Hi friends, happy Wednesday! I always wanted to date Robbie Sinclair from Dinosaurs. Anyone else? [CRICKETS] So whenever I drive by a Sinclair gas station, you know, the one with the dinosaur logo? I always think of him. His spiky hair. That letterman jacket. I don't care that he was a foam puppet. I was eight and I knew what I wanted. And what I wanted… was Robbie. I was so distracted by my thoughts of Robbie that I never realized Sinclair Oil had a dark secret. And the whole time it was hiding in plain sight. Back in the 1920s, oil was the new gold. Because out of nowhere, all of a sudden, everything was running on it. Literally. Cars and airplanes were taking over. And if World War 1 taught us anything, it was that we needed an emergency stash of oil for the military… Just in case. It was like a gold rush… but with oil. And when there's money on the table, somebody's gonna get greedy. This is how a *huge* government scandal happened. I'm talking corruption, shady deals, and millions of dollars stuffed into a black briefcase. Today we're diving into one of the dirtiest scandals in U.S. history. Before Watergate, before Enron, before Bill Clinton and Monica, there was… Teapot Dome. And yes, it involves a teapot. Kind of. Welcome to the Dark History of Teapot Dome. FAN MAIL--We would love YOUR feedback--Send us a Text MessageWelcome to a transformative moment for the Theory to Action podcast! After four dedicated years of exploring conservative books and wisdom, we're expanding our horizons with a new weekly format that complements our traditional book-focused episodes. This inaugural Weekend Show establishes a historical foundation by ranking America's five most significant presidential scandals. From the infamous Watergate break-in that forced Nixon's resignation to the secret oil reserve leases of Teapot Dome, the Clinton-Lewinsky affair, railroad corruption during Grant's administration, and the Whiskey Ring tax evasion scheme—each scandal reveals profound lessons about power, accountability, and the fragility of democratic institutions.Having established this historical baseline, we turn our attention to troubling contemporary revelations. Recently declassified information points to what could potentially become the most consequential political scandal in American history—a nine-year presidential coup attempt with connections to the highest levels of government. Drawing from authors like Lee Smith and Greg Jarrett who documented these developments in real-time, we promise future episodes that will methodically examine the evidence and implications. The show also highlights notable new conservative literature, including Mark Levin's latest exploration of power dynamics and Drago Dazarian's powerful journey from political prisoner to Navy SEAL. We close with wisdom from Joshua Metcalf's "Chop Wood, Carry Water," a book currently being studied by the Ohio State Buckeyes football team, on embracing the essential processes that lead to greatness. Our mission remains unchanged: to distill timeless wisdom from great conservative books and translate it into immediate action for a flourishing life. In the first half, author Clete Keith delved into the hauntings at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, CA, where he worked for over 20 years. Numerous ghosts and apparitions have been seen on the site over the years. The ambitious oil man Edward Doheny purchased 429 acres in Beverly Hills, and part of this land became the site for the iconic Greystone Mansion built between 1927 and 1928, for Doheny's son Ned. "Greystone isn't just a house; it's a nexus of history, wealth, and mystery," Keith commented, adding that many Hollywood movies have been filmed at the 46,000-square-foot home, which contains some 55 rooms. In 1929, Ned was found dead at the mansion along with his friend and assistant Hugh Plunkett in what appeared to be a murder/suicide possibly related to the Teapot Dome scandal involving oil leases and political corruption. One visitor to the mansion, a psychically sensitive individual, saw and spoke with the ghost of a little girl named Emily. Another chilling story involved a worker who spotted a girl in white on the mansion's rooftop. He couldn't comprehend how she got up there, and he watched in shock as she jumped off the roof. He and various staff people looked for a body, but none was ever found. It's suspected the child Emily tragically died after an accidental fall from a window or the roof, Keith said. He also shared an encounter of a former staff member who saw a man in a smoking jacket with slicked-back hair in multiple rooms, who was possibly the ghost of Ned. Keith pointed out that Ned was wearing a smoking jacket when he died.------------In the latter half, author and spiritual teacher Sonja Grace discussed her profound experiences with spirit travel, as well as her healing modalities. She explained that spirit travel, which involves her angelic guides, allows her to explore the universe and historical events, including significant periods like Atlantis and Lemuria. "I literally feel like the wind and the cold," she noted, emphasizing the vivid sensations accompanying her travels. Her aim is to contribute to historical understanding, particularly regarding ancient civilizations, by sharing insights into their ceremonies and practices. Regarding Atlantis, she said the civilization acquired nuclear power in the form of an orb, but the technology eventually led to their destruction. As far as the construction of the pyramids in Egypt, she believes they were built at the time of Atlantis, with the assistance of a race of benevolent giants who gave blueprints for the buildings and had the ability to levitate huge stones.Touching on her new book, "The Journey Around the Medicine Wheel," she said her approach to healing and counseling combines her experiences as a Jungian therapist with her Native American spirituality. Grace detailed her long-distance healing practice, saying, "I'm basically energetically doing what a surgeon does." She recounted remarkable success stories, including healing her sister's detached retina, leading to the doctor's surprise at the diagnosis reversal. She also addressed the growing cancer crisis, advocating for a holistic approach that includes energetic healing and natural remedies like certain types of algae. She has concluded that cancer arises from parasitical infestation, and "if we get rid of the parasites, we get rid of the path of destruction."

