Let's go deep into Deuteronomy 10, and I will write it for you in the flowing style you like — storytelling, explanation, and meaning together, not in a bullet point or segmented format. Deuteronomy Chapter 10 — A Call to Fear and Love the Lord The chapter opens with Moses continuing to speak to Israel, reminding them of God's mercy even after their rebellion at Mount Sinai. He recalls the moment after the people had sinned by worshiping the golden calf, how God in His justice was ready to destroy them. Yet, in His mercy, God gave Moses the command to chisel out two new stone tablets like the first ones — because the original tablets of the covenant had been broken in anger at their idolatry. Moses carved out the tablets and made an ark of acacia wood to house them, as God instructed. He ascended the mountain once more, and there, in the presence of the Almighty, the covenant was renewed. God Himself wrote on these new tablets the same commandments He had given before. This moment was a sign of God's willingness to forgive and restore His relationship with His people, even after they had strayed. Moses then tells how the Levites were chosen to carry the ark of the covenant, to stand before the Lord and serve Him, and to pronounce blessings in HisBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.
This is not to be taken for granted, that they have learned to sing Christian songs, learned to pray for all kinds of needs and they like to read Bible stories. It is a blessing and reward for being a parent; to see my daughters and their husbands training their children in the ways of the Lord. It reminds me of the teachings that Thomas and I, as adults, received way back at Living Waters, 52 years ago. A verse that we found really practical at the time, is in Deuteronomy Chapter 6. It speaks of loving God, and then in verses 6-7 it says, “And these words that I command you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when your rise.” It is amazing that it doesn't matter what country we live in, what language we speak, and what generation we are born into, the Truth is always the same. Knowing God in His word, transcends all boundaries, traditions and cultures.
Deuteronomy 1 serves as the opening chapter of Moses' final address to the Israelites before they enter the Promised Land. This chapter is both a historical recounting and a spiritual reminder. Moses looks back over the journey from Mount Sinai (Horeb) to Kadesh Barnea and the critical moment when Israel refused to enter the land due to fear and disobedience. It's a call to remember God's faithfulness, learn from past mistakes, and trust Him for the future. ⸻ Verses 1–5: Setting the Stage “These are the words Moses spoke to all Israel in the wilderness east of the Jordan…” — Deuteronomy 1:1 Moses begins his speech in the fortieth year after leaving Egypt. The Israelites are now on the edge of the Promised Land, and Moses, knowing he won't enter it, prepares the people to walk in obedience and courage. The book of Deuteronomy literally means “second law” or “repetition of the law.” It's not a new law, but a reaffirmation of God's covenant and instructions before entering a new chapter. ⸻ Verses 6–8: God's Command to Advance “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance…” — Deuteronomy 1:6–7 God told the Israelites it was time to move forward from Mount Horeb. They had received the law, built the tabernacle, and camped, but now the call was to possess the land. This verse is powerful today. Many people camp in comfort zones, fear, or spiritual stagnation. But God says, “You've stayed here long enough. Move forward!” ⸻ Verses 9–18: Leadership Appointed “I cannot bear your troubles alone… Choose wise, understanding and respected men…” — Deuteronomy 1:9–13 Moses recalls how leadership was shared among the tribes. God values wise, just, and humble leaders who judge fairly, without partiality. This principle of shared leadership emphasizes community responsibility and integrity. ⸻ Verses 19–33: The Great Failure at Kadesh “But you were unwilling to go up; you rebelled against the command of the Lord your God.” — Deuteronomy 1:26 Moses reminds them of how they reached the edge of Canaan but refused to enter because of fear. Though God promised victory, the people believed the report of the ten fearful spies rather than the Lord. “In spite of this, you did not trust in the Lord your God.” — Deuteronomy 1:32 This is a warning: unbelief robs you of promises. The Israelites saw God's miracles—cloud by day, fire by night, manna from heaven—and still doubted. ⸻ Verses 34–40: The Judgment “Not one of this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give…” — Deuteronomy 1:35 Because of disobedience, an entire generation was barred from entering the land, except for Caleb and Joshua, men of faith. Even Moses would not enter because of disobedience at Meribah (Numbers 20). This shows that leadership is held to a high standard, and God's discipline is not favoritism—it's righteous. ⸻ Verses 41–46: Presumption After Rebellion “Then you replied, ‘We have sinned… we will go up and fight'… But the Lord said to me, ‘Tell them not to go… I will not be with you.'” — Deuteronomy 1:41–42 After being told they would not enter, the people tried to go up without God's presence—and were defeated. This section shows the danger of presumptuous faith. Obedience is not just doing something religious—it's doing what God says, when He says, how He says. ⸻ Themes and Lessons from Deuteronomy 1 1. Remember God's Faithfulness Deuteronomy is filled with calls to remember. We are prone to forget God's works and promises when facing trials. Faith grows when we look back at His track record. 