God tells you and I at this time to put HIM between yourself and the enemies!     By Mary Lindow  - Through The Holy Spirit   The Father in heaven has an exclusive responsibility towards His people and He cries out to them through the Holy Spirit,  that just as he moved on behalf of Asa and his men when surrounded by a vast army and 300 chariots, so will He move again on behalf of those who are obedient to His voice and commands.   He tells you and I at this time to put HIM between yourself and the enemy.   When Asa realized his lack of strength, THEN he saw Jehovah God crush the Cushites. They were “Crushed before the Lord and their foes.” -2 Chronicles 14:13   Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said, "LORD, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; so help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name have come against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; let not man prevail against You! " -2 Chronicles 14:11     THE “BUGLE” TO BE “FRUGAL”  There will be several “invented” crisis settings in the next months that will cause many to choose to hoard and stockpile for themselves. They will be quickly exposed as moneymaking schemes and a tool to inflate prices. On the other side of this there will be those who have very little with which to live and eat due to job losses and cutbacks. Those around them, if not filled with the fruits of Grace and Mercy, will become indifferent to the cry of their needs, for there will be many.    “Share your food with the hungry and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.” -Isaiah 58:7    The Lord would have me share that He is indeed watching to see if the heart of the Apostolic move of God can again be modeled as when the people brought what they had to trusted and integral teams of leaders, (Like In the Book Of Acts, it was Peter) who then distributed with prayer and wisdom to all, and none had any lack. We are at a time where the Body of Christ must share resources willingly, and fairly and we are not to justify personal restraints that we think should apply to others, but not to ourselves. The hoarding of resources is a clear indicator of greed.   HERE IS A SCRIPTURAL MEASURING STICK OR PLUMBLINE TO USE TO OBSERVE THE TRUE APOSTOLIC HEART AND LEADER.    They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor.  Psalm 112:9   Before I move into Delivering  the Prophetic Words and Insights that the Lord has impressed me with for the  United Kingdom - Ireland – France Germany and  Canada I would like to share the brief but potent following thoughts and soul stirring words came from Reverend Linda Brown in Perth, Australia while she was   partaking in a Kingdom Community Zoom Session. They resonate with truth and prophetic depth.   “Revelation or Decimation?” Will we operate from The Spirit of Revelation in the coming days to ensure the Kingdom of God is able to operate fully as God intends in the years that lie ahead? Or will we see the church grow weaker because of our lack of foresight and action? This is a challenge for us all as Apostolic/Prophetic people.   Meaning of decimation :  -a drastic reduction in the strength or effectiveness of something." I honor those insights and believe they are words for the Holy Spirit to leaders at this time.   PROPHETIC WORDS FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM - IRELAND – FRANCE – GERMANY – CANADA   “Then I was told, You are to make a fresh prophecy concerning many peoples and races and nations, And languages and kings.” -Revelation 10:11   The United Kingdom:  There will be a ROAR of Prayer heard from desperate hearts in the UK. Prayer will be a way of life in many small Hamlets and Villages, and many homes will become chapels of healing and miracles. The prostitution red light districts in Central London will have an epic move of God as He sends in intercessors in tandem with relevant and fiery Revivalists who will have such a strong presence of God, with the Power of Holy Spirit bringing conviction, that even the hardest atheist observing it all will be made to run away in terror at the potent power of God falling upon the filth of prostitution.   “And I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten--the hopping locust, the stripping locust, and the crawling locust, my great army, which I sent among you.- Joel 2:25    Houses of hope and care will spring up in smaller surrounding areas, where these whom have once been bound will be cared for and restored.    BRETHREN, IF any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on yourself, lest you should be tempted also. - Galatians 6:1    Ireland:  There are many hidden and faithful leaders who have weathered political and spiritual storms for decades who are now well prepared and ready for the Father's divine plan for their lives. Ireland will begin to export teams of Apostolic and Prophetic missionaries into the USA and Europe. These people will have a razor-sharp ability to cast out religious spirits hindering moves of God. They will bring with them the fresh songs of praise and worship now ready for the hungry ears of the true worshiper.  The “cynical” Irishman will now become the grand believer declaring – “With God all things are possible”! There will be a spotlight on Ireland with new technologies being developed and mined there. With it, doors will open for many to travel to Ireland and find Fathering and Mothering Mentors ready to restore, train, and release.    