Joey joins Michelle & Carey to talk about the Blues dropping their 6th straight game, the evolution of the cronut, this still being a team in transition with multiple core players free agents next year, why he thinks the younger players might start seeing the ice less, Berube being a very tough spot with this roster right now, chalking up a lot of that game and these losses to bad luck but seeing the effort there for a lot of the game, just focusing on 1 goal, then 1 period, then 1 game and moving on from there, why he thinks a tough matchup in Boston on Monday could be just what they need and the lowdown on a Halloween prank on Monday that everyone but Joey loved.
Coach Stugart joins Michelle & Carey to talk about another win for the Lions, the big jump in attendance being partly D1 but also a huge factor is the constant support from the administration, if he thinks they could have a shot at a playoff spot and his expectations for this weekend's matchup vs. Tennessee Tech.
Greg is a little down as he joins Michelle & Carey to talk about his anti-celebration from the combined no-hitter last night, the Phillies going from 5 HRs to getting no-hit the very next night, Dusty Baker's management across the last two days, the incredible way that players can completely forget things from one night to another (and how that's a good thing), thinking the Cardinals will stick with their current OF group and Trea Turner being the one big move that the Cardinals need to make (and then Greg predicts it'll happen).
John Kelly joins Michelle & Carey to talk about the line changes and combinations going into the Islanders matchup tonight, what he's seen from the blues struggles over the last 5 games and his thoughts on Army's view of the issues, Ryan O'Reilly putting a lot of blame on himself but needing to see it form everyone, how he sees tonight's matchup against an improved Islanders squad and not putting the blame on Binnington after the recent poor games.
Claibs joins Michelle & Carey to talk about Arenado opting-in to his contract, if he's surprised that their were no changes to the money on the deal, how it shows Arenado wanting and expecting more from the Cardinals this offseason, the Blues playing with a complete lack of emotion and why fans are always so ready to overreact.
Kerbs joins Michelle & Carey to bring a little silver lining to the Blues recent struggles after their post-game comments on Saturday, the Blues not being built for a shot-in-the-mouth but needing to slowly and surely get back to their game, his thoughts on the effort level from the Blues over the last few games, if Kyrou getting his offensive game going means the rest of his game will follow, the goaltending only being an issue in Nashville so far and how he expects them to come out against the Kings.
I will be back soon. For now I'm focusing on my other podcast Michelle Carey's Thoughts & Rambles. I can't do it all and I'm doing so much. LUKE SHANAHAN: Luke has been a film-maker ever since his dad took him to see Star Wars when he was a young-un. After a film school stint and with a strong love of telling dark tales with some home truths, his critically acclaimed short films, THE NEWS, PET and THE FIRST DATE brought the worlds attention to Luke's work and his first feature, the haunting thriller RABBIT starring Adelaide Clemens, Alex Russell and Veerle Baetens, premiered at MIFF (Melbourne Film Festival) in 2017 and was named one of the stand-outs of the festival by artistic director, Michelle Carey. With two new features close to production, Shanahan recently was awarded the ADG (Australian Directors Guild) award for Best Direction in a Commercial (2020) for his NZ Post campaign. Represented by SCOUNDREL for commercial work and MOSAIC for drama, he still loves Star Wars although David Lynch and Kubrick did sneak in there for influence. BEN RENNIE: Ben dreamed of being a professional cricketer, then realised a weekend in the hot sun dressed in cricket whites was everything he didn't want in life. Now a dad to three teens, Ben is a professional advisor, CEO, board member & entrepreneur. He speaks publicly and in the media on the emergence of technology & design to solve complex problems. Ben works with Ray-Ban, BHP, Kellogg's, Westpac and Patagonia, to name a few, and is the CEO role at RENY® and a partner in ELECTRIC eyewear. Ben spends valuable time on the boards of Skin Check Champions and the Chumpy Pullin Foundation. He still watches cricket and dreams of being in the big bash!
