This week, we are delighted to bring you one of the most hilarious and insightful episodes of the series to date. Ireland and Munster Rugby legends Donncha O'Callaghan and Peter Stringer joined Jarlath on stage for a special interview in front of a sold out Sugar Club at the Dublin Podcast Festival.Donncha and Peter open up about the post-tournament analysis that was devastatingly brutal (28:00) while also giving a fascinating discussion on the evolution of rugby training (23:00), the truth behind 'Pants-Gate' (47:00) and why Paul Kimmage isn't wrong about his thoughts on doping in rugby (53:00).From Donncha's side-splitting story about how he almost instinctively tackled a runner while out walking with his family (8:00) to the level of scrutiny that modern players are under (44:00) and who was responsible for the two lads being left circling a Cork roundabout (12:00) and much more, this is a rip-roaring and unforgettable conversation with two Irish rugby legends. To hear the lads' honest thoughts on ROG's potential as future Ireland head coach, how they treated their bodies as their 'business' and much more, become a patron of An Irishman Abroad on patreon.com/irishmanabroad. Last year Caroline Crampton (of Shedunnit (https://shedunnitshow.com) ) and I teamed up to create a joint live show, called Words Dunnit: a 200-year history of detective fiction in an hour. We performed the show live at the Dublin Podcast Festival (https://dublinpodcastfestival.ie/) in November 2019, and then again at Pod UK (https://www.rocksaltevents.com/poduk2020) , in Birmingham, in Feb of this year. We had a lot of fun making and performing it, so here it is in full. Recorded at the #whereismymind live podcast for the Dublin Podcast Festival in the Sugar Club on November 18th. Michael Harding is a man whose writings, work and words have inspired me to understand the true comprehension of emotional transparency, intelligence, literacy and transparency. That vulnerability is an opportunity for growth, yet at the same time recognising the inevitability of pain in the midst of the complexity of the human condition. Perhaps one of his his greatest influences on my life has been witnessing his desire and ability to see beauty and hope in the simplest of things during the hardest of moments. If we had the scientific capacity to clone Stephen Fry, NIall Tobin and Larry David I am pretty sure we would get someone like Michael hardingThanks for listening in guysPlease stay subscribed for season 2 of #whereismymind. We are busy production the second series and I really think you are all going to love it.We will also have some deadly live podcast events next year which I can’t wait for.Stay tuned on www.niallbreslin.com or across socials See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

What makes the DUP tick? The big beast of unionism has played an outside role in politics across Ireland and the UK over the past few years, yet understanding of the party south of the border or on the other side of the Irish sea is often lacking. To find out a bit more about the party and its view of the world, Hugh and Pat were joined by Sam McBride live on stage at the Dublin Podcast Festival last week. Sam is political editor with the Belfast Newsletter and author of Burned, a book about the "cash for ash" scandal that has plighted the party.