2. Move When God Says Move Stagnation can be disguised as spiritual patience. Don't camp out where God once was. Advance when He commands. 3. Obedience Is Greater Than Ambition The Israelites tried to correct their mistake with human effort, but it was too late. Delayed obedience is disobedience. 4. Trust Over Fear Fear caused a whole generation to miss their destiny. Faith is not the absence of fear—it's choosing to move forward in trust anyway. 5. God Shows No Favoritism Even Moses faced judgment. As Acts 10:34 says, “God is no respecter of persons.” We are all accountable to Him. ⸻ Reflection Questions •Am I lingering too long in a place God has told me to move on from? •Have I allowed fear to block me from obeying God's call? •Do I trust God's promises more than my perception of the situation? •Am I walking in obedience or presumption?Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.
Have you ever been in a pay-it-forward drive thru line? That's when the person in front pays for you, and then you pay for the person behind you. As those experiences demonstrate, generosity is connected to what happens before you, and what comes next. Past. Present. Future. We are always embedded in a story of generosity: God's generosity to us (often through other people!), and our generosity to others. Can you recall a time when you received something from someone else? How will you keep the story of generosity going? This message comes from Pastor Sarah. Our scripture reading is Deuteronomy Chapter 26, Verses 1-11.
Father in heaven, thank you for this moment. We are here by your grace! Your Word open before us and your Spirit active in us. Speak to us, we pray, in Jesus's name, amen.Today we're starting a new series in the Old Testament book of Numbers, and I just want to go ahead and tell you that this book is going to surprise you. If you've read the Book of Numbers before you may have noticed that, unsurprisingly, there's a lot of numbers. There are two big census reports of Israel in Chapter 1 and Chapter 26, and there's also a few parts that might be a little hard to understand, but mainly, this book is packed with action and suspense … There is conflict and resolution, obedience and rebellion, espionage and war, celebration and complaint, blessings and curses — There is meat that falls from the sky, the ground that swallows men alive, a rock that gushes water, poisonous snakes that kill people, and a donkey that talks. It's an amazing book, and the main point overall is that we might learn how to live with God on the road. The ultimate goal of everything (and I mean everything) is that God's glory be magnified in our hearts being satisfied in all that he is for us in Christ — and that means that God is our God and we are his people, and he is with us forever. That's what heaven is! That's home, Christian! But we're not there yet. For right now, we are on the road, we're still on a journey, and the Book of Numbers is meant to help us. We're gonna be in this book over the next 11 weeks, and what I'd like to do today is give you a short introduction to this book as a whole. And I want to tell you three things that the Book of Numbers is gonna help you do (and this goes for everyone, but I'm especially thinking about those of you who heard we were doing a series on Numbers and thought, “Oh man, Numbers??”. Here are three things you can prepare to do in response to this book:Enter the wildHear the wordHeed the warningAnd before we look closer at these three things, I want to make sure we're all on same page when it comes to the storyline. For the last several years we've been working our way through the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament. Numbers is book #4 of 5, and it only makes sense if we understand it in the context of these other books. So let's back up for a second and remember where we are.GenesisEverything starts in Genesis 1:1 — “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…” God is the First Cause. He's the Unmoved Mover. He is dependent on nothing, but all things are dependent upon him, which magnifies his glory. After Adam's fall into sin, the entire world was corrupted and broken, but God, by his grace, was determined to have a people who lived under his blessing. And so he chose Abraham and blessed him — God said: I will bless you and make you a blessing; through your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed, and your descendants will be as many as the stars (Genesis 12:1–3; 15:5–6). And God also promised him a certain land — the land of the Canaanites (Gen. 12:7; 15:18–21; 26:1–5; 28:4; 35:12). God repeats this promise to Isaac and then to Jacob. Jacob's name is changed to Israel, and he has 12 sons.Exodus Fast-forward to the Book of Exodus, and all the children of Israel had migrated to Egypt because of a famine; they had grown in number, which threatened Pharaoh, so he makes them slaves, but then God raises up Moses to lead the people out of Egypt in the exodus. God does this