Having now finished 'Lead: 12 Gospel Principles for Leadership in the Church' by Philadelphia pastor Paul David Tripp, let us do some soul searching and be Bereans about some of what is in the mix here. Much of what Tripp has to say I readily agree with - not because he said it, but because it is sound and Biblically clear-cut and incontrovertible. Unfortunately, also in the mix is a brand of woke Christianity designed to subtly but surely strip us of what the theological and political Left calls patriarchy, toxic masculinity, sexism, racism, xenophobia, et cetera. This brings me to a question my neighbor recently asked me. "...Where is the line, or points where we say 'Yeah, we may agree with them on some biblical points, but they are too far in error on these other unbiblical points, to where we cannot recommend anything they have to say?'" He asks a good and necessary question, and the answer to it may not be easy. But one thing we must know is that the Bereans in Acts are held up as an example for us. We are also warned throughout the New Testament to teach only what accords with sound doctrine, and to keep watch over our doctrine. Similarly, we are told to contend for the faith, and to confront those who are undermining the gospel of Jesus Christ which was delivered once for all, and to guard against deceptions and diversions which would fundamentally transform that gospel into something contrary to God's character, promises, and commands. The Apostle Paul's confrontation of Peter over his catering to the Judaizers at Antioch is relevant here. Substitute Woke Christians for Judaizers, and you will understand my meaning. Perhaps also the disagreement between Paul and Barnabas over what to do with John Mark should be instructive. That said, I would only recommend reading the works and listening to the words of Christian leaders on the Woke side of the fault line to mature, discerning Christians. And even there, I would strongly advise viewer discretion. Otherwise, impressionable brothers and sisters may be taken in by virtual signaling missives like this one from Paul Tripp published almost a year ago. If someone handed you a pan of brownies and you knew there was a turd hidden somewhere amidst the chocolate morsels, you might study it. But you would not consume it uncritically if you valued your health. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/support

Welcome to Clairstone!

Welcome to Clairstone! In this episode, you will learn how to use the English words "dream" and "lead".TRANSCRIPT:Hello everyone, my name is Shivika, and you are listening to the English ClAIRSTONE Podcast, where you can build the cornerstone of your English vocabulary! For all the new listeners, welcome to the community, and for our regulars, hello again! Before we start, I will remind you that we upload new episodes twice a week and there are transcripts for each podcast episode in English, Arabic, and Spanish at our website projectclair.org, so go check that out if you want to follow along!Today we will be looking at the words dream and lead. The word dream is spelled as D-R-E-A-M. Dream can be used as a noun and a verb. The first definition of the noun form of dream is someone's cherished ambition or goal. For example, “Clara dreamed of going to the olympics since she was three.' The olympics has been her goal or her ambition. Dream can also mean any thoughts, images, or sensations while someone is asleep. This definition is for both noun and verb versions of dream. For the noun version an example is, “The same dream keeps repeating every night and it is not pleasant.” In this, dream is the name of the images or feelings that the person felt. For the verb version, people describe the images and sensations while using dream to define it as an action. For example, “Stacy dreamt about video games after she fell asleep watching a movie based off of video games.” The word lead is spelled as L-E-A-D. Lead is used as a verb and can mean to guide someone through something. It can be a guide through life, school, even directions or tours. For example, “Peter led the new students for a tour around the school.” or another sentence can be “Susan became a mentor to Sarah to lead her through her college years,” Another meaning for lead can be for someone to have charge of something. For example, “Niall led the football team to victory.” This is more about getting a leadership opportunity to set an example. Well, that is it for today's episode! This was the Clairstone Podcast, and for the full transcript for all our episodes, you can click on the info icon on our platform or go to our website at projectclair.org. I hope you will start to use the words “Dream” and “Lead” in your English practice, and I will see you next time! Bye everyone!