Live from Dublin, the Irish Passport brings you the hidden history of the Irish capital with Naomi O'Leary and Tim Mc Inerney. Comedian and author Tara Flynn discusses her favourite Dublin secrets. Tonie Walsh describes gay life in the city before the decriminalisation of homosexuality, and the furious anger at violence against gay people that fuelled the earliest Pride marches. Terry Fagan of the North Inner City Folklore Project recounts some of his favourite Dublin tales and takes us inside the lost red light district of The Monto. This live show was held at the Button Factory as part of the Dublin Podcast Festival. It was a double bill with our friends over at the Motherfoclóir podcast. You can hear their show and our crossover Q&A session here. Many thanks to Headstuff, to the brilliant Button Factory production team, and to Darach, Peadar, Gearóidín and Éimear. It’s Dublin Podcast Festival time again! This year the Motherfoclóir gang appeared as part of a double bill with The Irish Passport at The Button Factory on November 17th. This episode is the live recording of that show, edited for brevity and clarity. In a world where so many TV and movie franchises have grinded to a halt or are on hiatus, Darach wanted to alert Hollywood to the fact that Irish history, literature and mythology has a wealth of untapped source material for them to consider for the Next Big Thing. In this episode, he talks to Peadar, Gearóidín and Éimear about the blockbuster potential of An Táin (served two ways), Georgian Dublin and the race against time that was the drafting of the constitution. The common link between all these stories appears to be a bunch of ‘rock lads absolutely sending it on their holiday in Thailand. A new epic poem, perhaps? The Motherfoclóir gang are joined by Tim McInerney and Naomi O’Leary from The Irish Passport for the Q & A at the end of this episode. --- Get Kirsten Shiel art prints here: https://www.inprnt.com/gallery/kirstenshiel/ Support for this episode comes from Foras na Gaeilge -https://www.forasnagaeilge.ie/ --- Contact the show: twitter - @motherfocloir and @theirishfor email - motherfocloir@headstuff.org
Has the media lost our trust? If so, what can it do to regain it? More importantly, should we ever actually fully trust our media? On the night of the pivotal Ireland-Denmark Euro 2020 qualifier down the road in the Aviva Stadium, a quartet of the good and the great of Irish media gathered in Whelan's on Dublin's Wexford St as part of the Dublin Podcast Festival to discuss and debate with Off Message's Pat O'Mahony perhaps the most important issue of a business they would all see as vital to the well-being of society yet one which has long been in a state of turmoil, explaining why trust in the Fourth Estate is currently at an all time low, exploring the very real impacts this lack of trust in our media is having on everything from politics to climate change to vaccinations uptake, suggesting ways in which that trust might be restored, and arguing the toss about whether we should even trust the mainstream media in the first place. The panel: - Mark Little, CEO and co-founder of Kinzen, formerly managing director of Twitter in Ireland, CEO and founder of Storyful and RTÉ Prime Time co-presenter - Jane Suiter, Director of the Institute for Future Media and Journalism (FuJo) and Associate Professor at the School of Communications, DCU, formerly Economics Editor at the Irish Times - Gillian Fitzpatrick, Chief Commercial Officer at Maximum Media (home of JOE, her, Sports JOE and Her Family), formerly Features Editor at the Irish Daily Mail - Gavan Reilly, Political correspondent with Virgin Media News, host of On The Record on Newstalk FM and columnist with the Meath Chronicle, formerly political correspondent at Newstalk and Today FM and journalist at TheJournal.ie

