It was amazing to be back at the Cosmosphere for this event. Having the opportunity to join Jack, Milt, Emily, and David was a treat for me. I hope you enjoy this episode! Drop me a line if you're ever in Kansas, I'm always happy to drop by the Cosmosphere for tours. (As long as I'm not busy with our baby and our schedules align haha) In this episode we're joined by Emily Carney, David Hitt, John Mulnix, and via Zoom, astronaut and Skylab 3 pilot Jack Lousma and Mission Control Flight Director, Milt Windler, for “Skylab at 50: Blazing the Trail for ISS, Artemis and Beyond.” This live conversation will covered the history of Skylab and the effect its creation has had on the space program as a whole. When you think of an ocean, Earth is probably what comes to mind. But our planet isn't necessarily the only world with water. NASA notes that moons, dwarf planets and comets can sustain water in various forms, from ice to water vapor. There is a lot of excitement about moons that orbit Jupiter and Saturn, since some of these worlds potentially have water that exists in a liquid state. Last week I had the opportunity to speak with Melissa Ugelow about her work on Titan, so download this episode and learn about some of the incredible work being done to explore the moons in our outer solar system. Correction- I erroneously added Stu Roosa to the crew of Apollo 17. The Command Module Pilot for this mission was Ron Evans. I had a picture of Roosa on my display while recording and switched up their names. Check out Facebook tomorrow for an unusual picture of the Apollo 14 astronaut. I'm back from a mini-hiatus. Life and work got the best of my schedule, but I'm working to get back on track. Weekly space history episodes are starting back up now! In today's episode you'll hear from Gene Kranz. He was speaking at the Wings Over the Rockies Museum for an Apollo 11 pre-launch breakfast. We were inside a hangar, so the acoustics weren't ideal for a podcast, but it was an awesome place to be. Check out the Wings Over the Rockies museum next time you're in Colorado. There's some beautiful aircraft on display and it's worth a stop!
