Bonjour my little penny pinchers! This week the ladies are socking away their shekels and making a dollar holler for an episode all about the scent of the shrift store! That means everything from old lady breath to eau de Depop to soggy sweaters and Millenial musk. Want to smell like a stewardess perfume? What about a mentos tin? Weed and guava anyone? If you think Maddie and Chloe don't know their way around a bargain bin, think again: these two are rolling up their sleeves, pouring up their cold brews, and hitting the racks for a musty, dusty, and mildly disgusty episode you will not want to miss!Fragrances Discussed:Poeme by LancomeJ'Adore DiorRogue Perfumery Jasmin AntiqueBlack Afghano by NassomattoLoulou by CacharelObsession by Calvin KleinL'Air du Temps by Nina RicciLady StetsonMitsuko by GuerlainHalston by HalsonRien by Etat Libre D'OrangePhlur Vanilla SkinRevlon Ciara Hosted on Acast. In this solo episode I'm talking all things THRIFTING! Shopping second hand can feel like the perfect loop hole for your little treats, without breaking the bank or the environment. But the guilt-free dopamine dispenser of shopping second hand, whether on apps like Vinted and Depop, or in op shops, charity shops and vintage stores, can lead to unhelpful behavioural cycles that leave you with more questions than answers. In my year-long experiment of not buying any clothes, I banned thrifting too. Now, I'm learning to integrate second hand shopping back into my overall approach to clothing and style, and WOW, I learned a lot. This episode will share my insights into the dopamine trap of second hand shopping, and the skills to master in order to be able to do it mindfully. Funnels are linear. Growth loops are exponential. You need funnels to grow, but the power of growth loops is what will make your app engagement, give you high retention, and maybe even give you viral growth. In this episode of Growth Masterminds, host John Koetsier sits down with Hannah Parvaz, CEO of Aperture, to break down growth loops, the systems that power predictable, scalable, compounding growth. We cover referral loops, content loops, habit loops, community loops, incentive loops, and more. Plus: how to kickstart loops, what to do about the cold start problem, and whether you should design around a loop or let your product's natural usage define it.Hannah shares stories from building viral referral systems (yes, free drinks were involved), explains how apps like Strava and Snapchat keep you hooked, and dives into why loops can be more powerful than funnels.Like, subscribe, and share!

In today's special birthday episode of Hot and Unbothered, I'm sharing 22 life lessons I wish I knew sooner — the real, hard-earned wisdom that's shaped me into the woman I am today at 23. From surrendering control and choosing peace, to what confidence actually is (hint: it's not the outfit or the boy), these are the truths I keep coming back to when life gets overwhelming, chaotic, or just plain confusing. This isn't just for girls turning 23 — this episode is for anyone who's trying to grow into their higher self, let go of pressure, and trust their own timeline. These lessons will hit especially if you've been feeling burnt out, unsure of your purpose, or craving a deeper sense of peace and alignment. Think of this as your older sister's gentle (but honest) reminder that you're not behind, and you're not alone.Take what resonates, and leave what doesn't — but I hope something in here makes you feel a little more clear, confident, and connected.
I break down Etsy's strange but telling Q2 2025 earnings report — and what it really means for sellers like you. I'll also show you what's happening behind the scenes with AI rollouts, app improvements, stock movements, and how sellers can stay smart during all this change. Grow faster than 99% of Etsy shops

In this special Riding Unicorns episode, recorded live during London Tech Week and hosted at Cooley's London HQ, we bring you two candid conversations from the frontline of startup building.
You are the love of your life — and this episode is your reminder.
We held a live recording of The Rebooting Show from the Hearst House in Cannes. I spoke to Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Willa Bennett and Hearst global CRO Lisa Howard about how Cosmo is evolving from a magazine and website into a multiplatform brand that aims to establish itself with a new generation as its guide to love and relationships. In this phase, a brand like Cosmo's social handles on Instagram (4 million followers) and TikTok (890k followers) are just as important as the print magazine, which is now published quarterly. The days of “50 Ways to Drive him WILD in Bed” are long gone. It's taking a more nuanced view of love and relationships with projects like the video series Blind Date and Cosmo Sports, a new franchise spotlighting women athletes. We also discussed doing more with less, how Cosmo's next phase is more about creating IP, custom projects like the resale collab with DePop and events like its partnership with Bumble for the Valentine's Day Love Ball.
