This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit bequranic.substack.comAssalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh!Welcome to Day 13 of the BeQuranic 2025 New Year Challenge! We're moving forward in our journey through Surah Al-Mulk, studying one ayah every day this month. By the end of January, inshaAllah, we'll have completed not just reading and reflecting on, but also memorising this profound surah that the Prophet ﷺ described as our protector from the torment of the grave.Remember, it's not just about reciting for the hasanat, which is wonderful—10 rewards for every letter! But the deeper goal is to internalise its meaning, reflect on its wisdom, and let it shape our lives to be more Quranic. So let's dive into ayah 13 today:“And conceal your speech or publicise it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the chests.”Let's break this down. In this ayah, Allah is saying it doesn't matter if you whisper your words, shout them out loud, or keep your thoughts locked in your heart—Allah knows. Everything. Even what's buried deep within us.Now, here's something fascinating. Ibn Abbas narrated the reason for the revelation of this ayah. Some of the Quraysh leaders were secretly plotting against the Prophet ﷺ, and one of them said, “Keep your voices low so Muhammad's God doesn't hear us.” SubhanAllah! And Allah responded with this ayah, revealing their hidden conversation to the Prophet ﷺ.BeQuranic is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. It's a powerful reminder that nothing—absolutely nothing—is hidden from Allah. He knows not only what we say but also what we think, what we intend, and even the whispers of doubt in our hearts. This ayah is a wake-up call, but it's also deeply comforting. It's a warning for those who think they can hide their evil intentions from Allah. But for believers, it's a source of hope. Why? Because Allah knows our struggles. He knows our silent duas, the pain we can't put into words, and the effort we make to turn away from sin—even when no one else sees it.

Al-Adiyat or The War Horses which run swiftly[1] (Arabic: العاديات, al-ʿādiyāt, also known as "The Courser, The Chargers") is the 100th chapter (sūrah) of the Qur'an, with 11 āyāt or verses. Regarding the timing and contextual background of the revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl), it is an earlier "Meccan surah", which means it is believed to have been revealed in Mecca, rather than later in Medina Summary 1-6 Oaths that man is ungrateful to his God 7-8 Man loves the things of this world 9-11 Man's secret thoughts shall be discovered in the judgment-day [2] A one liner theme of surah al-adiyat would read that this surah gives an example that horses are more grateful to their owners than men are to their Rabb (Allah).[3] First five ayaat of the surah consist of an oath as a metaphor enforcing the lesson.[4] They describe a scene of horses charging, panting, producing sparks by their hooves, raiding at the time of dawn, stirring up the cloud of dust and arriving a gathering. The substantive proposition is in verses 6-8 that Man is ungrateful to his Lord and himself is a witness to it and he is immoderate in the love of worldly good.[5] The last three ayaat conclude the surah with a rhetorical question that Does the man not know about the time when contents of the graves will be resurrected and that which is in men's breasts shall be brought to light on that Day their Sustainer will show that He has always been fully aware of them Period of revelation Whether this Surah Al-Adiyat is a Makki or a Madani is disputed. But the subject matter of the Surah and its style clearly indicate that it is not only Makki, but was revealed in the early stage of Makkan period.[3] Abdullah bin Masud, Jabir, Hasan Basri, Ikrimah, and Ata say that it is Makki. Anas bin Malik, and Qatadah say that it is Madani; and from Ibn Abbas two views have been reported, first that it is a Makki Surah, and second that it is Madani. But the subject matter of the Surah and its style clearly indicate that it is not only Makki but was revealed in the earliest stage of Makkah. So the surah is considered to be Meccan conclusively.[6] Hadith According to hadith this surah is recommended in Maghrib prayer. Hisham ibn Urwah said that his father used to recite the surahs like the Al-Adiyat is recited. Abu Dawud said: This indicates that those (traditions indicating long surahs) are abrogated, and this is more sound tradition.[7]

Nitekim Hz. Peygamber (s.a.s) "Lezzetleri (tadları) mağlub eden, yok eden şeyi (yani ölümü) çokça hatırlayın" buyurmuştur. Hz. Peygamber, (s.a.s) ashabına birisini sordu. Onlar da o kişiyi övüp, onu hayırla yâd ettiler. Hz. Peygamber (s.a.s) de, "Onun ölümü hatırlaması nasıldı?" diye sordu. Onlar, "Az idi" diye cevap verdiler. Bunun üzerine o, "Öyle ise o sizin dediğiniz gibi değildi" buyurmuştur.

