Our CEO, Berwick Mahdi Davenport, joins our Soul Focused Radio hosts to continue talking about innerwareness. Innerwareness is a Soul Focused Group term that we define as the way our first mind communicates with and directs our second mind. In this podcast M begins by exploring why he and a lot of other racial equity workers felt defeated. M spent years being a racial equity trainer and after all his hard work he felt like there was something missing from organizations and movements. He believes that the side effect to being social conscious is only being able to see the world's problems, and losing sight of our own self work. A big portion of this podcast consists of our hosts and M explaining how self work is not selfish. We are often socialized to believe that focusing on ourselves is a selfish act. We learn from our peers that taking the time to focus on ourselves makes us self centered, selfish, greedy, and egotistical. We want all of our listeners to know that putting yourself first is not selfish. Christin shares how she followed her innerwareness, and found herself lonely after doing all the work. Becoming spiritual conscious can feel lonely when you are the only one doing the work. However, we can demonstrate how integrating our social and spiritual consciousness can improve our way of life.Show Notes:2:08 Mahdi questions why social and spiritual consciousness are becoming so important6:06 M explains how becoming spiritual conscious can benefit all aspects of your life8:55 M and Christin explain how self work is not selfish14:26 M explores the idea of how we are socialized to be used18:54 Martin asks Christin and M to elaborate on being stuck in suffering25:38 M explains how negative thinking can impact our mind28:15 Our hosts and M discuss how the world tricks us into doubting ourselves34:16 Christin asks M to explain how we rid ourselves of conflict 38:34 Martin talks about how we can shift our focus to ourselves42:37 The podcast closes out with a discussion about the power of our imaginationsThe Soul Focused Group is a leadership development & consulting company for organizations that want to build stronger connections and create lasting solutions.More from The Soul Focused Group here:https://www.soulfocusedgroup.comhttps://www.facebook.com/TheSoulFocusedGroup/https://www.instagram.com/theSoulFocusedGroup/https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-soul-focused-group Learn about subconscious programming by signing up for our FREE eBook today!https://soulfocusedgroup.com/living-as-part-of-the-solution/ Check out our FREE monthly virtual event!https://soulfocusedgroup.com/strength-for-the-struggle/ Looking for Soul Focused gear? We often hear from Muslims that our ummah suffers from disunity on a local, national, and international level. Slight differences of opinion can cause major divisions. Our countries remain deeply divided between themselves and there is an impression that has consolidated that we will not be able to recover our position. This situation has led to despondency. Helplessness and in the extreme an acceptance of the status quo. But is this written? Is there anything we can do about this parlous situation? Have we come to the end of Muslim civilisation and are we now merely managing decline? Are we waiting for the Mahdi, a leader who will change our situation? Or is there anything we can do about our predicament? To help us understand the issues of unity and division from an Islamic perspective we have invited Shaykh Dr. Shuayb Wani. Dr. Shuayb Wani is the Director and Co-Founder of the Dār Al ‘Ilm Institute. He grew up in Indian-occupied Kashmir and started his quest to learn Islamic ‘Ulūm during his schooling years. He completed his foundational Islāmic Studies in India, and Al-Azhar University, Egypt. He devoted 10 years studying advanced Islāmic Studies specializing in Usūl al-Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) at the International Islamic University, Malaysia. He holds a Ph.D in : “The Legal Thought of Imam al-Shafi‘i” which was published in 2021. He has 20 years experience of teaching Islamic ulum. He lives in Istanbul with his family. In this podcast Martin Friedman sits down to discuss becoming powerful with Berwick Mahdi Davenport and Dustin Washington. Together the three men explore how individual power can create collective power. They have all found that when we are in our internal power we create healthy collective power. We have to see and acknowledge that we came into this world to participate with our power. Mahdi and Dustin also explore how we are programmed to believe and celebrate collective power over our own. Mahdi explains that many of us don't see our power because we don't discuss power until we are adults. Many of us grew up in households that did not discuss power and self empowerment. Dustin shares that as a child he felt shame and guilt when he would celebrate how powerful he felt. We have to move beyond this idea that we cannot be a powerful individual. In the second portion of this podcast our guests introduce The Soul Focused Power Summit. This summit was developed to help leaders recognize what is in their subconscious programming and reprogram their mind to believe in their power. We hope to see amazing leaders at the power summit to begin building human solidarity with us. On the first day of Ramadan 2023/1444, we introduce the theme of "Not Like the Other: Women in the Quran. In the Quran, when speaking about the lead-up to the birth of Maryam binte Imran we are told that her parents had made an oath to dedicate their child, whom they were expecting would be a boy, to be a servant in the temple. In Sūrah Ale Imran (3), Verse 36, Allah says: "Then when she delivered her [child Maryam (Mary)], she said: 'O my Lord! I have delivered a female child,' - and Allah knew better what she delivered, 'And the male (child she expected) could not be like the female (that Allah blessed her with), and I have named her Maryam (Mary), and I seek refuge with You (Allah) for her and for her offspring from Satan, the outcast.'" However as history would show, Maryam binte Imran would become an unparalleled woman in history, giving birth through a miraculous conception to one of the greatest Prophets, Isa ibn Maryam – a Prophet that will return at the end of time to assist Imam al-Mahdi. Unfortunately in our era, we have seen a radical shift in the roles of men and women in society. Yes at one level, we need to get away from stereotypes and cultural practices IF they are going against religion. However one of the downfalls of the rapid ‘progress' if you want to call it that, is the redefinition of what it means to be a woman. We live in an era in which many women feel that in order to be considered as ‘equal' to men, they should do and want to do everything men do in society. This is not only in the “West” but also the “East”. It is a global phenomenon that we must all be aware of. As an example, some of the topics which we will cover this month include: • Emergence of Islam and a Revolution in the Status of Women: Creation of Women • Spiritual Status of Women and Men in Islam • Men and Women: Similar Spiritual Traits and Rewards • Men and Women: Similar Punishments in the World to Come • Women: Right to Choose when it Comes to Marriage • Women: Right to Encourage Good and Forbid Evil • Women: Right to be Defended against False Accusations • Women: Differences with Men in SOME Areas (Blood Money, Testimony, and Inheritance) • Women: The Hijab: Quranic Perspectives From the second half of the month, we will look at examples of women in the Quran that Allah speaks about and that we can learn from. The Quran is replete with stories of righteous women like wives of Prophet Ibrahim, the mother and sister of Prophet Musa, the wife of the Pharaoh, Umm al-Momimeen Khadijah, Fatima az-Zahra and others – and we will be spending a day or two on each of these and other noble, respectable women. There are also women that led less than a respectable, righteous life and were reprimanded by Allah in the Quran – women like the wife of Prophet Lut and also the wife of Prophet Nuh and of course, two of the wives of Prophet Muḥammad – Ayesha the daughter of Abu Bakr and Hafsa the daughter of Umar and how Allah speaks about them in Sūrah al-Tahreem. Join us every day in Ramadan 2023/1444 as we review a new and interesting topic from the Quran under the theme of: NOT LIKE THE OTHER: WOMEN IN THE QURAN.

Sunday, 12 February 2023 Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” Acts 14:11 The wording of the NKJV does not give the proper sense of the verse. It should more closely read, “And the crowds, having seen what Paul did, lifted up their voice, Lycaonially, saying, ‘The gods, having become like men, came down unto us'” (CG). This will be used to evaluate the verse. In response to Paul's authoritative words for the cripple at Lystra to stand up straight and walk, the man did just that. With that, the crowds were obviously amazed. As such, Luke records their reaction, saying, “And the crowds, having seen what Paul did.” Paul was preaching the gospel to a crowd of indeterminate size. However, when people preach, there will be different levels of attention being paid by those in the area. Some may listen intently, some may be curious and listen while fiddling around with their children, and some may just be passing by without paying much attention. Therefore, the actual crowd in the area could have been larger than those closely heeding Paul's words. However, with Paul stopping his preaching, calling out to a cripple to be healed, and the cripple suddenly being healed, everyone would stop and observe what was going on. This is especially so because the healed crippled walked and continued walking, as the verb indicated. While doing so, every eye would be on him as he stepped and rejoiced, probably lifting up his voice with each step. In response to this amazing sight, the crowd followed suit, as Luke next notes, saying that they “lifted up their voice, Lycaonially.” The word translated here as Lycaonially is an adverb. To get the closest sense, this word was coined for the commentary. The point is that Paul was surely speaking in Greek. That can be inferred from the change to the native dialect. As they started shouting in their own language, it revealed a couple things. First, it is natural when suddenly amazed or stupefied for someone to return to his natural, default language. This is something seen anywhere one travels. It is how spies were identified during WWII. Those suspected of spying were tested in various ways, including suddenly surprising them to see if they reacted in their native language. Second, it made it more likely that those who didn't speak Greek would be able to hear and understand the magnificence of what they had to say, thus increasing the state of arousal of all in the area. For these, and whatever other reasons, it is evident that neither Paul nor Barnabas spoke in the Lycaonian tongue. This can be deduced from the delay in their petitions coming up in verse 14. As such, it explains what Paul was saying in 1 Corinthians 14:18, where he says, “I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all.” The tongues Paul refers to were not supernaturally given for him to evangelize wherever he went. Rather, he would normally speak the lingua franca of the empire, Greek. The tongues he refers to in 1 Corinthians are the many languages and dialects that he had learned throughout