 11:43-47, 12:9-11
The good news of Jesus is that we cannot earn our salvation, but that He has won it for us on the cross. However, we can be so quick to add other requirements or behaviours onto what it takes to be saved.Join us as we go through Galatians 2 and rediscover the truth: that we are saved by grace alone, by faith alone, in Christ alone.Connect with usEvery Sunday at 9am, 11am and 6pmWebsite: https://www.citychurchcardiff.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/citychurchcardiff/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/citychurchcardiff
Stephen McGowan thinks the Rangers fans want change and Danny Rohl is not the man they believe can lead them to a title. Barry Anderson is tipping Hearts to win the title. Peter Martin believes Rangers and Celtic will flex their financial muscle in the summer to make sure Hearts don't threaten their dominance.
This week on Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes take on "Dead Man Walking", the powerful drama directed by Tim Robbins. Both Mike Butler and Mike Field really like this film, praising its thoughtful approach to the very difficult topic of the death penalty. Rather than forcing a clear stance, "Dead Man Walking" presents the death penalty in a balanced and human way, allowing the audience to wrestle with the moral questions alongside the characters. The film is elevated by strong direction, striking cinematography, and especially the performances from Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn. Both deliver deeply emotional and nuanced work that anchors the story and gives weight to every moment. With very little to criticize, "Dead Man Walking" stands as a compelling, well-crafted film that remains impactful and worth revisiting.

2. Guest: Anatol Lieven. Lieven analyzes UK politics, characterizing Prime Minister Keir Starmer as a "dead man walking" due to record low popularity and scandals involving Lord Mandelson. Regarding Ukraine, he suggests they are achieving a qualified victory by holding the line, though long-term survival is threatened by manpower and funding shortages. 21905 DELONGPRE MANSE
Keir Starmer is facing fresh questions over the Peter Mandelson vetting scandal after the explosive evidence from former senior civil servant Olly Robbins — and the pressure on No.10 is building. Julia Hartley-Brewer asks: is the Prime Minister a dead man walking? With claims of disquiet from inside Downing Street, accusations of “jobs for the boys”, and Labour figures openly turning on their own leader, this row is fast becoming a full-blown crisis for Starmer.Joined by former Conservative adviser Claire Pearsall and independent MP Karl Turner, Julia tears into the toxic culture at the heart of government, whether Starmer misled Parliament, and why Labour nerves are jangling after PMQs and before the local elections. If the drip-drip of revelations continues, can No.10 survive the summer — or is this the scandal that finally breaks him? Also: Julia reacts to the alarming poll showing half of young people would never fight for Britain, asking what it says about patriotism, identity and whether this country is still worth defending. There's also the growing fallout from the Iran crisis and disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, with warnings of higher fuel costs, rising energy bills, supply chain shocks and fresh pain for British households already squeezed by Rachel Reeves' faltering economy. And fury too over the tobacco and vapes bill, as MPs wave through a lifetime smoking ban for anyone born after 2008 — a common-sense health measure, or another open goal for smugglers, black-market gangs and the nanny state?Julia Hartley-Brewer broadcasts on Talk from Monday to Thursday, 10AM to 1PM.Available on YouTube and streaming platforms, along with DAB+ radio and your smart speaker. Starmer is a dead man walking and he knows it! #JonGauntTV #Starmer #PMQs #UKPolitics #CostOfLiving #FuelTax #IranCrisis #LeadershipCrisis #DeadManWalking #JonGaunt In a time of unprecedented domestic and global crisis, the British people are crying out for leadership and big ideas. But nearly two years into his premiership, it's clear Keir Starmer has neither. Today at PMQs, the mask didn't just slip—it fell off. Challenged by the Speaker to actually answer a question, Starmer showed he is a man with no plan beyond calling for another meeting and blaming the previous administration. The "manifesto of change" has become a manifesto of U-turns. He knows the clock is ticking, and the country knows it too. Keir Starmer is a dead man walking, and tonight, we're breaking down why his time is up. Tonight's Key Topics: The Iran Crisis & The Leadership Void: As tensions escalate in the Middle East, where is the British plan for Iran? We discuss why a "strategy of silence" and endless meetings are putting our national interests at risk. A Real Plan for the Cost of Living: While Starmer dithers, the solutions are obvious. Why won't he drop the rate of fuel tax to help working families? Why is he refusing to drop VAT for pubs and hospitality businesses that are the lifeblood of our communities? The PMQs Meltdown: Why even the Speaker of the House is losing patience with Starmer's refusal to answer for his own record. The Two-Year Verdict: Two years in, the "blame the Tories" excuse has finally expired. This is now Starmer's Britain—and the wheels are coming off. Don't just watch—get involved!

Send us Fan MailHe flushed the drugs, sat on the couch, and felt something he couldn't explain. Years later, he still wasn't “fixed” overnight and that's exactly why Jared's story matters. If you're worn out from addiction, relapse, shame, or the quiet fear that you've gone too far, we made this conversation for you.We talk with Jared about the long road from intravenous drug use, multiple felonies, and manufacturing meth to real sobriety and a new calling. He opens up about early warning signs, the first rehab experience that planted a seed, and a vivid encounter with God that changed his direction even when his behavior didn't immediately follow. We also get into the less glamorous parts of recovery: jail, rebuilding a marriage, facing work setbacks because of a criminal record, and realizing that “fixing the mind” wasn't enough if the heart stayed wounded. From there, Jared shares what he's doing now on the Mississippi Gulf Coast through Freedom Lighthouse in Waveland, Mississippi, a nonprofit sober and transitional-living program where men can come in for free and rebuild with structure, work, accountability, and faith-based support. He also describes how a church body formed in Bayside Community, one of the poorest areas in Hancock County, and how daily surrender keeps him grounded. The year is 1992, the film is Bob Roberts... a political mockumentary satire. The director, first-time filmmaker (and star) Tim Robbins. And it's also the first film role for a lovable gent named Jack Black. Patrick explores the real-life decisions Catholics face, such as switching from the Latin Rite to the Byzantine Rite, and the complexities of hidden weddings, family pressures, and honesty, while seamlessly shifting to lighter banter about Johnny Carson and the subtle dangers of cultural influences like song lyrics. A candid exchange on free will in heaven caps off an hour brimming with hard truths, compassion, and unexpected moments. Seth (email) - Is there any benefit to changing your rite from the Latin to the Byzantine? (01:02) Lori - I loved how Johnnie Carson didn’t get involved in politics. You remind me of him. (05:41) Jesse - How can I decline gracefully to not be in a sibling’s wedding? (07:30) Mike – Is it okay to listen to Sympathy for the Devil? Will we have free will in Heaven? (18:38) Dave - I disagree with your comment on being married in a Church and having a ceremony outside of the Church. I am not sure you understand how complicated these situations are. (29:24) Terri - In Mexico, they have the Church ceremony first and civil ceremony after. (42:16) Richard - I'd like to raise a point from Dead Man Walking movie. The character in the movie repents. If he got life in prison he may not have ever repented. (49:05) Originally aired on 07/09/25
In 1982, Sister Helen Prejean was invited to write a letter to a man on death row named Elmo Patrick Sonnier. She told us, “I thought that all I was going to be doing was writing letters. And lo and behold, two years later, I am in that execution chamber.” When we spoke to her in 2021, she was 81, and had been present at the executions of six men. Sister Helen's book, Dead Man Walking, is about her time as a spiritual advisor to Elmo Patrick Sonnier and Robert Lee Willie. This episode was originally released in 2021. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh— for if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
