La ISS enfrenta graves problemas de seguridad, con fugas y grietas preocupantes   La estación espacial internacional (ISS) está mostrando signos de desgaste tras casi 25 años en órbita. NASA y Roscosmos han identificado más de 50 áreas de riesgo en su estructura, incluyendo grietas y fugas de aire en el módulo ruso Zvezda, que alberga sistemas críticos.Escúchanos en Spotify.A pesar de reparaciones temporales, como el uso de sellantes y parches, las fugas no han dejado de aumentar. Pero la viabilidad a largo plazo de esta estrategia es incierta. Expertos en seguridad, como Laura Forczyk, creen que el deterioro de la ISS y las tensiones entre EE.UU. y Rusia podrían poner fin a esta colaboración antes de lo previsto. It also looks at how the generations may differ and how that may effect future space priorities and missions.   Laura is a NASA Subject Matter Expert for planetary science missions. She serves on the advisory boards for the Lifeboat Foundation and the Society of Women in Space Exploration. She serves as a mentor for the Brooke Owens Fellowship program. She is the author of Rise of the Space Age Millennials.   Prior to forming her own company, she ran the Florida office of international startup working to establish parabolic and suborbital flight at Kennedy Space Center and globally. She has also worked as a scientific analyst for a nonprofit facilitating over 50 experiments on the International Space Station for the benefit of life on Earth.   Laura has researched astrophysics and planetary science at three NASA centers, flown two parabolic “Zero G” campaigns, conducted geological research in a meteor crater, and earned National Aerospace Training and Research (NASTAR) suborbital astronaut wings in ground training. She is a six-time U.S. Space Camp alumna, a NASA Academy alumna, a former NASA Student Ambassador, and a previous NASA Graduate Student Researchers Program fellow.   Laura earned a bachelor of science in astrophysics from Florida Institute of Technology. She earned a master of science in astrophysics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville researching high-energy emission from gamma-ray bursts. Laura shares her childhood interest in space and how this grew into a career in astrophysics. She talks about her educational background at the Florida Institute of Technology, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and the University of Central Florida. After achieving her doctoral degree, she found that she wanted to utilize her interpersonal skills. Right after having her first child, Laura started Astralytical. She discusses the need to bring humanity into the work space, especially in the science world. Laura shares her experience bringing her infants to conferences she attends. Laura talks about her clients and daily work. She says she wants to get more information out there about how we use space in our everyday lives, and hopes to grow her business in this way. Accordingly, she stresses the need for various fields as they relate to space, rather than the traditional STEM avenues of study.
