Jason and Kara shared with friends that Jayke had a true talent and passion for skateboarding and living life to the fullest. He continually encouraged others to get outside their comfort zones and not sweat the small stuff. His fun personality was contagious and helped make him so many friends everywhere he went. As I spoke with Jayson and Kara, It was obvious that Jayke was an amazing human who was fighting some underlining medical conditions. Jakes scoliosis had flared up and he was attempting to self-medicate with medical marijuana. When the pain failed to subside, he turned to more modern medicine. A friend had given him a Xanax bar with the promise of sleep and pain alleviation. None of this appeared to easy his pain. It needs to be noted that Jayke was open and honest with his parents about the drug use and was reaching out to them for help and support. They had an open dialogue and were willing to help Jayke find the right doctor or prescription to get him out of pain. On May, 18th 2020, Jayke attended a party with his friends. While there, he was offered an " Oxy pain killer." Jayke took the pain killer and arrived home never to be seen alive again. An autopsy was completed and his death was ruled an "Accidental Fentanyl Overdose." Jayke had no idea that this "one pill" was going to cost him his life! Parents, please listen to this podcast with your children. This is real life! This death was unexpected and rocked a community. Jayson and Kara are sharing Jayke's story to act as a beacon of hope. They want to spread Jayke's message. A message of love! Keep Chasing The Vase. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/brock-m-bevell/support

Before he made a name for himself in roots and Americana music as the front man and primary songwriter of a band that bears his name, Joseph Huber was a punk kid living in the country. While growing up on the outskirts of New London, Wisconsin, the mohawked Huber learned how to play guitar on an Ibanez before spending much of his high school years playing in The Inserts and writing regrettable songs in The Rogues. After moving to Milwaukee for college, Huber hit it off with Jayke Orvis and the rest was history. Prior to leaving for a West Coast tour and shortly before the release of his forthcoming album, Moondog, Huber joined host Tyler Maas at Milwaukee Record headquarters and told him about his formative shows in northeast Wisconsin, regretting some of his early songwriting decisions, teaching himself banjo in exactly the wrong way and how .357 String Band formed and subsequently took the Milwaukee music scene by storm. My First Band is sponsored by Boulevard Brewing and is edited by Jared Blohm. You can listen to My First Band on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify and wherever else you get podcasts. Music used in this show comes courtesy of Devils Teeth (“The Junction Street Eight Tigers”), The Rogues ("Reading Is Dumb") and Joseph Huber ("Rivers Of Smoke").

Stellar's Jay is the moniker for the music of Jayke Webb from Chattanooga, TN. It all started in Rogers, Arkansas in 2001 when Jayke, at the age of 15, picked up a guitar and began writing songs. The subject matter of these songs span from Jayke's endless need to travel, love gained and love lost, imaginative stories of war, pirates, and beasts, as well as an examination of what it means to be human.