France and Germany:  The Father calls France, “A nation now in chaos”.  But, as an underground stream flows swiftly and quietly, so do those who have determined to pray and intercede with heart wrenching pleas for the Father to move within their land. A spiritual passivity will begin to be addressed and shaken off of the hearts of fearful and hidden believers in France and Germany. There will begin to be a few strong and ethical governmental leaders rise up who will begin to risk addressing the rapidly encroaching militant attacks against the people of France and its outlying regions. There will be community of vigils of prayer in local churches and the repenting of passiveness and elitist thinking.    German and French Believers will begin to view one another in a Kingdom perspective and join in prayer and service to one another, creating a groundswell of food pantries with farmers and dairies that will create CO-OPs.    The key to breaking the spiritual stagnation in France says the Lord, will be the humbling of hearts before the Throne of God and reaching out beyond its own borders.    “For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and harmony). He has made us both] one body), and has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall between us. - Ephesians 2: 14   Germany: Germany will have a large revolt and uprising from among the youth as the economy continues to stress and bend. Looting and stealing and selling of automobiles will become a raging epidemic.  For when the world with all its earthly wisdom failed to perceive and recognize and know God by means of its own philosophy, God in His wisdom was pleased through the foolishness of preaching [salvation, brought on by Christ and to be had through Him], to save those who believed (who clung to and trusted in and relied on Him). -1 Corinthians 1:21  Simultaneously, Young street evangelists who have been well trained as well as educated will be commissioned to reach out to those rioting and manifesting. Government leaders will not know what to do with the uproar, and sanctions against open religious expressions will be put in place. Nevertheless, young Paul's and Silas's will not fear what man can do to them and will continue to flow in the power of Evangelism, seeing the hand of God spare the lives of many.    “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach and cry out to it the preaching that I tell you.” -Jonah 3:2   The Lord is going to give Words of Wisdom and Words of Knowledge and messages to the young men and women of God who are going to rise up and speak in Germany! They will be full of the Power of the Holy Spirit, and they will cause the wave of the move of God to move across many villages and there will be an uprising of broken hearts, crying out for help, and there will be literal street revivals and manifestations of the Holy Spirit. It will NOT be stopped!     CANADA:  Canada will experience one of its most prosperous seasons ever known, for a short season. The Lord would have Canada know that they must deal fairly with the wealth that they will produce and pay back the First Native families, and with Godly equity. If this is not addressed with wisdom and integrity, Canada will have to pass through the sorrows of disobedience. Canadian Intercessors are being awakened and called up to stand in the place of prayer for its leaders and tribes. Now is the time for soberness, It is not the time for silliness and laughter.  It is a sober day, with a command for sober prayers.  "Accordingly then, let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us keep wide awake (alert, watchful, cautious, and on our guard) and let us be sober (calm, collected, and circumspect)". - 1 Thessalonians 5:6  “So Get up! Stand UP! Be Purposeful,” says the Lord! How do you not know that through your borders I can bring a North American Wave of Justice and Restoration?”  “So brace up your minds; be sober (morally alert), set your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace (with is the Divine favor) that is coming to you when Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is revealed. -1 Peter 1:13    IN CLOSING, I BLESS YOU AS YOU HAVE LISTENED OR HAVE READ THESE PROPHETIC INSIGHTS IN THE NAME OF JESUS.   May His word be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path!   “Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don't worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you, and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus,  Worship only God." -2 Peter 1:21    “For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus ”  -Revelation 19:10   I want you to know that we are not to be elevating, or exalting men or women of God because of the revelation or the edification that they are giving to the Body of Christ right now. YES! We do listen to voices that the Lord puts among us, but we do not worship them, nor do we make them our direct contact for hearing things from the Lord on our own.   