The Christmas season often brings messages of Jesus’ birth, but are they connecting with an increasingly skeptical culture? Why should people trust the account of Bethlehem, angels, and shepherds if they’ve been told Genesis is merely a myth? The true foundation of Christmas isn’t in Luke 2 but in Genesis, where humanity’s need for a Saviour began with Adam’s sin and its consequence: death. Bodie Hodge challenges Christians to address these foundational issues, showing how Genesis explains the bad news—sin and death—so people can grasp the good news of Christ’s birth, life, and ultimate sacrifice.

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). Legal challenges to Christmas and holiday displays have been going on for decades. In order to combat the anti-Christmas sentiment outside of the courtroom, a nonprofit religious liberty organization is encouraging shoppers to do so with their wallets. Liberty Counsel's Naughty and Nice List classifies retailers according to whether they censor or celebrate Christmas — an allusion, of course, to Santa's list of naughty and nice children from the Christmas standard "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town."Urging Americans "to give the gift of Christmas back to the companies who support it," the group says, "If retailers choose to profit from Christmas while pretending it does not exist, we encourage you to politely explain why and then patronize their competitors." The list forms part of Liberty Counsel's annual "Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign," which the organization launched in 2003 to counter a rising tide of opposition to the public celebration of Christmas."The war against Christmas is nothing new, and it is certainly evident today in the form of religious discrimination and hostility," says Liberty Counsel founder and Chairman Mat Staver. "Repressive forces have always had the same goal — to first secularize and then to eliminate Christmas and Christian symbols, celebrations and speech. In America, the First Amendment is a guard against censorship and religious hostility. In the retail market, the consumer can decide to patronize stores that recognize Christmas and avoid those that profit from Christmas while pretending it does not exist."

Celebrating Christmas?

Is Christmas rooted in pagan traditions? Should Christians celebrate it? These questions spark debate among believers, but the answers lie in a careful examination of history and Scripture. The claim that December 25th is a borrowed pagan festival is challenged by evidence pointing to its roots in early Christian observances and Jewish traditions. Rather than avoiding celebrations due to perceived pagan connections, Christians are reminded of their liberty in Christ, as guided by Scripture. Dr Jonathan Sarfati explores these ideas, addressing misconceptions with logical and historical clarity, and encouraging believers to consider the true significance of celebrating Christ’s birth.

The celebration of the pagan festival of Halloween is now a multi-billion dollar merchandiser's market. Fifty percent of Americans will decorate for Halloween (compared to over 80% for Christmas). It is now the third most popular party activity, after the Superbowl and New Year's Eve. This is always a difficult time for Christians, especially those with children. It is also a dangerous time for some, since many of the seemingly "harmless" involvements associated with Halloween can also be "entries" for the occult, and can prove very tragic for the unwary. There is only one true God (Isa 44:6, 8: 46:9). Thus, only one true religion. Scripture declares "all gods of the nations are idols" (Ps 96:5). All false religion and idolatry is by definition involved in demon worship - whether or not the participants recognize it (Acts 26:18). Hence Paul's concern. The spiritual power and reality behind idols involves demons (I Cor 10:20, Ps 106:37). The Bible tells us to shun occultic practices. FACTS you need to know about Easter. You may have heard it's a pagan holiday, but there's so much conflicting information out there. Which is correct? Tune in to hear WHY we celebrate Easter on the day that we do, the origins of the word Easter, and also WHY we may celebrate the things we celebrate during Easter time. Find this episode on Youtube here: Heather Danielle - YouTube HOURS of research went into this podcast to bring you the most accurate information. Listed below are some sources I used in this podcast: As Christianity absorbed pagan spring traditions, the egg was also adapted to become the perfect representation of Jesus' resurrection; the eggshell symbolising the tomb, whilst the cracking of it representing Jesus' emergence; life-conquering death.https://www.history.co.uk/articles/the-pagan-roots-of-easter We need to realise also that there is no equivalent word for "Easter" in the Greek language, for one simple but important reason, the word is an Anglo-Saxon word for a pagan festival. The word in its original use is entirely pagan. According to the English Church historian Bede, it derives from a pagan spring festival in honour of Eastra or Ostara a Teutonic goddess. It has no associations whatsoever with Christ, His death and Resurrection, or indeed anything Christian. Is it not, therefore, unsuitable to be used to describe the greatest day in the life of the Church? http://www.orthodoxresearchinstitute.org/articles/fasts_feasts/harper_pascha_easter.html Christianity was one of the first religions to demand conversion. If you didn't relinquish your worship of other gods, you couldn't be saved. Jesus' blood could cover all sins, no matter how heinous, but you had to accept his gift of salvation first, and the church demanded exclusive worship of their god, whom they considered separate and unique, in order to receive this gift.https://marketingwhirlwind.medium.com/stop-saying-ishtar-is-the-source-of-easter-8492e91cae5d Join us in the academy here: The Spiritual AF Academy and practice those skills here: https://therealheatherdanielle.com/spiritual-af-academy/ Episode Takeaways: The FREE Spiritual AF Library is here (And you'll become part of our Venture!):The Spiritual AF Library (therealheatherdanielle.com) Mark your calendars for the Spiritual GLOW UP EVENT: (It's FREE): https://fb.me/e/1Jl6qayTk Check out the Spiritual AF Academy here: https://therealheatherdanielle.com/spiritual-af-academy/ Find Heather Danielle's Book, Anxiety to Angels here on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4aNVL39 Be sure to SUBSCRIBE to this podcast so you don't miss out! The origin of the Christmas holiday is a hotly contested topic for both atheists and Christians alike. Atheists claim Christmas started as a pagan holiday that Christians hijacked, thus rendering Christmas irrelevant. Some Christians argue that Christmas isn't a valid holiday as we can't verify if Christ was actually born at this point in the year, and thus, we shouldn't celebrate the holiday. Yet, still, some Christians claim it doesn't matter if it started as a pagan tradition that Christians co-opted, nor does it matter if Christ was actually born this time of year. Rather, what matters is the celebration itself. On this episode of the Bible Bashed Podcast, we will address the issues surrounding the Christmas holiday. ▶ Splash Page: https://i.mtr.bio/biblebashed ▶ Main Episode's playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtY_5efowCOk74PtUhCCkvuHlif5K09v9 ▶ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/BibleBashed ▶ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BibleBashed ▶ Twitter: https://twitter.com/BibleBashed --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblebashed/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblebashed/support