dramatically, through many signs and wonders, executing judgment on the false gods of Egypt (see Num. 33:4). The people of Israel escape, through the Red Sea, and they journey to Mount Sinai. And Mount Sinai is the place where God comes down on the mountain to speak with Moses. God gives Israel the law and instructions for the tabernacle, which will be God's dwelling place among his people. God will be with his people, but how? That's the vital question that emerges in the story. How will this Holy God, Creator of all things, dwell with this sinful people? — because one thing that becomes clear by the end of the Book of Exodus is that the people of Israel are sinful. They grumble about almost everything. They're bent away from God. So how can a people like that have a relationship with this God? Leviticus That's the big question that Leviticus takes on, and the answer is atonement. The Day of Atonement is the center of the Book of Leviticus, and Leviticus is the center of the Torah. Through blood sacrifice, the people's sins can be forgiven and they can worship God — they can live with God's presence at the center of their lives! God makes a way for sinners to be close to him, and this is all pointing to the gospel of Jesus Christ. That's Leviticus.NumbersAnd now here is Numbers. For location and timing, Numbers opens and the people of Israel are still in the wilderness of Sinai. This is continuing the Book of Exodus. Numbers 1 picks up where Exodus 40 left off. So Leviticus comes between Exodus and Numbers because of its theme, but in terms of timing, Numbers happens right after Exodus. The people of Israel had built the Tabernacle and received the law, and now they're just about to set out on a journey from the wilderness of Sinai to the Promised Land (that same land that God promised Abraham back in Genesis). They're leaving from where they are (Mount Sinai) to go to their promised home, but they don't want to leave the presence of Yahweh. That's the whole point of the Tabernacle — it's a mobile dwelling place for God. The people must have God go with them — as a cloud by day and fire by night. And this is the answer to Moses's prayer going back to Exodus 33. Remember God promised Moses, “My presence will go with you”, and Moses said to God — one of the high points of Scripture — Moses said,“If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. 16 For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?” 17 And the Lord said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do …” (vv. 15–17)So the Book of Numbers focuses in on God's holy presence going with his people, even as they go deeper into the wilderness. That's where we are.Three things this book will help you do …1. Enter the WildBack in 1992 there was a guy named Chris McCandless who died of starvation in an abandoned bus on Stampede Trail in Alaska. If you've seen the movie or watched the documentary or read the book, you know the story. He graduated at the top of his class at Emory University, but gave away all his money and accomplishments to become a vagabond, and he ended up hitchhiking to Alaska — because he wanted to be deep in the wild. He wanted the adventure of the wilderness and it killed him, and he's been criticized for this. Apparently, he was ill-prepared and under-equipped for where he went. He went hiking and didn't even have a map, and sadly, if he did have a map he would have seen that he wasn't as remote as he thought. With a map, he could have easily walked out from where he was to safety. So this a tragic story — it was an avoidable death in the wilderness. And we're actually gonna see this same thing in the Book of Numbers. The people of Israel are also in the wilderness — but it's not because they want to be — they're in the wilderness because God leads them there to test them, because he wants their faith. All they have to do is trust him, but they don't, and therefore a whole generation of Israel does not make it out alive. A big part of the story of Numbers is a whole generation of people dying an avoidable death in the wilderness. That's what the wild can do to you. And this is important for us because, similar to Israel, we as Christians are currently in the wild. It might not feel like we are, but it's true. Notice in verse 1 we're told that the story of Numbers is taking place after God rescued his people from Egypt. The events of this book are after salvation but before making it home. The in-between. That's where the wilderness is, and that's where we are.As Christians, we also live after salvation and before making it home. Jesus has rescued us — he has died for us and been raised from the dead, we are free in him — but we're not in heaven yet. This is the in-between. We need to recognize that we've entered the wild … and not all of us make it out.And I'm just being honest with you. I've been a Christian long enough to know some tragic stories of people who fall away … and it's all avoidable. But how? We've entered the wild, and now we ask: How do we make it through the wild?2. Hear the WordNow in our English Bibles, we call the Book of Numbers Numbers, but in the Hebrew Bible it's known as bĕmidbar — which means “in the wilderness.” Those are the very first words of Numbers in the Hebrew Bible. The book starts: “In the wilderness Yahweh spoke to Moses.”And one fascinating little detail