I ENCOURAGE YOU GET INTO A QUIET PLACE, ALONE WITH THE LORD  AND JUST BE STILL! France are pretty much favourites and they're so relaxed, Antoine Griezmann is attempting to sign Kylian Mbappé for his Newcastle United sign on Football Manager! Germany will be hoping their lucky scratch 'n' sniff cards their manager, Joachim Löw bought before the tournament will make up for their dodgy defence. There's not much to say about holders Portugal. Other than the fact that they beat England in 2004 thanks to a cheeky wink from Christiano Ronaldo. Great research, Danny! And then to Hungary. The AstraZeneca- Oxford university COVID-19 vaccine has been paused by a number of countries in Europe after reports of blood clotting and Deep Vein Thrombosis in some participants arose. Countries including France Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Norway have put a halt on the rollout of the innoculation programme for now and are examining the cases that have occurred.   While they carry out assessments, the World Health Organisation as well as the European Union's vaccine regulator have played down the issue for now. They have highlighted two important points. One, there is no indication that the vaccine is linked to an increased risk of blood clots. Two, the number of cases in vaccinated people was no higher than in the general population.  In India, the Serum Institute of India is manufacturing the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine as Covishield and 1.5 crore doses have already been administered.   At a time when COVID-19 cases have seen a spike across India and Europe and the vaccination process is underway, a number of key questions have emerged. Why has this become an issue in the EU? Should India, which manufactures the same vaccine, be worried?   The Quint spoke with Dr Rahul Bhargava, Director and Head, Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram

While giving him the old what-for, we also discuss Matt's obsession with Game of Thrones, Kelyn's unfortunate opinions on Pixar films, thoughts on a soccer-specific stadium in Boston, whether Robert Kraft knows them from Adam (or Sam) and we finally get to the bottom of Kelyn's LOVE for leathery wines. Thom Singer invites Jenny de St Georges to episode 529 of "Cool Things Entrepreneurs Do" to talk about building a business.  Jenny has an impacting story of how she started her speaking business talking specifically to dentists.  Her success over the decades has been unparalleled in the world of speaking and training.  She gives advice that come from doing.  She has lived the entrepreneur life. She wants people to have faith in themselves but to not get paralyzed by being a perfectionist. Perfection can sabotage growth. Jenny has been a perfectionist, but has learned that sometimes you have to just ship the product or you will never be done.    Jenny de St Georges has a special service helping entrepreneurs think out of the box and find ways to be more creative with title and naming. Too often people are too blah in their titles and creative descriptions.  She thinks people need to use their brains more than just relying on tech tools.    "Common sense and logic never go out of style", says Jenny.  It is so evident in today's business world that common sense is not as common as we think. People shy away from having an opinion.  Even business coaches do not push people, but she does.     About Jenny de St Georges     Jennifer de St Georges delivers her content driven, solution based Program designed for both professional and emerging speakers in her trademark fast paced and humorous style. Her common sense & logical approach to sharing over four decades of speaking career has won her a loyal global following.   Like many of us, Jenny started her speaking company out of her house. Incensed re the poor quality of seminar she attended in her field of expertise (dental practice management) she requested a full refund.  Her professional speaking career started 16 weeks later!   Jenny created a dental practice management program and for the next ten years ran her own public full day seminars across the county.  In time,  she grew JdSG International Inc. to 7 full time corporate staff and a team of 8 consultants and a teaching facility. She became a ‘big fish’ in the small pond of dentistry! Some years later, Jenny sold her dental speaking & product company to a global dental corporation.    A member of NSA since the mid ‘80’s she is an active member of the Northern California (NC) Chapter, where she has served on the Board, been awarded Member of the Year and actively involved in the Speaker Academy since its inception. Jenny has presented at several NSA annual conventions and various State Chapters. Globally, she is very active in the Professional Speakers Association of UK (PSA/UK) and is an honorary Fellow of the association.  Jenny has also presented for the   speaking associations Eire, UK, France & Germany   Between her two speaking markets of dentistry and the National Speakers Association, Jenny has presented over 1,000  programs on five continents.  She has over 350 published dental business articles. For most of her speaking career, her dental product line outpaced her dental speaking income.   https://thomsinger.com/podcast/jenny-de-st-georges