People are supposed to thinking about who they're going to shift at the office Christmas party! "We choose to make this podcast, not because it is easy, but because it is gas craic" Space is back in vogue! With the 50th anniversary of the moon landing during the summer, everyone has been turning their gazes back towards the sky. So Steve and Richie have to decided to get their heads out of the gutters of terrestrial politics and will ask the big questions around space exploration. Will we get to Mars? Will there be a city on the Moon? Will an army of Mark Zuckerberg clones colonise Saturn? To help them answer all this, they have reached out to Brendan Byrne (https://twitter.com/spacebrendan?lang=en) , a Space Reporter and host of the podcast Are We There Yet? We were back at The Fumbally Cafe once again for this very special edition of the podcast, as With Relish makes its second appearance at The Dublin Podcast Festival & Eat:ith, The Fumbally’s autumn series of events. This years theme was; From The Sublime To The Ridiculous, and Aoife and Harry tasked their guests, who were each representing one of Ireland’s 4 provinces, to speak about what makes their food region so unique, brilliant and slightly bizarre at times. The star studded lineup featured some of Ireland’s most passionate and influential culinary figures of recent years, and was by far our biggest podcasting highlight so far. A huge thank you has to go to all of our guests for joining us on the evening, our wonderful sold-out audience for their participation, Ash, Luca and everyone at The Fumbally Cafe for their amazing hospitality and Alan the Headstuff.org Editor who got us out of some very scary tech difficulties which nearly ruined the night. The Line Up: Cliodhna Prendergast who is represented Connacht, is a professional chef and food writer-photographer for the Sunday Times. Currently living in Connemara, she is one half of Lens and Larder; Photography and food styling workshops telling visual food stories with International photographers in extraordinary Irish Country Houses. Raymond McArdle is the owner of The Forge restaurant in Co Meath, and has long established himself as one Ulsters leading chefs. Having grown up on the Co Down coast, McAardle has worked in some of the countries top kitchens such as Roscoff and Deanes, as well as earning 3 AA Rosettes when working as Head Chef at the Nuremore Hotel from 2001 to 2011. Raymond's passion for Ulster’s food identity has stuck with him throughout his career, helping establish himself as one of the regions greatest culinary personalities of the past two decades. Munster’s representative is Sinead Ní Ghairbhit, owner of the Cheese Press in Ennistymon, the only shop in the world that only sells Irish cheese. Before opening The Cheese Press, she produced St Tola goats cheese with her sister, Siobhán. Sinéad is passionate about delicious, quality ingredients and providing a welcoming public space where people can connect over coffee and food. Joe Macken’s collection of fast casual restaurants have been changing the landscape of how we eat since 2007, with the birth of the original JoBurger . Suzanne and PJ take the Liberty Hall Theatre stage in style as they plough through all sorts of topics including animal facts, slipping in the shower and farting in water, men being sick vs women being sick, sports, notions, begrudgery, doctors, taxi men, and much more. Enjoy!
"We can't end a comedy podcast with 'And then he died'" This week of Up To 90 is a very special episode, as we come to you live and uncensored from Liberty Hall in our Dublin Podcast Festival double-header aver the wonderful 'Dubland'. With musical intros from Fred Cooke, we invited our panel of hilarious guests in to talk everything nineties - from ninja turtles to Riverdance to all things foreign-currency, this episode took many expected twists and turns, punctuated by some serious dance moves and sing-along moments. Just why does Tralee Mc Donald's have a sign specifying only cars may avail of drive-thru service? Ronan Grace explains the notice that has baffled thousands of Happy Mealers for decades. What had the Rvierdancer troops dropping like flies immediately prior to their showstopping Eurovision performance? Pauline Shanahan fills us in. And Owen Colgan of 'Hardy Bucks' fame tells us why children of Roscommon really emphasised with mutant reptiles living in sewers. This episode is special. Very special. In fact, it could easily be the most special podcast episode ever recorded. Prepare to hear Liberty Hall get floored by our journalistic bravery, and the whopper amount of facts and figures that cement our status as the most highly researched media venture ever embarked upon. By the most dedicated researchers. Perhaps the most dedicated of all time..... *Please note this episode contains no research and no actual bravery. If you're either Jean Butler or a talking turtle please get in touch with us exclusively on Twitter and Insta @Upto90Podcast. Also we are absolutely dying to hear the mad places you've bought towels (just listen to it and you will TOTALLY get that top-shelf joke)

Cormac joined illustator, author and comedian Aoife Dooley, fitness expert and author John O'Connell and Andrew Murray director of Social Media and Content at TBWA. The call out culture, the scams, the health and fitness dangers and more were all discussed in front of a live audience in the Sound House in Dublin.

We kicked out the jams at The Soundhouse as part of the Dublin Podcast Festival with our fourth live show. Since it was our second time at the DPF we decided to go twice as big and have two guests. Niamh Farrell of Ham Sandwich told us all about her childhood love of Take That and Mark Owen and then Nadine O'Regan of the Sunday Business Post told us about being a teenage grunge fan in West Cork. We had lots of fun and we can't thank Nadine and Niamh enough for being fabulous guests. You can find Nadine O'Regan on twitter @nadineoregan and her podcast My Roots Are Showing is on Soundcloud. A special live episode with Dublin-based poet and playwright Stephen James Smith, recorded at the Dublin Podcast Festival.
Come to Dubland live as part of Dublin Podcast Festival on Friday 12th of October! PJ wants to go to the sun for a week but doesn't want to see a child or a couple. There's a nice message from sad animal facts. There's too much Branston Pickle now. There's stuff about unfunny new age 'cerebral' comedians and jaded old comedians who don't care and are funny. PJ is now a licensed power boat operator but at the same time he had to get rescued from a pub toilet by the RNLI. There are Dubland T-shirts now! Go and buy one or four of them!

