Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhAlhamdulillah, welcome to Be Quranic. This is the blessed month of Ramadan—Ramadan Mubarak to everyone! May Allah bless us in this month with a fasting full of Iman and sincerity, leading to taqwa and forgiveness from Him.The Be Quranic Taraweeh ApproachEach Ramadan, I choose one surah as my pet surah to study and recite throughout the month in Taraweeh.I lead Taraweeh with the Qaswa community here in Perth, and our approach may differ slightly from other places. We select one surah and deeply study it throughout the month. Each night before Taraweeh, we have a short tafsir session, and the ayat covered in tafsir are then recited in salah. This means we repeat the same ayat for several nights—allowing us to develop a deeper connection with the Qur'an.This method helps us internalise the surah and absorb its meanings so that when we hear the recitation in prayer, it resonates more deeply with us.BeQuranic is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.A Journey Through Past RamadansWe started this approach in 2019 with Surah Al-Baqarah.In 2020, due to COVID restrictions, we opted for Surah Al-Kahf, keeping things shorter and simpler.By 2021, restrictions were still fluctuating, so we went through Juz Amma, studying and repeating it in our Taraweeh prayers. Then, in 2022, as things returned to normal, we resumed our original format with Surah Ali 'Imran, followed by Surah An-Nisa in 2023, and Surah Al-Ma'idah in 2024.This year, 2025, our chosen surah is Surah Al-An'am.The Purpose of This ApproachThis is not just an intellectual tafsir—it is a practical approach. We extract real-life lessons from the surah, which we can turn into action points for the next 11 months. Each Ramadan, we add a new checklist of Qur'anic principles to live by, so that over the years, we gradually build our character through the Qur'an.This way, we don't just read or listen to the Qur'an—we live by it.Introduction to Makki SurahsWhat Makes a Surah Makki? The division of Makki and Madani Surahs is not based on geography—it is based on time.• Makki Surahs were revealed before Hijrah when the Prophet ﷺ was based in Makkah.• Madani Surahs were revealed after Hijrah, even if they were revealed outside of Madinah. For example:• Surah An-Nasr (إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ) was revealed in Makkah but is still a Madani Surah because it was revealed after the migration.• Surah Al-Fath (إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا) was revealed near Hudaybiyyah, closer to Makkah than Madinah, yet it's a Madani Surah. So, the division is based on period, not place.BeQuranic is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. What Makes Makki Surahs Unique? The 13 years in Makkah were the toughest years for the early Muslims. They were a minority, oppressed, and struggling against an overwhelming opposition.During this time, there were no major laws—no fasting, no zakah, no hijab. Even the five daily prayers were only fully established towards the end of the Makkan period. So, what was the focus of Makki Surahs?

- The Prophet (s) introduced his Ahlul Bayt using examples from past nations, including comparing them to the Ark of Nūḥ and the Door of Forgiveness in the story of Prophet Mūsa and Bani Isrā'il. - The hadith about the Door of Forgiveness states: *“The likeness of my Ahlul Bayt is the simile of the Door of Forgiveness of Bani Isrā'il: whoever enters it, his sins will be forgiven.”* - The authenticity of this hadith is established by multiple sources, including Ibn Ḥajar al-Makki, who mentions its transmission through numerous routes that strengthen each other. - In the Qur'ān, Allah commanded Bani Isrā'il to enter the gate of a town with humility, seek forgiveness, and promised them forgiveness and increased blessings if they complied. - The Prophet (s) equated the Ahlul Bayt to this Door of Forgiveness, indicating that they are a means to Allah's mercy and blessings. - Two conditions are required: showing humility toward the Ahlul Bayt and seeking forgiveness through them. - This simile implies the infallibility of the Ahlul Bayt, as only those pure from sins can be a means of purification for others. - The Prophet (s) described Imam ‘Ali as the Door of Forgiveness, emphasizing that entering it signifies faith, while leaving it signifies disbelief. - Love, guidance, and following Imam ‘Ali are keys to forgiveness, blessings, and salvation. - Fāṭimah is not only a part of the Ahlul Bayt but is their central figure, as highlighted in the incident of kisā. - Fāṭimah is also likened to the Door of Forgiveness and Allah's bounties. - The unjust among Bani Isrā'il altered Allah's commands and faced divine punishment. A similar prediction applies to some Muslims who wronged the Ahlul Bayt. - Despite the symbolic reverence, some Muslims disrespected even the physical door of Fāṭimah.
