Picasso Trigger, the third installment of the L.E.T.H.A.L Cinematic Universe. This one crams even more pages of Playboy into the cast list. SEVEN former playmates. Sidaris has a formula. But as far as we can understand the plot: A homeless person's Ernst Stavro Blofeld vows vengeance on The Agency for having killed his brother in Hard Ticket to Hawaii. So, maybe it's more like Die Hard 3? After several of their colleagues are rubbed out, L.E.T.H.A.L (aka Girls with Guns), with the aid of gadgets from the Professor, a Bosley from Charlie's Angels knock-off named Long Dong and leading man Travis Abilene take down the crime lord behind it all, Miguel Ortiz. Also, the first operative to die actually faked his own death and was a bad guy. Picasso Trigger final grade: Steve Sidaris' movie-writing skills are trending in the right direction. This one is probably a *better* movie than either Hard TIcket or Malibu Express. The nod to James Bond with all the gadgets was fun. 2.79/5.0 Brandon The plot of this movie is ¯_(ツ)_/¯, again, nearly impossible to track. The boring bits of this one are exacerbated by the lack of...visual distractions...to draw your attention away from any monotony. Gotta give this one a similar score as the others, but the magic may be wearing off. 3.69/5 Cocktail of the Week: Ranch Water 1 1/2 oz Tequila Blanco 1 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice Sparkling water Build the drink the the glass. Pour ingredients over ice and stir to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge. Cocktail Grade: A fine tequila-based spin on the Gin Rickey, low-sugar, low calorie, all health. 4.5/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/boozeandbmovies/support

In Washington D.C., the Gin Rickey is not so much a preferred drink but part of the city's cultural fabric. It is here, history and booze historians tell us, that gin cemented its status as the signature spirit of lime-scented highballs, before winning the hearts and palates of the social and political elite. Here to tell us how it did so, and why the Gin Rickey is so revered, is Andra “AJ” Johnson. A longtime D.C. resident and hospitality veteran, AJ is the managing partner of Serenata, in the city's Union Market District, and founder of the Back to Black pop-up. Listen on (or read below) to discover AJ's Gin Rickey recipe — and don't forget to like, review, and subscribe! Andra “AJ” Johnson's Gin Rickey Recipe Ingredients - 2 ounces London Dry-style gin - ½ ounce fresh lime juice - 5 ounces club soda - Garnish: fresh lime wedge Directions 1. Add gin and lime to a chilled highball glass and stir slightly. 2. Top with club soda poured down a spiral bar spoon. 3. Carefully add ice. 4. Garnish with lime wedge. Hosted on Acast. Since settling into his calling behind the bar, he has won several cocktail competitions including the coveted title of the best daiquiri in Miami. Also in this episode, Joseph walks us through a cocktail based on one of his favorite's, the Gin Rickey. Enjoy this episode as we go Beyond the Drink… with Joseph Jebelean. (cocktail recipe below) Ravishing Rick Rhub Makes 1 cocktail 1.25 oz gin, such as Fords Gin .75 oz rhubarb-sauvignon blanc cordial (instructions below) .5 oz fresh lime juice .25 oz Italicus Bergamot Liqueur 2 dashes orange bitters 2 oz soda water, such as Topo Chico To an ice filled collins glass, add gin, rhubarb-sauvignon blanc cordial, lime juice, bergamot liqueur, bitters and soda water. Gently fold that all together with a spoon and garnish with a rhubarb ribbon. For the Rhubarb-Wine Cordial: 1. Cut rhubarb (the amount you have) into 1-inch pieces and weigh the total. You will use this same weight for the sugar and the sauvignon blanc. Place rhubarb in a bowl or dish. 2. Add that same amount of sugar and let macerate overnight. 3. Strain the solids from the liquid, making sure to keep the “syrup” that releases from the rhubarb. 