Cyndi shares valuable techniques for managing inventory levels and emphasizes the importance of maintaining distinct accounts. They will also investigate the advertising budget, highlighting the recommended percentage allocation for this aspect. This episode offers valuable insights and practical advice for ensuring the profitability of your business.   IN THIS EPISODE: [01:27] Cyndi talks about why inventory can be a serious pitfall for a business, why you need an inventory account [08:51] Looking at  each product you sell to determine how to price  [11:39] Cyndi shares the importance of inventory days and getting creative to move stale inventory  [15:39] She explains why  inventory cash flow is different from your operating expenses and the part advertising can play if not managed well [19:27] Pay attention to the return on their advertising spend and how to figure the percentage you should spend [26:45] Cyndi shares the downfall of integrating your accounting system with your inventory  KEY TAKEAWAYS:  The key to operating a business where inventory is involved is to allocate funds so you don't have to borrow money to buy stock.

Wizards Of Ecom (En Español)

If you're like me then you're not overly familiar with affiliate marketing.  It is a bit of a mystery for a lot of us marketers and ecomm entrepreneurs.   However it does have some huge positives: Scalable: Once you attract the right affiliates and have the right offer, you can go from 0 to thousands of orders in no time.   Predictable - As you know, I'm a PPC guy.  I'll always love PPC, but there are variables there.  With Affiliate marketing you pay the same cost per acquisition every time giving you some predictability.     My guest on this episode is Nate Lind.  Nate is an eCommerce entrepreneur, a marketer and the founder of the Online Seller's Summit.  He's also a guy who knows a thing or two about affiliate marketing. Nate's best single day using affiliate marketing was $4.6 million in sales.  He now has a student doing up to $1million in sales per day from affiliate marketing. Not only has Nate built multiple businesses off the profits from affiliate marketing, he also built a tool to better manage affiliate marketing called Offer Profit.  This tool was so successful - he sold to Limelight.   On the podcast we discuss what it takes to succeed with affiliate marketing: Keys to a good offer Making the math work - how to structure your affiliate offers to both motivate affiliates and maximize your growth. Customer lifetime value and Nate's favorite marketing mantra The best businesses for affiliate marketing How Nate lives a 4 hour workweek Why getting punched in the mouth is OK Plus more!

"Definitely I would be vigilant like in an initial screening process. I know most online sellers probably don't have the luxury of being able to see all of their factories but if they do, if they do go to Canton Fair, I highly recommend it. Just so you know what you're dealing with and if you're not comfortable with that, definitely have some backup plans." - Gary Huang, founder of 80/20 Sourcing One of the best perks of going to the Global Sources Summit is that I get to meet many people who are a wealth of knowledge for my business. One of these people is Gary Huang, founder of 80/20 Sourcing, a blog dedicated to show entrepreneurs how to source from China efficiently and cost-effectively. I heard him speak at Global Sources and I knew I just had to invite him to be a podcast guest so that I can share with you the valuable things I learned from him. Gary lives in China and this episode was recorded via a call I made to him from California. The call quality suffered from the Chinese internet connection which, as you know, is not exactly zippy. Nevertheless, this episode is fully packed with great value for anyone who imports anything from China so it will be worth powering through the bad call quality to get to the good stuff. Gary's topic at the Global Sources Summit is about supplier negotiation. There are so many things you can negotiate with your supplier aside from price of goods, and we talk about that a little bit in this episode. As a bonus, Gary has been awesome to give EcomCrew listeners access to his Negotiations pack, which includes the Online Seller's Guide to Negotiating with Suppliers e-book, a negotiations cheatsheet, and a "Secrets of Successful Sourcing" Masterclass video. You can get them all here for FREE. Here are the highlights of our conversation: Gary's ecommerce background and why he started 80/20 Sourcing Why he moved to China and what it's like living in the midst of pollution His direct insight on the ongoing factory shutdowns The positive and negative effects of stricter Chinese environmental laws How to deal with the shutdowns as an Amazon seller Why visiting your factory or doing a third party inspection is very important Direction of Chinese manufacturing Is it a good idea to start sourcing from other countries such as India or Vietnam? Outlook and best practices for sourcing for 2018 We hope you find this episode useful, as I did when I listened to Gary during his Global Sources talk. Don't forget to go to 8020sourcing.com/ecomcrew to get you FREE Negotiations pack.