Al-Bayyina or The Evidence  البينة "The Clear Proof" is the 98th Chapter of the Qur'an, with 8 or verses[1] The Surah is so designated after the word al-bayyinah occurring at the end of the first and fourth verses Summary 1-2 The idolaters stagger at the revelations of the Quran 3-4 Jews and Christians (a.k.a. "the People of the Book") dispute among themselves since the advent of Muhammad and his new religion 5 Nonbelievers of all classes threatened with divine judgments 6 Those who disbelieve, from the People of the Book, and polytheists are the worst of all creatures, destined for hell[2] 7-8 'Those who believed and performed righteous deeds' are “the best of creatures”; their reward is heaven[3] Tafseer By Abul A'la Maududi The Surah is so designated after the word al-bayyinah occurring at the end of the first verse. Period of RevelationWhere it was revealed, at Makkah or Madinah, is also disputed. Some commentators say it is a Makki revelation according to most scholars; others say it is a Madani revelation according to most scholars. Ibn Az Zubair and Ata bin Yasar hold the view that it is Madani. Ibn Abbas and Qatadah are reported to have held two views, first that it is Makki, second that it is Madani. As for its contents, there is nothing in it to indicate whether it was revealed at Makkah or at Madinah. Theme and Subject MatterIts having been placed after Surahs Al-Alaq and Al-Qadr in the arrangement of the Quran is very meaningful. Surah Al-Alaq contains the very first revelation, while Surah Al-Qadr shows as to when it was revealed, and in this Surah it has been explained why it was necessary to send a Messenger along with this Holy Book.First of all the need of sending a Messenger has been explained, saying: The people of the world, be they from among the followers of the earlier scriptures or from among the idolaters, could not possibly be freed from their state of unbelief, until a Messenger was sent whose appearance by itself should be a clear proof of his apostleship, and he should present the Book of God before the people in its original, pristine form, which should be free from every mixture of falsehood corrupting the earlier Divine Books; and which should comprise sound teachings. Then, about the errors of the followers of the earlier Books it has been said that the cause of their straying into different creeds was not that Allah had not provided any guidance to them, but they strayed only after a clear statement of the Right Creed had come to them. From this it automatically follows that they themselves were responsible for their error and deviation. Now, if even after the coming of the clear statement through this Messenger, they continued to stray, their responsibility would further increase. In this very connection, it has been stated that the Prophets who came from Allah and the, Books sent down by Him, did not enjoin anything but that the way of sincere and true service to Allah be adopted, apart from all other ways, no one else's worship, service or obedience be mixed with His, the salat be established and the zakat be paid. This same has been the true religion since ever. From this also it automatically follows that the followers of the earlier scriptures, straying from this true religion, have added extraneous things to it, which are false, and Allah's this Messenger has come to invite them back to, the same original faith. In conclusion, it has been pointed out clearly that the followers of the earlier Books and the idolaters who would refuse to acknowledge this Messenger are the worst of creatures: their punishment is an everlasting Hell; and the people who would believe and act righteously, and would spend life in the world in awe of God, are the best of creatures: their reward is eternal Paradise wherein they will live for ever. Allah became well pleased with them and they became well pleased with Allah