in the Hebrew that we can't see in English is that the words for “wilderness” and “spoke” in that first sentence sound the same. The Hebrew word for “wilderness” (or desert) is midbar; and the Hebrew word for “spoke” (or word) is dibbur — midbar … dibbur. This would be like us saying wild and word. Wild … word. They kinda sound the same. And ancient Jewish interpreters picked up on the wordplay here — that the words just don't sound the same, but they're closely connected in this story. And this connection is made plain in the Book of Deuteronomy, the book right after Numbers. In Deuteronomy Chapter 8, reflecting back on the Book of Numbers, Moses says:2 And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.I want you to get this, and this is a little bit of spoiler, but here it goes: the only way that Israel can live in the wild is to listen to the word. And if we had to capture that in a single idea it would be the idea of guidance. I think that's what we could call the overall theme of the Book of Numbers. If Genesis is Beginnings, Exodus is Rescue, Leviticus is Atonement, Numbers would be Guidance. That's what it means when God's presence goes with his people. Where God guides, the people go. And that includes literal direction in this story, but it's also more than that. God's guidance is moral — he is showing his people how to live together as his people, under his care, trusting him everyday. That's what guidance is for.Need Guidance?Anybody in here need any guidance? Do you think our lives in this world, in the in-between, need to be guided by God?Absolutely. This is why God has given us the Bible — we have his word to us in Holy Scripture!Look, we have get over our worry about legalism when it comes to daily Bible reading. Can we just grow up out of that? Settle this: reading the Bible is not what makes God love you. Okay? Settled. And, now … I don't know how you survive as a Christian without reading the Bible. We need God's word for the life of faith like we need oxygen. Don't think about Bible reading as a duty, but think: Do I want to breathe? You're not reading just to read; you're not trying to check a box, but you need to know how to live in this world. You need to hear from God on how to live in the wild! We need God's guidance! And there's a book for that. God has given us his word.Church, hear the word. 3. Heed the WarningThe Book of Numbers can be divided up or outlined in a couple of different ways, and one way is to see the book as really the story of two generations. The first generation goes from Chapter 1 through 18; and the second generation from Chapter 20 through 36.The second generation is faithful and they make it to the Promised Land, but the first generation is faithless and they die in the wilderness. Numbers is a fascinating book in and of itself, but then we also have the New Testament, and in the book of 1 Corinthians Chapter 10, the apostle Paul makes some comments about the Book of Numbers that are pretty important. In 1 Corinthians 10 most English Bibles put a little heading there that says something like “Warning Against Idolatry” because that's what Paul is doing. He gives a warning, and look where he goes:In verses 1–5 he talks about that first generation in Numbers. God had rescued them from Egypt; they had seen God's provision, nevertheless, verse 5: “with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.” That was the first generation — we're gonna study all about this over the next several weeks. But notice what Paul says in verse 6.1 Corinthians 10:6,“Now these things took place [the events in Numbers — these things took place] as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.”Again, look at verse 11: “Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come.”And that word for “instruction” could also be translated as “warning.” Paul is saying that the purpose of this book — the reason the events of Numbers were written down — was so that we Christians would read it as a cautionary tale! Verse 12: “Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.”According to the apostle Paul, this is the attitude we should bring to this book. Sober up, church! Listen closely! Take heed! Do not be like the first generation in Numbers. In short, flee idolatry. Flee IdolatryPaul mentions idolatry twice here, in verse 7 and verse 14. And that tells us that, fundamentally, Israel's problem of unbelief in Numbers was a failure to obey the first commandment: “You shall have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3).That was the real reason behind all their grumbling and suspicion — they didn't worship the true God! And this all comes to light in Numbers 25.Numbers 25 is the last event of the first generation, (right before Chapter 26 gives us the census for the new generation). And in Chapter 25, this is verse 1:“While Israel lived in Shittim, the people began to whore with the daughters of Moab. 2 These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3 So Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor.”Now this is eerily similar to Exodus 32 when Israel made the golden calf, except this is worse! In Exodus 32, the people clearly break the second commandment, “You shall not make for yourself a carved image” (Exodus 20:4), but here in Numbers 25 they're not making images, they are literally putting other gods before