In this episode, we dive into the story of Mary and unpack what it really looked like for her to say a wholehearted “yes” to God. We talk about how Mary responded with trust instead of fear when the angel Gabriel told her she would carry Jesus, and how her curiosity and surrender opened the door for God to move in miraculous ways. From the stable in Bethlehem to the foot of the cross, Mary's life reminds us what it means to faithfully follow Jesus through the beautiful, confusing, ordinary, and heartbreaking moments. We also get super honest about the tension of trusting God when life feels unclear. From navigating relationships and fear to letting go of control and choosing faith over anxiety, we reflect on how Mary continually brought her heart to God instead of running from Him. If you're in a season where you're asking God for clarity, courage, or deeper trust, we hope this conversation leaves you feeling encouraged to lean in closer and say yes to wherever He's leading you. 828 But Mary Treasured Up All These Things, Pondering Them in Her Heart, A Guided Christian Meditation on Luke 2:19-21 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in  and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ.  Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization.  You can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tense or unrelaxing.  If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.   Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:   Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate,  deflate. Scripture for Meditation ESV 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. 21 And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. KJV 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. 21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. Reflection on Scripture: Mary treasured these things, pondering them in her heart. She felt the kicks of the baby Jesus and her womb carried the Son of God. What amazing things she had to ponder in her heart. Some of it was the experience of bearing Jesus. She also saw heavenly messengers. She received messages that are written and likely had experiences that have not been recorded anywhere but in her heart. Imagine if a short book was written about your life, perhaps a few chapters. Do you think that could possibly reflect everything you thought or experienced?  Restrict it even further. Imagine writing a couple chapters about a vacation. You couldn't even capture everything from a simple human trip to a tourist spot. Imagine now an encounter with the divine. Imagine months and then years with the young Jesus. It is impossible to imagine what she pondered in her heart. What special unique blessings were meant just for her. Imagine her holding the damp child. Imagine her holding him in her arms. The feeling of responsibility resting on her of raising a child and not just any child but the very son of God.  Invariably you have had unique experiences meant just for you. Do we spend time to treasure them in our hearts and ponder them? Take the time now to think of the interactions with God that you have experienced. What ways has He touched your heart? How has God been present in your life? Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Final Question: If you consider the invitation and command to persevere in the faith, what change in your life does that bring to your mind?  FIND ME ON: Download my free app: Recenter with Christ Website - ChristianMeditationPodcast.com Voicemail - (602) 888-3795 Email: jared@christianmeditationpodcast.com Apple Podcasts - Christian Meditation Podcast Facebook.com/christianmeditationpodcast Youtube.com/christianmeditaitonpodcast Twitter - @ChristianMedPod

And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.Deinde dicit discipulo : Ecce mater tua. Et ex illa hora accepit eam discipulus in sua.Mary began her journey along the road to perfection at a height to which other saints arrived only at the end of a long life of saintliness. In all other children of Adam original sin prevented the divine generosity from having a free course. But Mary was created immaculate, and therefore the grace of God streamed into her soul without check or hindrance. Her sinlessness, her heavenly purity, directed every action, every moment to God. Her Heart was the pattern and model of all virtues, of all purity! "Blessed are the pure in heart!"

It's Emma's (belated) birthday! For her first episode of the season, she's showcasing her “birthday twin:” the one and only Janis Joplin. Though her career lasted just four short years, it was no less transformative; feeding the nation's appetite for blues rock and making a bookish girl from Texas into a generational icon. Everything about Janis, from her big heart to her fiery soul, embodied the spirit of the counterculture 60s. It's a story of pain, passion, and a woman's sheer power. “Janis Joplin: Piece of Her Heart” is available NOW wherever you stream your podcasts ❤️‍