Rerun: The ‘Teapot Dome scandal' reached its climax when Senator Albert Fall was found guilty of bribery, fined $100,000 and sent to jail on 25th October, 1929. During the Presidency of Warren G Harding, Fall had been offering private companies the chance to drill for oil on state land, without competitive bidding, in return for bags cash. And some farm animals. In this episode, Arion, Olly and Rebecca reveal the unheroic role of newspapers in suppressing the scandal; pick apart the realism of ‘There Will Be Blood'; and ask whether American politics has ever lost its penchant for ‘kickbacks'... Warren G. Harding is elected president in 1920, thanks in part to a backroom deal between Republican Party power brokers and influential oil men. To make good on that deal, Harding's Secretary of the Interior, Albert Fall, quietly leases the federally owned Teapot Dome oil field in Wyoming and two others in California to oil magnates Harry Sinclair and Edward Doheny. But to hand out the leases, Fall wants something in return. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

SERIES 2 EPISODE 206: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: “I wasn't very smart. I decided to travel around the world shortly before the debate,” the President has now said at a fundraiser in Virginia. He then described his arduous travel through 15 Time Zone changes for the G7 and D-Day, and how it affected him at the debate: “I didn't listen to my staff and then I came home and nearly fell asleep on stage.” The debate was June 27. He returned from his travels on June SIXTEENTH. This followed by only a few hours a suggestion from Nancy Pelosi that Biden (and Trump) takes an acuity test: "Both candidates owe whatever test you want to put them to, in terms of their mental acuity and their health — both of them. I think it's a legitimate question to say, is this an episode or is this a condition? When people ask that question, it's completely legitimate — of both candidates." Pelosi thinks Biden has an episode? Or a condition? If there were anything Pelosi could have said that would do LESS to contain all of this, I am hard pressed to guess what it could have been. And there are disastrous new internal polling numbers leaked from Democratic pollsters OpenLabs to Puck News. Since the debate, New Hampshire has now become Trump by three, Virginia is Trump by one and a half; that the president now has leads of half a point or less in New Mexico, Maine, and Minnesota; that Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, George, North Carolina and the Nebraska Second are all Trump by four or more and it's seven in Michigan and Pennsylvania. Biden's support dropped by roughly two percentage points in all twelve of these states and in Colorado and Minnesota. If he cannot recover all of this, the Democrats are looking at a loss of at least 100 electoral votes. The profound moments of American political history – secession, Watergate, Teapot Dome, the retirement of Lyndon Johnson, all the rest – share one commonality. These stories have each taken on a momentum of their own; they have each reached a tipping point when – whether quickly or imperceptibly – the other option began to disappear. The momentum in the Biden Re-Election story changed yesterday. And the tipping point may have been reached. The good news could be that suddenly the only candidate with the age problem, would be Trump. The only candidate with the uncertain grip on reality, would be Trump. The only candidate to be called feeble or gaffe-prone or lost, would be Trump. And if Biden really were convinced to retire from the ticket and the office in order to send Kamala Harris into the campaign with the incumbency, she would be the first woman president of the United States asking the voters to validate her with a full term of office – and doing so when a primary plank of the Democratic campaign is the Republicans' assault on the rights of every woman in this country.