In this episode, we're going to explore the power of being fully present with the painful emotions we experience and how, exactly, to do this (as well as how not to do it). This topic might seem like an oddly placed one in the midst of a season of episodes that's intended to be geared towards conscious relationships. And yet, the truth is that emotional opposites are intimately entangled. Painful emotions and pleasurable emotions are, in essence, two sides of the same dualistic coin. And that's why this episode is included here in the midst of a season about conscious relationships, love, connection, etc. Because to love more consciously we must bring more consciousness to all of our feeling experiences—the painful ones included.ResourcesFocusing ResourcesFocusing Therapy: The Classic Six StepsFocusing-Oriented Therapy Instructions (PDF guide)Focusing-Oriented Therapy One: Learning How the Body Speaks and Listening so it Heals (workshop)Podcast EpisodesEp. 92: Beyond Victimhood—Reclaiming and revealing your own inner HeroEp. 88: Healing Beyond Shame: How shame sustains shadow repression + how to disintegrate 'Shamewalls'Ep. 32: Spiritual Bypassing and the Fragmented SelfEp. 10: Triggered: Using emotional triggers as a roadmap to healingReclamation Radio by Dr. Kelly Brogan: Ep. 100—How to Stop Repeating Toxic Relationship PatternsBooksHow to Be Loving* by Daniella LaPorteHow to Do the Work* by Dr. Nicole LePeraThe Surrender Experiment* by Michael A. In this episode, we're going to explore the concept of emotional addiction. Season 4 is all about conscious relationships—with loved ones, partners, family members, friends, colleagues, and perhaps most importantly, with ourselves. The better we know ourselves and the more we understand how this human body computer system that we inhabit works, the more consciously we're able to show up in all aspects of our lives, relationships included. Welcome to season 4 of The Soul Horizon podcast! We're kicking this season off with an episode that lays the foundation for many if not all of the episodes to come this season. We're exploring the concept of spiritual choice and free will. Specifically, the idea of choosing between what's known as the vertical path and the horizontal path. Simply put, walking the vertical path is a soul-led or heart-guided process, whereas walking the horizontal path is a personality or ego-led process. In the words of Zukav (The Seat of the Soul p. 227):When you depend entirely upon the ability of your personality to determine what is best for you, you may stand in the way of a richness that is waiting for you.And this is exactly why committing to the vertical path is so profoundly empowering, enlivening, and expansive. Loving the people the mind deems "loveable" is an easy task. Loving those who rub the mind the wrong way is difficult. And yet doing so is the truest testament to the meaning of love. To love someone who isn't easily “lovable” by the mind's standards is to access the depths of love from the space of the heart. In this episode, we'll explore the differences between these two types of love and examine the power of heart-based love and its potential to heal the planet.SourcesChildre, D. Are you living to survive or are you living to thrive? The more attached we are to our identities, beliefs, roles, possessions, stories, etc., the more we're throttled into survival mode. Freeing ourselves to thrive, then, is a matter of lovingly letting go of and loosening our grip on the ego's most engrained attachments. Note: One of the quotes I share in this episode contains a swear word (a gentle one, all things considered), but please beware in case you're sensitive or in case you're listening around little ears!About a month ago, I was scrolling through Instagram and came across a quote that read,"Unconditional love does not mean unconditional tolerance."It got me to thinking... Unconditional love is something that's spoken about a lot, especially in spiritual circles. But the loose and flowing nature of its definition has made it susceptible to misinterpretation. It's imperative that we recognize and honor this distinction between unconditional love and unconditional tolerance—the former fosters unity consciousness whereas the latter can lead us to linger in toxic or even dangerous situations. In this episode, we explore unconditional love, unconditional tolerance, and the vast but often overlooked differences that separate these two distinct energies.SourcesLaPorte, D. Whether we believe it or not, we're entirely capable of offering ourselves the love and fulfillment we want... or even crave from someone else. We're entirely capable of loving ourselves in all the ways we've hoped another person would love us. This realization is an extraordinarily powerful and empowering one.Because...When we know how to fill our own cup so fully and completely—when we know how to give ourselves the love we want—we stop needing someone else to do it for us. It's from this place of deep and profound self-love that if and when love shows up externally, we're able to embrace it with open, unclenched and uncontrolling arms. Because when we love ourselves this fully we're able to appreciate the love of another in a way that perpetually frees that person to exist as they are. Our love for another then is no longer capable of being selfishly shaped into something that meets our needs at the cost of the other's freedom, because our needs have already been met by us.It's also from this place that we're able to choose—freely and with intention—the partnerships that deeply and profoundly nourish our souls (as opposed to clinging to relationships out of fear because we're not sure who we'll be without them).I believe that loving ourselves unconditionally—or simply having the genuine and committed intention to do so and