Politically motivated stabbings, vigilante justice, car wash money laundering. These are not plot points for an upcoming Netflix drama, these are actual things that are happening in Brazil today. Trisha Lewis' story is one to inspire and this week I speak to the Cork woman about her weight loss, her health journey and ultimately taking responsibility for her life and her actions. 'I was so sick of trying everything and failing. I was 26 stone and knew if I failed this time there was nowhere else to go for me,' she says. 'I don't look to the future, if I get through today without failing that's a success. If you have weight, be honest with yourself and take ownership of it.' Trisha has now lost six stone since February and hers is a story of honesty, inspiration and bravery. And the best part of it all? 'Happiness and being confident walking down the street once again,' she says. You can follow her incredible story on Instagram @trishas.transformation and for more from the Real Health podcast go to www.independent.ie/podcasts/the-real-health-podcast/ The Real Health podcast is in association with Laya Healthcare. **See the Real Health podcast live at the Dublin Podcast Festival and kickstart your real health lifestyle with physical, mental and energy experts, Annie Kirwan, Neil O'Brien and Deirdre McSwiney. Dubland will be doing a live podcast as part of Dublin Podcast Festival on Friday 12th of October! There is a hell of a lot of singing because PJ is excited about Halloween and he's annoyed that Christmas is already, ALREADY, getting in the way of it. Suzanne and PJ also talk about young doctors, and the one thing PJ hates more than Christmas - beards! Suzanne talks about the British funeral ritual of Death Limbo. PJ officially writes his will in this episode, so this is the one that you should come back to if he dies young and tragically. They also talk about the Pope and how nobody really cared about him and his Skodas. Also Dublin won the All Ireland, if you haven't heard. There are Dubland T-shirts now! Go and buy one or four of them! Anyway, enjoy! Join the HeadStuff Podcast Network group on Facebook. Follow Dubland on Twitter or Instagram.

On this week' episode, we talk with Victoria Mary Clarke, a media and life coach who has had more jobs and incarnations than most. Victoria was born plain Victoria Clarke (the Mary was added for effect) in Dublin, Ireland. She learned to read Cornflake boxes at the age of two, and began work on her first autobiography ‘All About Me’ at the age of six.
Is the vegan lifestyle for you? It’s not just about food but about how you are living your life and how it’s impacting animals in the process. For journalist and blogger, Holly White, she became vegan four years ago and hasn't looked back since. Holly joins me on this week's podcast to discuss the vegan lifestyle and to give some practical tips and recipe advice for those interested in becoming vegan. For Holly it means a diet with no eggs, no meat, no dairy, but she says, the vegan diet doesn't have to be one of extremes or difficult to embrace. Even if you're not committed to becoming a vegan, Holly definitely has some great recipes and healthy eating advice that we can all take on-board, including using ingredients such as lentils or tofu in ways that we hadn't considered before. 'Lentils contain more protein than beef,' she points out and says everyone should try a vegan shepherd's pie made with lentils. For more from Holly, check out HollyWhite.ie and her new book, 'Vegan-ish', is out now. Jenna Stoeber, video producer at Polygon and co-host of Fandalites, joined Alan and guest co-host Caroline O'Donoghue to talk about the classic anime series Sailor Moon. Now, Sailor Moon had a very limited run on our side of the Atlantic so we're very grateful to Jenna for being patient with us and answering our questions and guiding us through the beautiful, complicated world of the Pretty Guardian Sailors. We talked about representation and merch and Barenaked Ladies and all kinds of topics. Plus, Jenna told Caroline and Alan which Sailors they were. It was a good time. Note: This episode was recorded before the final episode of Adventure Time aired. Jenna talks about Princess Bubblegum and Marceline's relationship being kept offscreen. This obviously isn't true as of the finale but Jenna's larger point remains so we've decided to leave it in. Jenna Stoeber is @thejenna on twitter. Find her video work on Polygon.com and her Animorphs podcast is called Fandalites. Alan is @alan_maguire and Caroline is @czaroline. Caroline's novel Promising Young Women is both available now and excellent. Juvenalia is on all of the social medias, if you search for Juvenalia, you'll find us.