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“If you knew of a great scandal in our administration, would you for the good of the country and the party expose it publicly or would you bury it?” This is the story of a brilliant man's presidency and the greatest presidential scandal to precede Watergate. This is the story of Warren G. Harding and the Teapot Dome Scandal. Growing up in Ohio, Warren–or little “Winnie,” as his mom calls him–shows his brilliance from day one. The smart, charismatic, and handsome boy grows up to become a newspaperman and falls in love with politics while reporting. He soon becomes a rising star, holding Ohio then national offices. Taking the reins of government after World War I, the Republican hopes to return the post-war, economically downtrodden, and fearful nation to “normalcy.” But can he return the nation to “normalcy” while his friends in the “Ohio Gang” are making shady deals? And what does Warren know of these deals? Is he naive? Or is the several-times adulterous president, who copes with the stress of office through drink and gambling, in on it? That's the question we'll ask ourselves as we follow his less-than-a-full-term presidency. ____ Connect with us on HTDSpodcast.com and go deep into episode bibliographies and book recommendations join discussions in our Facebook community get news and discounts from The HTDS Gazette come see a live show get HTDS merch or become an HTDS premium member for bonus episodes and other perks. Niven at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, 2007 Laurence van Cott Niven (/ˈnɪvən/; born April 30, 1938) is an American science fiction writer.[2] His 1970 novel Ringworld won the Hugo, Locus, Ditmar, and Nebula awards. With Jerry Pournelle he wrote The Mote in God's Eye (1974) and Lucifer's Hammer (1977). The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America gave him the 2015 Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award.[3] His work is primarily hard science fiction, using big science concepts and theoretical physics. It also often includes elements of detective fiction and adventure stories. His fantasy includes the series The Magic Goes Away, works of rational fantasy dealing with magic as a non-renewable resource. Biography Niven was born in Los Angeles.[2] He is a great-grandson of Edward L. Doheny, an oil tycoon who drilled the first successful well in the Los Angeles City Oil Field in 1892, and also was subsequently implicated in the Teapot Dome scandal.[4] Niven briefly attended the California Institute of Technology[5] and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics (with a minor in psychology) from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas in 1962. He also completed a year of graduate work in mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles. On September 6, 1969, he married Marilyn Wisowaty, a science fiction and Regency literature fan. Work Niven is the author of numerous science fiction short stories and novels, beginning with his 1964 story "The Coldest Place". In this story, the coldest place concerned is the dark side of Mercury, which at the time the story was written was thought to be tidally locked with the Sun (it was found to rotate in a 2:3 resonance after Niven received payment for the story, but before it was published).[6] Algis Budrys said in 1968 that Niven becoming a top writer despite the New Wave was evidence that "trends are for second-raters".[7] In addition to the Nebula Award in 1970[8] and the Hugo and Locus awards in 1971[9] for Ringworld, Niven won the Hugo Award for Best Short Story for "Neutron Star" in 1967.[5] He won the same award in 1972, for "Inconstant Moon", and in 1975 for "The Hole Man". In 1976, he won the Hugo Award for Best Novelette for "The Borderland of Sol". Niven frequently collaborated with Jerry Pournelle; they wrote nine novels together, including The Mote in God's Eye, Lucifer's Hammer and Footfall. Niven at Stanford University in 2006 Niven has written scripts for two science fiction television series: the original Land of the Lost series and Star Trek: The Animated Series, for which he adapted his early story "The Soft Weapon." For The Outer Limits, his story "Inconstant Moon" was adapted into an episode of the same name by Brad Wright. Niven has also written for the DC Comics character Green Lantern, including in his stories hard science fiction concepts such as universal entropy and the redshift effect. Several of his stories predicted the black market in transplant organs ("organlegging"). Many of Niven's stories—sometimes called the Tales of Known Space[10]—take place in his Known Space universe, in which humanity shares the several habitable star systems nearest to the Sun with over a dozen alien species, including the aggressive feline Kzinti and the very intelligent but cowardly Pierson's Puppeteers, which are frequently central characters. The Ringworld series is part of the Tales of Known Space, and Niven has shared the setting with other writers since a 1988 anthology, The Man-Kzin Wars (Baen Books, jointly edited with Jerry Pournelle and Dean Ing).