In this episode of the Digital Warfighting Series with CENTCOM, the focus is on the digital aspect of partnered operations, particularly exploring international components. Lieutenant Colonel Tuni Massey, a British Army Officer embedded within the US Central Command's J6 branch, discusses the role of the Collaborative Partner Environment (CPE) in facilitating information sharing among coalition partners. Through CPE, CENTCOM aims to revolutionize data exchange and collaboration, breaking down barriers that traditionally hindered rapid information sharing in military operations. The conversation delves into the challenges of traditional networking, the importance of security in data sharing, and the transformative potential of CPE in enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.Key Takeaways:1. CPE enables rapid establishment of information sharing networks, reducing setup time from months to minutes, thus enhancing operational agility.2. Unlike traditional networking, CPE operates on a zero-trust architecture, ensuring data security by controlling access at the object level.3. The adoption of CPE necessitates a cultural shift, with users assuming greater responsibility for data tagging and sharing.4. CPE's impact extends beyond headquarters operations, providing real-time information exchange capabilities to field commanders, thereby enhancing decision-making efficiency.5. The development of CPE reflects CENTCOM's leadership in digital transformation within the military, with potential applications across other combatant commands and international partnerships.

In loving memory of Alison Whybrow, co-founder of the Climate Coaching Alliance. This episode is dedicated to Alison, for being an inspiring, kind, loving, generous and courageous role model. Her passion for our living Earth is an important legacy which she has left behind to shape how coaching can transform the ecological crisis through regeneration. In this episode we explore ‘How do coaches work with nature?' with Professor Peter Hawkins, Anna-Marie Watson, Karen Finn and Elsa Valdivielso Martínez. We discuss how the growing interest in bringing the natural world into our coaching conversations is impacting coaching by asking: Is coaching with nature the latest fad? What do we mean by ‘coaching with nature'? Why are we drawn as coaches and coachees to working with nature? What does it mean to be a student of nature as a coach? His final two years were spent working with the United Kingdom Special Forces in London, England.  "People are capable of more than they think" was the starting ethos, and from that belief, Green Beret Fitness was born. The methods and tactics used in Green Beret Fitness Events are selected to take everyday warriors to their physical and mental limits. Teamwork plays a critical role in the military and it is no different in our events.  Gregg wanted events that were different. He wanted them to be hard. He's been a keynote speaker and run change and leadership programs for over twenty years working with the public and private sector and international business schools. He's one of the most fortunate people to be alive you're likely to meet. His exploits have been covered in a Discovery documentary I Shouldn't Be Alive. Chris is a former British Army Officer with three year's operational experience who left to work for a charity clearing landmines. He's survived being taken prisoner in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge (one of the most brutal terror groups in history) and negotiated his release and that of two colleagues from threatened execution. In 1995 he was blown up in a supposedly safe area of a minefield in remote East Africa losing an arm and a leg (ironically doing one of the least dangerous things he did). He survived initially because he treated himself. About fourteen hours after injury he arrived in South Africa where doctors say they'd never seen anyone live with such a small amount of blood. He recovered four times faster than expected and in 1996; within a year of leaving hospital ran the London Marathon, raised significant sums to help disabled people in the developing world and successfully completed a full time Master's-Degree in human behaviour. Chris taught himself to run and is thought to be the world's first amputee ultra-distance runner after completing the Marathon De Sables in 1997. He's run the world's toughest ultra-marathons and most recently the Badwater Death Valley 135 mile ultra. He's led numerous teams to complete rigorous challenges ranging from climbing mountains to cycling the length of Cambodia. His final appointment was as Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe.    James recently took up the appointment of Lead Senior Mentor for NATO Allied Command Operations in January 2021, where along with the The Senior Mentors, he provides high-level coaching, advice and support to NATO Commanders. This is a truly fascinating episode not least because James' experience ranges from leading 11 soldier soldiers and 3 tanks to 10's of thousands of troops and having influence over millions in his final role. We unpack leadership transitions, operating in a VUCA world, discipline, high performing teams and the importance of happiness, which I didn't expect a retired General to mention! Today on The Best Version of You podcast we are joined by Darren Hardy, a former British Army Officer and now the CEO of Fortitude Front . A leadership training company, which specialises in Mental Resilience. Darren Hardy was developed as a leader during his 15 years' Service in the British Army, where from joining as a Soldier in 2003, Darren stood out as a natural leader. As an athlete he became a Physical Training Instructor and it was from here he was selected to go through Officer training at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. On completion of the 44 week arduous leadership course, Darren received the Queen's Commission and, as an Officer, took his troops all over the world, developing himself and others in a leadership capacity - often in life threatening and extremely testing environments. At the age of 31 Darren's career was brought to an end through suffering physical