Show Notes GND Stuff Hugh Read Not going to repeat their bullet points but the New Economics Foundation and DiEM25 (among others) is the best point by point plan around (though the site misses some details). https://www.gndforeurope.com/10-pillars-of-the-green-new-deal-for-europe The general point is you could do a successor to the Junker plan (European Fund for Strategic Investments) but make it both better and geared specifically towards Green investment via Bonds backed by the ECB and bond markets. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/05/this-is-what-a-green-new-deal-for-europe-could-look-like/ Ireland's dealy is okay looking but wreaks of the long term planning with little short term change https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jun/17/ireland-to-unveil-bold-plan-to-tackle-climate-emergency Sinn Fein is grumpy because they've suggested a lot of it before Our old pal, former UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, wrote a relatively long piece in Prospect magazine (hmm). It's a pretty good read and makes some relevant general points: Short term you need plans too. You're not going to be in government forever so making plans for 2050 is great but if you don't have short term plans that get you ahead of the overall goal you're not going to make it But looking back, it’s hard not to regret that we weren’t more imaginative. Some of our actions then—such as the car scrappage scheme—now rank as missed opportunities. Yes, the new cars being subsidised were lower in emissions than the old bangers they replaced, but how much better placed might the UK car industry be today if all the resources had gone into getting ahead of curve on battery-powered cars and infrastructure? This idea has been around for quite some time and hasn't come to enough The phrase “Green New Deal” is a shorthand for the approach we need: tackling climate change through a great civil mobilisation of people into purposeful work. It was coined in Britain, under the auspices of the New Economic Foundation a decade ago, although the time didn’t prove right. The need to argue for a clear plan and keep pushing for it We can agree that children need an education, but each party has its own ideas on how it is best done, and the contest between them is healthy. If the climate needs a similar contest of plans, we shouldn’t shrink from that. Especially on the details, "Net zero carbon" means different things to different people There is a reason why Britain’s carbon emissions are so low: we’ve outsourced them. Steel made here in the UK counts towards our emissions. But steel made in China, shipped to the UK, used by a UK manufacturer and then sold to a UK consumer counts towards China’s emissions—and not ours. Quoting Dieter Helm professor of energy policy at Oxford: "If you really want to reduce global warming… it doesn’t matter where emissions take place, and therefore the only way to judge it is with carbon consumption." https://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/features/ed-miliband-climate-change-economy-save-planet#widget_user GND Stuff Ciarán Read PODEMOS’S GREEN NEW DEAL an interview with TXEMA GUIJARRO a member of Spanish Parliament with Podemos, the interview was conducted 28/4/19 In response to concrete left vision "The two touchstones of our program are our Green New Deal package and the series of measures we are proposing as a response to the demands of the feminist movement. If I had to highlight two clear transformative proposals, in particular, I would first point to our commitment to establish a number of strategic public companies. This will include a state investment bank so as to secure Spain’s energy transition to 100 percent renewables over the next 20 years. We are also proposing to create a public energy company, building on the great work at a municipal level in places like Barcelona where we have been governing with our allies in Barcelona en Comú. The creation of a public distribution company will be key in a context in which we have to undertake a profound transformation of all energy production. This will obviously come into conflict, however, with the interests of the existing energy giants. The energy market in Spain is really a cartel, with some of the highest prices in Europe. And so we are also aiming to challenge this capture of the market by establishing such a national company." Drilling into this further TG brings up creating "a program of mass public employment, the likes of which have never really been seen in Spain before. We are talking about the creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs." The particular concern in Spain is Desertification where it's not unrealistic to say the Sahara starts in Spain now. The Sun and Waves are the major untapped energy sources "My colleague Jaume Asens said the other day that if the planet was a bank, it would have been bailed out by now." https://jacobinmag.com/2019/04/podemos-green-new-deal-pablo-iglesias/ THE GREEN NEW DEAL’S FIVE FREEDOMS an outline of the benefits, maybe more social, of an American GND, inspired by FDR's Economic Bill of Rights (that never got fully realised) Interesting things this article mentions are programs that would aid people by guaranteeing rights to food, water and a storm proof shelter as a means of avoiding the (almost inevitable) conflict that Climate Change would bring over such things. The article argues a distinction between work and toil, freedom to work, freedom from toil. Also suggests free public transport as a means of moving away from personal transport and a borderless society to help people deal with the local environmental catastrophes https://jacobinmag.com/2019/02/green-new-deal-four-freedoms-fdr/ A GREEN NEW DEAL FOR THE UK The Labour Party's John McDonnell on how a "Green Industrial Revolution" can advance a radical program against