Psalm 107 promises that those who do their business on great waters will see the works of the Lord. The wonders of God's power in our lives are often preceded by immense struggle. There are seasons where we reel and stagger and come to our wits' end. When we cry to the Lord in our trouble, He is able to bring us out of our distress and cause the storm to be still. Perhaps God has called you out onto great waters, and you are nearing your wits' end. Do you know and have you cried unto the One who can bring you to your desired haven?
My guest today is no stranger to many of you, but I'll bet you will learn something about her you don't know. And if you don't Andrea Wuori, you will most certainly enjoy hearing her story, her journey and her many interesting experiences! Hailing from North Carolina, where she grew up and went to school, she found herself in Atlanta, where she lived for most of her adult life. We'll talk about how in the mid 2000's, after playing the Great Waters Course, she and husband Dick fell in love with the idea of living here. Well, perhaps Dick more than Andrea, at leat in the beginning. Yet, they still found themselves buying a lot and building a home at the Lake, in Great Waters! We'll talk about their love of travel, now having visited every continent at least once, which is her favorite continent, country and city... And being an avid golfer, playing golf all around the world, which are her favorite, and least favorite, courses. Did you know Andrea has had five holes-in-one? We'll talk about what that is like the first time it happens! And what is it like to not only golf, but fish all around the world! She will share some fun stories, fish facts and a close encounter of a bear kind! There's so much to my guest and friend, I'll excited to introduce her to you! In the tranquil Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee, a shocking discovery shattered a peaceful gated community: Russell Dermond and his wife Shirley Dermond went missing after they failed to attend a party. Russels headless body was discovered 3 days later in their home, while Shirley was found in the pristine lake waters. The murders of this elderly couple have baffled everyone, leaving a team of dedicated investigators still trying to work out what happened. But only 2 months ago, new evidence has been released, and authorities are confident, its only a matter of time until the ones responsible, finally pay for their horrible crimes. In the quiet gated community of Great Waters in Eatonton, Georgia, 85 miles east of Atlanta, lived Russell and Shirley Dermond. As per their website, Great Waters is part of Reynolds Lake Oconee; a luxury golf and lakefront community boasting 12,000 acres of lakefront property, six golf courses, 11 restaurants, as well as recreational and culinary amenities befitting a world-class private club. This was the perfect retirement location for the Dermonds as Russell was an avid golfer and Shirley was a keen gardener. With a crime rate of zero, they felt safe and could enjoy their days in their hard earned dream home. The safety they, and the community felt, was shattered when, in 2014, Russell was found dead in his home and Shirley was nowhere to be found. This is their story. In this episode I'm joined by Alexander Dumont, a British Army Officer working at the US National Training Center in the California desert, which makes his topic of German Submarines all the more unexpected and interesting. Alex tells us about the hazards of submarine warfare, not just because of the unrestricted nature but even a toilet could take out a sub. He also talks about the technology, gunnery, diving, and other activities of submariners at this time, and how the late spring 1943 was a turning point for U-Boats, going from two "Happy Times" to a very unhappy time that will ultimately last for the rest of the war. The book Alex mentions in the beginning of the episode is Business in Great Waters by John Terraine, which can be found here if you'd like the Amazon Affiliate Link https://amzn.to/3XuGK04 but it's pricy so maybe check your local library first :) He also mentioned U-505, "the only German sub in the US" which can be seen at the Chicago Museum of Science + Industry (https://www.msichicago.org/explore/whats-here/exhibits/u-505-submarine/). http://www.motheroftanks.com/ads-sponsors-and-affiliate-links/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mother-of-tanks/message
My guest today is such an interesting guy and I can't wait for you to meet my friend, Lou Benjamin. Lou grew up in Cincinnati and spent his younger years there. He had a unique plan for college and beyond that, as often happens, changed course. But during that time, he realized he had a knack for sales, which took him in a different direction. Lou will tell us about a visit to Atlanta that actually never ended! He never left, moved there, established a career in recruiting AND ultimately his own business, where he discovered a niche that served him well his entire career. His career took him to major companies and clients all over the world! Lou is one of those rare, early adopter property buyers of Reynolds, when it was very young. In fact, he tells us at that time, when you came to look at property, you stayed at the sales managers home while you were visiting! He and his wife Paula also bought a weekend home, a golf cottage in Great Waters, before there was a world-class golf course there! He'll tell us