Yahweh! It's like Numbers has pulled back the layers and got to the real issue. The people of Israel have not learned from their sin in Exodus 32, but they've doubled down in it. They've dug in their heels to make clear they want other gods besides Yahweh — which is disgusting and ridiculous and terrifying. We don't want to do that! We must flee idolatry! And in the Book of Numbers, we're gonna learn how to flee. We are going to heed Paul's warning and we're going to reject idolatry. And so we should expect a kind of testing through this book over the next several weeks. And I want to invite all of us, through this series, to open our hearts to God, and ask him to search us. We want him to expose any idols we might be harboring. Is there anything that we might want more than God?Questions to ConsiderAnd to get us started with that heart attitude, I'd like to close with some self-assessment questions. And I know this is a little different. We've never done this before, but this is an intro sermon. I want us to prepare for this book, and so here are a few questions for us to think about…(1) When it comes to entering the wild …Do you demonstrate a recognition that this world is not your home? How does your life show that you're on a journey to heaven?(2) When it comes to hearing the word …Are you determined to love what God loves and to do what God says? How often do you look to God for guidance?(3) When it comes to heeding the warning …Is Jesus your all-consuming passion and all-satisfying treasure? If he's not, who is?The TableThe Book of Numbers is a kind of call to action. It's an “on your feet” book, but the action is faith, and faith is the empty-handed embrace of who God is. We bring nothing to him, and this Table reminds us of that.We come to him, hands open, to receive his grace, to lean on his mercy, to rest in his love, which he has shown us most vividly in the death of Jesus for us. This Table reminds us of that, and we give God thanks for the gospel.

This chapter reveals three key elements: commandments, consequences, and conditions for experiencing blessings. Let's explore how obedience to God's commands brings about divine blessings.1: The Commandments (Deuteronomy 7:1-5)Moses begins by giving specific commands to the Israelites as they prepare to enter the Promised Land:No Survivors (Verses 1-2): The Israelites are commanded to utterly destroy the nations inhabiting the land. This harsh command reflects God's judgment against these morally corrupt nations and serves to protect Israel from their influence. No Intermarriage (Verse 3): The Israelites are forbidden to intermarry with these nations, as such unions would lead them astray from God. This command anticipates the possibility of Israel failing to fully obey the previous command, thus emphasizing the need for separation from pagan practices. No Idols (Verse 5): The Israelites must destroy all forms of idolatry in the land. Idols and their associated practices were to be completely eradicated to prevent Israel from being tempted into false worship. These commands were given because Israel was chosen by God to be a holy people, set apart from other nations.2: The Consequences of Obedience (Deuteronomy 7:12-15)Moses then outlines the blessings that would follow if the Israelites obeyed God's commands:Mercy (Verse 12): If they obey, God promises to maintain His covenant with them, showing them mercy.Blessing (Verses 13-14): God promises to bless them with prosperity in all areas of life—children, crops, and livestock. Obedience would lead to abundant material blessings.Health (Verse 15): God promises to protect them from sickness and disease, ensuring their physical well-being.These blessings are contingent on their obedience, highlighting the direct connection between following God's commands and receiving His favor.3: The Conditions for Experiencing Blessings (Deuteronomy 7:16-26)Moses reiterates the conditions that must be met to experience God's blessings:Total Destruction of Enemies (Verses 16-20): The Israelites are reminded to destroy all the inhabitants of the land without pity and to avoid serving their gods. God reassures them that He will drive out these nations, little by little, until they are completely defeated. No Fear (Verses 21-24): They are commanded not to fear their enemies but to remember God's past faithfulness. By focusing on God's power rather than their fears, they will have the strength to overcome any obstacles.Destruction of Idols (Verses 25-26): The Israelites must destroy all idols and refrain from coveting their material wealth. These idols are abominations and must not be brought into their homes, as theSupport the showJeremy McCandless is creating podcasts and devotional resources | PatreonHelp us continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com
Our lives are so busy, we often think that we can't afford to take any time. There are so many things to do, when are we finished? If we can only rest when we are finished, will that ever happen. God is at work for us, even when we are at rest. The sabbath invites us to rest, watch and listen. We can then hear God's messages for us. This message comes from Pastor Sara, and the Scripture comes from the Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 5, verses 12-15, and the Gospel comes from March, Chapter 2, verses 23-28.