climate change Jeremy quote "Just as the US GI Bill gave education, housing and income support to every unemployed veteran returning from the Second World War, the next Labour Government will guarantee that all energy workers are offered retraining, a new job on equivalent terms and conditions covered by collective agreements, and fully supported in their housing and income needs through transition." John argues that Labour has a focus on guaranteeing a good quality of life for the working class during a Green transition as historically economic transitions have fucked them (mentioning Thatcher's deindustrialisation of the UK). Mentions his thoughts that an invocation of the New Deal will work for Yanks but tying it to the idea of the industrial revolution would work better for Brits. A pamphlet at a Labour Party Confrence (Green Transformation) argued for attempting to reverse the decline of biodiversity (amongst other things) which I don't see brought up enough. Removing British companies from the London stock exchange if they don't meet green criteria is also an interesting idea. https://jacobinmag.com/2019/05/john-mcdonnell-labour-green-industrial-revolution/ A GREEN NEW DEAL FOR EUROPE A Barcelona graduate, policy wonk and activist talk about their plan for the EU wide GND Generating 100 percent of energy from renewables by 2050, improving drinking water infrastructure, guaranteeing a “green” job to every adult. Points out that Podemos' green turn is relatively recent, Más Madrid's public object library plan is cool. Ada Colau of Barcelona has accomplished a lot in Barcelona which colours Spain's more municipalist solutions. "As Jane McAlevey explained in a recent article for Jacobin, the much-needed alliances between trade unions and environmentalists remain rare." pointing to union examples of advocating for expansion of airports etc etc. "Similarly in France, Emmanuel Macron has abandoned his initial “environmentalist” posture — as a petition signed by more than two million people recently reminded him. Indeed, his only green minister, the well-known activist Nicolas Hulot, resigned after noting the president’s indifference towards climate questions." The article points out that the actions of the green parties in France/Germany are insufficiently radical to combat climate change. https://www.jacobinmag.com/2019/05/europe-ecosocialism-green-new-deal-labour-melenchon-podemos PIE IN THE SKY: workplace temp regulation

Labour Market Liberalisation after the Lehman Crisis: Comparing France, Germany and Japan

10 years after the collapse of the investment firm Lehman Brothers, a shift in discourses on structural labour market reforms is becoming ever more visible. Whereas before the crash many experts and policymakers had argued that market-oriented reforms were necessary to improve labour market and economic performance, the social costs of liberalisation now seem to attract much more attention. Yet the jury is still out on whether this discursive shift has prompted a similar change in policy. While policies emphasising social equality appear to have gained in popularity (e.g. minimum wages, equal treatment for non-standard workers), structural reforms echoing liberalisation are also still on the agenda (e.g. French reforms of labour contract law). This event aims to shed light on this mixed picture of continuity and change by bringing together three renowned scholars from France, Germany, and Japan for a roundtable discussion. They will discuss whether and to what extent the Lehman crisis (a.k.a. the global financial crisis) has indeed led to a lasting reorientation of labour market policy and politics.

Sheldon: Hello my audience, welcome to today's Campus Interview from VOE Foreign Languages Radio. I'm your old friend Sheldon.Latisha: Hi 大家好,欢迎翻开今天的校园访谈录,我是你们的好朋友费丹力。今天我们将继续采访来自北京语言大学的梁黎民,他将与我们分享他周游欧洲的经历以及他对未来的的打算Sheldon: Limin, last time we mainly talked about your school BLCU. In today's program, would you like to talk some details of your life in Europe? For example, when you first arrived in Spain, did you adapt to the new environment? Especially the weather, as far as I know, the weather in Spain is quite different from that in China.黎民: You may think that the weather in Spain is the Mediterranean style for example they have sunshine they have the beach the sea but the weather in Santiago is not that type at all. Because we were at the western coast of the ?? of Spain. The weather there was very much like the Britain style. So there was raining everyday and the wind was really strong. So I was there for one year and I never adapt to the weather. Latisha: 黎民谈到圣地亚哥的气候并不是典型的地中海气候而是英国式的气候,几乎天天下雨同时伴随着强风,这样的天气对于我们来说确实不好受啊~Sheldon: That's true, so in this condition, what do you usually do in your spare time? I know football in Spain is very popular and you're also a big fan of it. Did you watch the Spain La Liga?黎民: Yeah, I went to many matches of the Spanish Primera League. I went to Santiago Bernabéu to watch a ? and there were 80,000 people there and the atmosphere inside the Santiago Bernabéu was incredible. And also watch some matches of other small teams for example ? something like that. So I think you have to watch a football game if you go to Spain. This is most important culture there. Latisha: 哇,能在世界著名的伯纳乌球场观看西班牙甲级联赛,这样的经历恐怕是终生难忘的吧!Sheldon: Exactly! Spain is one of the leading footballing countries. Thus, the football matches shouldn't be missed. And moreover, I hear that you travelled the Europe during the year. But I wondered you sure you have that much time to travel? Anyway, could you share the experiences of travelling with our audience? That must be fantastic! Latisha: 对啊,我一直好奇周游欧洲是一番怎样的体验啊?