Every Gen-Xer who watched TV knows the words to the limited script: Boy 1: “What's this stuff?” Boy 2: “Some cereal. It''s supposed to be good for you.” Boy 1: “Are you gonna try it? Boy 2: “I'm not gonna try it. YOU try it!” Boy 1: “I'm not gonna try it.” [enter lightbulb moment/stroke of genius here] Boy 2: “I know! Let's get Mikey!” Boy 1: “He won't eat it. He hates everything.” Camera pans to Mikey, who has been given the unwanted bowl of cereal. Mikey, completely unawares, starts eating and doesn't stop. Boy 1: “He likes it!! Hey Mikey!!” Cue voiceover with a call to action about how Life Cereal is good or you, etc. Never again could four words in simple succession immediately become the catch-phrase of the era. You can read the full post here: He Likes It! Hey Mikey!

This is what we officially now know to be Anthony's red button, as well as his baseline for horrible movies. But, just like Life Cereal, Mikey likes it. Enjoy the no holds barred arguments in this one. This is...sadly....Tokyo Drift.
It is a pleasure to welcome actor Spencer Breslin to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. A talent scout discovered Spencer in a New York City playground at the age of three. He starred in over 50 commercials for Life Cereal and McDonald's. When he was four, Spencer Breslin debuted on ABC's short-lived sitcom Soul Man and appeared in the 1999 three-part horror miniseries Stephen King's Storm of the Century. Those experiences lead Spencer to star in several films, including Disney's The Kid (starring Bruce Willis), The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3 (starring Tim Allen), The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (starring Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway), and The Cat in the Hat (starring Mike Myers and Dakota Fanning). He also starred in TV series such as Bones, Center of the Universe (with John Goodman and Jean Smart), and Law & Order. In addition to his film work, Spencer Breslin has a passion for music. He released his debut folk rock album, Labor Day, in 2012 on his record label, Acadian Recording Company. Ladybug Transistor's Gary Olson recorded the album, while James William Hindle produced the record. Actor Jesse Eisenberg made a cameo on the album's ninth track: “The Patient.” In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Spencer Breslin spoke about some lessons he learned from his legendary cast members from past projects and his latest film: Murder, Anyone?
On the CBS News Weekend Roundup with host Allison Keyes; the CDC backed Pfizer's Covid19 booster shots for some Americans, including people 65 and older with underlying medical conditions -- but MedStar Health's infectious disease specialist Dr. Ruth Kanthula has some concerns. The CDC has also recommended that pregnant women get vaccinated amid a surge of coronavirus cases among them. CBS's Mireya Villarreal has one family's tragic story. President Biden gave his first address to the United Nations General Assembly this week, in hopes of convincing world leaders to join the U-S in fighting Covid19, climate change, and more. This was the first gathering in the U-N since the pandemic. CBS News Foreign Affairs Analyst Pamela Falk was there. There's controversy over the Biden administration's handling of the humanitarian crisis of the Southern border, where thousands of mostly Haitian migrants gathered in a tent city under a bridge in Del Rio. The president took responsibility Friday after scathing criticism from politicians and advocacy groups over images of border patrol agents using horse reins to menace Black migrants surfaced. Del Rio's Mayor says the camp has been cleared but some are still hiding. In a special report for National Hispanic Heritage Month, CBS's Lisa Mateo tells us banks are not stepping up to help finance the rapidly growing number of Latino owned businesses. On Thursday, aviation leaders testified before Congress about the record surge of incidents involving violent passengers. CBS's Errol Barnett reports. More than 13-hundred people have been killed by police officers since the murder of George Floyd. CBS's Kris Van Cleave looks at how some police departments are moving ahead with reforms, despite a breakdown in Congressional efforts to overhaul policing. CBS's Janet Shamlian reports on the ripple effect from the Texas abortion law as the U-S House passes legislation to protect abortion services. In this week's Kaleidoscope, we discuss the nation's fascination with the case of Gabby Petito, the white woman who was found dead after her fiancé returned from their road trip without her. Allison speaks with Jolene Holgate at the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women about why women of color aren't given the same resources as whites when they vanish. The lights on Broadway are back on -- and so are the long awaited Tony Awards. CBS's Dana Tyler has a preview. If you remember the 70's commercial for Life Cereal, a new ice cream shop in New York City will have you feeling nostalgic. CBS's Vladimir Duthiers gets a taste. Finally, we pay tribute to Melvin Van Peebles, the filmmaker known as the "godfather of modern Black cinema," whose best known movie was "Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song." It’s Francophonie Day. It’s Happiness Day. It’s wear real pants that aren’t sweats day. It’s Francophone Week! It’s the First Day of Spring!!! There are lots of Frenches, just like lots of Englishes. Isabelle explains some of that. I’ve been riding my bike on my trainer, feels great. This is the least snowy winter we’ve had since we moved back. Mask compliance was ok, though I saw one guy slip his down TO TALK TO SOMEONE at the grocery store and one guy just plain not wearing a mask. The sign made a Life Cereal pull. Arrow compliance was good at 70%