Tim Ross (aka Rosso) has done it all so it should come as no surprise that we catch up with him in the palatial surrounds of a Bellingen motel room to talk about all things, Tim. From his beginnings in "stand-up" comedy to becoming one of Australia's most successful radio hosts and with TV shows in-between, we chat with him about how to transition your career, his love of design and architecture and just how to bloody swear with panache and style.Ever the Renaissance man, Tim tackles our big question with thought-provoking ideas, wondering just how cavemen might have fared in these COVID times while at the same time pondering if there is in fact any (real) difference between a car salesman and a politician.Rosso began his career performing stand-up comedy as part of the very successful double act, Merrick and Rosso in the early '90s. More recently he is best known for his passion for architecture and design, presenting the ABC series, Streets of Your Town whilst also performing live shows in some of Australia's most important houses. In addition, Rosso has become an influential voice for the preservation of historical landmarks in Australia. ----------------------LUKE SHANAHAN: Luke has been a film-maker ever since his dad took him to see Star Wars when he was a young-un. Scott Maggs, (AKA Jimmy Niggles) sold his beard for a lot of money. A real lot. $1,013,970 to be exact. That's how much the prized and very manicured beard of Scott's was sold for after 11 years of love and nurture. But the money wasn't for Jimmy (or Scott). It goes to the cause he helped create to try and eradicate skin cancer, a deeply personal journey for him as he lost his close friend in 2010 to melanoma - a spot on his mate's neck that appeared harmless until it was too late. This episode talks about loss, creativity, letting go, saving lives, creating lives and the joys of drinking beer in paper bags. In a deeply honest and raw conversation, Scott talks about how he came to let go of the persona of (Jimmy Niggles) to really grow into the man who created it all - Scotty Maggs. ----------------------LUKE SHANAHAN: Luke has been a film-maker ever since his dad took him to see Star Wars when he was a young-un. Within 2 years, they were full time in the profession and have won many awards. Get the book - http://JackieUlmer.com/thatguy Part 2 Show Notes #1 The Social Media Spammer - when you post all about your opportunity before you make your list and contact people individually, you send out a red flag right up front as why they may not want to take your call. Instead share lifestyle photos, and engaging posts that create curiosity and not raise red flags. Take it off of social media as soon as you can and off of Facebook Messenger. Make a phone call or do a Skype call. Choose your “friends” on Facebook wisely and vet them out based on whether you can be of a mutual benefit if you don’t really know each other. Jackie shares that she is cleaning up her own friend’s list and won’t accept friends who have nothing but business info on their profile. #2 The Long Winded Writer - know when to take it off social media. Set appointments through messenger and then get on the phone, and don’t be a motor mouth though the written word. Michelle shares a great technique for contacting those who you have not connected with for awhile and using the third party approach about expanding her business in their area. #3 - Negative Nancy and Poor Me Paul - we’ve all had them, those who just whine about everything, especially on Social Media. Instead of thinking - “I have to…” think - I get to….” If no one is willingly following you, you may want to look inward and see if you might be putting off some negative energy. #4 - The Stalker - the one who takes the concept of follow up too far. Keep in touch, but make it about more than just the business. Become a friend and remain interested. Thanks for listening to Part 2, join us for part 3! And listen to Part 1 here! You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 244 and on today’s show, I am thrilled to be bringing you a 3 part series in an interview with Adam and Michelle Carey, authors of the new book - Don’t be That Guy in Network Marketing. We’ll be covering my favorite chapters. Need some coaching to move you forward? My one on one and inner circle programs are LIVE! Don’t be That Guy in Network Marketing Adam and Michelle Carey started their network marketing career in 2008, during the financial crisis that swept the nation. Adam was a luxury boat salesman and needless to say, that industry went quiet for awhile. They were introduced to network marketing by Adam’s mom, and while they were not fast starters, they stuck with it, and after 2 years, they had a stable business and were on their way. They’ve learned a lot and now they share some solid ideas with all of us in Direct Sales to help us not fall into those pitfalls that can make the journey more difficult. Get the book - http://JackieUlmer.com/thatguy Part 1 Show Notes Adam and Michelle share their story and background. And, they share the power in having a mentor, and eliminating bills and distractions so they could fully focus on the business. Their backs were against the wall, and they came out with a full court press. Their mentor was someone a little further upline who took them under her wing and taught them how to be successful in Network Marketing. She had a lot of credibility and experience in business. Don’t Be That Guy in Network Marketing - your guide to network marketing etiquette; 21 common mistakes that will label you as “that guy!” Adam and Michelle became student’s of the profession and believe that is a key part of their success. They attended a lot of trainings, driving 3 hours once a month and learned the same stuff each time, over and over. The simple fundamentals of the business. Our whole goal in the Network Marketing profession is to get people to just take a look. That is it. #1 The Sneak Attack MLMer - the people who hide the fact that their company is a network marketing company. They use fancy terms to avoid saying - this is network marketing. “I believe to be successful you must live your life unoffended and unashamed.” #2 The Lack Listener - focus on being interested and not so worried about how interesting you are. Ask good questions, be a good listener and pay attention. “Connecting is the ability to identify with people and relate to them in a way that increases your influence with them.” Know how to get people to like you. #3 - The Motor Mouth - don’t oversell people and don’t confuse the invitation with the network marketing presentation. Don’t give out business cards and information, get to know them, and ask for theirs. Ask questions, and share stories. Use the tools, don’t BE a tool! No matter how good you are at giving a presentation, let the tools do the work. Qualify people very well before you make the call. Let them know you are serious and time is precious. How you are taking people through the system is training them on how they will build the business. Thanks for listening to Part 1, join us for part 2 and 3! I LOVE and appreciate reviews!