This follows the arrest of 17-year-old Scott Foor last week. Both suspects are McEachern students. The victims, not McEachern students, were involved in an altercation with a McEachern student when the shooting occurred. Authorities clarified that the incident was targeted, and there's no broad threat to other students. The incident occurred at Beck's apartment near Kennesaw State University. Despite a phone call indicating resolution, Beck shot Wackermann six times about 10 minutes later. Beck did not call 911, and police were notified over an hour later. Wackermann was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Police discovered marijuana, THC cartridges, firearms, and evidence of drug sales in Beck's residence. The Sartys left the Capitol after police deployed riot control agents. Over 1,300 individuals have been charged in connection with the Capitol breach. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by officials and community members, with Birrell expressing her lifelong love for animals and dedication to supporting the police. Commissioner Keli Gambrill, overseeing the district where the kennel is located, honored Birrell with the naming, highlighting her longstanding support for the K-9 unit. Cobb Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer praised Birrell's continuous advocacy for the department. The event concluded with a ribbon cutting, celebrating Birrell's commitment to public safety and animals. This marks the third premature vacancy in three years. Qualifying for the election will be held on March 4, 5, and 6, with a fee of $360. Bianca Serratore: Fully Alive — A Yes in Her Heart. ‘Love driven obedience' is when we can give God our yes because we know His nature: He is kind, He is loving and He is good. When we know this we can say yes, even when the yes is costly. The more we see God —see His true nature — the more we overflow in that yes. The source of our obedience comes from intimacy, and we become driven by devotion. It is then that we can lay down our gifts and calling and discover His plans are so much bigger and better.