stories about the excitement of watching the course come out of the ground and explains one of the unique reasons it IS the course we know and love today! One of the things you will love about Lou is his easygoing humor, but unmistakable wisdom. He used that knowledge and served on the Reynolds Board of Governors, not once but twice. The first time was before he was a full time resident and the second, which he served as Chair, was during one of the most critical times, during the transition of ownership of the property to Met Life. He'll tell us about what did happen and even more interesting, what could have happened, if the stars had not lined up properly. Lou seems to find himself serving his community at times when they really need him most. It happened when Eatonton and Putnam County found themselves in some dire economic circumstances when one of those worst case scenarios come to pass. Lou was part of a private community think tank and instrumental in discovering a viable economic solution. They accomplished this by establishing Eatonton as a tourism destination by creating visual and literary art venues. You will know these today as the Artisans Village and the Georgia Writers Museum. Lou was instrumental in establishing these hidden gems, and is still active in the organizations today! I look forward to talking to Lou about what's next for the area, and telling us about the past, present and future. We even have a discussion about AI (Artificial Intelligence) and where we think that may he rapidly heading! You'll still find Lou actively supporting the causes he believes in, while he enjoys golf, traveling and a bit of acting! This is a special episode! It features guest hosts from the UW- Stevens Point fly fishing club, Paige, Riley and Eli. We talked with multiple guests from the Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo. 5 Rivers had the opportunity to have a booth at the expo in St. Paul Minnesota this March. We got to connect with young emerging anglers as well as people in the fly fishing industry. We talked to Gustavo Hiebaum, founder of SET fly fishing in Argentina, Jim Anderson with Project Healing Waters, artist Stanley Leonard, Monta Hayner with The Driftless Fly Fishing Co, Lance Prado owner of Root River Rod Co. and Hannah and Kyle, owners of Black Earth Angling Co. My good friend and neighbor, Steve Goodyear, will be talking about one of everyone's favorite topics...food, of course! (And golf, and certainly UGA football!) We'll talk about food from a slightly different perspective, food flavoring. You see, Steve is the CEO of Summit Hill Foods, a four-generation company that specialized in bringing the ultimate flavor out in many of the foods you love! You'll learn about Steve's early career with Gerber Foods (yes, the baby food company) and his interesting career, with both a diverse geographic journey, which included a stint in Georgia early on, and though working through a number of business mergers & acquisitions, was able to work for the same company for 29 years! And though he attempted to retire early and enjoy a daily round of golf, he soon discovered his calling to return to the food industry (perhaps with a little help from Colleen!) taking a senior leadership role with Summit Hill Foods, and finding himself back in Georgia! We'll talk about the challenges of operating a large food manufacturing company during Covid, the many precautions they had to take to prevent down time, the crazy logistics they are still dealing with when supply chain disruptions, ingredient shortages and rapid inflation occur. And we'll talk about how Steve and his family were actually "lured to the lake" many years ago, fell in love with the area, purchased a lot in Great Waters, but didn't actually build their home here until just a couple of years ago. And, with their son attending college at the University of Georgia, we will certainly talk about the UGA football team, recently joining the short list of back-to-back National Champions and the possibly of making it three! Indeed, Go Dawgs!! In every life, whether of your own choosing, someone else's intervention or by God's leading you will experience events and or seasons on the waters of life where you cannot feel bottom and eventually you cannot see land. In these waters, not all vessels make it back home. Some capsize, other travelers settle on a far away land forgetting where they came from, and others just seem to simply vanish into thin air. But there are others, THERE ARE OTHERS, who travel there, do business, see the works of the Lord, stare death in the face and come out rejoicing, proclaiming the goodness of God and the power of HIS wonderful works.
Russell (88) and Shirley (87) are living the retirement dream in the gated community of Great Waters on Georgia's Lake Oconee—until Russell is found decapitated in his garage and Shirley is located days later floating in the lake. Years later, investigators still can find no motive or suspects in this bizarre murder mystery. Psalm 62:1-7 1 I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. 3 So many enemies against one man— all of them trying to kill me. To them I'm just a broken-down wall or a tottering fence. 4 They plan to topple me from my high position. They delight in telling lies about me. They praise me to my face but curse me in their hearts. Interlude 5 Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. 7 My victory and honor come from God alone.

