"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you." – Matthew 6:33This verse calls us to put God's Kingdom first in every aspect of our lives—including our investments—trusting that He will provide and use our efforts to advance His purposes. Today, Will Lofland joins us to share how that's happening right now. Will Loftland is the Managing Director of Investments Distribution at GuideStone Funds, an underwriter of Faith & Finance. He also oversees GuideStone's shareholder advocacy strategy and represents the firm as a participant in the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility.Who Is Guidestone?Guidestone is more than a financial services firm—it's a ministry to ministries. It is focused on serving ministries in all financial aspects of their work, including retirement plans, insurance solutions, wealth management, and the nation's largest Christian-screened mutual fund family.By equipping ministries with financial stability and security, Guidestone helps leaders focus more fully on spreading the gospel. Their services are designed to remove the weight of financial anxiety so that pastors, missionaries, and nonprofit leaders can flourish in their callings. What makes Guidestone unique is its unwavering commitment to honoring God with every dollar invested. That's where Guidestone's Kingdom Causes program comes in.Born out of the Impact Funds initiative, Kingdom Causes donates 20% of the advisory revenue generated by the Impact Funds and supplements it with additional funding. Since 2020, they've donated nearly $750,000 to ministries advancing the gospel and protecting life.Their giving is focused on two core pillars:Sanctity of LifeSpreading the GospelFrom local to global, the ministries they support reflect these values.Ministries Making a DifferenceLocal Impact: Prestonwood Pregnancy CenterLocated in the Dallas area, this center is an extension of Prestonwood Baptist Church and serves women with compassionate care and gospel-centered support during unplanned pregnancies. They provide honest care, real information, and a strong infrastructure to support needy women. We chat with Jessica Wolstenholm, Vice President of Education and Publishing at Minno - a platform providing digital content for kids. Jessica shares how visuals help kids understand abstract biblical concepts. Moreover, she discusses Minno's rigorous process for evaluating both licensed and original content. Then, Jeremy Seymour, Minno's Chief Creative Officer, joins the conversation. He highlights the importance of grabbing kids' attention quickly with visuals. Additionally, Jeremy explains the lengthy process of creating original animated content like their Bible series. Throughout the interview, Jessica and Jeremy emphasize balancing entertainment with the core message. They aim to plant spiritual seeds through fun, quirky visuals without being irreverent. Furthermore, they conduct research with kids to gauge interest and retention. Ultimately, the guests explain that visuals are crucial for reaching kids spiritually. David from the Old Testament was a lot of things to a lot of people. In addition to being the second ruler of Israel and one of the greatest kings in history, he was a legendary poet, harpist, and hymn writer. Evidence of his talent is the fact that 73 of the Bible's 150 Psalms are credited to the pen of David. But when people think of one of Scripture's most pivotal figures, most remember him for his bravery as a teenager, for standing up to a giant with nothing but a sling and five small stones. This is the David that animation studio Minno and Slingshot Productions are showcasing in their latest video release. Young Davidsteps into David's early life and explores the actual people, places, and kinds of events that he would have experienced. But most importantly, each episode focuses on a defining characteristic of David, someone God called a man after His own heart. Minno Co-founder and CEO Erick Goss believes that children deserve incredible stories presented in creative, engaging ways. He says that state-of-the-art animation blended with timeless tales of faith and virtue is one of the best, if not THE best way to reach young audiences with the life-impacting message of God's love for us. Goss joins us on the Crossmap Podcast to talk about why the life of David translates so well to today's 21st Century audiences. Listen as he shares why animation is such a wonderful medium to connect across race, cultural, age and gender barriers.Links to CrossmapCrossmap WebsiteCrossmap Facebook

Erick Goss and Dr. Mark Turman discuss the importance of discipling young children and teens, why he founded Minno, a Christian streaming service for kids, challenging how churches neglect children's programming, and ideas for how Christians should handle screen time with their kids. Show notes: Erick Goss begins by sharing his testimony, his time in Naval Academy, his struggle against legalism, and how he rose in the ranks at Amazon (2:01). He moves on to tell the story of how he co-founded Minno, a Christ-centered streaming service for children, how the Lord called him to complete dependence, and why gospel-centered media tailored for kids is so critical (15:53). Goss and Dr. Turman discuss why imagination is so important to Christian faith, what to expect on Minno, and why they include devotionals in addition to cartoons (29:14). Lastly, they turn to a crucial issue for parents: screen time. Instead of authoritarian, fearful rules, Goss recommends discussing media with kids and tailoring screen time to each kid for each age (41:47). Lee Ann offers these valuable tips for parents: Encourage children to choose a favorite verse to unpack and learn more about each week during the advent season. Choose gifts to create a sacred play space for your children. Provide children's books with positive messages and character-strengthening lessons. Invite your children to join you in purchasing gifts for needy neighbors. Encourage kids to help write and send thoughtful, scripture-centered messages to those who need inspiration, like love letters from Jesus. Bring bookmarks with spiritual messages to community Christmas activities and allow your kids to offer them to those who will receive them. Play storytelling games with your kids to spark their imagination about the Christmas story. Participate with your kids in Christ-centered craft activities at art centers. Encourage your kids to use their talents and gifts to share hope and joy at Christmas. Include Christ-honoring elements in your home decor. Hang an extra stocking for a child in need and invite your kids to deliver the gifts with you to the organization or neighbor. Encourage kids to use sticky notes to post their favorite verses on the mirror or near their bed. Include inspirational elements in playtime with your kids. Choose a local food pantry and allow your kids to participate in sharing with those in need. Consider making these charitable opportunities personal and relational. Lee Ann Mancini shares the personal story of how she developed her Sea Kids children's books. These seven books help kids cope with struggles they experience, such as dealing with bullies or difficult personalities. Erick is a digital media executive with expertise in content, community, and e-commerce development. Dawn will also have a conversation with Don Schoendorfer about the Free Wheelchair Mission! Don is a biomedical engineer who makes his home in Santa Ana, California. He has an undergraduate degree from Columbia University and a PhD in mechanical engineering from MIT. In addition, he holds more than 60 patents in the biomedical field. More than 20 years ago, Don turned his God-given and MIT-developed engineering talents to solving the problem of immobility in developing countries. There are an estimated 75 million people with disabilities in the developing world who need a wheelchair, the vast majority of whom cannot get one on their own. The causes of disability range from illnesses and congenital conditions to injuries caused by accidents, landmines, and the effects of war. Working in his garage, Don built prototype wheelchairs that would become the iconic GEN_1 model, originally made of a standard white plastic lawn chair and two mountain bike tires mounted to a steel frame. Free Wheelchair Mission was born. Since 2001, the nonprofit that Don started has designed, manufactured, and distributed 1.3 million wheelchairs for people living with disabilities in 94 developing countries worldwide. When he is not busy working on wheelchairs, Don enjoys spending time with his three daughters and two amazing granddaughters.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