his life. As for the ongoing narrative, Luke next continues, noting that the people were “saying, ‘The gods.'” Those of the crowds around them had either not heard Paul's speech or they had not paid attention to it. They were caught up in the belief that there were many gods instead of the one God that Paul proclaimed. Because of this, and because of the miracle that had occurred which they assumed had been accomplished by Paul personally, they thought he and Barnabas must be a couple of those many gods, saying, “having become like men.” The notion of gods assuming the form of man was not an uncommon theme in Greek writings, and it is found in many cultures of the world. Even today, the Japanese believe that their emperor is of divine descent. At the end of WWII, Hirohito had to give up his claim to divinity, but this does not mean that his line is not still considered divine. And more, there are people who follow supposed gods around the world elsewhere today. For example, Kumari, or Kumari Devi, is supposedly the Living Goddess. This is a tradition of worshipping a particular virgin as a manifestation of the divine female energy (Shakti) in Dharmic religious customs. Others claim to be the Messiah, the Mahdi, or other divine manifestations of a god. This has been the case throughout human history. As for those in Lystra, they believed that Paul and Barnabas were gods who, as they said, “came down unto us.” This is another aspect of the divine that is almost universally understood. The gods are above, and those on the earth are below. The symbolism itself permeates Scripture. There is the heavenly, which is above, and there is the earthly below. The gods coming down, then, is a part of the universal conscience of man going all the way back to the Garden of Eden where the Lord was in the garden with Adam and Eve. It is a state that is anticipated to be restored someday – “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.'” Revelation 21:3 This is what those in Lystra believed had happened with the coming of Paul and Barnabas. They assumed that the divine gods had come among them, having missed the intent of the apostles' words that proclaimed the One true God. Paul and Barnabas had proclaimed Christ and they were His sent ones to bring them out of pagan darkness and into His light. Life application: The account of Paul and Barnabas here in Acts 14 gives a clear indication that the tongues (meaning languages) he speaks of in 1 Corinthians 14 are not supernatural gobbledygook supposedly spoken by charismatics today. These are false tongues intended to bring glory to self and inclusion in a body that is unsound in its theology. Their utterings are not “divinely inspired,” nor are they “the tongues of angels.” They are nonsensical gibberish that distract from the beauty of what God has done in the giving of Jesus for all nations, tribes, and tongues of the world. True tongues will always be a known language. At the time of the apostles, some were given divine utterances as a validation of the coming of the Spirit. With the completion of the Bible, these are no longer necessary. The record has been given, the details confirm the word, and we now must learn the language of those we intend to evangelize. Nothing else will do. If you want to know the biblical languages, get to work and study. If you want to be a missionary in a foreign land, you will need to learn the language of the land you go to. Again, nothing else will do. Lord God, there is a world full of people who need Jesus. Give us the desire and the ability to get the word out to them in a manner so they can understand that He is the answer to our deepest needs. May we be willing to expend ourselves to further this wonderful gospel message while there is time to do so. To Your glory, we pray. Amen.
For the ladies. All of'em. “MONA LISA'S SCARS” is that aromatic blend of acceptance and empowerment laid down over a soul stirring track produced by Local Astronauts. It's TikTok worthy. And it's about damn time. There's something phenomenal when men come together to celebrate the Divine Feminine. Noooo, not talking about ass and gushy…but about real people with real history to overcome. In today's social climate Women find themselves inundated with serums, creams, hairstyle and clothing choices that are aimed at making them feel less than who they are. “MONA LISA'S SCARS” is a laid-back wake-up call for Women to relax and embrace themselves as they are. The track features lyrics from Mahdi and Travii the 7th in a pace that allows the message to breathe and resonate. The hook “Be glad to know you're perfect as you are. No, you don't have to be a superstar. If I had a second chance, I would choose you the way you are. But it's up to you for you to love your scars,” repeats just enough times for the message to hit ladies where their scars live. Straight from the gate, HeadKrack words of a chance encounter, a street meet and greet sets the tone for Men who actually get it. Yup! They exist and “MONA LISA'S SCARS” lets it be none loud and clear. This is a jam that we can see women of all races, ages, sizes, and financial backgrounds embracing. It is NOT the everyday superficial song that they don't need. “So many women don't see the perfection in every flaw that truly makes them perfect. Women are often too hard on themselves and fail to recognize their own unique qualities, beauty and worth. I want to celebrate and encourage self-acceptance and appreciation for one's individuality”, expressed HEADKRACK. That's it. Something so simple. Arriving at the perfect time, on the perfect canvas. “MONA LISA'S SCARS” will be a healing anthem, mantra, and affirmational tool in the arsenal of Women everywhere guaranteed…or your money back.