About the Guest(s):Nate Spiteri is the co-founder of Shopfront, a pioneering Australian company focused on revolutionizing the secondhand market space through a tech-driven approach. With a background in banking and a keen interest in impact businesses, Nate transitioned from the financial sector to the startup realm. He played a crucial role as the first hire in a successful alternative credit scoring startup that aimed at assisting people with impaired credit histories. In parallel, Nate explored the world of fashion through his streetwear brand and gained invaluable insights into the e-commerce ecosystem, which ultimately led him to establish Shopfront.Episode Summary:In this captivating episode of Shape the System, host Vincent Turner invites Nate Spiteri, co-founder of Shopfront, to explore the evolving landscape of the secondhand economy, with a particular focus on fashion. Vincent, a self-professed skeptic of shopping's pervasive consumer culture, delves into the concept of sustainable consumption and how it aligns with living well, posing important questions about the nature of secondhand goods and their potential to mitigate waste.Nate shares his journey from working in the banking sector to immersing himself in impact businesses, eventually co-founding Shopfront. The discussion centers around the fragmented nature of the current secondhand marketplace ecosystem and how Shopfront aims to address these inefficiencies. By facilitating sellers to list their items across multiple platforms seamlessly, Shopfront enhances the circular economy and encourages more sustainable consumer behaviors. As Nate articulates the hurdles and opportunities in creating a scalable venture in this space, he highlights the potential impact of technology in transforming how secondhand goods are traded and perceived globally.Key Takeaways:Secondhand Economy Growth: The secondhand market is a burgeoning multi-billion-dollar industry projected to grow significantly, fueled by increasing awareness and demand for sustainable consumption.Challenges of Listing: Sellers face inefficiencies in listing products across fragmented marketplaces. Shopfront aims to simplify this by enabling multi-platform listings to save time and increase sale opportunities.Market Focus: Shopfront currently prioritizes fashion, targeting vintage sellers who experience pain points in navigating existing marketplaces, although there is potential to expand into other secondhand verticals such as furniture and sporting goods.Brand Importance: Building a robust brand is critical for Shopfront's strategy to distinguish itself from competitors and foster a supportive seller community.Changing Marketplace Dynamics: Global platforms are beginning to shift towards no-fee seller models, preferring buyer fees, which could influence how Shopfront and similar platforms operate in the future.Notable Quotes:"I've always been pretty big on impact businesses, so when I came back from Melbourne, I really wanted to do something with my impact hat on.""It's easy to find people who buy; it's harder to find people who sell because there's more you need to do to sell.""If you put all this in a boiling pot, all of a sudden, you've got these more affordable garments being exploded in kind of Gen Z millennials.""A big part of what we did early on was mapping out all our competitors and realizing they all have the same color palette.""Brand is incredibly powerful for us. We've had users say, 'I didn't even know this existed.'"Resources:ShopfrontReference to marketplaces such as eBay, Depop, Etsy, Facebook MarketplaceB Corp CertificationExplore how Shopfront is paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient secondhand marketplace through innovation and technology. If you follow the fashion and beauty industries closely, then you know that a week rarely goes by without a brand collaboration announcement. From mall brands like J.Crew and Gap, to sportswear giants like Nike and Adidas, to luxury powerhouses like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Versace, brands across the market spectrum have entered the collaboration game — and those that haven't are getting left behind. This week, Alyssa is joined by Steve Dool, senior director of brand marketing at Depop, to dig deep into the world of brand collabs. Tune in to hear Steve's insights about what collaborations can do for small brands aside from a short-term infusion of money and exposure; the benefits on both sides of a partnership; why clout is fleeting and you need to be able to follow it up with other stuff; why the content surrounding a collaboration is often more important than the product itself; a frank discussion on what makes a smart partnership versus a confusing or pandering one; their personal highs and lows of collabs from the past few years; where the role of “celebrity creative director” is heading; whether we'll ever reach “peak collab” or if this is just how things are now, and much more. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit thenewgarde.substack.com