4. Add that same amount, in weight, of sauvignon blanc to the syrup and mix, making sure the sugar is completely dissolved. This episode is Presented by Fords Gin. Come porching with us as Joanna Taft from the Harrison Center shares her story over a Gin Rickey. Joanna grew up in Washington D.C. knowing that she wanted to solve problems in the Federal Government. That was until she met her husband and they moved to Cambridge City, Indiana where she worked as a program coordinator for Huddleson House. In that role, she learned how to embrace and build communities, which is now the core of her projects. Joanna, her husband, Bill, and young daughter moved to the Herron-Morton neighborhood in 1991. Although it is now the home of some of Indy's most coveted properties, it was not then. Its evolution over the last 30 years is partially contributed to Joanna and Bill's efforts in achieving their family mission: “The healing of the city." Together, they helped start a church, The Oaks Academy, the Harrison Center, and Herron High School in the Herron-Morton neighborhood. You can now find Joanna hosting Porch Parties every Sunday to build community with her neighbors, working on PreEnact Indy, and sharing the stories of the Greatriarchs in Indianapolis. Tune in to learn about the different forms of gentrification, how to embrace the history of your neighborhood, and about Joanna's newest projects. Halloween Cocktails Imbibe | Creepy Cocktails and Witchy Wines | Susie Shelby (Interview) https://selbywinery.com/our-story/ https://www.intrinsicmotivation.life/ Halloween parties are a great way to get creative with costumes AND cocktails! Invite food and wine expert Susie Shelby for a fun show where you'll be serving up creepy concoctions like the Rosemary's Baby, the Dark and Spooky, and the Pina Choulada. She'll also share simple advice for low-stress entertaining. “Most importantly, choose foods and snacks that don't need utensils and can be prepared ahead of time. Then set up food and beverage stations so guests can help themselves throughout the party.” A winemaker for more than twenty years, Selby is an expert on food and wine pairings. She's the proprietor of Selby Winery. Selby Winery was founded in 1994 by Susie Selby, Winemaker, and her father, David K. Selby, M.D. Dr. Selby was a Vietnam war hero, a marble sculptor, and a world-renowned spine surgeon who traveled internationally, primarily to Europe. These trips were instrumental in an affinity for old-world wines that he and Susie shared starting with the first vintages of Selby Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Susie learned to make wine in a hands-on apprenticeship environment, starting as a tasting room manager, then a forklift driver/Cellar Master and eventually becoming the Assistant Winemaker at a larger winery, while still making the Selby Wines. Prior to his sudden death in 1997, Dave and his wife Nancy, who lived in Dallas, would travel frequently to Wine Country to taste blends with Susie and enjoy the food and wine of the region. After Dave passed away Susie decided to continue the dream of Selby and managed to do it on her own through a lot of hard work and challenges. Today she still has no partners or investors. Selby Winery produces over sixteen different varietals and has won numerous awards and accolades. “Enjoy wine; enjoy life,” will continue to be Susie's approach to being a winemaker. That expression, like the wines, is a reflection of the passion, the fun and the enjoyment that Susie and Dave shared. halloween cocktails imbibe - How to Make Halloween Drinks - Find and Share Everyday Cooking Recipes Drinks & cocktails with Maple Syrup Making cocktail recipes at home can be pretty simple, too Learn how to make a Gin Rickey cocktail with this simple Gin Rickey Recipe How to make a Rum Relaxer Cocktail the orange margarita recipe is an awesome halloween cocktail recipe with tequila that can really wow your friends this year. how to make a halloween cocktail: the frankenstein's monster. This is technically Part 3 with Rich Gibson, the newly elected State's Attorney for Howard County. Rich came in for an earlier recording session which had recording audio difficulties but we were able to salvage this from the archives. It is arguably our funniest episode yet!!!! Rich has a long career as a prosecutor. He started out in Prince George's County and then spent 12 years in the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office handling murders, shootings, and major investigations before being elected to the top job in his home county. He has a ton of experience and will bring that experience and knowledge to his new job in Howard County. This week we're sampling Wigle's Ginever Gin in a Gin Rickey. Here is some information on Ginever Gin (short version, it's a whiskey based gin, distilled in a copper pot, not a vodka based gin like common gin's). Top topics include a deep discussion