acting upon it regularly (this is a journey)—serves as the foundation for unconditionally loving romantic partnerships. In this episode, we're exploring the traps of victim consciousness and how the reclamation of our power begins the moment we begin to opt out of victim-victimizer dynamics.Because the truth is that when we outsource the problem, we outsource the solution too. And if we are to become the hero of our own story, we must reclaim our power by taking full, unbridled ownership over our life. To own the trajectory of our life, we must first own ourselves. And to do that, we've got to stop pointing the finger at anyone. Not in a shame-inducing, admonishing way but rather in a compassionate, empowering, and self-loving way. In this episode, we'll explore the idea of harnessing the power of quantum manifestation to manifest a life we feel completely and totally in love regardless of what's going on in our outer world. In other words, we're flipping the script on manifestation so that energetic (feeling-based / heart-led) manifestation is the primary goal with material (thought-based / head-led) manifestation being the secondary goal.Ironically, flipping the manifestation script to focus on our inner reality first makes manifesting the outer reality we desire easeful, fun, and rather effortless. So material manifestation then becomes a secondary benefit rather than a secondary goal, because manifesting our outer desires is a natural and easeful consequence once we've embodied the inner feeling state that's a clear match for the outer. In fact, manifesting through the heart in this way is how we end up manifesting materially beyond what the mind could have ever initially expected or hoped for. Manifesting the inner state of miracles is the effortless path to manifesting material miracles.Continued Reading + ResourcesBooksBreaking the Habit of Being Yourself* by Dr. Joe DispenzaBecoming Supernatural* by Dr. Joe DispenzaYou Are the Placebo* by Dr. Joe DispenzaChange Your Paradigm, Change Your Life* by Bob Proctor The Untethered Soul* by Michael A. This week, we're revisiting an episode from season 1! I hope you enjoy this episode on Quantum Manifestation from season 1. Manifestation is the idea that we're capable of creating our reality through our thoughts and feelings. You might know it as Law of Attraction or 'The Secret'. The Secret, though, mostly zeroed in on manifesting material gain—money, houses, shiny objects. It oversimplifies the concept and orients it around the physical, three-dimensional world. In this episode, we're dissolving the myth that everything that happens in life—good or bad—is a result of manifestation. There are two caveats to manifestation. Becoming aware of these caveats offers us a fresh perspective on manifestation and removes the common New Age shame and guilt that is typically associated with the New Age understanding of Law of Attraction. We also dig below the surface to examine the interplay between quantum mechanics and manifestation, and how to create a signal so clear, so concise that it reaches into the quantum field and pulls our desires into physical reality before our eyes.SourcesDispenza, J. This is an impromptu mini episode that was inspired by an experience I had while on a run a couple weekends ago. The statement that kept circling through my mind intuitively after this experience was:"We become the light when we're no longer afraid of the dark. Ironically, the dark runs from that." And that about sums up what this episode is about. The day after I recorded this episode, I read an excerpt in the book The Untethered Soul* (pp. 135–136) by Michael A. Singer that felt so aligned to the message and affirmed this idea of needing to run towards what we fear in order to set ourselves free. Here are bits and pieces from that snippet:“If anything can cause disturbance inside of you, it means it hit your model. It means it hit the false part of you that you built in order to control your own definition of reality… learn to be comfortable with psychological disturbance. Of course this will be painful. The reason you built the whole mental structure was to avoid pain. If you let it fall apart, you're going to feel the pain that you were avoiding when you built it. You must be willing to face this pain… ...The way out is through awareness. Stop defining the disturbed mind as a negative experience; just see if you can relax behind it. When your mind is disturbed, don't ask, ‘What do I do about this?' Instead ask, ‘Who am I that notices this?'… If you want permanent peace, permanent joy, and permanent happiness, you have to get through to the other side of the inner turmoil... ...You do that by letting go of the tendency to cling. You do it by not using your mind to build false solidity. You just decide, once and for all, to take the journey by constantly letting go. At this point, the journey becomes very quick. You will go through the part of you that has always been scared to death, and you'll see how that part has always struggled to hold it all together. If you don't feed that part, if you just keep letting go and don't cling, eventually you will fall behind the false solidity.” ________________*This is an affiliate link. This week, we're revisiting an episode from the first season of The Soul Horizon. This episode offers a foundation for the information we'll be covering in next week's episode. Next week's episode will be a deep dive into the subconscious mind and how we can leverage the power (and brilliance) of the subconscious to invoke powerful, long-lasting, and life-transforming change. Here's what this current "revisit" episode is about...By the time we're 35 years old, 95% of who we believe we are is merely a memorized pattern of beliefs, behaviors, and emotions. This is why real, lasting change is so difficult. The