and mental injuries during the Iraq war. His PTSD was dormant and came about totally unexpectedly whilst dealing with a severely burnt casualty on exercise in Canada. On the road to recovery Darren had to focus on becoming mentally resilient to match his physical prowess and it is the fusion of the two (mental and physical) that sets Darren's leadership apart – he went on to become a Gold Medallist and record breaker representing Team UK in the Warrior Games 2018 in the 100m and 200m sprint. As Darren was focusing on his own recovery he was troubled to learn of the 71 Veteran suicides in 2018. Although Darren recovered successfully, the system was failing so many. Why were so many being failed? Where was the system letting people down? Darren's research identified that where this challenge was faced by the British Military, there was a greater, shared challenge for corporate industries. Darren created Fortitude Front to fill these gaps. His desire to change lives in all industries came from his own personal experiences overcoming physical and mental injuries through multiple coping strategies. Darren is a widely celebrated expert in Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). Mission Statement: To CHANGE negative organisational cultures surrounding mental health and INSPIRE others to speak out by DEVELOPING leaders and communication strategy with partners in industry. Our guest this episode of the Nonprofit Leaders Network Podcast series is Mark Clark, CEO of Generations for Peace, the leading global non-profit peace building organization, which he joined in 2011. Mark has been a corporate lawyer and served as a British Army Officer, and his diverse experience includes humanitarian and emergency relief work, sustainable development, youth leadership, post conflict transition and democratic governance. Generations for Peace is dedicated to sustainable conflict transformation at the grassroots level, and empowers volunteer leaders of youth to promote active tolerance and responsible citizenship in communities experiencing different forms of conflict and violence across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. Here are some of the highlights from our wide ranging discussion – Permanent Change Requires Long-Term Commitment Peace building is a long-term process. It needs long-term commitment by us to the volunteers we are supporting and to their communities. Over the last eight years we have trained just under 8,900 volunteers with an average age of between 25 and 35. We want to be working in communities with them for many years, and to really see a deep transformation of the conflict dynamics in any particular case, and be able to seize emergent opportunities for progress as they arise, year-by-year. The Adaptive Change Process We focus is on where we can start to build relationships via our youth leaders, knowing that their influence may be small at the beginning. Starting with a focus of just moving from A to B, then B to C and so on, adapting to change as we go. We use the adaptive process of gaining trust, gaining acceptance, and gradually rolling out different forms of activities to allow our volunteers to really gain access to people throughout the chain of influence in their locations. Finding Funding for Non-Definite Processes Requires Education Our adaptive, step-by-step approach means that we have to make a big effort to educate our donors. We have to have evidence of the impact our actions are having. Are they sustainable, are they cost effective? With those big questions in mind, we devote a lot of energy into our monitoring and evaluation; of the people running programs, direct participants and also the wider community who are touched or impacted by those directly involved. That depth and breadth of review gives much richer, more compelling data and evidence. Being Adaptable Means No Mistakes (Just Learning Experiences) We have an organizational culture where making mistakes is okay. To learn from those mistakes we include in our program cycles space for learning and reflection. If you can build that into your routines and the way your teams work, then you have the opportunity to turn what may seem to be mistakes into, probably, the most valuable learning that will drive your innovation and implementation. The stigma of mental health often prevents those who are unwell, from reaching out for the help and support they so desperately need and deserve. We invited Plymouth's newly-elected MP, Johnny Mercer, to tell us about his crusade to stamp out the stigma of mental health and to improve services for veterans. Some questions we ask: What it's like to be an MP? Where Johnny's passion for mental health awareness comes from? How we'll smash the stigma of mental health? Whether mental health is a priority for the current government? Want to learn more about Johnny? Here you go: Johnny Mercer is the Conservative MP for Plymouth, Moor View. Born in Kent and raised with his seven siblings by two working parents, Johnny learned early on in his life the vital qualities of teamwork, dedication and perseverance. He achieved ‘average’ results at school, where he spent more time on the sports field than in the classroom. Being part of a large working family and contributing to the family home meant that employment and not university beckoned, and Johnny worked as an intern in the financial sector of the City of London. From a military family, and with three brothers in the Royal Navy, Johnny could only resist the allure of the military for so long. He elected for the Army over the Royal Navy and subsequently graduated from Sandhurst in 2002. A former British Army Officer, he served from the tactical to the strategic level throughout a career across the globe, including multiple combat operations. The British military pull out from Afghanistan will soon be completed. Digesting the painful lessons from a 12-year deployment will take a whole lot longer. Hardtalk speaks to Richard Streatfeild, a former infantry officer in Helmand during some of the toughest fighting with the Taliban. Back then he kept an upbeat audio diary of life on the frontline; now he takes a more jaundiced view of Britain's Afghan commitment.
