We all know the Tim McGraw song, "Live Like You Were Dying," but this topic has been on our minds and hearts recently after losing some really incredible people in our lives, who we'll share a little about today. If you've ever wondered about how to really make life worthwhile, or the regrets of the dying, or how to not regret the little time you have on this earth, that's what we're going to talk about today. Time Stamps: [00:37] - What is it like to live a full life and look back on it fondly? [05:12] - How does life change when finding out your life will end soon? [10:33] - People remember the little things most because those were the big things that left a lasting memory. [15:51] - “Travel well the journey.” [21:44] - Corrine and Neil talk about making the most of life and not waiting for the “perfect time.” [26:24] - “We were born to die, and we die to live.” [31:08] - “Let it be.” [36:19] - Treat this life like the gift it is. In this episode Sascha and I talk about how panicked my body is about my mother's body dying. We talk about how to survive in a culture that doesn't have a plan for how to help our bodies integrate this kind of loss. We explore things that might help and what it will be like if nothing really helps. We talk about other bodies that have left us and also how they've stayed.
You've seen comedian and writer Adam Conover break down important topics on his hit TV shows "Adam Ruins Everything" and "The G Word With Adam Conover," but his intellectual expertise also extends to nostalgia. On this episode of the podcast, Adam tells us about the video games he played on his graphing calculator in school, his his indie rock/funny folk music band and why he hopes no one listening to this podcast will ever hear it. We also dive deep into the educational television series Square One Television, Vanessa and Jonah reminisce about Ben Affleck's memorable role in "Voyage of the Mimi" and we trace the career traject of the vocal group Rockapella from Carmen Sandiego's house band to Folgers instant coffee fame. Finally, we play a round of YESTOLGIA OR NOSTALGIA where we debate the merits of Cinnabon-flavored cereal, the return of Taco Bell's Enchirito and the rebooted Teletubbies. There is great interest in the final moments of a persons life. They give great insight into what was important to them. The last moments of Jesus on the cross help us to understand what mattered to Him. Immediately following hearing and answering the prayer of one of the thieves and baring the sins of all mankind, Jesus cried out to His Father. The final moments and prayer of our Lord are rich with application for our lives as His followers. I am beginning a fun project on TikTok where everyday I will read the choices for the next chapter in Try Not to Die: At Grandma's House and Derek will tell you how your terrible decision got you killed. I will be running these videos on TikTok where I'm just getting started. It would be amazing if you came over and connected with me. I'm at authormarktullius (1:30) I go over the new pricing strategy. All stand-alone ebooks are $3.99 and under, while Brightside and TNTD: At Grandma's House will remain at $0.99 for all of April. (3:30) I answer reader questions. April Stapleton asked: Why do you read at a first graders speed? If you could interview 1 person in history, whom would choose? Paul Young asked: If you were offered the movie or TV series rights, would you take them, Also as you write your works, do you envisage them ever being on the silver screen or several seasons on Netflix. I for one, would be hooked. (9:05) Consistency has been the key for working out, eating better, and writing. (12:15) I review Jailbroke, a novella by Brian Asman. (14:30) I narrate two scenes from Try Not to Die: At Grandma's House

While I was on my self-care break I begin to notice the word grief swirling around a lot. I guess I had gotten so used to hearing it that it became part of my everyday language. On my self-care break all of the random chatter got a lot quieter in my head and the important things became louder. Everyone one is grieving something or someone. This meditation is dedicated to those who are grieving lost loved ones. I hope this helps someone. Support the show

One of the phrases I hear very often in the military is "Words Matter". I think we can all agree that they definitely do matter and they also have the power to change the perspective of a situation....and sometimes the outcome too. In this podcast we explore a few words or phrases used when talking about people who are dying from illnesses or dying in general. I also talk about how we can turn those phrases or word around and put a more positive spin on death and dying. Support the show

POWER OF THE TONGUE – 2b – Romans 10:5-10 – Life Talk – Death Talk – The Right Talk For 2021! -- the conclusion of part 1!Directly from the word of God we continue to look at the power of the tongue! There are two different ways to talk; life or death. So what’s it going to be for you in 2021? We take a look at biblical examples of those who spoke death and died and at those who spoke life and lived; and not only did they live but they were saved, delivered, and blessed by the mighty hand of God. The best way to start the new year is glorifying God assembled with his saints. Get your Bible, listen, and be blessed…Please note : This service was recorded on New Year's Eve 2020 past midnight into the New Year 2021 and including communion was over three hours long! I decided to split the service into two and the first half is presented in this program; part 2a. The second half is part 2b. Don't miss one word what God has for you in 2021!

Practice and Reflection: Birth, Dependent Origination Bring your practice to charged mind states this week. First, ground and center by resting your attention on your breath and body sensations. Then, acknowledge the state of the mind, with as little judgment as possible. For example, “Oh, the mind is worrying.” Then, acknowledge the sense of self that is being created: “Oh, I am taking the shape of a worried person.” See if this gentle stepping back from the enmeshment of the mind-state creates some degree of spaciousness. This recording was edited and prepared for publication by volunteer John Stott.
Death is one of the two things parents hate to talk about with kids (guess what's the other one...)But Death is part of life, and just as you can't avoid it, you shouldn't avoid talking about it. In this episode, I discuss why it's so hard for us parents to talk about death with our children, and why we should get over our obstacles and talk with them about death.Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/my/profile)