[10] There have been several volumes of short stories and novellas. Niven has also written a logical fantasy series The Magic Goes Away, which utilizes an exhaustible resource called mana to power a rule-based "technological" magic. The Draco Tavern series of short stories take place in a more light-hearted science fiction universe, and are told from the point of view of the proprietor of an omni-species bar. The whimsical Svetz series consists of a collection of short stories, The Flight of the Horse, and a novel, Rainbow Mars, which involve a nominal time machine sent back to retrieve long-extinct animals, but which travels, in fact, into alternative realities and brings back mythical creatures such as a roc and a unicorn. Much of his writing since the 1970s has been in collaboration, particularly with Jerry Pournelle and Steven Barnes, but also Brenda Cooper and Edward M. Lerner. One of Niven's best known humorous works is "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex", in which he uses real-world physics to underline the difficulties of Superman and a human woman (Lois Lane or Lana Lang) mating.[11]

Hello and welcome back to Breakfast with Mom.Today I want to tell you about the Teapot Dome Scandal. The Teapot Dome Scandal was a major political scandal in the United States during the 1920s. It centered around the secret leasing of federal oil reserves, including the Teapot Dome oil field in Wyoming, and two other fields in California, to private oil companies without competitive bidding. The scandal was a significant example of government corruption and corporate influence on the U.S. government. The scandal came to light when investigative journalists and political opponents exposed the corrupt dealings.cranberry sauceIngredients12 ounces cranberries (rinsed and dried)1 cup white sugar1 cup fresh squeezed orange juiceDirections: Dissolve sugar in the orange juice in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the cranberries and cook until they start to pop, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and place sauce in a bowl. It will thicken as it cools. You can even make this a day ahead and place in the fridge after it has come to room temperature. Extra step: from here you can add orange zest to the top to make it more festive.Resources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teapot_Dome_scandalhttps://www.britannica.com/money/topic/Teapot-Dome-Scandalhttps://www.crf-usa.org/bill-of-rights-in-action/bria-24-4-the-teapot-dome-scandal.htmlhttps://untoldhistory.org/the-teapot-dome-scandal-explained/https://www.wyohistory.org/encyclopedia/teapot-dome-scandalhttps://www.history.com/topics/roaring-twenties/teapot-dome-scandal#paying-off-the-pressAll the things: Music: "A Sip of Coffee to Relieve Stress" by Katzen TupasLogo Artwork: Strawbeary Studios https://www.youtube.com/@StrawbearyStudios/featuredEpisode was researched, written and edited by ShanoaSocial Media: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090200010112X (formerly Twitter): @breakfastmompodEmail: breakfastwithmompodcast@gmail.comWebsite: https://breakfastwithmompodcast.com/
Hi Nan! WELCOME TO SCANDALGUST, the month where the weather is hot but the scandals are like bare legs going down a tin slide that has been sitting in the Georgia sun for DECADES. Did someone say tetanus-infected third-degree burns? I did. And I will again. (Synonym for "anyway"), in this inaugural episode of SCANDALGUST we thought we'd add to the steaming discourse of the many dangers of giving mediocre white men LOTS of unchecked power, as demonstrated by the current political climate of the United States...but also demonstrated by the Teapot Dome Scandal, which is what this episode is about lolol. Now that we wrote a whole dissertation about the fact that today's episode is about the Teapot Dome Scandal, here are the cameos from today's episode:Audrey almost dropping her very expensive law school iPad not once but twiceA political scandal involving a bunch of greedy, horny, mediocre white men…WHO IS SURPRISEDHarding's presidency giving damp dish towel…and BLOWHIOHarding being HARD for the ladies and basically dying due to the stress of being a SCANDALOUS QUEENAlbert Bartreese Fall"Can I get a side of cultural heritage" - QuillThe Republican National Committee doing classic RNC thingsQuill and Audrey taking “Which President Are You” quizzes and being absolutely chuffed by the resultBye.
Dan checks in with 630 KHOW host Leland Conway on possible remedies for his elderly dog's terrifying fear of thunderstorms. Ryan details the history of The Teapot Dome Scandal involving President Warren G. Harding's administration over 100 years ago, a bribery scandal which he suggests pales in comparison to the Biden Crime Family's overseas business dealings that have compromised Joe Biden's presidency.