into the life of an elected politician and how Rich's new job differs from what his expectations were. Plus what his plans are for the Howard County SAO. This week the guy's discuss: Prosecutors v. Defense attorney v. Civil attorney, what your experience is defines your view of a case I Can't Believe it's not Baltimore: Zookeeper sells tigers and hires a hitman to kill his rival. NYC's Nunchuck ban is unconstitutional, Karate-men rejoice. NASA may only have Female astronauts on their mission to Mars to avoid, um...complications. Can they do this and is this valid under the EEOC...and practically will it stop the problem? Drink review From Wigle's website: Awarded 2018 Best Gin in the Country by the American Craft Spirit Association. Inspired by a 19th century Pennsylvanian distiller’s recipe, Wigle’s Organic Gin brings back a lost gem of distillation. For the first 600 years of its existence, gin was made from a whiskey base in a copper pot still. This Genever or Dutch-style gin became less popular after the invention of the modern industrial still. Vodka based gins dominate liquor store shelves today. With a grain mash of rye, wheat, malted barley, and a complex family of botanicals, Ginever is rounder and fuller than modern gins. Juniper berries remain forefront but are joined by a number of other botanicals including earthy cardamom, peppery cubeb and fragrant lavender create a layered flavor experience. As with all Wigle products, this handcrafted spirit is made from scratch in our copper pot still in very small batches, using only organic ingredients and local heirloom grains. It’s perfect for whiskey and gin lovers alike. Lawyers on the Rocks features Jeremy Eldridge, Kurt Nachtman and Adam Crandell. This triumvirate of lawyers will give you their unsolicited opinion on everything legal and illegal, while enjoying a handcrafted cocktail. He talks with Randy who tells Erin to try and get a picture. The man sends Erin a drink and Erin takes it and walks over to his table. They exchange a bunch of small talk and Erin drinks the whiskey the man sent over. When the man, Thomas Kine, hands Erin his business card Erin notices a tattoo on his wrist. In honor of Gay Pride Month, we’ve decided to devote the rest of the month on the Bit by a Fox Podcast to LGBTQ stories – highlighting the importance of gay bars and clubs through history, the cultural impact of the movements that came out of those important spaces, and the renegades, revolutionaries and icons behind it all. It’s such a big subject, we’re creating our first podcast series in honor of Pride Month. In the first episode of our three part series, we touch on gay bars through history. Many have argued that the American gay rights movement was kicked off in a bar. Our guest, writer and historian, Christine Sismondo, PHD, has been researching the history of lesbian and gay bars in Toronto, some parts of which have been published in Any Other Way: How Toronto Got Queer (2017), and she is the author of America Walks into a Bar,a book about the history of bars in the United States. We discussed how bars have played such a crucial role in gay culture and politics through the years. Our cocktail this week is a Gin Rickey. Christine picked this classic, tall drink because it was most likely the kind of drink being served at one of these historic gay bars. Gin was also a favorite of Walt Whitman. Gin Rickey 2 ounces gin 1 ounce fresh lime juice club soda garnish: wedge of lime Add the gin and lime juice to an ice-filled highball glass. Add club soda to top. The Cocktail Party Congress is back and in quite a sorry state! Recorded the day after St. Patrick's Day 2018, Dan and J.T. bravely ventured into a discussion of the Bill of Rights and how to use it responsibly, starting with the First Amendment (yes, they could still count, thank God). Freedom of speech, more specifically, as we are saving the freedom of worship for another episode, and there was plenty of free speech had in Dan's living room that day. But are he and J.T. ready for the consequences? Our featured cocktail is the Lime (or Gin) Rickey. To drink along at home, fill a highball glass with ice and add 1 oz. of fresh lime juice, 2 oz. of gin and then top it off with club soda. Garnish with a lime wedge and tell yourself that the citrus makes your life choices healthy. Please drink (and think) responsibly! Created and presented by J.T. Andrews and Dan Caves.