Al-Ghāshiyah (Arabic: الغاشية, "The Overwhelming", "The Pall") is the 88th chapter (surah) of the Qur'an, with 26 ayat or verses. The surah's topics are Paradise, Hell and the miracle of the creation of all things by God. This surah refers to three broad-ranging topics. First, God describes the difference between good and evil paths that an individual can take and the consequence of each path. God then clarifies their destiny and describes what hell would be like for the non-believers. The second theme mentions the creations God has made, referring to the sky, the earth, and the mountains. Lastly, in verses 21–22, God gives a direct message to Muhammad and tells him, "So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. You are not over them a controller."[1] Summary 1-3 The terrible day of judgment 4-7 Description of the torments of hell 8-16 The joyful state of the Muslims on the judgment-day 17-20 God manifests himself in his works 21-22 Muhammad only to warn, not to rule over, the infidels 23-26 God will himself punish the unbelievers[2] Hadith Al-Dahhak b. Qais asked al-Nu'man b. Bashir: What did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recite on Friday after reciting the Surah Al-Jumua (62). He replied: He used to recite, "Had the story of overwhelming event reached you?" (Al-Ghashiyah).[3][4][5][6][7] Samra ibn Jundab narrated that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite in the Friday prayer: "Glorify the name of your most high Lord" (Surah 87) and Has the story of the overwhelming event reached you? (Al-Ghashiyah).[8][9][10][11] Abu Bakr bin An-Nadr said: We were in At-Taff with Anas, and he led them in praying Zuhr. When he had finished, he said: ''I prayed Zuhr with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he recited two surahs for us in the two rak'ahs: 'Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High' (Quran 87) and 'Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming?"' (Al-Ghashiyah).[12] It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite in the Eid prayers ''Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High." (Surah 87) and "Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming?" Al-Aʻlā (Arabic: الأعلى, lit. 'The Most High, Glory To Your Lord In The Highest') is the eighty-seventh chapter (surah) of the Qur'an, with 19 ayat or verses. Al-A'la describes the Islamic view of existence, the Oneness of Allah, and Divine revelation, additionally mentioning rewards and punishments. Mankind often hides things from each other and from themselves as well. The sura reminds its readers that Allah knows the things that are declared and things that lie hidden. The final verse of this Sura affirms that a similar message was also revealed to Abraham and Moses in the scriptures.[1] This sura is part of the series of Al-Musabbihat as it begins with the glorification of Allah. This is a Makkan surah. The first 7 Āyāt (verses) were revealed during the first years of Makkan life. One of the companions of Ali said that he prayed twenty consecutive nights behind him and he did not recite any Surah, except Surah A'la. Surat Al-A'lā is among the most recited suras in the Jummah and Witr prayers. Summary 1-5 God, the Most High, praised for his works 6-9 God promises to help Muhammad to proclaim the Quran 10-11 The God-fearing only shall be admonished 12-15 The wicked shall be punished, but the righteous shall be blessed 16-17 Men choose the present life rather than the life to come 18-19 The books of Abraham and Moses attest the Quran [2] Hadith Ibn ‘Abbas (d.687) narrated: The Prophet recited in Witr: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High (Al-Ala).[3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Ibn ‘Abbas reported; when the prophet recited: "Glorify the name of thy Lord, the Most High."(Al-Ala) He would say: "Glory be to Allah, the most High".[10] Samra ibn Jundab narrated that: The Messenger of Allah used to recite in the Friday prayer: "Glorify the name of your most high Lord" (Al-Ala) and Has the story of the overwhelming event reached you? (Al-Ghashiyah). [11][12][13][14] It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet used to recite in the ‘Eid prayers "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High." (Al-Ala) and “Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming?” (Al-Ghashiyah).[15][16][17][18] It was narrated from al-Nu'man b. Bashir that: The Messenger of Allah used to recite on the two Eid prayers and on Jumu'ah: "Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High" (Al-Ala) and "Has there come to you the narration of The Overwhelming?"(Al-Ghashiyah) Sometimes the two ('Eid and Jumu'ah) occurred on the same day, and he would recite them (these two Surahs).[19][20][21] It was narrated that Imran ibn Husain said: "The Prophet prayed Zuhr and a man behind him recited: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High. When he had finished praying, he said: 'Who recited: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High?" (Al-Ala) A man said: 'I did.' He said: 'I realized that some of you were disputing with me over it'".[22][23] Abu Bakr bin An-Nadr said: "We were in At-Taff with Anas, and he led them in praying Zuhr. When he had finished, he said: 'I prayed Zuhr with the Messenger of Allah and he recited two surahs for us in the two rak'ahs: "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High' (Al-Ala) and 'Has there come to you the narration of the over-whelming?'" (Al-Ghashiyah). [24] It was narrated that Jabir said: "Muadh stood up and prayed Isha', and made it lengthy. The Prophet said: 'Do you want to cause hardship to the people, O Mu'adh; do you want to cause hardship to the people O Mu'adh? Why didn't you recite Glorify the Name of your Lord Most High (Al-Ala) or Ad-Dhuha or; When the heaven is cleft asunder?"[25][26] Narrated Uqbah ibn Amir: “When the following was revealed: ‘So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great',[69:52] the Messenger of Allah said to us: ‘Say this in your Ruku'.' And when the following was revealed: ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High.'[87:1] the Messenger of Allah said to us: ‘Say this in your prostrations.'”[27]

Practical tips derived from this reflection highlight personal responsibility in determining one's spiritual destiny, the infinite potential of humans for spiritual ascent, and the significance of complete faith accompanied by righteous deeds. Recognizing Imam Ali's (peace be upon him) wilayah is not merely a historical matter but a fundamental aspect of Islamic faith, shaping believers' spiritual journey and positioning them on the path towards Paradise. As Muslims, our commitment to Islam requires wholehearted acceptance of its teachings and leaders, particularly Imam Ali (peace be upon him). By deepening our understanding of Islam and embracing his teachings, we enrich our spiritual journey and secure our place in the Hereafter.

