Ces restrictions sont imposées dès réception d'un signal de « menace drone » et sont techniquement temporaires. Wikipedia.ru a fait ce décompte : 69 coupures avaient déjà été enregistrées en mai, mais en juin, ce nombre était passé à 655, et en juillet, il a atteint le chiffre record de 2 099 coupures à travers le pays. Ce chiffre a dépassé le total mondial des blocages d'internet pour toute l'année 2024 (296 incidents dans 54 pays), faisant de la Russie le pays le plus touché par les pannes de communications numériques. « Notre pays est en état de guerre, [...] nous ne pouvons pas revendiquer les libertés que nous avions auparavant. » À quelques kilomètres de Moscou, la ville de Balachika est une zone connue pour abriter notamment une importante base de l'armée russe. Zina, 42 ans, m'accueille dans la cour en bas de son immeuble, dans cette ville où elle a déménagé il y a trois ans « pour la nature et la vue sur le canal ». Pour elle, toutes les mesures de restrictions prises pour internet sont justifiées, y compris cette autre, récente, qui bloque l'usage des cartes SIM, russes comme étrangères, pendant 24 heures à tout retour de l'étranger. « Je comprends très bien qu'une carte SIM pourrait soudainement ne plus être entre les mains de son propriétaire officiel. Elle pourrait être volée, avec le téléphone ou pas d'ailleurs. Et cette carte SIM pourrait être utilisée par d'autres personnes à leurs propres fins. Moi, je compare cette décision à la quarantaine temporaire obligatoire pendant le Covid-19 ou à l'usage des masques. On peut quand même trouver le moyen de s'organiser et préparer un retour de vacances. Je comprends que des gens soient très énervés, mais notre pays est en état de guerre, alors pour moi, c'est évident, nous ne pouvons pas revendiquer les libertés que nous avions auparavant », affirme-t-elle.  Pour elle, le vrai problème, qui la concerne de près, est ailleurs. « Je vais vous dire qui traverse, à cause de tout ça, de vraies difficultés, avance-t-elle. Ce sont ceux qui ne gagnaient leur vie que grâce au blogging, en vendant des publicités, par exemple, ou en monétisant leurs publications. C'est vrai, il existe des plateformes alternatives à celles qu'on avait avant, mais avec celles-là, on ne peut pas gagner autant d'argent. Elles sont mal conçues. Et cela a un impact sur toutes ces personnes, tous ces entrepreneurs, qui pendant de nombreuses années ont construit un système de diffusion en continu, produisaient du contenu. En fait, chaque blogueur avait en quelque sorte créé sa propre petite agence. C'est un système qui s'est effondré ».  Sans Instagram, classé extrémiste en Russie, et avec l'interdiction depuis cet automne d'y faire de la publicité, Internet qui rame est le dernier clou dans le cercueil de son activité professionnelle de bloggeuse-coiffure. Lama Zopa Rinpoche explains why Buddha manifested relics. He says that it was explained in the Golden Light Sutra that the Buddha showed a short lifespan to benefit sentient beings. The activity of passing away and leaving relics shows the skillful means of the Buddha. By prostrating, making offerings, and serving the relic, you are able to abandon the eight non-freedoms. You will also meet a virtuous friend, not give up bodhicitta, increase unimaginable merit, and quickly go beyond samsara. Also, each time you see Buddha's relic, it purifies one thousand eons of negative karma.Rinpoche says that one time he went to Chenrezig Institute and noticed that the atmosphere had changed. It had become very peaceful and calm. Then, he realized it was because of the new prayer wheel. This was one of the first prayer wheels in the FPMT organization. Rinpoche says that the prayer wheel inspiration came from Geshe Lama Konchog, who told him where he could find a text that refers to the incredible benefits of prayer wheels. Rinpoche read this text, put it on his head, and declared that he would spread this practice all over the world.Rinpoche talks about Geshe Lama Konchog, who left five-colored relics. He says that these relics are very unusual; they indicate someone who has attained Buddha's five wisdoms. Rinpoche praises the way Geshe Lama Konchog lived austerely and practiced Dharma.Rinpoche also discusses Zina's life story and the emergence of the FPMT organization. He talks about how they first met in Darjeeling and how she passed away while doing a long retreat in Nepal. Rinpoche says that he checked with two lamas, and both asserted that she had gone to a pure realm.From April 10 to May 10, 2004, Lama Zopa Rinpoche gave extensive teachings during the Mahamudra Retreat at Buddha House in Australia. While the retreat focused on Mahamudra, Rinpoche also taught on a wide range of Lamrim topics. This retreat marked the beginning of a series of month-long retreats in Australia. Zina Swanson is a Ōtautahi Christchurch-based artist working amongst an artistic practice of painting, drawing, sculpture and instalation. Her practice delves into the exploration of the both fluctuating and porous relationship between humans and the natural world—often looking into these uncanny plant-related lores that occupy a slight nod to a darker view of humanity's relationship with the natural world. Her current exhibition on at Sumer, Their Seeds Are Winged and Borne in Pairs continues and builds on Swanson's exploration of the natural world, navigating its rhythms and textures. Within this exhibition Swanson looks to the Sycamore plant, specifically their seeds. Producing an inquisitive new body of work that includes series of paintings, both acrylic on canvas and watercolour on paper, as well as human scale sculptures in clay and painted steel.  