Part 2: How U.S. Taxpayers Bailed Out the Poultry Industry, and Helped Entrench Avian Flu By sheltering producers from risk, researchers have observed that indemnity payouts can, under some circumstances, inadvertently encourage lapses in biosecurity, enabling the spread of disease. And this can potentially create a system where farms are too indemnified to fail — the risks of operating a business highly susceptible to disease are absorbed by the government. . How many people went vegan during Veganuary? Enough to fill up the largest sports arena hundreds of times. We do so through science, law and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters and climate that species need to survive. Why is the Center for Biological Diversity focusing on reducing meat consumption? When it comes to the causes of environmental destruction and overconsumption of resources, the meat industry is at the top of the list. Meat production uses massive amounts of water and land, and leaves behind devastating amounts of pollution and greenhouse gases. "We all have our own inner doctor"This week I welcome, Sherry Shaban, an extraordinary fitness and life coach who's battled back from the brink of paralysis to transform not only her body but her entire outlook on life. With over 23 years of experience in the fitness industry, Sherry is a renowned expert in the most challenging weight loss cases and has helped thousands of people worldwide transform their health and fitness using her revolutionary method to rewire the brain, release self-sabotaging limiting beliefs, and patterns, and fall in love with fitness so that weight loss becomes easy, predictable, and enjoyable. For the first few years of being a gym owner, Sherry felt like a phony. She was frustrated with herself, disappointed and angry for being a “victim” of her circumstances, unable to demonstrate a single squat. But her turning point toward recovery came from understanding that one of the central elements of transformation is to let go of debilitating and self-limiting thoughts, and to begin to rewrite a new story. If you're surprised and frustrated by high prices at the grocery store, you are not alone. National data shows that grocery shopping and dining out are more expensive than ever. The latest data from the Agriculture Department shows consumers spent 11.3% of their disposable income on food in 2022. This means that Americans are currently spending more on food than they have in over 30 years. I'm certainly seeing this in my own life. I've just returned from a trip to Tulum, and don't worry, I'll be sharing more about that journey on my podcast soon. Tacos that used to be $5 are now $15; a veggie burger that used to be $8 is now $18. But what can we do about this? Well, personally, I feel it's my mission to make sure that no matter the cost of food, we all still feel empowered and inspired to make healthy choices and to not let this inflation deter us from our health goals. So today, I have rounded up the best experts on saving money while eating well. First up is Kathy Davis, the CEO of VegInspired. She'll be discussing how to eat healthy on a budget, her personal experience losing 30 pounds when she went plant-based, tips on food prep, and advice on when to buy in bulk. Then we've got Food Heals regular and Vegan Chef to the stars, Leslie Durso, here to talk about how to cook plant-based on a budget for yourself, eat seasonally to save money, and the secret ingredient that saves you money and enhances the flavors of your food. Next up is Founder of Vegan Dinner Club, formerly known as Batch Cooking Club, Stephanie Dreyer, who helps busy parents bring more ease to their meal prep and meal times. She's here to discuss Meal Planning, family recipes, batch cooking, plus her favorite healthy swaps. Next, we'll be speaking with Toni Okamoto, author of Plant-Based on a Budget: Delicious Vegan Recipes for Under $30 a Week. She'll be sharing insights on saving time and money in the kitchen, meal planning, buying in bulk, growing your own food, and more. And finally, we've got Whitney Lauritsen sharing the best apps, websites, and resources to thrive on a vegan diet.

Dr. Joel Kahn is a cardiologist, integrative medicine practitioner and promoter of plant-based nutrition. Having practiced traditional cardiology since 1983, it was only after his own commitment to a plant based vegan diet that he truly began to delve into the realm of non-traditional diagnostic tools, prevention tactics and nutrition-based recovery protocols. These ideologies led him to change his approach and focus on being a holistic cardiologist. https://www.drjoelkahn.com/ GET THE MEAT NosetoTail.org Preorder the film here: http://indiegogo.com/projects/food-lies-post SHOW NOTES (16:52) According to Dr. Khan, if you suffer from heart disease, consider a plant-based diet based on science.
