Su padre fue el periodista y dramaturgo Adolfo Prego de Oliver y su hermano Adolfito es magistrado del tribunal supremo. Vamos, que a Victoria y a Adolfo NO le compraban los uniformes grandes pa que le duraran 2 años. Desde mu chica la madre intentó inculcarle el amor por la ganadería y unos Reyes le trajeron unas botas de goma verde para limpiar las pocilgas cuando iban de visita a la finca en verano, pero a Victoria le hacían sevaduras en las inglés y acababa andaba como Mariano, Mariano. Que luego, a la pobre, no la sacaba a bailar en la velaíta del pueblo ni el cura, y eso que todavía no se había desarollao ni ná. En el colegio no tuvo muchos problemas porque el empollón era el hermano y ella pasaba un poco desapercibida, menos cuando volvía de las vacaciones de verano en la finca. Cuando estaba en el Instituto entró una tarde en el despacho del padre y lo pilló merendando una oferta de 3 donuts por 1,80€ con Carrero Blanco que estaba dándole zascas a Carrillo y a Rojas-Marcos con el nick @Hastaelinfinitoymásallá. No lo dudó, sería periodista y presintió que la vida de alguno de estos personajes la harían llegar MUY MUY ALTO. Así que en 2º de BUP cogió letras puras para ingresar en la Escuela de Periodismo de la Iglesia, porque antes lo de ser periodista era como un FP. También estudió Ciencias Políticas convirtiéndose en la cuñada perfecta de sobremesa. En 1974 inició su carrera en el área internacional de los Servicios Informativos de La2, que habiendo sólo dos canales de televisión ya tenía que ser buena con esa cara que tenía. En esta época se ve que no llegaba en TVE pa peluquería y Victoria siempre llevaba el pelo como si lo hubiera tenido corto y lo hubiera dejado crecer a su bola. La cara era una mezcla entre Carmen Polo y una abuela random que te pasa 1000 ptas como si fuera drogaporro. En 1976 la nombraron jefa de la sección internacional de informativos porque Victoria hablaba mu bien inglés y hacía mu rico el desayuno ese con habichuelas y huevos fritos. Y entre 1977 y 1979 la mandaron de corresponsal a Londres pa que aprendiera también a hacer el Fish&Chips y el balconing. Cuando regresó a España en 1980, que anda que aguantó mucho a los guachisnei, ganó bastante popularidad porque empezó a co-presentar la 3a edición del telediario, la que veía tu padre después de cenar comiéndose el flan Dhul. También trabajó en Radio Nacional de España, en Onda Cero y en La Cope, dirigió debates políticos, escribió para periódicos como ABC y El Mundo, de hecho en 2005 fue nombrada adjunta al director P.J.Ramírez. Vamos, que Victoria nunca preguntaba dónde estaba el servicio porque siempre estaba al fondo a la derecha. Pero por lo que tal vez puede ser más recordada fue por el trabajo más destacado de su carrera, una serie documental sobre la historia reciente de España, DE ANTES, al que dio como título “La Transición” y que finalizó en 1992, emitiéndose en antena entre julio y octubre de 199cinqui en La2, que es dónde emitían antes las cosas pa los listos. En 2016 fue investida Dra. Honoris Causa por la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos I, pero entre ustedes y yo, a mí me parece que tó lo que venga de esa universidad vale lo mismo que un curso on-line de ofimática de 20 horas. Estuvo casada 2 veces y tuvo dos hijos, del primer matrimonio pero que se los comió el del segundo. En 2010 fue diagnosticada de cáncer de pulmón del que se recuperó. En 2013 le dio un ictus, pero la tía se recuperó como si lo que le hubiera dado fuera un ataque de hipo. Desgraciadamente el bichito volvió a sus pulmones y la profesionalísima Victoria Prego nos dejaba el pasado 1 de mayo de 2024 en Madrid, aunque ustedes siempre podrán recordarla cuando conozcan a alguien a quien no le quepan todos los apellidos en a tarjeta de El Corte Inglés o el servicio esté al fondo a la derecha.