Raising children can sometimes seem like a dog-eat-dog world of competition and isolation. We are often so focused on the myriad tasks at hand that we can lose sight of the larger community around us, both in terms of other children but also resources that help connect us to community as parents. Jesus didn't have children “of his own.” He blessed other peoples' children – and not just the high-achieving ones! - and said they would inherit the kingdom of God. It's a gift and a joy to discover a different culture of child-rearing – and of life support for adults too! That's a culture where we care for one another deeply, recognizing we all belong to each other. As the popular quote summarizes, “there is no such thing as other people's children.” In this message we celebrate the culture that the Westwood Early Childhood Center has embodied for 40 years. And it's part of all of our vocation as Lutheran Christians. We care about the well-being not only of our own kin, but of all God's children, anywhere in the world. This message is brought to us by Pastor Sarah, and our scripture is from the book of Deuteronomy Chapter 6. The Gospel is from Mark, Chapter 10.

Mike Winther gives a lecture about education at a homeschool convention. Homeschool families take a personal interest in their children's education. He talks about biblical ideas of education. He also talks about some Puritan ideas of education which are consistent with biblical models. This episode is about children of God versus children of Caesar, and it's really about who owns our children. God owns our children, but parents are the caretakers and are held accountable for what they do with their children. This episode is for anyone trying to make sense of how to best educate their children. You'll Learn: [02:23] Plato was a Greek philosopher. Like many philosophers, he wrestled with the nature of man. Is the nature of man good or evil? [03:04] The judeo-Christian view is that man is born with a sin nature. Plato said that man was essentially good but sometimes does evil. [03:49] Plato's answer to where sin comes from is a learned nature from your parents. We have an evil problem in society, because young people learn evil. [04:57] In Plato's Republic, you find the most honest noble person and make them the Philosopher King with absolute power. The next level of wise people are made the schoolmasters. [06:07] The children are taken away from the parents as soon as they are weaned. [07:43] Fundamental to Plato's Utopia is fixing the educational system. [08:16] Deuteronomy Chapter 6. [10:05] We should always be instructing our children. [11:40] Is it possible to make education an idol? Education is a means to an end, it's not the end itself. [14:06] How much of our future should we mortgage for an education? [16:27] Mike talks about things that the Bible tells us that we shouldn't do. [19:08] Mike talks about the two economic systems in our world and why socialism is biblically wrong. [22:04] What should we teach? The Puritans worked hard to apply scripture to every area of life. [22:30] Cotton Mather had a lot to say about education. [25:13] Reading and writing is secondary to teaching about the savior. [29:14] Serving God first and meeting the needs of others. Our careers and occupations are simply serving others. [30:40] How our worldviews shouldn't be compartmentalized. [36:10] Methodology and the debate about how we teach. The Trivium and the three stages of learning. The grammar stage. The logic stage. The rhetoric stage. [40:55] We should move towards the goal of educating in a Christian environment. [45:38] Mike talks about how the public schools have way more access to your children's mind than you have. [50:08] History shows that people in the past who only had an eighth grade education can speak, read and write better than current students. [50:49] Mike shares quotes by James Carter and Samuel Smith and Horace Mann. [55:16] Your children learn the doctrine of whatever school you put them in. [56:49] Problems in America are educational problems. [57:13] Karl Marx's 10 steps for bringing about communism or socialism. One fundamental aspect is free public education for children in schools. [01:01:15] Don't assume that a Christian college is safe. Give your kids all of the best foundations possible. [01:03:38] Challenge your kids with information. Did you know that God hears you when you pray? Whether you're praying for something big or small. As