Antifa is back, with their determination to burn the world away and replace it with their Millennium, their utopia. Their Anarchism, as the Legalism of other Leftists, has and can never produce anything other than pain. These ideas of eliminating the rule of law or of legislating away our human frailties is their justification for killing, burning, and destroying. They can be stopped. There are so many components to health then what we put in our bodies. It's not a tunnel vision around what we eat and how much we move. Our life is synergetic, and everything we experience, from the spirit, mind, emotions, and body, is a nutrient that impacts our health, and it can either be nourishing or detrimental. As an athlete, your breath, relationships, environment, and self-perception are nutrients, and they determine your subjective human experience (SHE). Your SHE is who you are, and it is determined by what you have been told about yourself. Your YOU can limit you from achieving your fitness goal, and you have to discover your true identity to break through. You're here to become more, and creating your identity is key. It's the foundation of what your life experiences will always be. You cannot transform your habits, character, lifestyle, or body with your old identity. It doesn't matter how much you are investing in your transformation. You will always rebound if you are stuck in the “I can't and I'm not” mentality. On this episode of Fall in love with Fitness, Dr. Mahdi shares with me what inspired him to naturopathic medicine, his journey of self-recovery and healing, and tools you can use to shift your identity, design your transformation, and experience lasting results. What You'll Learn from this Episode: Why wholistic and lasting transformation is not based on just diet and movement How our unconscious programming impacts our health and fitness How we create our blueprints or identity in life through our neuro experiences How to shift your identity and integrate it into who you are at the subatomic level. And much more! Key Takeaways Health is so much more than what we put in our bodies. There are only three principles that govern the body, receiving, creating, and eliminating, and when they are imbalanced, you will experience disease. Your I has been determined by your YOU, your identity, and how you see yourself, as I have been determined by what you've been told about you. Life is a fascinating journey of experiences full of rich opportunities, and it just requires you to be present and diligent in your becoming. You are perfect in your becoming, so there is no need for judgment. by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, The Promised Messiah and Mahdi(as) In 1905, through the book al-Wassiyat (The Will), Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) informed his community that according to divine revelations, his demise was near. The Promised Messiah(as) highlights two blessed institutions in this book; the system of Wassiyat and the establishment of Khilafat. Those who entered the system of Wassiyat would make a testamentary disposition for the cause of Islam, vowing to leave behind at least 1/10th or up to 1/3rd of their property for the cause of Islam while also creating a special spiritual revolution within themselves throughout their life. After detailing this blessed scheme, the Promised Messiah(as) gives the illustrious glad tidings of Allah's “second manifestation” that would be established after his demise. The Promised Messiah(as) describes this through the example of Hazrat Abu Bakr(ra), who was chosen by Allah to lead the Muslims as the first Khalifa of Islam following the demise of the Holy Prophet(sa). The Promised Messiah(as) also refers to Surah al-Nur, verse 56, in which Allah promises those Muslims who believe and do good works the blessing of Khilafat. The Promised Messiah(as) explains that the “second manifestation” would be until the end of times and established by Allah.
Racism was designed to keep us apart, It was designed to create conflict and a scarcity mindset. When we're socialized to hide our authentic selves and not bring who we really are to every interaction, we just cannot connect. Leaders, whether tackling diversity and inclusion or just everyday engagement and performance, can learn a lot of lessons about how authenticity and connection lead to better outcomes. My guest today, Berwick Mahdi Davenport, and I tackled big questions for amazingly useful insights. We discussed what is the ultimate human need, what role authentic connection plays in satisfying that need, and how listening is the hardest but most effective practice for leaders. We defined honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity in meaningful ways you can apply to your leadership right now, and how the lack of them gets in the way of effective performance. Finally, we talked about how racism and racial inequity play out in the workplace and society, preventing us from creating together and making smarter decisions.Key Takeaways:When you talk less and listen more, your leadership will transform. The ultimate human need is significance - this can look like a job package, a job title, a connection, relationships, love, and so much more. But it is all the same thing - they want to matter. When we are not authentic to ourselves and to those around us, people notice and feel that, and it causes a disconnect within ourselves. Everybody deserves to have the respect and space to grow. Nobody gets to where they are now overnight."What we have to realize as a leader is that you cannot pay people anything of equal value, no matter how much it is, to their life. Please don't forget to live, because this thing happens so quickly." — Berwick Mahdi DavenportAbout Berwick Mahdi Davenport, CEO, Soul Focused GroupMahdi, CEO of Soul Focused Group, brings over thirty years of experience as a practicing life coach and anti-racist organizer, facilitator, and spiritual teacher.