Al-Adiyat or The War Horses which run swiftly[1] (Arabic: العاديات, al-ʿādiyāt, also known as "The Courser, The Chargers") is the 100th chapter (sūrah) of the Qur'an, with 11 āyāt or verses. Regarding the timing and contextual background of the revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl), it is an earlier "Meccan surah", which means it is believed to have been revealed in Mecca, rather than later in Medina Summary 1-6 Oaths that man is ungrateful to his God 7-8 Man loves the things of this world 9-11 Man's secret thoughts shall be discovered in the judgment-day [2] A one liner theme of surah al-adiyat would read that this surah gives an example that horses are more grateful to their owners than men are to their Rabb (Allah).[3] First five ayaat of the surah consist of an oath as a metaphor enforcing the lesson.[4] They describe a scene of horses charging, panting, producing sparks by their hooves, raiding at the time of dawn, stirring up the cloud of dust and arriving a gathering. The substantive proposition is in verses 6-8 that Man is ungrateful to his Lord and himself is a witness to it and he is immoderate in the love of worldly good.[5] The last three ayaat conclude the surah with a rhetorical question that Does the man not know about the time when contents of the graves will be resurrected and that which is in men's breasts shall be brought to light on that Day their Sustainer will show that He has always been fully aware of them Period of revelation Whether this Surah Al-Adiyat is a Makki or a Madani is disputed. But the subject matter of the Surah and its style clearly indicate that it is not only Makki, but was revealed in the early stage of Makkan period.[3] Abdullah bin Masud, Jabir, Hasan Basri, Ikrimah, and Ata say that it is Makki. Anas bin Malik, and Qatadah say that it is Madani; and from Ibn Abbas two views have been reported, first that it is a Makki Surah, and second that it is Madani. But the subject matter of the Surah and its style clearly indicate that it is not only Makki but was revealed in the earliest stage of Makkah. So the surah is considered to be Meccan conclusively.[6] Hadith According to hadith this surah is recommended in Maghrib prayer. Hisham ibn Urwah said that his father used to recite the surahs like the Al-Adiyat is recited. Abu Dawud said: This indicates that those (traditions indicating long surahs) are abrogated, and this is more sound tradition.[7]
Al-Bayyina or The Evidence البينة "The Clear Proof" is the 98th Chapter of the Qur'an, with 8 or verses[1] The Surah is so designated after the word al-bayyinah occurring at the end of the first and fourth verses Summary 1-2 The idolaters stagger at the revelations of the Quran 3-4 Jews and Christians (a.k.a. "the People of the Book") dispute among themselves since the advent of Muhammad and his new religion 5 Nonbelievers of all classes threatened with divine judgments 6 Those who disbelieve, from the People of the Book, and polytheists are the worst of all creatures, destined for hell[2] 7-8 'Those who believed and performed righteous deeds' are “the best of creatures”; their reward is heaven[3] Tafseer By Abul A'la Maududi The Surah is so designated after the word al-bayyinah occurring at the end of the first verse. Period of RevelationWhere it was revealed, at Makkah or Madinah, is also disputed. Some commentators say it is a Makki revelation according to most scholars; others say it is a Madani revelation according to most scholars. Ibn Az Zubair and Ata bin Yasar hold the view that it is Madani. Ibn Abbas and Qatadah are reported to have held two views, first that it is Makki, second that it is Madani. As for its contents, there is nothing in it to indicate whether it was revealed at Makkah or at Madinah. Theme and Subject MatterIts having been placed after Surahs Al-Alaq and Al-Qadr in the arrangement of the Quran is very meaningful. Surah Al-Alaq contains the very first revelation, while Surah Al-Qadr shows as to when it was revealed, and in this Surah it has been explained why it was necessary to send a Messenger along with this Holy Book.First of all the need of sending a Messenger has been explained, saying: The people of the world, be they from among the followers of the earlier scriptures or from among the idolaters, could not possibly be freed from their state of unbelief, until a Messenger was sent whose appearance by itself should be a clear proof of his apostleship, and he should present the Book of God before the people in its original, pristine form, which should be free from every mixture of falsehood corrupting the earlier Divine Books; and which should comprise sound teachings. Then, about the errors of the followers of the earlier Books it has been said that the cause of their straying into different creeds was not that Allah had not provided any guidance to them, but they strayed only after a clear statement of the Right Creed had come to them. From this it automatically follows that they themselves were responsible for their error and deviation. Now, if even after the coming of the clear statement through this Messenger, they continued to stray, their responsibility would