你旅行的起点是哪里呢?黎民:It was really a pity but I still got some time to travel around the Europe. To begin with, I went to Portugal because the city I live in was only 300 kilometers away from Porto the second biggest city in Portugal. From then, I also went to France Germany and Austria and many other countries. The best thing I found out about Europe is that there are many famous cities there and every 3 or 4 hundred kilometers you will find one very important city in Europe for example you can go to Berlin from Munich in just 5 or 6 hours and this is really a good way of travelling, comparing to travelling to China, you know, we need to travel more than 10 hours from the North side to the South side. My favorite country had to be Spain. Because first of all the people were very nice in Spain. The Spanish people will always try to help you when you have any question or you have any problem while travelling. Secondly, you will always find many kinds of delicious food. Over the streets, the squares there are many Spanish ??. That is why I like Spain best.Sheldon: That's fabulous! Sheldon: Well, that would be a memorable experience. And Limin I can see you loved the life in Spain even in Europe. However you will graduate in a year. Have you ever thought about your future? Do you intend to return to Spain for graduate study or study in homeland or find a job in somewhere?黎民: Ok so I'm going to graduate in a year and I have to find myself a job. Now I have many kinds of jobs to choose from. But I want to go to South America as you know there are many Spanish speaking countries in South America for example Argentina Columbia Venezuela or many countries. I think there are 20 countries speaking Spanish in total. So I'm going to develop some oversea markets for our country and for those companies controlled by the country. And I think I will go to South America for 3 or 4 years so-so. Then I want to work in Beijing. Sheldon: No matter where growing up per se is difficult, I think. Latisha: 没错,但如此丰富的阅历也一定会使你在今后的工作和生活中游刃有余。未来的南美之行相信又将会是你记忆中浓墨重彩的一笔!Sheldon: How time flies! Our program is about to come to an end, unconsciously. At the end, Limin, would you like to teach the audience some simple words in Spanish as a concluding remark? 黎民: OK OK, I will teach you three phrases in Spanish. The first one is “Good morning”. So every time you see some Spanish person in the morning and you want to say good morning to him you should say “Buenos días“. If you want to say “Goodbye” to him you should say “Adiós” . And if you want to say “thanks” or “many thanks” as we often do in Spanish you should say “Muchas gracias”. So I think that's all. Sheldon: Wow, that's interesting! I have gotten it! Finally, thank you so much for your time and I wish you will have a bright future.黎民: Thank you very much. I will try my best. So I wish your VOE will get better and better and and have more and more audiences. 节目监制:刘子含编辑:刘子含播音:刘子含 费丹力制作:刘子含

Amanda Klekowski von Koppenfels presents her paper 'American migrants in France, Germany, and the UK' in Parallel session II(D) of the conference Examining Migration Dynamics: Networks and Beyond, 24-26 Sept 2013 Migration between two countries, or localities within those countries, is usually examined only uni-directionally (although return migration may, often in a context of transnationalism, be taken into account). Examining the less-studied half of such a migration dyad can help us to understand more clearly the ways in which migration feedback processes function. This paper considers the case of Americans in France, Germany and the United Kingdom, three key receiving countries for American migrants (estimated at 2.2 to 6.8 million worldwide), and will examine the role of networks and interactions, broadly defined, which have played a role in leading these Americans to migrate. To do so, it will draw on 115 semi-structured in-depth interviews carried out in London, Paris and Berlin in 2011, as well as upon 450 survey responses from France, Germany and the UK. These data will be analyzed with respect to factors leading to migration, exploring what role a range of interactions and networks have played in migration. These include professional, educational, state-organized and a wide variety of personal networks (including nationals of France, Germany and the UK) - a far broader range than is usually considered. The dualism of temporary vs permanent migration will also be questioned; the paper will suggest that a continuum is more helpful in understanding the nature of migration, and will be drawn upon. This recognition, in turn, has an impact upon the ways in which personal and institutional resources are drawn upon by migrants. The paper will examine which factors, including networks and/or social interactions, are most significant in each country, whether there are key differences between receiving countries, including historically, and in how far these contribute to strengthening the bi-directionality of these migration systems. The paper will thus contribute to our understanding of migration feedback processes and development of migration systems.