Inviting us to look a bit closer at the natural world around us, and ponder in its porous boundaries between humans. Al-Shukri received her BA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and attended the California College of the Arts, receiving her MFA in 2009.Zina Al-Shukri is an emerging artist whose exhibition history includes Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco, and Pulliam Deffenbach Gallery, Portland, Oregon.Zina's workMatthew Chase-DanielMatthew Chase-Daniel  was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1965 and lived in New York City in the 1960s. In the mid and late 1980s, Chase-Daniel studied at the Ojai Foundation in Ojai, California, at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York (B.A.), and in Paris, France, where he studied cultural anthropology, photography, and ethnographic film production (Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes & Sorbonne). Since 1989, he has lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, making family, and roaming the landscape to make his art. Wellman's paintings and drawings have been exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Holly Solomon Gallery in New York City, Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, The Downey Museum, and The Orange County Center of Contemporary Art in California, The El Paso Museum of Art, The Revolving Museum in Boston, and The Paseo Project in Taos, NM. His drawings were selected for a traveling show sponsored by the Smithsonian. His work with Axle Contemporary has been exhibited at SITE Santa Fe, 516 Arts in Albuquerque, The. Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock AZ, The Western Heritage Museum in Hobbs NM and the Roswell Art Center in Roswell NM. Awards of note include: Art Matters Foundation Grant, LINE Grant, Puffin Grant, and an NEA grant. Lama Zopa Rinpoche highlights the importance of reading the life stories of the Buddha and the lamrim lineage lamas. These stories show us how they practiced and how much hardship they endured, which inspires us to courageously bear hardships. When you're able to bear hardships, then there's no obstacle to continuously practicing Dharma.Rinpoche says that all the purification practices are encompassed within guru devotion. For example, when Milarepa was building the tower and being scolded by Marpa, this contained many hundred thousand prostrations. Each time Marpa scolded him, it purified so much negative karma.Rinpoche advises us to take a long-term view and plan to study the lamrim over many lifetimes. He cites His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who often tells Westerners not to expect realizations instantly.Rinpoche shares some past stories about Zina and the establishment of the Kopan courses and FPMT centres. He explains how he first received Kachen Yeshe Gyaltsen's lamrim text, The Great Commentary on Thought Transformation, from a Sherpa man who'd met the Lawudo Lama. Rinpoche brought the text with him when he went to Solu Khumbu to build the monastery there, and he based his first Kopan course on it. Thus, he says that all the Kopan courses and starting the centers basically came from the lamrim teachings of Kachen Yeshe Gyaltsen. Rinpoche adds that, of course, without Lama Yeshe nothing would have happened, even reading this teaching wouldn't have happened.Rinpoche explains how guru devotion and the good heart help each other. Guru devotion makes you practice the good heart, and the good heart then causes you to correctly devote to the virtuous friend to be able to benefit sentient beings.Rinpoche illustrates how to train the mind in guru devotion. He says that one buddha is all the gurus, and one guru is all the buddhas. The key for guru devotion is to understand how objects appear according to our karma. If the mind is not purified, you can't see the aspect of a buddha. Therefore, the only option is for buddhas to manifest in ordinary form.Rinpoche says that guru devotion is the most important subject in mahamudra because without the strong purification that comes from deep devotion that can receive the blessing of the guru, you can't realize emptiness. Rinpoche emphasizes that to realize emptiness, to realize mahamudra, you need so much merit.From April 10 to May 10, 2004, Lama Zopa Rinpoche gave extensive teachings during the Mahamudra Retreat at Buddha House in Australia. While the retreat focused on Mahamudra, Rinpoche also taught on a wide range of Lamrim topics. This retreat marked the beginning of a series of month-long retreats in Australia.
