Connor and Dustin talk about the Wings Season, while overall they finished strong, theres still that issue of the losing streak they went on during Larking absence. It shows the lack of depth in the center position and hopefully thats something that Yzerman looks to strengthen this offseason via prospects or trades/free agents. Raymond surely put on a show this season making the case made for a big long term contract. With the Wings out of the playoffs the Connor and Dustin can watch some unbiased hockey. The Wings need to be in a WC1 position next year or better or they will have a lot of questions to answer.Who do you think is going to win this years Stanley Cup? The Red Wings are off to a hot start being 2nd in the Atlantic Division. Larking and Debrincat are clicking and we finally have true 2nd and third lines. Thoughts and prayers out to Adam Johnson and his friends and family. Dustin and Connor talk about neck guards and the implementation of them in multiple leagues around the world. Dustin and Connor think the Wings have 4-5 wins in them moving into Thanksgiving. If they can keep up this pace there is 0 reason they wouldn't at least be in the conversation for playoffs and being buyers at the deadline.

The late finish to Round 8 messing with everyone's schedules, TWL is attempting an ambitious two-parter - a la Outkast in 2003. Florence Evans is an art dealer, historian, curator, collector and mud larker. We chat on what does mudlarking tell us about history ? What does art tell us about being human ? …we mustn't forget is that ultimately there's a real human connection with beauty. So conceptual art aside which serves an important purpose and helps us to think and challenges us in many ways. On the other hand, there's a human need, I think, a kind of nesting instinct to have art for the home, things of beauty to lift your spirits. I think that's really elemental. … Florrie chats on the cultural history of mudlarking, the stories found objects represent from the both the darker side of human history such as beads and the slave trade, as well as the lighter sides of found items. We discuss one of her favourite finds, a whole child's shoe from the Tudor era. We chat on what we've puzzled out from our river finds including a hand blown glass apothecary bottle from the 1600s. We discuss: bottles, beads, coins, stories, Roman items, buttons and costumes and more… We touch on her philosophy as an art collector and what art means to us as humans. One of my happiest achievements in my career thus far was curating an exhibition on mudlarking and mudlarked art in 2019 for the Totally Thames Festival. That was an exhibition that I put on showing art by artists featuring mudlark finds, still life photographs by Hannah Smiles; a photographer of mudlarked finds and portraits of mudlarks as well that she had taken. That was in the Bargehouse which is a massive warehouse space on the South Bank by the Oxo Tower; so right by the river. That was a joy to be asked to do that and it felt like it was a fusion of both my passion, hobby; mudlarking and what I do in work which is curate and look at art. So that was a fusion of art and mudlarking and looking at craft and elevating it to art. Looking at history and saying, "This is part of who we are as human beings. We create-- There is an impulse and an urge to make things of beauty. Even things that are utilitarian, there's beauty to be found." And that kind of links back to the philosophy of someone like William Morris who believed that art should always be useful and beautiful. What art Florrie likes and collects and the challenge of modern art. Florrie gives her advice on art collecting and life. I've always done what I love and it gives me great satisfaction. You can always find your people, you can always find your niche even just by going online. It's amazing how the world opens up. As long as you are doing something that you're passionate about, you should be okay. The Warriors podcast throuple is back together again for the first time in 2022 with Brad and Fonzie sorting out their schedules to join Will on a Friday arvo. First and foremost, Larking concludes his pants saga, then it's onto an erudite Fonz-led breakdown of the Roosters game and a wrap of where the team is at right now. There's the usual tangents, anecdotes and waffle (inlcuding musical guilty pleasures), and from about the hour mark a genuine highlight: an interview with the one and only Ian Roberts.
On this special edition of Missin Curfew, Obs and Updogg sit down with current leading scorer in the NHL Jonathan Huberdeau (@JonnyHuby11) of the Florida Panthers and Detroit Red Wings Captain Dylan Larkin(@dylanlarkin71)! These interviews were recorded over All-Star Weekend on the Las Vegas Strip and they both had some great stories to share! Huby talks about the keys to the Panthers success, how much fun he's been having on the ice, and the typical Florida stuff: sunburns, food and cars. Then Dylan Larkin sits down despite Flowers trying to swipe his girlfriend the night before! They discuss Newfoundland, Moritz Seider's breakout season, and Michigan hockey.

The location is the Pilchard Inn, a pub on Burgh Island in Devon. Now Burgh Island is an interesting place in its own right as it can be reached at low tide by walking across a strip of sand but at high tide you need either a boat or to take a life on the island's sand tractor – which is a kind on mini open top bus on stilts. The main attraction on the island is the art deco hotel, which was used by the crime writer Agatha Christie for the setting of two of her detective stories And Then There Were None and the Hercule Poirot mystery Evil Under the Sun. However it is not the hotel that is haunted but the pub which is said to date back as long ago as the 14th century, when it was used as a refuge by fishermen fishing for pilchards. According to legend, in later years the island became the home of smugglers and pirates, including a character called Crocker who may at one time even been the landlord of the Pilchard Inn. Sometime in the 18th century he met his match when he was shot dead in a fight - on the 13th August – with either a rival gang or customs officers. Apparently today you can buy a baguette and a pint at the Pilchard Inn – the baguette being something that would have definitely not been on the menu at the pub in Crocker's day. Incidentally fans of Swinging Sixties pop trivia might like to note that Burgh Island and its sand tractor were the setting for the final scene of 1965 movie Catch Us If You Can featuring The Dave Clark Five – a band that at one time were rated as the main rivals to The Beatles. 0 Comments Weird Tales Radio Show #176: Howling at the Moon 13/8/20210 Comments In this week's Weird Tales Radio Show #176 our guest is anatomist Janet Philp talking about the science of werwolves, zombies and dragons. Is it physically possible for them to exist in the real world? We also say Happy Birthday to Folklore, consider the Meaning of Life with the assistance of a celebrity chef and The Hitch Hikers Guide, and of course we have a Friday the 13th ghost story.

Coming to you from Level 4, Will and Brad are already showing signs of lockdown fatigue...could be the day drinking. But they're pumped the Warriors are still alive in the finals race, while the rambling, tangent-heavy league chat is complemented by Larking asking another couple of life's great questions: where is the thermometer for the outside temp on your car? And who is the 'feels like' temp person on the weather?

Has your doctor ever encouraged you to improve your health by losing a few pounds? If so you will be able to relate to Aoife Larking my guest on this week’s podcast. It’s fair to say that Aoife’s doctor cut straight to the point when announcing that if Aoife didn’t do anything about her eating habit's that her friends and family would be carrying her out in a box! Harsh, shocking words that hit home to Aoife that shook Aoife into taking action and finding sanctuary with Slimming World. Aoife was 25 stone 9lb when she stepped on the scales at her 1st weigh-in and has had an astonishing weight loss of 14 stone 10lb. Aoife's weight loss and her mobility around the stairs in her home resulted in a fall midway through her weight loss journey but this didn’t stop Aoife. After falling on her staircase suffering a break to her pelvis, tailbone and fractured femur Aoife didn’t give in and the weight loss continued. A walking challenge came Aoife’s way and with improved fitness, she agreed to the challenge. Aoife had, in fact, agreed to climb the highest mountain in Ireland “Carrauntoohill”, and with no training, after all, "it was just a walk" Aoife well and truly conquered the mountain! From feeling breathless after walking 3 steps of her staircase to thousands of steps Aoife has come such a long way in more ways than one. Another wonderful lady sharing her story to inspire you into taking action….what are you waiting for!