thing is though, we're entirely capable of awe-inspiring changes and shifts at any age. But we've got to know what we're working with first. We need to know what stands in our way. In other words, we must know the enemy before we can determine the best course of action in becoming our own hero. The truth is...Most of us hit the age of 35 and from that point forward, simply become an increasingly concentrated version of whoever we were then. But it's not by choice. It's by repetition. And knowing the cause is the key to reversing it.SourcesDispenza, J. (2018). *Breaking the habit of being yourself: How to lose your mind and create a new one. The main question we'll be answering in this episode is: Is the brain the producer of consciousness or the receiver of it? To answer this question, we'll explore the two primary theories on consciousness—the reductionist or materialist model and the holographic, spiritualist, or non-local model. We'll then dive deep into the spiritualist model of consciousness and explore a specific, prevailing theory within the broader spiritualist take on consciousness. Namely the holographic model of consciousness. And how this model of consciousness easily solves the so-called 'unsolvable' mysteries of our time.*Note: Although hallucinogenic substances are referenced in this episode, I haven't used them myself and am not in any way suggesting you do so. However, I do recommend trying (only if it's safe for you to do so) holotropic breath work if you're interested in inducing an altered state of consciousness.SourcesRadin, D. There are many, many forms of psi phenomena but the main forms of psi, referred to as the 'Big Five," are:TelepathyClairvoyancePrecognitionTelekinesisHealingThe first three pertain to the transference of information and fall within the subcategory of ESP. The last two pertain to the transference of energy and fall within the subcategory of PK or psychokinesis. In today's conversation, we explore phenomena in the ESP category. In the episode, we examine laboratory evidence, consider how discoveries in the field of quantum physics might be able to explain the existence of psi phenomena, and discuss ways to open to or enhance your own ESP abilities.Sources and all mentioned links, documents, and websites (it was too long to include).Disclaimer: This podcast is intended for entertainment and informational purposes only and does not substitute individual psychological advice.

In this episode, we're exploring the Zero-Point Field (ZPF). There are many theories on what, exactly, the Zero-Point Field does. Most simply put though, the Zero-Point Field can be thought of as a universal information field from which everything is created and thereby connected as well. The ZPF is the non-local tapestry of infinite and limitless information that appears to be the foundation for reality itself. This field is everywhere and yet nowhere at once, because it exists outside the bounds of space and time. The nonlocal and limitless information stored within the Zero-Point Field appears to generate the entirety of this holographic Universe we exist within.Continued Reading + ResourcesLaszlo, E. (2007). This episode is written with the intention of exploring the middle ground between orthodox religion and orthodox science. For those who believe that this experience we call 'life' is both deeply meaningful and meant to be explored through the veracity of freedom, sovereignty, and authentic expression. For those searching for the middle ground where science and spirituality (as well as the belief in God) cannot only coexist but can actually coalesce to support one another in an explanation of reality that upholds our existence as being deeply meaningful and profound. An explanation that suggests that our lives, our creativity, and even our seemingly mundane experiences are unique, individuated expressions of the Divine—of God Source Consciousness—itself. In this episode, we'll embark on a sort of time-displacing odyssey in which we consider the idea—based on scientific discoveries and paradigm-shattering theories—that linear time is nothing more than an intricate and clever illusion. A trick of the mind per se. What does it mean for this to be true and how might we evolve our own perspective so that we can free ourselves to live beyond the illusion of time? We'll explore all this and more.Continued Reading + ResourcesChopra, D. and Kafatos, M. (2017). You Are the Universe: Discovering Your Cosmic Self and Why It Matters. My intention with this episode is to open your mind to the multidimensional nature of reality. To breakthrough the outmoded barriers of naïve realism. The ones that suggest that our five human senses provide us with direct awareness of objects as they really are. It's naïve realism that's left us bought into the illusion that reality is limited to only that which we can perceive through the limitations of the human nervous system.Broadly speaking though, my hope is to inspire you to shift your perception beyond the status quo belief that we live in a purely physical reality. Over a hundred years ago, science turned this idea on its head and dismantled it, yet we still haven't caught up. And I'd say it's about time we get ourselves caught up…Because until we do, we'll mistake illusion for reality.Perhaps even more importantly though…When our view of reality is fragmented (seeing reality as made up of separate physical objects), our view of self and others is fragmented as well. We see ourselves as being separate from all else as opposed to one whole part of an even greater whole. And it's separation consciousness that's the root of all suffering.I believe that peering beyond the illusion of physicality—and the illusion of separation that it invokes—is the first step towards unity consciousness on this planet.SourcesChopra, D.