Dan Doriani delivered a message in a breakout session at The Gospel Coalition’s 2019 National Conference titled “Only Be Strong and Courageous: Why Every Pastor Needs a Tender Heart and a Tough Hide.” The workshop explored the unique challenges faced by pastors, including five separate types of criticism. Doriani presented a composite of leaders in Scripture who are both “strong and courageous” and willing to “weep with those who weep,” Christ himself as the greatest example of one who was tough and enduring but also deeply loved those he shepherded. He also offered comfort from Scripture for hurting pastors dealing with these inevitable issues.   This episode of The Gospel Coalition podcast is brought to you by Crossway, publisher of 'Lead: 12 Gospel Principles for Leadership in the Church ' by bestselling author, Paul David Tripp. Drawing from decades of ministry experience, Tripp offers 12 gospel principles to help churches battle the issue lurking behind every pastoral failure—a lack of a strong leadership community. Tice also addressed four common responses Christians share in Britain to tougher settings for sharing the gospel that likely correspond with other Western settings, as well. And he encourages the church to develop soft hearts and tough skin around the simple idea that people without Christ spend eternity separated from God in a very real Hell. Kathleen Nielson delivered a breakout message at The Gospel Coalition’s 2019 National Conference titled “Judging Deborah: Letting the Narrative and Poetry Speak.” In her message, she laid out six basic questions to ask when studying Old Testament narrative utilizing Judges 4-5 as an example text. Narrative and poetic texts can be easily misunderstood, so Nielson encouraged the audience to relish Deborah’s story and allow her to speak from the text. Kathleen pointed out that, like all of Scripture, the text is meant to point others to the greatness of the Lord through both Deborah’s story and her song. The six questions offered a framework for understanding a narrative text and mining it for every ounce of God-glorifying truth that may possibly be uncovered. "...The great thing, in times like these, is to look to the little things: Confident in Christ’s final victory over death, secure in the knowledge that His Church shall triumph, we plug away."

Ah, podcast number one. I’m really excited to kick this show off with an interview with Leslie Peters, who is one of my favorite people! She’s a speaker, author and guide who connects with people on the edge of growth. What does that mean? Basically, she works with leaders and teams during times of change. Perfect, right? Almanac and Leslie have worked together on a few projects over the years, and she’s not only gotten to know our company really well, but I would say she’s influenced the type of company we’ve become. She helped us map our core values a couple years ago, which has been transformational for us. And she also introduced us to the Cynefin framework--a system of problem-solving that helped us get comfortable with the kind of messy, unpredictable, human work that we love doing at Almanac. And, guess what, we’re going to talk about Cynefin today, because I think you will see your work in it, and it will give you several a - ha moments, just like it did for us. Leslie's website: https://www.elementspartnership.com. Leslie's book, 'Finding Time to Lead' on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Finding-Time-Lead-Practices-Outrageous-ebook/dp/B01N5F24RU Special Guest: Leslie Peters.

What is the Culture of the Church??? Church-The word church in the Bible comes from the Greek word ecclesia, which means a called out company or assembly. Wherever it is used in the Bible it refers to people. It can be a mob (Acts 19:30-41), the children of Israel (Acts 7:38), and the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22; Ephesians 5:25, 32). The church is people!!!! Called from invited into!!! Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground." (‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭26-28‬ NIV) 3 Things Make up the Church He played A Family- He planted a family in the garden. We are called to be a family. He made us in His Likeness "We were created to host the Presence of God-When Adam breathed his first breath, the first thing he saw was the Face of God!!! Be fruitful and multiply- Expand the Family!!! Paul- It was the House of God- We are the family of God It was a Bride- Host the presence of the Bridegroom to be in Love!!! It was a Body- Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus!!! Do the work that Jesus did!!! The Wineskin or Container Or Family The Wine is the Presence "Give them a drink" But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me." (‭Ruth‬ ‭1‬:‭16-17‬ NIV) This covenant relationship set her up for her greatest moment for all of History to David to Jesus!!! When you find your people, you find your Destiny!!! Show me who you hang out with and I will tell you your calling!!! The 5 people you hang out with the most is what molds you!!! Your calling is larger than you!!! It involves people!!! Find your people!!! You can find a lot of things online, but you will not find family!!! Find your people who will sharpen you, Iron sharpens iron!!! Then the Lord said to Moses, "Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Moses said to the Lord, "You have been telling me, 'Lead these people,' but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, 'I know you by name and you have found favor with me.' The Lord replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. (‭Exodus‬ ‭33‬:‭1-2, 12, 14-15‬ NIV) We host the presence of God!!! He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. (‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ NIV) "Our Father" the family, not my father, but our!! All of creation is groaning and moaning for the Sons and Daughters of God!!!