further increase. In this very connection, it has been stated that the Prophets who came from Allah and the, Books sent down by Him, did not enjoin anything but that the way of sincere and true service to Allah be adopted, apart from all other ways, no one else's worship, service or obedience be mixed with His, the salat be established and the zakat be paid. This same has been the true religion since ever. From this also it automatically follows that the followers of the earlier scriptures, straying from this true religion, have added extraneous things to it, which are false, and Allah's this Messenger has come to invite them back to, the same original faith. In conclusion, it has been pointed out clearly that the followers of the earlier Books and the idolaters who would refuse to acknowledge this Messenger are the worst of creatures: their punishment is an everlasting Hell; and the people who would believe and act righteously, and would spend life in the world in awe of God, are the best of creatures: their reward is eternal Paradise wherein they will live for ever. Allah became well pleased with them and they became well pleased with Allah

At-Tur is the 52nd Surah of the Quran that has 49 verses and is in the 27th Juz. It is Makki and the 76th chapter revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). In the first verse, God swears by At-Tur (Mount Sinai), and hence the name of the Surah. Mount Sinai is a holy place that is in Palestine. Prophet Moses (AS) talked to God and received the revelation in that mountain. The name At-Tur is mentioned ten time in the Quran. According to Al-Mizan Exegesis of the Quran, the main theme of Surah At-Tur is warning those who show enmity to the truth. It cautions disbelievers about the divine punishment that awaits them on the Resurrection Day, stressing that the punishment is certain. In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. 1. By the Mount. 2. And a Book inscribed. 3. In a published scroll. 4. And the frequented House. 5. And the elevated roof. 6. And the seething sea. 7. The punishment of your Lord is coming. 8. There is nothing to avert it. 9. On the Day when the heaven sways in agitation. 10. And the mountains go into motion. 11. Woe on that Day to the deniers. 12. Those who play with speculation. 13. The Day when they are shoved into the Fire of Hell forcefully. 14. “This is the Fire which you used to deny. 15. Is this magic, or do you not see? 16. Burn in it. Whether you are patient, or impatient, it is the same for you. You are only being repaid for what you used to do.” 17. But the righteous will be amid gardens and bliss. 18. Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord has spared them the suffering of Hell. 19. Eat and drink happily, for what you used to do. 20. Relaxing on luxurious furnishings; and We will couple them with gorgeous spouses. 21. Those who believed, and their offspring followed them in faith—We will unite them with their offspring, and We will not deprive them of any of their works. Every person is hostage to what he has earned. 22. And We will supply them with fruit, and meat; such as they desire. 23. They will exchange therein a cup; wherein is neither harm, nor sin. 24. Serving them will be youths like hidden pearls. 25. And they will approach one another, inquiring. 26. They will say, “Before this, we were fearful for our families. 27. But God blessed us, and spared us the agony of the Fiery Winds. 28. Before this, we used to pray to Him. He is the Good, the Compassionate.” 29. So remind. By the grace of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman. 30. Or do they say, “A poet—we await for him a calamity of time”? 31. Say, “Go on waiting; I will be waiting with you.” 32. Or is it that their dreams compel them to this? Or are they aggressive people? 33. Or do they say, “He made it up”? Rather, they do not believe. 34. So let them produce a discourse like it, if they are truthful 35. Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators? 36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? In fact, they are not certain 37. Or do they possess the treasuries of your Lord? Or are they the controllers? 38. Or do they have a stairway by means of which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear proof 39. Or for Him the daughters, and for you the sons? 40. Or do you demand a payment from them, and they are burdened by debt? 41. Or do they know the future, and they are writing it down? 42. Or are they planning a conspiracy? The conspiracy will befall the disbelievers 43. Or do they have a god besides God? God transcends what they associate 44. Even if they were to see lumps of the sky falling down, they would say, “A mass of clouds. 45. So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be stunned 46. The Day when their ploys will avail them nothing; and they will not be helped 47. For those who do wrong, there is a punishment besides that; but most of them do not know 48. So patiently await the decision of your Lord, for you are before Our Eyes; and proclaim the praises of your Lord when you arise 49. And glorify Him during the night, and at the receding of the stars