a Christian believer, you have God's authority and power when you pray and He WILL answer you! (Luke 10:19, ESV) I give two examples of this by God answering my prayers for me to travel to Destin beach, Florida, last year and a good, used car THIS year! However, God is not Santa Claus or a slot machine at a casino. God has given us a condition for His blessings, found in Deuteronomy Chapter 28 - obedience to His word. If we obey Him, He will shower us, our family, and our lives with His blessings. If we disobey, we will experience sorrow, destruction, and curses. But the good news is that if we seek His face, and obey Him, whatever we ask for in prayer, believing, we will receive! (Mark 11:24) My book on prayer, Walking With God, is available for sale at Amazon at the link below: https://www.amazon.com/Walking-God-Beth-M-Jones-ebook/dp/B004JXVYPO/ This week's vlog at my YouTube channel can be seen at the link below: https://youtu.be/QOEcUZvx-fA Sign up for a free gift and my updates at BethJones.net. All Sickness Are Curses Of The devil! So Pray,(Talk) To God About Your Situation! My Books: Amazon.com/Richard-A-Hardin/e/B09J2YHCVB*****Search the Scriptures & find doors you have opened to the devil, then pray correctly to close the doors you have opened that allows the devil to come in. God will not allow the devil to come into you unless you have personally opened a door yourself to the devil. And you can close the door anytime you choose, so pray(talk to God), read His promises and find our what you have been overlooking or disregarding! Each promise comes with a condition or situation we must meet, and that is always to accept, receive and obey some of God's Word! The main common condition is that we must seek Him for our specific situation until we hear from Him about it, accept what He says, then confess and obey what He says.***rahardin.com - Podcasts Email: rhardinahardin@yahoo.comSchedule: M-F, 7-8AM; Sat & Sun, 6-8AM (CST)****Richard Hardin, POBox 45684, OKC, OK 73145.****You can also find my programs on Itunes.****If you haven't made a personal search of the Scriptures about healing and causes of sicknesses and other bad things in your life, you are missing a lot of God's promises and blessings for your life and your loved ones' lives. How do I know? Because, ministers do not go to Seminaries or other Bible schools to learn God's Pure Word. They go to their schools of choice to learn how to preach and teach the Scriptures according to their denomination beliefs of choice.****God's presence, His Spirit is healing. Proverbs 4:22 states that God's Words are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh. In Deuteronomy Chapter 28 where the blessings and curses are listed, not one sickness is on the blessing side, and all the sicknesses are listed as curses. Proverbs 26:2 states, “As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.” There is a reason for your curse(sickness). Exodus 23:25 states, “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” In Hebrews it states that Jesus is the foundation of our new and better promises, so I guess to get any better than Ex 23:25 above God will bless our air too! I hope today's message will encourage you to seek the Lord and close any doors you have open to the devil that allows him to bring curses into your life or your family too if your are the spiritual leader of your house. The only way sickness and other curses can get into our lives is through doors we each individually allow to open to the devil. Listen and see how you might have let the devil in, and then you can shut the door and God will kick satan out as long as you continue to make choices according to God's Pure Word! I am not saying just you, I have to answer to the same requirements, no one gets a free pass! It is like being at the judgment seat of Christ, when God speaks His Living Word Christ to us, we have to choose to accept or reject, and when we reject Christ, the Living Word to us, we are opening the door to satan to bring his curses into us while we are rejecting Christ and His Living Word! You can change your life today even if you are already a Christian, by choosing to seek God with all your heart, study His Word and open your heart to receive His Pure Word by closing the open doors you have to the devil.****Order a couple of my books and you will see more clearly what I mean by God's Pure Word. on @ KLRNRadio.com CST Fri #GPWF #Christian or rahardin.com, Radio.
