POPULARITY

"I believe photographers should shoot what they want, not shoot what they get." - Roberto Valenzuela "Skill in photography is acquired by practice and not by purchase." - Percy W. Harris In this episode, Antonio dives into a bit of a rant about AI in photo editing, expressing his mixed feelings. He appreciates the convenience these tools offer but worries they're stripping away the authenticity and skill that go into creating great photos. Antonio also talks about his recent street photography class and the joy of teaching others, even mentioning a beautiful day out shooting with his Fujifilm Instax camera. Ward jumps in next, talking about his new Fujifilm XS20 camera. He talks about how well it performed at a rodeo event, praising the advanced autofocus and how easy it was to handle despite its compact size. Ward's enthusiasm is contagious as he describes the buzz of getting those dynamic action shots, and how this new gear opened up new possibilities for his photography. He goes into detail about how the camera's features, like the flippy screen and face detection, made capturing the fast-paced action much easier. Ward also shares his experience of learning to use the new camera on the go and how it helped him refine his skills. This episode has Antonio in a bit of a ranting mood, while Ward's excitement for his new camera gear shines through. Subscribe to our Substack Newsletter Help out the show by buying us a coffee! She parts some great wisdom on scoring the best deals with airlines, hotels and resorts and how to take advantage of travel perks parents may not even realize exist. Sarah also shares with us what some of her favorite locations are and why. You will learn so much from this episode so make sure you have your pen and paper handy! Sara has been a writer & creative director specializing in kids and family entertainment for the past decade. Her company, WhirlyGigCreative Inc., has been responsible for countless commercials including Shopkins, Little Live Pets and Fujifilm Instax. Sara has also worked on several Movies and TV Shows & just recently self published her first novel. While digital camera manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to improve and increase resolution, dynamic range, frame rate, ISO, and…everything, a very strong counter trend has emerged that is turning back to analog, mechanical, and film techniques. Standing out among these “throwback” technologies is the rising popularity of instant film and instant film cameras. Fujifilm Instax has seen their sales soar but more interesting is the Impossible Project, who, in just a few years has become the go-to source for a wide variety of instant film and, recently, instant cameras, such as the new I-1 Instant Film Camera. On today's episode we talk with Patrick Tobin from Impossible and photographer George Weiss, who incorporates instant film into his portrait and wedding work. We discuss how Impossible began by purchasing the last remaining Polaroid film factory, how they refurbish cameras for re-sale and continue to tweak their instant film chemistry. Join us for an enlightening discussion on the intricacies of an upstart company that is finding success marketing “old” technology to new customers.