It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas that the Messenger of Allah PBUH said: "When my Lord Dhul-Jalal called me to Ascension, a voice came: O Muhammad! . I said: I am present, I am present my Lord. Then Allah revealed to me: O Muhammad! Do you know that there was a disagreement between Mullah Aala on some matter? I said: Oh my God! I don't know about it. Allah Almighty said: O Muhammad! Did you take any of the men after you as your representative, minister, brother, and executor? I said: Oh my Lord! Who should I choose? So please choose for me. Allah Almighty revealed to me: O Muhammad! I have chosen Ali among the men for this I said: Oh my Allah! He is my cousin. The revelation was revealed: O Muhammad! Yes, Ali will be your inheritor after you, and the inheritor of your knowledge, and on the Day of Resurrection, your Flag Bearer of Lawaii Hamd), and he will be the steward of your cistern (Kawsar), and he will quench the thirst of the believer who comes from your Ummah Then Allah revealed the revelation: O Muhammad! I have sworn by my Nafs that those who have hatred and enmity against you, your family and your pure offspring will never be able to drink water from this reservoir. And O Muhammad! I say the absolute truth that I will enter all your ummah into Paradise, only that person who refuses to go to heaven will be left alone. I said: Oh my God! How can anyone refuse to go to heaven? Allah revealed the revelation again: O Muhammad! I have chosen you from among My creations and chosen a successor after you and given him a status second to you that Aaron had from Moses, but that there will be no prophet after you. I have made his love in your heart. And have made him the father of your children. Therefore, after you, he has the same right over your ummah that you have over your ummah during your life. Now whoever denied his right, he denied your right, whoever denied friendship and love with him, he denied friendship and love with you, and whoever denied your friendship and love, then understand, he refused to go to heaven. Seeing this grace of Allah, I immediately fell into prostration. Then a preacher said O Muhammad! Raise your head in prostration and you will get what you ask for. I said: Oh my Allah! After me, gather all my Ummah on Wilayat Ali, so that on the Day of Resurrection, they will all come to me on the Hauz Kausar. Allah revealed the revelation: O Muhammad, I have already decided about my servants before their creation and this decision of mine will remain in force. I will destroy as many of them as I will and I will guide whom as many as I want. And I have given your knowledge to Ali after you. And after you, among your people and your nation, made him your minister and your caliph. And this is my absolute decision: that he who harbors enmity with them and rejects their guardianship after you will not enter Paradise. Who held grudge against them, he held a grudge against me. He who held enmity with them, he held enmity with you, and who held a grudge against you, he held enmity with me. He who loved them, he loved you, he who loved you, he loved me. I gave them the privilege that eleven Mahdi will be born from their bones, all of them will be from your descendants, from the progeny of Fatima. The last of these eleven will be followed by Isa bin Maryam. He will fill the earth with justice just as would be filled with injustice. Through him, the people suffering from death will be saved, the people trapped in error will be guided. Blind people will get sight through him, and the sick will be healed.

He mentions two stories of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that illustrate dedication to pursuing sacred knowledge and its virtue. This khutba is especially relevant for these paradoxical times that are known as the “Age of Information” but are, in reality, bereft of true knowledge.

In today's time, it can often feel and sound as if everyone is speaking at the exact same time. With so many people vying for our attention at one time, even in the arena of seeking Islamic knowledge, it's very easy to feel overwhelmed; and, have our needs, goals, and dreams overshadowed. We have to learn how to take a moment for ourselves and silence the noise. Ikrima reported Ibn ‘Abbas as saying, “Talk to the people once every Friday, but if you object, then twice, and if you want more, then three times, but do not weary the people with this Qur'an. And do not let me find you coming to the people when they are talking about their concerns, interrupting them in their talk by addressing them, and so wearying them. Keep silent, and when they request you, talk to them at a time when they want it. Look out for rhymed prose in supplications and avoid it, for I know that God's messenger and his companions did not use it.” Bukhari transmitted it.