Over 100 years ago, the United States had corrupt politicians who could actually be prosecuted for their crimes in gaming the economy. As mythical as it may seem, the history of a small band of radical and gutsy senators who were willing to put it all on the line for justice can serve as inspiration for those who have only ever seen their political representatives bought and paid for. In Crooked: The Roaring '20s Tale of a Corrupt Attorney General, a Crusading Senator, and the Birth of the American Political Scandal, author, producer and Emmy winner Nathan Masters explores the remarkable time in American history.

We talk about a man who is consistently ranked as one of the worst American presidents in history, and the unfortunate scandal that gave him this reputation.
In the early 1920s, what was considered to be the largest political scandal in American history became public. Despite the enormous amount of attention given to it in the press at the time, both the scandal and the president that was attached to it, have both been largely forgotten. Yet, the legacy of this scandal can still be found in the laws today, as well as in how the media and the public respond to political scandals. Scandal rocked the small town of Beverly Hills, CA in 1929. At a massive mansion built by an oil tycoon's son, Ned Doheny, two men were shot and killed in an apparent murder-suicide. Almost 100 years later, no one can tell you exactly what happened that night because the case is full of rumors including a love affair, a coverup, and the inclusion of the political controversy of its time, the Teapot Dome scandal. Today, the grounds of the home known as Greystone Mansion are open to the public, but few know the history of the murder-suicide that took place within those walls. Plausibly Live! - The Official Podcast of The Dave Bowman Show
In the summer of 1922, the Republican Party was in deep trouble. Tradition holds that all Presidents see their party lose seats in Congress during the mid-terms, but the Administration was facing the loss of seats to it's OWN party! While the republicans had trended to become more conservative, there was a significant segment of the party leaning full on into the progressive movement of the era. These progressive Republicans, led by Senator Robert Lafollette were gaining ground fast. All they - and the Democrats - really needed to take Congress was a scandal. And few Presidents in history were better equipped to give the nation a scandal than Warren G. Harding... --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/plausibly-live/message
"The Jones Phone" could become as famous in the language of American Presidential Scandal as "Watergate" or "Teapot Dome." His lawyer's gaffe in the Alex Jones Sandy Hook Defamation obviously impacts that lawsuit. But wait: you're saying ALL of Alex Jones' texts since 2019 are now legally in the hands of a lawyer suing him? So, ALL of any texts Alex Jones sent Trump or Roger Stone or The Oath Keepers or the rest of Trump's January 6th mob are AVAILABLE? If you didn't notice, the House January 6th Committee sure did and reportedly reached out to the Sandy Hook parents' attorney with a simple request: SEND US THE JONES PHONE! Also in this episode: the post-Kansas Vote outlook for Choice and for November, the latest paper trail of John Eastman's hallucinatory legal advice, 'So what if I finished fourth, I'm not conceding,' and the only moron in America who would defend Alex Jones after the day he had - Joe Rogan - competes for Worst Persons Dishonors. More on the passing of the legendary Vin Scully, and I'll look back on the amazing day in 2005 when MSNBC fired Rachel Maddow. Most historians think of Warren G. Harding as a jazz-age hedonist who was much more of an empty suit than a serious president. Once in the White House, they argue, the 29th president busied himself with golf, poker, and his mistress, while appointees and cronies plundered the U.S. government. His secretary of the interior allowed oilmen, in exchange for bribes, to access government oil reserves, including one in Teapot Dome, Wyoming, the namesake for the scandal that hangs over Harding's legacy today. But one American history professor thinks that this narrative is hopelessly simplified andsimplistic. In fact, Walters, author of the book The Jazz Age President: Defending Warren G. Harding, that he belongs in the Top Ten list of U.S. chief executives. He credits Harding with the following: • Inheriting a postwar depression, Harding turned it into an economic boom. On his watch personal prosperity soared and unemployment fell to 1.6 percent• He reversed Wilson's grandiose plans to hand over American sovereignty to ambitious internationalist organizations• He healed a nation in the throes of social disruption, releasing citizens imprisoned by the Wilson administration under the controversial Sedition Act of 1918 and using the bully pulpit to promote civil rights in the heyday of Jim Crow