Margaret Maria is a wonderful cellist who's a unique composer. Her compositions are all written by layering cello lines in some gorgeous and emotive aural tapestries. Her personal story is interesting and moving: she started the cello as a teenager, was admitted to the University of Toronto at age 16 without graduating from high school, and was then admitted to the prestigious Curtis Institute. She went on to have a successful career as a member of the Vancouver Symphony and then Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra, which is how I came to know her. She gave up her job with the NAC after a few years, and embarked on a new life as a composer, meanwhile continuing to teach. Some of her work as an educator has been with the Orkidstra program, which she has been involved with since it's inception in 2007. Something that my season seven guest Ivan Anderson said that stuck with me, was that “Listen to Her Heart” is a 'little' song. And by that, he wasn't being dismissive. Ivan gives me his answers to my formulaic 10 questions. This is almost always a highlight of every conversation as it reveals so much about the person I'm talking to and where their brain takes them. Ivan's answer to "If you could pick any artist to cover any Tom Petty song, who would it be and what song would they cover?" is brilliantly aligned with his own off-kilter way of creating music. He also eschews the easy response to question 5!Quick note - there is some profanity in this episode, but it's not aggressive or gratuitous!Listen to Her Heart: https://youtu.be/EINdLqmcYH0Cyberattack website: https://cyberattack.world/Don't forget to follow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectTwitter: https://twitter.com/TomPettyProjectInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyproject/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt6BLRWuuAR43zHpNKIirOwAll music, including the theme song, provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. Today's episode features a wide ranging chat with the uniquely brilliant Ivan Anderson, the genius behind the Glitch Rock band Cyberattack and an all round wonderful fella. On his debut album under the Cyberattack monicker, Ivan covered Listen to Her Heart, which is how his work circled into my orbit. Not only does he find an incredibly angle on the song, but he also created a beautifully chaotic and inventive music video to go along with it, which I've linked in the episode notes. My main hope from this episode is that you all start listening to Ivan's work and get to know what Glitch Rock is in the same way I did!Quick note - there is some profanity in this episode, but it's not aggressive or gratuitous!Listen to Her Heart: https://youtu.be/EINdLqmcYH0Cyberattack website: https://cyberattack.world/Don't forget to follow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectTwitter: https://twitter.com/TomPettyProjectInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyproject/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt6BLRWuuAR43zHpNKIirOwAll music, including the theme song, provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. At first, I thought Shelley Shepard Gray was a new-to-me author, but I believe I've read at least one of The Heart of a Hero series books (not to mention a couple of others look really familiar). Her new Season in Pinecraft (an Amish snowbird community) series features Amish wallflowers who just can't live down something in their pasts and how Shelley helps them rise above it--even if it's a bit later than expected. Listen in to see what happens! Note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you! Are You Ready for a Delightful New Amish Series? Shelley Shepard Gray has a wide variety of fiction--romantic suspense, contemporary romance, Amish suspense, Amish romance... so many! We chatted about what book to start with if you have never read anything by her and want something to go to after you check out Her Heart's Desire and while you wait for the next Season in Pinecraft book this summer. Shelley's suggestion was Edgewater Road (the sequel comes out in February, so not a long wait!) Like I told Shelley, she has a nice long backlist calling you.  Two books a month should get most of it read for you! How's that for cool?  The year of Shelley Shepard Gray! Sounds good to me. Seriously, who wouldn't want to read a series about Amish wallflowers? Girls who have something to live down and because of it, they're overlooked? Yes, please!  Especially since in Her Heart's Desire, the young man who sees Mary Margaret for herself isn't...  um... available.  Or is he? Her Heart's Desire by Shelley Shepard Gray Mary Margaret Miller needs an escape from her small Amish community. She boards a bus, all alone, for a vacation in Pinecraft, Florida. Meeting Betsy and Lilly on the way, she's amazed to find two kindred spirits. They become fast friends and determine to have the best two weeks of their lives. For Mary, it starts when she meets Jayson Raber. The handsome and charming carpenter is taken by Mary from the get-go, but he has responsibilities back home in Kentucky--including a girl he's supposed to marry. When someone from Mary's past shows up in Pinecraft, it seems like her perfect vacation is ruined. But that's nothing compared to what's coming when she realizes what Jayson has been hiding. Take a vacation with New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray as she explores what happens when we allow our pasts to define our futures in this story of friendship, romance, and new beginnings. Imagining the Wonderment and Joy in Heaven on the Day of the Assumption of Our Lady! Mary set out in haste to the hillside . . . to go higher. Today's amazing Gospel reading is remarkable. We hear Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth. Jesus is clothed, hidden within Mary as she sets forth on her journey. Jesus is hidden … but present. As Mary arrives at her cousin's home, so too does Jesus. Today, we celebrate another going up of Our Lady. Our Lady is always moving upward with a certain haste. Her Spirit . . . Her Heart is always elevated. She is always seeking after the things of Heaven. She who has the Lord enclosed within her, allows Him to lift her spirit ever higher. The Queen of Heaven Arrives in Heaven On this day we celebrate Our Lady's Assumption. On this day she is born as she rises to heaven by the wings of angels and her Son. She who bore the Lord, is in turn, born by Him into Heaven. Hear more about this glorious feast day within the Homily. We hear in scripture, how Elizabeth is overjoyed at the presence of Our Lady. The unborn St. John jumps for joy as well. Now imagine the angels' joy and all of heaven when Our Lady arrives. The Queen of Heaven arrives in heaven . . . the angels must have jumped for joy on this day. Our Lady is not a visitor to heaven . . . she now resides in heaven. The sounds of Our Lady's greeting . . . upon hearing this, imagine the joy in the hearts of heaven. Hear more within the Homily. Imagine the Wonderment in Heaven We hear about the wonderment of Abraham, and of David. Imagine the wonder of James the Apostle, who knew her on earth. Imagine Adam and Eve as they look in wonderment, because she has arrived. They look in wonderment and see what God's plan is for all. If Elizabeth reacted in joy, how much more so will heaven jump for joy at the arrival of Our Lady! Hear more and imagine. Hear more and share in the wonderment. Listen to this Meditation Media.

The next piece of our identity in Christ is that we have been seated in heavenly places with Jesus (see Eph. 2:5-6). This is important because it is from this place we live, serve, worship, pray, and are in a relationship with God. We aren't working for it.   From = already given and dependant upon the finished work of Jesus. For = working, earning, trying to achieve and dependant upon ourselves   Some things mentioned in this week's episode are taken from Susan's book, Her Heart is Free.  You can find any of her books, including her newest devotional, Bold and Daring Faith, at https://www.amazon.com/Susan-Vandenheuvel/e/B08W9DS44C?ref_=pe_1724030_132998060.   Learn more about Susan and her ministry, She Rises, at https://www.sherisesmn.org/.