Psalms 107: 19-20 (KJV) reads, “then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distress; he sent his word, and he healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” In today's message, Rev Kodwo Orleans-Lindsay teaches us to, “Attempt to do Great Business in Great Waters.” Don't be in the business of being superficial. A superficial relationship leads to nowhere. When you love God deeply, what you have becomes His and what he has becomes yours. By having a deep relationship with the Lord, you can cry out to the Lord in trouble, and he will deliver you. This is not the end, the Lord still needs to heal you from the wounds through His word, which is what brings you healing. When the Lord answers your cry, don't sit back, and think that is it. Make sure to listen to God and apply preventative maintenance by engaging in His word.

In this episode we go over Chapter 3:19-29 of The Book of Remembrance. Here we talk about the third day of the creation, and what that means to your call and ministry in Jesus Christ. From the Book of Remembrance:"And Elohim, said unto the Only Begotten and Michael: Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place. And they, the gods, under the direction of YHVH and Michael ordered, saying: Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place; and it was so. 21 And Elohim said: Let there be dry land, yea and let the earth come up dry; and it was so as they ordered in the name of the Only Begotten. And Elohim called the dry land Earth and the gathering together of the waters called He the Sea. And the gods too pronounced the dry land earth; and the gathering together of the waters, pronounced they, Great Waters; and the gods saw that they were obeyed. And Elohim saw that all things which had been made were good. And Elohim said: Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, the fruit tree yielding fruit, after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed should be in itself upon the earth. And the gods organized the earth to bring forth grass from its own seed, and the herb to bring forth herb from its own seed, yielding seed after his kind; and they caused the earth to bring forth the tree from its own seed, yielding fruit, whose seed could only bring forth the same in itself, after his kind. And it came to pass that they numbered the days; from the evening until the morning they called night; and it came to pass, from the morning until the evening they called day; and it was the third time. And the evening and the morning were, by the reckoning of time by the gods, the third day." It’s Victory Monday at the Shotgun Start and Brendan provides a short riposte after a weekend of attacks on his rotisserie chicken comments before celebrating a ride on the Baker rollercoaster. The golf talk starts with the Italian Open, where 38-going-on-58 Ross McGowan slapped it all over the place (and around the power lines) but managed to sneak out a win some 11 years after his first Euro Tour title. Then they transition to the LPGA, which leads to a short side discussion on pontoon boats or “tooning” as Andy calls it, and Ally McDonald’s first win at Great Waters. Finally, there’s the Zozo Championship. They discuss Patrick Cantlay’s great final round, the design thought that goes into how many waterfalls you should put on a hole and why you’d stop at 14, the maintenance of said waterfalls and pools, the Geronimo Hex on shaky JT, Phil’s game not traveling down from the Senior circuit, and Tiger’s disconcerting tee-to-green game. In news, they hit on Bryson carrying the ball 400 yards and the Champions Dinner being on for this year.

Deborah Cramer spoke at the College of Charleston's School of Sciences and Mathematics about the dependence of all life on the sea. Nobel Prize winner Al Gore wrote of Deborah Cramer's previous book "Great Waters," "I urge everyone to read this book, pass on its teachings, and act on its message." This book was released as the official companion volume to The Smithsonian's new, permanent Sant Ocean Hall at the National Museum of Natural History.
The Pancatattva Ritual is an ancient ritual known in India whose goal is the transformation of substances into higher energies. Panca is a Sanskrit word that means five, and tattva is a Sanskrit word that means truth, suchness, true being; We understand that a tattva is a vibration of the Ether, which in its place is a transformation or vibration of Prana or Solar Light. Pancatattva refers to five vibrations or five types of energy, harnessed by those who want to merge into the highest forces of the universe. Lecture quote: "From the point of view of Gnosis, in fact, in any real spiritual tradition, we understand that everything that exists has its origin in the womb of the Divine Mother. That womb is a vastness, an emptiness we call the Akash or Akasha. It is a primordial substance, but it is also not a substance. You could say it is “undifferentiated matter,” but it is before matter. It is called Mulaprakriti, which is the great womb of Divine Mother space, and from that womb arises everything that exists, everything that manifests. So, in synthesis, we are saying that all atoms, all matter, all energy in its root is derived from this womb. The womb of the Divine Mother space is symbolized in the Book of Genesis as the primordial waters. Likewise, in many other traditions we have the Great Ocean or the Great Waters from which life emerges; and you have this tradition in Hinduism and in various traditions in central and South America. Those waters are feminine and they are the raw material or the raw source of all manifestation." Read the lecture transcription.
